He checked the water heater, showed me some piping problems that also needed repair, and explained what needed to be done to bring the whole thing up to current code, and answered all of my questions. He gave me a quick estimate for the job, which was very reasonable, and worked with my schedule to get the job done as soon as possible. Jamin did the actual repair (on a Sunday!). When he was finished he showed me the work, made sure the faucets were all working and that the pipes weren't full of air, and left everything neat and clean. Requested an online quote estimate on Sunday late morning, hoping to get into the queue for repair to my gas stove. The flex line had a pinhole leak. I submitted and within minutes got a call from Corey. Called me on a Sunday!? - I told him that his Sunday is important and that my gas valve to the stove is off, and we could wait to chat till Monday. He continued the conversation, asking more about the issue and my needs. He said this is the primary cooking device we need to get you back in business and offered to squeeze us in for the repair on Monday. (the next day) And the next day was here and replacement in, tested and stove back in business! WOW! So great to get such a quick and professional response. He did not rush the service either. When my water heater gave out near the end of the work week, Apollo Plumbing were the only plumbers able and willing to solve the situation right away. Cory gave up time on his birthday weekend in order to restore hot water for my wife and me in our Boulder Creek home. My leech field had not been working for months and my plumbing was backing up. Apollo came out after my septic was pumped and jet hosed the leech and had it functioning. Regarding the plumbing clog, Corey said that the pipes were bad and needed replacing. I was pleased that he diagnosed the issue rather than just snaking. I would've rated them a five a couple months ago when Phil came out to replace a faulty float switch in our septic holding tank. Although I thought the $600 charge for the service on a $50 part and 2 hours of work was too much, he was the only service who would come out the same day to help us. He was a 5 in my book that day. Yesterday our holding tank's grinder pump died. I spoke to him mid afternoon and made an appointment for late this morning, he said he'd come out and take a look. Because raw sewage was about to back into our house I tried a few other places and got someone to come out last night with an estimate and they came back this morning with a new pump. I called Phil at 7am to cancel my appointment saying that I found someone in our emergency and apologized for the cancellation. He called me back at 11am, told me he bought a pump without even checking our system first, and showed up then heard my voicemail. He never checked his voicemail. He chastised me for cancelling my appointment (hours beforehand, as soon as his business hours opened), told me I probably paid mor for the guys who ended up fixing it (wrong), and ended his call angrily saying, "you know what? Whatever!" I will never hire them again. read more

Phil gets 5 stars from us! My husband and I started using Phil after my Dad (who has used him for YEARS) referred him. I might also mention many of our friends use him as well. Phil has come in the early morning or late in the afternoon and even on a SUNDAY.-and no we did not have to pay a weekend premium. He never has us wait more than 24 hours and he is fast knowledgeable and knows what he is doing. He is also honest, which is more that I can say for other people in this industry just trying to make a quick buck off of you. Can you find someone cheaper? Probably, but you get what you pay for. Personally I would rather have someone honest who knows what he is doing. Plus Phil stands by his work and offers a guarantee. And a note to the other reviewer who claims she was overcharged. Phil is solid as a plumber and someone you can trust to give you the straight scoop, keep your home intact, and keep a lid on costs. Phil has come to the house many times and I am always satisfied with the work. When I have asked for adjustments he happily made those no cost. More recently though, Phil has been a no-show. He promised to come to the house several times recently and did not show. I am not sure what is up, but flakiness is par for the course in this valley. But there are solid tradesmen. My problem was not an emergency, but I approached Phil in the beginning of January (if not December) and here we are in March. read more

My water heater died after 14 years. I started calling for help on Monday late afternoon. Some never called back. Others were booked, etc. One plumber said he was booked and suggested I call Phil. it was a great lead since Phil called back and said he could help quickly. We had to figure out when I could have a new heater on site and Phil answered the phone when we needed to talk. Phil came on the day and time we planned. He brought two other helpers to manhandle the heavy old and new heater. After an hour, the new unit was installed and making new hot water. Phil is the Platonic ideal of a plumber brought to life. This is the second time we've called on him; I should have written a review before this, but this time he really shone. We had a plugged bathroom sink, and a greywater system for our washing machine that has been non-functional for some time. Phil and his helper Jamon showed up within an hour of my call and had the sink running in a flash. Folks who've lived here for any amount of time know how unusual that kind of responsiveness is in the San Lorenzo Valley, where trade professionals generally seem to operate in a time zone of their own. As for the greywater system, after trying to snake it, Phil told me that it would require digging, but that I could avoid that with some DIY-fu; he showed me how and told me to give him a call if I got stuck in the process. "Information is free" is how he put it. As a bonus, he taught me a clever trick to keep washer lint out of the laundry sink: put one leg of a pair of pantyhose over the washing machine drain pipe and lay it out in the sink! When it fills up with lint, throw it away and attach the other leg. I'd give Phil six stars if I could. You won't regret calling him. read more

I broke a pipe late afternoon. Big mess outside, NO water pressure inside. First people my husband called couldn't come out until tomorrow. The man who came out to turn off the water at the meter said he wasn't allowed to recommend anybody, but he himself uses Apollo. Phil came right out - was at the house within 30 minutes! Fixed the pipe I broke and was done within half an hour. Told us to turn the water back on the next day. It's been over 24 hours since, and water pressure is great, the repair isn't leaking at all. He was speedy, he was polite, he was effective. His price was very reasonable. We'll use him again for our plumbing needs. read more

We had Apollo come and do some simple capping off of a propane pipe and the fixing of a mis-configured pipe that were put in by what Phil called 'a weekend warrior'. Now years later, we need that same capped off pipe put back. Because of the stellar service we had 12 or so years ago, we are calling Apollo back, and would recommend them for any job big or small, because of reliable service and prompt service. read more

So I struggled with this review as its such a small mountain community and I know these these can be impactful, such as this one. I had a septic tank leak (Wet Ground). I had the tank pumped so Apollo could come out and snake the line to the leech field. I wasn't home, but he was recommended, so there was a certain amount of trust built in. He called me to say he snaked the leech field drain and that it had roots in it. He claimed he snaked over 80 feet to the field and all is well now.I wasn't there, so I couldn't confirm. When I got home there wasn't any debris, but I figured he cleaned up after himself. The tank filled again within one week, and the wet area and seepage appeared again. I called and called, leaving several messages over several weeks and never got a return call. I am guessing my mistake was telling him it was still broken. Subsequently, had to have the tank pumped again for another $500 and called a branded plumber this time.They stuck their camera down the line and found some old piping made of tarpaper from the 70's when the house was built, it was just a few feet off the tank (exactly where the wet ground was before and currently). New branded plumber dug up the section of pipe, and replaced with something from this century. Based on everything there is ZERO chance Apollo told me the truth, this 70s pipe degradation was just 10 feet off the tank, so it was impossible for Apollo to snake some 80 feet, he would never have been able to pass this area with a snake. Stick to a brand with a reputation and some sort of insurance and gt. read more

I have seen some nice reviews here on yelp about this business. This business was recommended by my former property manager. I called over over a week ago to schedule his business to come out and install a new shower head and extension, but not even a return phone call. If the business is too busy or my job is too small, I would of expected at least a return phone call. read more
