Appliance works is awesome! Our family had used another appliance guy for many years. He didn't work on Bosch washing machines so therefore we looked for another appliance repair company and came across appliance works. When we called we got an appointment right away. Steve was our repair man he was very knowledgeable on the washing machine we had and diagnosed it quickly and effectively. I felt as if he was a genuine guy who cared about fixing our appliance now trying to dig our pockets. He walked us through what he did and explained what we need to fix it, how long it would take for the part to come in and how much it would be. I coudnt have ask for a better experience. Its hard to change a company that has always worked for you but I'm grateful to have found this company. Called AW for a problem with my Samsung Refrigerator's ice maker. They came out and had difficulty diagnosing the actual problem. Returned a few days later with a part which did not solve the problem. They then called Samsung and determined it could be another part. Came back to install that and still not repaired. Diagnosis is bad wiring in the door. I decided not to replace the door as it's half of what I paid for the refigerator. All they charged me was the initail visit $55. Couldn't believe it. First time using an Appliance Repair Service: Refrigerator cost me $2500 10 years ago; and it stopped cooling. Wasn't sure if I should buy a new Refrig or repair. I expressed my options to buy if the repair expense was excessive. They found a problem with a control module board: they explain my options to either use a refurbish module because the module was no longer manufactured or pay the service call and go buy a new refrig. The repair with the refurbished module cost me 1/5th the cost of a new refrig; and my refrigerator is working like new. I am so thrilled I found this company online and chose them to fix my gas dryer. I was scheduled within two days and my dryer was fixed for a very reasonable cost. A fraction of what a new dryer would cost me. Very professional, clean and fair. On my call someone was being trained. It made me a little nervous at the start, but as I listened to the training I was so impressed.!! He was so patient and clear as he trained his apprentice. I saw the one star ratings about the scheduling getting botched... so glad I ignored that and hired them. This is a really good company!!! read more

I found myself with a dead refrigerator a couple of months ago. Appliance Works is in my neighborhood, and I prefer to deal with independent businesses. I needed the fridge replaced asap - food in ice chests is not the preferred way to keep during the summer months. I ordered a new fridge on Friday afternoon and they delivered it on Monday morning, 1st thing. Unfortunately, this fridge (a Crosley) turned out to be a true lemon. I took pictures of door shelves that fell to the floor with the least provocation and a drawer that I could only get open 1/2 way. The store manager, Storme, worked with me quickly - even contacting the manufacturer (Fridgedaire) to find out what I needed to do and providing me with the number to get one of their technicians out to confirm the problems. The tech did just that and initiated a full refund or replacement. I asked Storme for her suggestions on a different model and I chose one of their floor models - larger, better design and stainless steel, matching my other appliances, and at very little additional cost to me. This took barely 3 weeks to remedy and I'm very happy with my new fridge. More than that, I recommend this store for their high quality of service and customer appreciation. Storme kept me up to date through all this and even called a week after the 2nd delivery to find out how I was liking the new-new fridge. I sheepishly admitted that we had their service guy, Sam, install the door to open on the wrong side, and she sent him right out to fix that customer-caused problem, no charge. I am not happy with the service they have done at home. Our cooktop was not working and I called this company to fix it. They came twice but it is still not working as expected. I paid almost $300 for the repair but the cooktop igniters are still not working. now I am thinking to replace with new one. I will not recommend this company, better to go with any handyman. read more

We called and Edward, the service technician, was in our office the same day. He even was able to get here a little earlier than expected. That was a nice surprise. Edward diagnosed what was needed, gave us an estimate and promised to come back the next day to do the work. He showed up today as promised and now the fridge, and our food, is chilling nicely. I used Appliance Works for the first time a couple of weeks ago. They were very friendly and professional but I think I paid too much for the Idler pulley on my dryer. The cost was 200.00. The repair took 1 hour. The part is 10.00 on Amazon. Next time I'll shop around. read more

My garage refrigerator had issues. It started with Sam who I cannot say enough great things about. The part took a few days to get (don't these things always happen on a Friday) and Sam promptly returned when the part came in. A few hours after they left, the refrigerator was having issues - but that was no fault of Sam's. I left a voicemail that evening and two men came out the very next morning promptly at 9. To say they were thorough would be an understatement. Turns out my husband had incorrectly changed the settings on both the freezer and fridge. They explained what to do and where the settings should be and said to leave it at that over the weekend. Even in 120 degree temps - the fridge did not go above 38 degrees. Call them if you want to throw $55 away! I contacted them and they scheduled me for a "diagnostic visit." When the service tech arrived, he asked if the ice maker was working. We said no, that is why we called. He then "diagnosed" the problem to be a broken ice maker, and that every component relating to the ice maker would need to be replaced. When we asked him if he could identify the faulty component or diagnose the problem, he said no, that the best plan is "to just replaced everything, and then you know." When we informed him that we had already replaced a valve, he said "well, then I guess we don't have to replace that." Absolutely no diagnostic was performed. His estimate was for an amount almost more than we paid for the fridge! When we complained to the main office, they were not helpful, and ultimately threatened to send us to collections if we did not pay the $55. If you need an ice maker fixed, don't call these folks! read more

Not recommended. We had an appointment yesterday 10/4 to repair our dishwasher. It was not draining. Our service time was from 3-5. It was 4:47 before I decided to call the office. The representative who answered the phone was amazing. She checked in with the repairman and called me back. She said, he was 20-30 minutes out. Low and behold 30 minutes to the tee, 5:17. The repairman assessed the situation whilst spilling water all over my floor. He ask me for towels so he can wipe it up. I had to assist him to pull the dishwasher out as the linoleum had gotten bound up under the feet of the dishwasher. He could not find anything genuinely wrong this the dishwasher so he placed the on its rear with the water still in it to continue his diagnosis. After this the display no longer works properly. It is now intermittent at times. My other concern is he did not place the dishwasher back properly. It is now resting on the tile tilted backwards and sticking out from the counter. All this for 95$ read more

I am totally unimpressed with this company. I thought I had researched them thoroughly and felt assured by the posts on this site that they were reliable and honest. Several of the posts refer to being quoted a higher price and then having the price adjusted when the tech evaluated the actual work required. My Maytag washer showed an F21 code and simply needed to have the drain filter cleaned out. Unfortunately the screws to remove the front are on the bottom and require tilting the machine at a 45 degree angle to access them, which I could not do. I called Appliance Works, explained what I needed done, and was told the price was $55 for a service call which would be applied to the repair and when I inquired about the hourly labor charge, I was told it was a minimum of $90, which would include the service call. Although I was told the tech would call and give an estimated arrival time, halfway through the three-hour window I had heard nothing and decided to call the office and ask when he might arrive. The receptionist told me she would check and get right back with me. 15 minutes later, the tech arrived, without prior notification from either him or the business's receptionist. I explained what I felt needed to be done and he stated a price of $190 that would go up to $300 if he needed to replace the pump, which I told him I felt was high but I wasn't sure of what I had been quoted. When I explained that only the drain needed to be cleaned out, he described an elaborate process involving removing and cleaning all the hoses and removing the drain pump. At that point, I realized I was probably going to be charged the service call anyway and I was hoping for the same type of price adjustment described by the other customers on this site. I watched the entire process. He was here less than 30 minutes. The majority of time was spent tilting the machine and removing and replacing the screws. No hoses were removed. He pulled the filter out and dumped it and then used a pair of pliers to seemingly pry another piece off. At that point, the washer immediately began draining. He used the pliers to put the latter piece back on and then reinserted the filter and reattached the front. At this point, he had been at my house for 20-25 minutes. The price went down $10 to $180, but he told me the invoice would be left open for 30 days and if I needed the pump replaced, the amount of today's call would be applied to that charge, which made me somewhat nervous since he seemed confident I would require a pump within 30 days. He started the machine on a cycle but left after a few minutes, without ensuring the cycle could be completed. Once he left, I called their office again and asked about their prices. The receptionist again stated $55 for the service call which would be applied to the repair and a minimum of $90. I feel I should have been charged no more than $90, based on the fact it required only labor and no parts. I called today and asked to speak to the owner, who checked into it and called me back an hour later. He stated the "national average list" showed a price of $145 for the service performed and rejected my argument that the charge should only have been $90 because he "had bills to pay." I feel anyone knowing the repair that needs to be performed on their appliance and thinking of using this company's services should be aware that a "national average list" (according to this owner, at least) exists and should ask what that price is rather than hoping for the pleasant encounters described in the other posts. read more

Scott arrived not only on time, but also actually a bit early. First impression was that he was very clean cut. He presented himself very professionally and friendly. He performed the work in a timely fashion and with a smile. He is extremely pleasant, patient, professional, knowledgeable and informative. He is totally honest in that he doesn't try to sell you something you don't need. As a matter of fact, he even thought it might be best for me just to buy a new oven, rather than repair mine, since it is going on 20 years old. Definitely not in his favor, but nonetheless, he offered that option graciously. I hope nothing of mine breaks again, but I would certainly welcome the opportunity to have Scott come back and perform the work if it did. Now on the other hand, the lady that answers the phone, Christine, is not as pleasant. She is efficient, but quite curt, abrupt and not warm or welcoming at all. As a matter of fact, if I hadn't read such great reviews on the company, I probably would have hung up and moved on to the next one. They really should have someone much more pleasant answering the phone to make a better first impression. Thank you Scott. You made up for it. read more

I called them a few months ago to fix seals on my LG refrigerator. The door would not stay shut without much pushing. The technician came and ordered door seals. He came back a week or so later, put new seals and charged me a few hundred dollars. The doors on my fridge were closing but required quite a bit of muscle to open and close. My few year old kids have been still struggling with opening and closing fridge. I was told to give it time and the seals "would adjust" to the door. Fast forward 5 months later, the seals "have not adjusted" as was promised. To the contrary, they are literally getting shredded by my fridge doors. Towards the top of the door, pieces of seals are falling off the door. I called the company to see if they could help. Was told I am out of luck. They only offer 90 day warranty and I should have thought of contacting them earlier. They offered to send another technician "for a fee" to check on the seals and order another replacement for a few hundred dollars. I was appalled by their lack of customer service. One would expect a few hundred dollar seals on fridge doors would last a little longer than a handful of months. read more

Have a rental condo in Phoenix. Tenant advised that the refrigerator was leaking. had a plumber look at it and said the frig was shot and needed to be repaired. Passed on the plumber and decided to try Appliance Works based upon Yelp ratings. Glad I did. Called on Sunday and they called me back first thing Monday morning. Got someone in Monday afternoon. Tech advised that the frig was fine and the only problem was that the line at the frig was loose. Had them also look at the washer (tenant thought it was missing a cycle) and it was fine and also had them check the dryer for any build up of lint (one of the biggest causes for residential fires). Did all this work and inspection and only cost me a little over one hundred. Comforting to know that I found a service provider who is able to be honest and competent. Definitly will use them again and very comfortable recommending tehm . read more
