Couldn't be more thrilled excellent service incredible knowledge really wonderful people. Didn't want to charge me a thing but I made them. Zach and the rest of the team are fantastic at Applegate Garage! I was traveling up the hill, at just the beginning of my multi-state move. My truck overheated and I consider myself lucky it happened right around the corner from Applegate Garage. I checked the things I knew to check but wanted a second opinion, so I took it over to Applegate Garage to get looked at. I was from out of town and being charged an arm and a leg was something that I was definitely afraid of but I figured it was better to be safe than sorry. Zach checked it out himself and topped off my coolant with some water- No charge! It may sound silly to some but It really meant a lot to me. Later, when the radiator finally kicked the bucket (about 10 more miles down the road, heading up I-80) I was able to limp my truck back to Applegate, they checked that there weren't any bigger problems like a blown head gasket or something else and verified that it was the radiator. Despite wanting to give Applegate the reward for their work and be able to pay them something I was candidly told that they were so booked they wouldn't be able to get for a coupe of days. They could have easily told me "Oh yeah we'll get to it as soon as we can" and strung me along but they didn't. They were honest and valued my time as well as theirs so they got me going enough to get back to Sacramento to get to a shop. I still wish I lived closer so that I could have more repairs and services to be done so that I could support their business but unfortunately this is the best I can do- If you need a repair and you're in the area, go to Applegate, they'll treat you right. read more

I wish there was an option for more than 5 stars !!! We were on our way to our annual family camping trip when all of a sudden the motorhome wouldn't shift gears, the speedometer, the blinker and lights wouldn't work !!! We pulled off in Colfax and called 7 different places to see if anyone could help us! We told them we thought it was a fuse and just wanted to see if someone could hook it up real quick to check .... No one would help they were all to busy ... We called a friend from the area and he told us to go see Zack at Applegate Garage!!! He had 20 cars waiting to be worked on , he worked 13 hours the day before and he still said he would check the fuses real quick , if that wasn't the problem he couldn't work on it today but he would atleast take the five minutes to check the fuses !!! Low and behold the trailer had a short and caused a fuse to blow !!!! He changed it and we were on the road again !!!! Tried giving him a tip and wouldn't take it so thought I should let everyone know how awesome they are !!! This is a very special once a year camping trip with 25 of my family and without Zack and Applegate Garage , I would of have missed it for the first time in 15 years !!!! I am also an Applegate resident so may be a bit biased due to their convenience, but I have also tried many mechanics from Auburn to Roseville and find these guys are the best. They are always reasonably priced, often offering several repair alternatives with a price range, and give an honest diagnosis. Didn't catch the guys name that helped me out today but I was in a bind and in a rush. My truck shut down on the side of I80. I was limited to 25mph so I took the next exit and drove right down the road. Thankfully pulled into this place. Zach and his crew are top-notch. Very contentious and always make sure to do their best to get the job done right. We are very lucky to have them take care of our 4 older vehicles, (our 2 sons are in college and we have to squeeze as many miles as we can out of these cars). The best moment was when they fixed my Nissan about a year ago. I'm always looking for the least expensive way to go, so they used a rebuilt part. When the re-built part they used failed just a few months later, Zach insisted that "that repair should have lasted at least a year to 2 years minimum!" and then proceeded to fix it again free-of-charge, which included using a newer part. I did not ask for or expect him to do that. (And it was kinda cute how indignant he got, he really takes pride in getting it right.) I've had rebuilt parts from other mechanics fail before, but they certainly never took it personal and certainly never insisted on fixing it again for free. After that I told Zach he had a customer for life, (He already did, but that sealed the deal). If there's such thing as karma, they have a lot of good karma coming their way. read more

They checked out my car immediately, confirmed that it was starting to overheat, told me exactly what to do as I drove over the Donner pass, and told me what to do once I got to Tahoe or back to the city. My wife and myself were on our way from the Bay area to Tahoe in our 94 Ford Expedition (with our 45 lb. dog) when the transmission went out. We coasted into the Applegate Garage. Zach, the owner, had a full house of vehicles he was working on. He said he was booked solid for the next week. He called auto repair shops in both directions (east & west) along I80. We must have hit the busiest time of the year for repairs because every shop was booked out from 1 to 2 weeks. It was a hot September day and Zach and his employees went out of their way to provide us (and the dog) with cold drinks and a cool place to wait til we decided what to do. Long story short, our daughter picked us up that evening and Zach let us park our broken vehicle in his open field storage area (without charge) til we decided what to do with the Explorer. Our take on this whole episode: from observing his interaction with other customers and our own experience, our take was that we were extremely fortunate to have found Applegate Garage during our traveling mishap. A throw back to a time when people were hospitable and taking time to develop positive relationships with customers. Throughout this entire day and storing our vehicle in his lot for over 1 week, Zach refused to accept any money for his time or using his storage facility. He asked only that we write a "review".
