We found ourselves in Lewiston. Unbeknownst to us was Garden Fest. The street was closed, but this did not stop us from having dinner. We arrived right at the peak of dinner hour and we were seated rather quickly. The place was rather busy. I had not checked out this restaurant so without my Yelp, I was going in blind. The menu has a decent variety and we all found a decent option. The side options are typical with a choice of potato, salad, or soup. The beer and wine selections are good - good variety and not overwhelming. Our food arrived in time and accurate. The consensus from all with each of their dishes was fair. The food lacked a wow effect and the portion sizes were average. The more I think of this place the word average keeps coming to mind. The service too was average. It was understandable as it was busy; however, we had to consistently ask for things. This may be from her not having decent time to check-in on us. Overall, we were satisfied with our visit and did not regret stopping here for dinner. Will we be back? ...not sure. read more

This place has been in my radar since the days when I was attending Artpark shows (which seems like ages ago, sadly). I finally got to stop in for lunch before a shopping trip at the Outlets. It wasn't busy at all, so we were seated and greeted promptly by a friendly server. I realized I haven't had a taco salad in ages, so I ordered a chicken one and my dad ordered a turkey club. It did take a bit of time to get our order (the server apologized, they were training a new cook in the kitchen) but I didn't mind, I was busy taking photos of the cool decor in the dining room. Our food arrived, and it was very generous portions indeed. I do wish the chicken on the salad had a more "Mexican" flavor instead of frozen chicken strips. I did ask for a couple sides of ranch , which I used with the salsa to top the salad, which gave it the right kick I needed. The shell was cooked perfectly too. Dad enjoyed his gigantic sandwich, but wish he said no bacon because he's trying to cut out fatty foods. I would like to go back to try their dinner menu, I saw lots of seafood options, and that is right up my alley! read more

It's been a long time that I have wanted to try this restaurant and I finally got to. My boyfriend and I split the Bermuda Grilled Beef sandwich before we went hiking at Artpark and Stella Niagara Preserve. The sandwich was perfectly grilled and crispy and was tasty and came with potato chips. Service was good, they are practicing social distances with the table. The crowd was mainly older folks and seemed like a lot of regulars, many of them had fish fry as it was Friday. read more

The food was decent.... Our salads were served after our main dish which was strange. Unfortunately our prime rib was served with at least 60% fat. We spoke to the manager and instead of offering to fix the problem, she argued right away saying "that's how we serve it". Then implied we were just trying to get money off of the bill. Her entire demeanor was disgusting. they ended up serving us another piece of meat. Which was better. The waitresses were all very nice but the manager was awful. Apple Granny was such a great find! My aunt and I were about to do some wine tasting around the Niagara US side, but we were starving and made a random stop in a small cute town. We were excited to find Apple Granny. It's such a warm and welcoming restaurant. It seems like a lot of the customers are regulars. The staff are very friendly and seem happy to be there. I ordered the Friday fish special. It was a huge portion of white fish with sides for about $8 or $9 bucks. I thought it was a great deal. I didn't eat all of the breaded part, and there was still a good chunk of meaty fish to eat. I was completely satisfied! I also thought the coleslaw was unusually good. I usually don't eat slaw because I'm not really into it, but for some reason, I really liked this one. I also got the apple pie for dessert. I'm mean, how can you not order apple pie at a place called Apple Granny?! It was great. It definitely tasted homemade. It was well worth every penny, calorie, gram of fat, etc. =D I think this a great local place to try if you're in the area. It is nice to have a traditional restaurant in the neighborhood. The kind with a large menu with something for everyone! I have been here many times and the standout dishes are the Prime Rib, Monte Christo and Beef on Weck sandwiches. All the sandwiches are very good in fact, as is the chicken salad with the mesquite seasoning. I also love the stuffed cherry peppers. I can always count on a great meal here! read more

Cute little spot. Inside seating was well spaced out but I am not sure if it was due to lack of customers or covid. Pretty traditional American food. The salad tasted amazingly fresh. I was going back and forth between a 2 and a 3 for this place. We got there on a Saturday evening and it was busy so we grabbed a drink at the bar. The bartender was friendly and took the time to explain their offerings and let us try a sample when we saw we were trying to decide between a couple. When we got a table, we placed our order. We were about to say we'd like to start with an appetizer, but the waitress ran off so fast we couldn't. When we got her attention, she sounded annoyed and told us that we'd probably get everything around the same time since we ordered the app so late. I did like that the dinners came with a soup or salad. I had a broccoli cheese soup which tasted good. The salad came out with dressing on the side. It wouldn't pour out of the cup because it was so thick. When putting a knife in it to get it out we then saw it was jello like thick. After pulling the knife out you could see the line where it was cut and it stayed that way for the rest of dinner-never dripped back like a liquid, even a thick one should. For dinner I had a chicken parm, which tasted decent. It was big serving so I had lunch the next day too which was nice. My dining partner had the cajun chicken which was quite plain. It seemed to be just grilled chicken with some cajun seasoning sprinkled on top. Something I could easily do at home. After seeing so many great reviews I was expecting much more. I went here for the first time last summer and I was really disappointed. I heard good things about it and wanted to try to support local business, but my friends and I weren't happy with our meals. I paid about $18 for their fish special that was supposed to be stuffed fish. The fish was bland, no seasoning at all, and was just stuffed with Kraft singles cheese. The service was quite slow as well, which I don't mind so much as I can be patient for good food... But I've never paid for a meal I didn't even eat before this one. I didn't send it back because I felt bad but can't bring myself to recommend. I'd say if you go to stick to the basics like soup and sandwiches. read more

Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere with fantastic home style food. I had the monte christo sandwich...it was perfect. The right amount of ham, turkey and cheese...very tasty. The french fries might be the best I've ever had. The wait staff was attentive without hovering. The price was very reasonable especially when you consider the large portions. It's nice to people watch out the front windows right on Center street. A parking lot and full bar are also a plus. You're only as good as your last meal! Apple Granny has enjoyed an excellent reputation and loyal following for many years but the take out fish fry they served up the first friday of lent 2019 was the worst i've ever had. Ever. i understand that something is lost in the "take-out" process and i don't mind a little quick reheat to bring it back to life. But you should at least be able to transfer the fish fry out of the styrofoam container to a plate without it completely disintegrating. The one i ordered was so soggy/greasy that it fell apart. The batter was totally saturated and grotesque. i now understand what many locals were talking about when they said Apple Granny dropped more than a notch or two when it changed ownership a few years back. New, money-grubbing opportunists take a good thing and then cut corners (like paying a competent cook!) and everything starts going downhill: food, service, experience... and, finally, reputation. And this is the reason i've ordered for this last time from this over-the-hill, over-priced, parasitic establishment whose better days are long gone. read more

We asked for a bigger table and he was very cold turned and put menus on bigger table and left. We then ordered and we all noted we were freezing. After the mildew trauma at Steelhead, we swiftly walked to Apple Granny's. We haven't been there in forever, and fondly remember Julie the bartender who can go toe to toe with Barry and "bar humor." I think she's an original employee if you get what I mean. Disclaimer: if you're intention is to have a great cocktail, think again. Apple Granny's has those stupid donut control pour rings and they SUCK, so stick with beer or wine... or just beer becase the wine selection is really really scary. I got the reuben and slaw, soooo wanting the fries...whatEVER. The reuben was made with thick sliced rye, not too much sloppy dressing, perfectly tender corned beef, but could have used more kraut. Still it was easy to eat. Barry ordered the perfectly boring hot roast beef seved between two thick slices of white bread - a notch above Wonder. I thought the gravy looked too dark, but he said it was great. He didn't even touch his fries!! I may have eaten one... Julie is quick with the placemats, silverware, napkins S & P, Ketchup and horseradish before the food comes out. She's a pro. I don't know what to say about the decor. I really like it here. Nothing fancy, but they have some awesome menu choices for the price. My personal favorites here are the chicken wings and baked (not breaded) fish in butter. We really like Apple Granny. To be fair, if this restaurant was in any place other than the picturesque and charming town of Lewiston, it probably wouldn't last very long. This isn't a place meant to be competing with the staples of downtown Buffalo. It's decent pricing for a "home cooked" meal and a cozy dinner. Myself and some others have made a few visits here and we've tried quite a bit on the menu. The clam basket, grilled cheese, salads, the Reuben, burgers, carrot cake, fish fry, etc. My boyfriend really likes the fish fry here while I'm partial to the fries and carrot cake. I would be 100% satisfied with a slice of the homemade carrot cake (one of the waitresses makes it herself) and a basket of fries. It's an A+ for atmosphere and friendliness. I liked this restaurant. It's very homey and they have photographs hanging up that you will probably recognize. And the waitress was friendly. As an appetizer, we had an Awesome Blossom, which is basically a blooming onion. The onion was good, but I did not care for the horse radish sauce. Instead, I dipped it into into my ranch dressing that came with my salad. My salad was good as well. For the entree, I ordered the broiled shrimp. The shrimp was large and I was happy to see that the shells had been removed. Most restaurants refuse to remove shells from shrimp, so I was thankful that I did not have to get my hands dirty. They were supple and delicious, but it really wasn't enough to fill me up. However, shrimp entrees never seem to be filling no matter where you go. My friends ordered a chicken caesar salad, a Granny melt, and a Monte Cristo. They had no complaints, so I assume they liked their orders. The only drawback was that the place was so crowded that we had to wait about forty minutes to be seated. However, this was during the Lewiston Art Festival, so you're going to expect a long wait no matter where you want to eat. But I think we made the right choice. read more

The decor and charm of this place fits perfectly in heart of historic Lewiston as well. We spilt an order of their wings and they were cooked to perfection, nice and crispy but not overdone. The food's cheap and filling, and the staff is friendly (and according to other reviews, often pretty funny). Locals bring their friends here, alcoholics bring their tendencies, families bring their kids, and business folks even bring their clients, for a bowl of the crab bisque or a short stack of pancakes. If you're looking for gourmet food, you may want to trundle on down to locavore haven Carmelo's. If you're looking for decent beer, the Brickyard (across the street) is better. But if you're in Lewiston and not looking for anything in particular, you'll probably find something good at Apple Granny's. read more
