Let's bee honest! The food is hit and miss, it's an American chain restaurant, nothing wrong with that, but not going to knock your socks off right? But why come to this specific location in Gig Harbor? Two names... Alena and Tiffany. They are not only great at their jobs but super friendly, quick with a recommendation and never ever anything but professional and polite. I come here because I travel up and down the I-5 corridor weekly for work. Tuesday- Thursday I stay In hotels and the company buys me dinner. When I'm In Gig Harbor, I come here. For the atmosphere created by the staff. Don't get me wrong I gave you two names because they are who I remember best, trust me you will too! But I don't want to leave the rest of the team out, but I sit at the bar, grab a beer, order my food and watch tv. Just like I would if I was home, but I'm not at home.... So why do I feel like I am? Because of the people who work at this particular location!! They are a close knit group, you can tell they like each other. How you ask? Trust me, just come visit and listen to the laughter and see the smiles. See the way the regulars talk to them and ask follow up questions from their last visits, watch the staff reciprocate. Ya it's an American chain restaurant, but seriously because of people like those mentioned by name above, it's so much more. We decided to visit Applebee's for National Cheeseburger Day. I have to say I was impressed with their Bacon Cheeseburger and fries. Our waitress was impressive too. Alena B was one of the best waitresses I've ever had wait on me in a chain restaurant like Applebee's & I used to visit Applebee's every week for the Oriental Chicken Salad as their Thursday lunch special. I've never visited this location even though I've lived in this area for over teo years now. I never noticed this location in front of Safeway due to my obsession with the pizza place a block away. I will not only be back but look forward to my next visit. The burger was even better than the last time I visited Red Robin which kind of surprised me but it was a pleasant surprise. I was reminded why I don't eat here. We had the 50 cent wings and they are charging for ranch. Our waitress took my daughter's order first and it was the last order to come out. We asked where her food was and she looked confused and went back to the kitchen. She came back acting like she didn't know what happened and told them to put a rush on it. It took so long we had to get her meal to go. She didn't offer to remove her meal from the bill or to comp anything. I did a survey while I was there and requested someone to call me. Had lunch at Applebees in Gig Harbor the 28th of February. I paid the bill but when I looked at my bank statement I been charged more. I called the restaurant three times to get the correct amount refunded. One person told me it would take ten days to see the correct amount deducted and refunded to my account. After talking to the third person or the third call, I was informed it should have taken no more than 24 hours. As of this date the correct amount has not been refunded or credited to my checking account. My advice is use cash and not use a card to pay your bill at Applebees in Gig Harbor. I have given them more than enough time to credit my checking account. This should have never happened to me and hopefully no one else will have to experience this. read more

Applebee's is usually an inexpensive, consistent tasting food in a nice atmosphere. That was until I went to the Applebee's in Gig Harbor. First we ordered the cheese dip with tortilla chips. The chips were stale and the cheese dip was okay. I was starving! So I ordered the Prime Rib Dip Sandwich. OMG! It tasted terrible. The meat itself was like beef jerky and I could barely get through 1/2 the sandwich. I asked the waitress, after she asked me how everything was, if they had a new cook. I told her about the food and she was embarrassed. I did tell her that her service was great, but usually places like this are consistent in their menu and how to cook it. Last night my adult kids went to have appetizers and drinks. They were tasting each other's drinks when the manager came and pulled up a chair and spoke to them like little kids saying it's against the law to share drinks and she was rude and spoke down to them. I have never heard of this law we looked it up. There is nothing that says sharing (tasting) each other's drinks when they are all over 21-35 years old is against the law. This was at about8-9pm on December 23 at night. So my Adult kids got up left their drinks and appetizers after paying the bill and will never go back to applebee's bar ever again. wow, Applebee's has gone downhill. This is appalling ordered the bourbon Street steak online to pick up on the way home after a particularly stressful day. I ordered a medium rare steak (got a steak and some potatoes for $25.00). After waiting in their lobby for five minutes while the bartender and another employee looked at and laughed at some thing on a cell phone. I waited another five minutes for someone to bring out my food, even though I had received a text. It was ready as I was waiting out in my car. I got my food and returned home. I had to drive back to the store to return it and get my money back.. It's really the only place in the Harbor that's open late. They won't ever get another dime from me. zero stars read more

My wife and I love Applebees. Always have, likely always will. Tonight at the store in Gig Harbor Washington my wife ordered the bourbon street steak. She ordered it medium rare (she likes medium) because it finishes cooking on the plate. The steak was a bit overcooked, but worse, was the quality of the meat. It was threaded with tendons, overly chewy and lacked flavor. We'll keep coming back but I'm hoping the Applebee's buyers address this. I'll gladly pay a bit more for better cuts of steak. read more

Got in late to The inn at Gig Harbor. Ordered Applebee's on Uber Eats. I didn't have that high of expectations but it still only gets a 3 star review from me. My ribeye steak was cooked beyond well done. Basically rubber. The queso was mediocre at best. I ordered nachos with the intent to eat the toppings off the top of the chips. I don't recommend Gig Harbor Applebee's CarSide to Go. I've already had several instances where I order well ahead of time (at least an hour), only to find my order is ready 10-15 mins after the requested pick up time. I was reluctant to use CarSide to Go again, but it was my child's birthday dinner choice. Per usual, I ordered an hour ahead of pickup time. I parked in CarSide to Go parking and used the link sent to my cell phone. It didn't work-- "Order not found. Please contact the store" is the response I received. I then called the restaurant; I was told my order "just needed to be bagged". After 10 mins, I went inside the restaurant. The dining room and bar were less than half full. I asked for my to-go order and was told "the kitchen is backed up, but it should be ready real soon." It was finally ready almost 40 minutes AFTER my scheduled pick up time. Stay away from GH Applebee's CarSide to Go if you don't want to be disappointed and don't appreciate being treated as an afterthought since you're not in the dining room. read more

Finally, a manager type came in and the music was turned down so we could actually converse. (And changed to something calmer.) I have never been a big fan of AppleBee's and yesterday's experience was a perfect example. There was ONE server for the bar and front seating. The host had to come and help on multiple occasions and eventually a manager, idk, they never introduced themself. A group of 6 of us came in for a birthday happy hour. Which, if we hadn't had a table kiosk to order from we never would have gotten in over half the table order. It took about 35 min to get a dinner order in and we had to wave down our server or the HOSTESS to get a refill on drinks. It was laughable. The server, I swear, had that deer in the headlight look and this is not her first rodeo. It was not very busy and by not very, I mean not at all. She didn't know how to answer a single question about anything we asked. The chicken Parmesan look like something out of an elementary cafeteria. Not to mention that the sweet and savory chicken dish is only enough to feed a four-year-old and I'm not kidding about that. The first order of wings that came out for one of my group was not made correctly and they had to send it back to have it made the way they had asked for. Another member of the group ordered the quesadilla hamburger and the bottom came out incredibly soggy. Id say the only thing that came out looking good was the wonton tacos. Those again are very very small portions but at least they were good. The nachos are a joke don't order them, you're just wasting your money. I won't be back. read more

We ordered our drinks (water) right away but didn't get them for about 5 minutes then we ordered our burgers but had to wait about 30 minutes to get them. When they brought it we had to ask for a to go box instead. It was disappointing. The fries were great. We ate those on the way back to work, but the time just sitting was a bummer. read more

We first ate here back in January 2014 and enjoyed the food and the service. So, this past Sunday when we decided to have lunch in Gig Harbor we stopped in. First sign of trouble: no one at the front desk. There were about 5 servers in the entire place: four were at the opposite end of the restaurant. The fifth was at the bar gathering up dirty dishes to, I guess, take back into the kitchen. Absolutely no one looked our way. The restaurant was maybe a little less than half-full of customers--almost all of them seated on the opposite end from where we were standing. We waited for 2 minutes with no one coming to where we were waiting and so we left and wound up having a fabulous meal at another restaurant within walking distance. Have no idea how the business is doing but understaffing your restaurant on a Sunday afternoon is not going to help it at all. There's no excuse for the failure to train staff to keep an eye on front door for incoming customers. Then all it takes is a greeting and "we're a little busy but if I can ask you to be patient someone will seat you in a few minutes." There, you've told us the situation and set our expectations. Too many restaurants fail to adequately train their managers and staff in these simple basics of good customer service. No wonder this Applebee's has been getting terrible reviews for months. read more

Ordered a fish and chips and a fried shrimp dinner yesterday. Very impressed with their take out process. I ordered on line and they gave me a pickup time. I pulled into the designated parking spot and the food was brought our a couple of minutes. Still warm when I put it on the table ten minutes later. Very tasty and reasonably priced. read more

Was in here just a few days ago. It was busy in the regular portion of the restaurant so I opted to sit at a high top in the bar area to get seated quickly. I had scoped it out and was excited to do the all you can eat wing/riblets/shrimp after finally starting a new job. I waited about 40 minutes for my very first order of wings to come out and all but a wing or two was completely inedible. They usually give you a set amount of good size wings but I had maybe 12 "wings" with most of them being finger sized and almost completely breading. Not only were the wings absolutely terrible but the plating wasn't even right! First order comes out as it looks on the menu, big rectangle plate with some small cups of slaw or ranch, and the Fries. This was the most unappetizing arrangement of crappy wings and old fries on a circle plate and nothing else on it. I surmise that plate had just been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour waiting for someone. So unimpressed with the wings, presentation and service thus far(with as few people that were in the bar area, she never checks up on me. Maybe because I chose to drink water that night bartenders think the tip will suck?) I decided to order riblets which I've never had, got the Asian sauce. Another 20 minutes and she brings me two small plates of single riblets with barbecue sauce as a gesture because "the ones you ordered are going to take forever." No communication, just a pathetic attempt so appease me because clearly she forgot to ring my order in with how many(little) people she was taking care of. Would have held me over if those riblets didn't suck too! Another thing that seemed baked under a heat lamp and unwanted bye anyone else. I mean a regular showed up and he had his food in 5 minutes. I was so disgusted by the food, presentation, unprofessionalism and service that I paid cash so I could just leave. I expressed how disappointing the meal was and here I am; I never right reviews. Took the family to lunch at Applebees in Gig Harbor. At the table next to us a contractor set up a ladder into the ceiling and proceeded to drill and hammer very loudly. We could not hear ourselves talk and dust was falling on the table and food. We complained to the server but he said there was nothing he could do. It looked like the contractor was running electrical line for a new light switch. Seems like this work could have been done outside of peak meal hiurs. read more

Updated review: Stopped by today after grocery shopping. The hostess said to seat ourselves in the bar, and that the server would be right with us. After a few minutes the hostess brought us menus and told us that the server would be right over. It was not busy, and there were many staff working, nobody appeared rushed or in a hurry. Terrible service, clear staffing issues, especially at 7pm on a Sunday night.... Walked in and was told a 10 minute wait which is fine but the restaurant was half empty. When we got sat our server only had 1 maybe 2 other tables in his section. Didn't get greeted until 20 minutes, didn't introduce himself or nothing, just went straight into our order. Me and my partner both got the endless boneless wings, he came back a few minutes later and asked if we wanted to order our refills of wings now because they were apparently taking a long time to come out. Which they didn't take that long, and the refills came before the actual first order of wings. One of the refills was the wrong flavor, the plates barely came with any fries, we asked if we could get some extra and he never gave us any. He used the excuse of how the kitchen had some more coming out in a minute. You could tell he was only worried about his big top that already had entrees and everything and neglected our table.
