Normally, I'm a fan of Applebee's in other cities. Pretty sad to see an average of 2 stars for this location but I'll have to pile on and agree. Business 101 is "know your customer." The people who run this location must've skipped that class. If you know Branson, then you should know the client base. Retired, conservative, old fashioned. So, when we stopped in, it was a sea of gray hair with a few families sprinkled about. Only half full. Besides the "urban look" servers (who were actually pretty nice) I had a problem with the very loud music. It consists of: a few hip-hop songs then a pop song; repeat the formula. So loud I could understand every word. As I looked around, I though "who in this crowd would normally listen to this type of music?" (A rhetorical question of course). Second, the place was cold! Now, I'm a big guy and usually the one who freezes out everyone else in the car and at home but not here! After 5 minutes, I went to the car for a jacket. By the way: the woman across from us was literally shivering. We finished our simple meal quickly and paid the $20 - not really a good value for: 8 cheese sticks, a meager bowl of soup, a club soda and water. These people really need to get a clue. The absolute worst experience. I sat at the bar to place a to go order. The female bartender looked over me, pass me, under me, beside me, but never at me. Finally a male bartender came and took my order. I was in the restaurant long enough to eat half way through my mozzarella sticks before I received my to go order which was at least 20-25 minutes. I'm sadly disappointed with Applebee's this past visit. I have been to this restaurant several times and it's always been ok.... this time the service was very slow. The dollaritas contain almost no alcohol and the food was not good. I heard two tables complaining of their food. Ours was delivered at three different times so he had to sit and wait while our food was getting cold. Spinach dip was too runny and chicken was over cooked. The tea was not served sweet and the timely service was annoying. Only reason why I'm giving them two stars is because I had good service in the past. read more

OK so I was debating between one and two stars, when my sweetie reminded me that you shouldn't have to wait 2 1/2 hours to actually taste the food... Which actually in itself was pretty tasty although we didn't want to order chicken, they happened to be "completely out of steak"! What the heck?? They could've told us maybe an hour or two earlier while we were waiting... After waiting about 30 minutes for the hostess to show up we Seated ourselves only because others have already done it without asking while we were sitting there waiting. I haven't been here in some time. I decided to eat and watch the basketball game. I sat at the bar and Sydney was the bartender. She did a wonderful job and has an infectious smile. I ordered the Parmesan shrimp and steak (rare) with garlic green beans and a side salad(large) and a chocolate milkshake. Everything was prepared correctly and tasted wonderful. It's a good late night spot for Branson (open until Midnight). I go for the 1/2 off appetizer deals after 9pm. I consider myself a regular here, but my experiences vary depending on the server, most times they are just very slow with taking orders, listening, and getting them out in a timely fashion. If you go, request Dayton as your server. On the upside, all of the managers are AWESOME!!! They are great at making me feel like a valued customer and thats one of the reasons that keeps me coming back. Had dinner first night food was good. Service was just ok. Went to the bar the next night to sit down to a dirty area. Had to ask bar tender if she had a towel. She did a half ass wipe. Then said she would be with us in a few as she told other employees her issues. Finally after about ten minutes we get a pitcher of beer. I am disappointed. After years of avoiding Applebee's, I tried one in Kansas City and had a pleasant experience, so I thought I would try this one. Not only was the service poor, but the food was mediocre at best. The "spicy" chopped chicken salad I ordered was actually so sweet that I couldn't finish it, and the pretzels and beer cheese dip had slightly burned pretzels and the dip was not the same as I had at the Kansas City location. Made the mistake of taking my husband here for his birthday. The food was the frozen kind you always see the chefs on shows like Kitchen Nightmares. I am almost certain they use the same chicken strips as Sonic but for twice the price. The kids meals were so small my hamster would still be hungry but that's not even the worst part! My husband ordered the three cheese penne. It was a bowl of pasta with only 4oz of chicken on it. To put this is in perspective the kids menu list 4oz proteins on their menu. My husband asked if there was a way to get a little more chicken. Our waiter got the manager, Anne (who we had not asked for), and she came over and proceeds to berate us because 4oz should be enough for us to be happy. She did ask us if he wanted something else but she was so angry we were afraid to order anything else for fear of what she would do to it. We contacted corporate online and requested to speak with someone there. The following day we get a call from Anne, who we had specified we did not want to talk to. She left a very angry voice mail on my husband's phone where she again berated him for asking for more chicken as well as how dare he contact corporate. The sad part is we would have gladly paid a little extra to have a full chicken breast for his bland and nasty pasta. read more

Service was on the verge of awful. Got the brisket nachos and it was pretty much salt and tortilla chips with a couple jalapeños. Then me and my friend got endless wings, which were alright. But I ordered ranch with them and my friend got blue cheese and I honestly can't tell what this sauce is, but it doesn't taste like either of the two. Pleasantly surprised for a major chain. 8oz Sirloin came out actually as I ordered it, med-rare and was tender and delicious! My wife got the 4 cheese Mac and cheese with honey pepper chicken and it was amazing. The pasta was cheesy and the chicken with the honey pepper glaze was sweet with a touch of heat that was dynamite. The dining area appears recently remodeled and clean. Only complaint was the spinach dip cup was a tad small for a whole table. About right for my wife and me. We would return in future visits to Branson. read more

We went to Applebees while on vacation in Branson. The food was ok, but what was not ok were surprises on the bill. They have a 2 entrees for $20 promotion running nationwide. We ordered 2 of the entrees listed for $20, and were charged $25. We studied the bill and menu for explanation and found none. The waitress said the prices were changed, but the mgmt. said to give it to us for $20. Customer service at Applebees hdqtrs. told me some franchises charge upcharges for larger portions, but we didn't order those. Mgmt. may try to pull this on other unsuspecting customers. Horrible server took everyone's drink order but mine and she was standing right behind me, food took forever to make it to table when it did come a $13 plate was smaller than kids meal. Applebees is one of the only places open late in this area. It is nice that they are, but I wish it was more of a family environment. We go out to eat after church at night and it is sad that it seems more bar than grill. Pros- open late, cheap food, descent food Cons- typically a horribly long wait if you have more than a few people, don't like their shirt sayings, don't like the non-family atmosphere as much, dirty bathrooms We will probably continue going there as they are one of the only late night options, but if we had other options, we would probably check those out. read more

Yesterday I tried calling to make a to-go order here and my experience was terrible. I live about 20 minutes away from the restaurant and as soon as I get in my car to head that way I call (don't worry, I wasn't driving while talking on my phone. My husband was driving). I let the hostess know I need to make an order, so she transfers me to who can take the order. I sit on hold for a very long time, and no one ever answers. So I hang up to call again. I call and inform the hostess that I called a while ago to make an order but that nobody answered after she transferred me. She just tells me to wait a minute and transfers me again. I sit on hold again for over 8 minutes and then someone picks up the phone and hangs up on me. By that time we were at the restaurant. I go in and it was not busy (so I couldn't understand why they didn't even have time to take my order). It took quite a while for the hostess to seat us, but it took even longer for anyone to even come take our order. At that point I'd had enough. When we were finally approached to have our order taken I requested to see who was in charge. The lady (I'm assuming a manager) was not helpful at all and offered us nothing to fix the situation even after I showed her my call log proving how long I sat on the phone waiting on them. So I walked out without making an order, and I don't plan on walking back in that place. My business will be taken elsewhere. read more

Waited at door several minutes to be seated while no one seems to notice us. Ordered spinach dip for appetizer. It didn't come with enough chips and we got crumbs. Waited forever for our main course and was never asked for refills for our drinks. Our waitress was more occupied with the people at the bar even though it wasn't busy at all. I wanted a salad with my steak instead of the "seasonal veggies" which were not cooked enough and were crunchy , but just to add a side salad was way overpriced at 3.49. Never asked for refills during meal until we were ready to leave. Then took forever to get the check. Had to ask another server for it. Only my 2nd time eating here and my parents first time. I would not go back based on this experience. I did complain and instead of emailing me they called but I work overnights and sleep days and they never tried to contact me again. We came here tonight an we're from Springfield. We eat Applebee's all the time back home! We can here for dinner. We got sat right across from the bar at a 5 top. We waited 15 min. No exaggeration and my father had to get up an ASK for service! We're NOT people to complain. We understand, things get busy an people have things to do but, not even the simplest, "we'll be right with you". So then, we have to ask for double chips, 15 min to get those. Our margaritas and beers we're sitting on the bar while she was talking with another girl laughing an joking an yes, I admit she looked stressed but, I myself work in the restaurant business in Kansas an when you are stressing things appear to be noticed on your face! My mother got her second margarita an it didnt even have alcohol in it??? It was a clear sweet margarita mix. I took it up there an she looked at me like I was dumb. I know what Alcohol taste like an this one had nothing in it. My dad ended up forgetting he ordered his second beer after it took 15 min to get it.
