We went on auto-mode when we recently needed a new fridge; where did we buy an appliance from last time? Well, last time was during Covid when stocks were bare, and Bray & Scarf just happened to have in stock what we needed. We should have researched this time. High prices, a checkout process reminiscent of the last century and a post sales support process that makes me say I am never buying from them again. Our new fridge makes an annoying high-pitch warbling cricket sound all morning; they sent a tech out and he claimed he couldn't hear it. That was it from Bray; from here we've been told we have to deal with Thermador directly. So why use a middleman? Just go to a big box store where you know there won't be any support, and that's factored into the price. read more

I ordered a Speed Queen dryer in 2024. When they installed it, I told them that it was installed incorrectly (both email and phone call). The manual stated that the dryer pipe shouldn't snake and bend. Bray and Scarff spoke with me on the phone and insisted it was installed correctly and then stopped answering my emails. Two years later, my speed queen now takes multiple cycles for a single load to dry. I reached out to Speed Queen about this because it's still covered under warranty. They sent an email stating that the way Bray and Scarff installed it was incorrect!! I felt gaslit years ago and just gave up. I brought a Bosch dishwasher from Home Depot but ended up with Bray and Scarff after we reported that the dishwasher was not working properly. The service man who came to our house was rude and basically told us that we needed to include vinegar to reduce the terrible mold scent coming from the dishwasher after each use. There was no follow-up and personally I would not appreciate having this person back into my house. We had a Bosch dishwasher, prior for over 10 years. Very Disappointing Warranty Service We hired Bray & Scarff approximately three years ago for a major kitchen remodel, including purchasing cabinets that were advertised as having a lifetime warranty. Over a month ago, I contacted Bray & Scarff because the rollout trays for the cabinet containing our trash baskets were no longer functioning properly. It took more than two weeks just to get someone to respond. When they finally did, we were told that their warranty department would contact us to verify the claim. Nearly another month has passed, and we have heard nothing. During that time, I have contacted Bray & Scarff several times trying to get an update or simply get someone to address the warranty claim, with no success. What is particularly disappointing is that this isn't a complicated issue. We made a substantial investment in a Bray & Scarff kitchen and purchased cabinets that were represented as carrying a lifetime warranty. A warranty has very little value if a customer can't get the company to respond when it's time to honor it. We gave Bray & Scarff multiple opportunities to resolve this directly before posting this review. At this point, after weeks of delays, repeated attempts to follow up, and no resolution, I think prospective customers should be aware of our experience--particularly anyone considering purchasing cabinetry based in part on the advertised warranty. Went here after the other appliance company we were working with tried to add on all kinds of fees and storage charges. Geoff Burns helped us find exactly what we wanted. We settled on the GE set (induction range, fridge, microwave, dish washer, and a non-GE beverage center) They price matched the deal we had with the other company and had no additional fees and did not charge a storage fee even though we were buying everything 8 months in advance. They have been communicative throughout the process. The delivery was punctual and very professional. They did not show me how to operate anything but that doesn't matter, they aren't complicated. Recently bought a dishwasher here. Came in on a Tuesday midday. The saleswoman, Diana, was friendly and patient. She showed me the dishwasher models I was interested in and answered all my questions. I am happy to have taken her advice to go with the Kitchen Aid instead of a Bosch. She helped me set up a time for them to install it. She also explained that they only use their own in house people for installation (no third party contractors for installs). Installers came exactly when they were supposed to, and the dishwasher has been working great for the past month or so. The whole process at the store took maybe 15-20 minutes; installation was done in less than an hour. I would highly recommend this place if you're in need of a new appliance. read more

Spending $7k just to buy the worst experience. Ordered a fridge and a dishwasher 10/1/2025, did not get them until 3 month later in mid Dec. Multiple deadlines were promised in between, items were never delivered. They told me TWICE that my fridge was "damaged" so they had to order new one. The second time they told me my fridge was damaged so the delivery date will be delayed to the end of December because they are ordering a new one. We were very upset so we called them. The manager on the phone was not helpful. Three days later, our fridge magically became available for delivery. Go figure. Filed a BBB claim, the company is basically blaming Thermador/Bosch for everything. Took zero responsibility. Very unapologetic. We ordered from their website and didn't hear anything about delivery. After a few days, I gave them a call and the person who answered was incredibly friendly and helpful. We got delivery scheduled ASAP. The installation team showed up on time, they were friendly, cleaned up after themselves, and installed our new dishwasher flawlessly (and took the old one easily back out with them). Absolutely no issues with the order or installation, and we would definitely order from them again- and if you don't hear from them proactively about delivery, just give them a call and it will get sorted out right away! read more

We bought an induction range from Bray and Scarff. We had to install an outlet for the range and did so according to specifications given to us from Bray and Scarff. When the range came, their own installers could not get the range to sit flush against the wall. We had to have the outlet moved and asked B&S to simply compensate for the relocation of the outlet. They refused. Going to them instead of a Home Depot or Lowes, we expected a level of customer service that would take care of an issue like this. I have no reason to recommend this company to anybody. May 9th, 2025 Technician came out and said it needs a control board and a switch, which he told me he ordered and it should arrive within 10 days or so.. After several weeks of hearing nothing I called Bray & Scarff service. I was told the part was on back order and they would seek an alternative supplier. Several more weeks passed so I went to the store. They contacted the service department that was not responding to me. Service responded next day and scheduled a service call. Washing machine broke this morning with a full load in it. Tried several times to troubleshoot it. Decided on a new one. Called their Rockville location and spoke with kevin. Original unit that I wanted was going to take a few days to get. After a few more questions kevin offered me a floor/display unit. Not only was it bigger it was nicer then original unit I was going to buy. They included a 5 year warranty and the price was a great deal. Our experience with Bray & Scarff has been extremely frustrating and exhausting. Since December 2024 until last week, we have been dealing with nonstop dishwasher problems, and it feels like an endless cycle with no real resolution. We originally purchased a GE dishwasher, which was pouring water out from the top. The "fix" was silicone around the door by the Bray and Scarff "warranty" which was ridiculous. After 3 technicians visits the replacement GE unit then arrived with a damaged interior. Not trusting GE anymore we decided to pay more money to upgrade to a high-end 800 series benchmark Bosch dishwasher, thinking it would finally solve the problem. Unfortunately, this one turned out to be another lemon. It's only a couple of months old and already has multiple faulty electrical components. The technician from Bray & Scarff didn't even recognize the error code E-69-0 and told us, "Just use it and see what happens. what do you want me to do, take a new dishwasher apart" We were then told to call Bosch directly -- which makes you wonder why we purchased a warranty from Bray & Scarff in the first place? Bosch sent their own technician (Mr. Appliance), who took the dishwasher apart completly and spent over two hours on the phone with Bosch support, only to confirm there are multiple faulty electrical parts. Now everyone wants to replace parts on a brand-new $2,200 dishwasher instead of replacing the unit. We have missed countless hours of work waiting for technicians, made dozens of calls, and gone back and forth between companies with many emails and calls. Bray & Scarff sells the appliance but doesn't seem willing to stand behind it when things go wrong. The technicians are clueless and waste of time. This has been one of the worst appliance-buying experiences we've ever had. We did not pay for refurbished machines, and we certainly didn't expect to deal with this level of stress. Purchased a KitchenAide gas range from Bray & Scarff in Rockville, MD. Paid a $49.99 delivery charge and a $249.99 installation charge. Was given a 4 hour install time window (10am-2pm for a Friday). At 4:00pm, installer called and would be 2 more hours. At 6:30pm, we reached out to the installer... they finally rescheduled for first thing Saturday. Finally after being late on the Saturday timeframe, they arrived. During the install of the slide-in gas range, they shattered the glass front door on the new oven ... Solution by installer: Taped it up with cardboard, and said they would order a new door and was told it would arrive ASAP. It is now Wednesday (Thanksgiving eve), and NO NEW DOOR on the stove. Doesn't feel safe to cook a turkey in with a cardboard "door". Also, the installers managed to spread the broken glass bits all over the kitchen and dining room. Still sweeping up broken glass (not safe to walk barefoot) I reached out to the store sales team more than once, and have NOT received a call back... DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR WARRANTY. Their warranty department is backed up. Additionally, the technicians do not carry parts with them, even the basic and most needed parts. It took over a week for the tech to diagnose the issue, and he did not have the parts on hand to fix it. The estimated wait time for parts is 2-7 weeks. Most repair companies are able to fix the same issue within 24-72 hours. I'm extremely disappointed. They are running an unethical scam. read more

UPDATE: After the installation of the dishwasher by our plumber, we discovered that there was a bluetooth module that would allow us to use an app to operate the unit. After hours of speaking with Bray and Scarff and the manufacturer, GE, agreed to send out the device free of charge. Unfortunately, its installation required that the dishwasher be uninstalled. We spoke with the manager at Bray & Scarff who replied to our review and discussed the issue with him. He offered to pay our plumber $350 to have the dishwasher reinstalled with the module. We still have an ill-fitting dishwasher and believe that Bray and Scarff should have sold the unit with the module (or at least offered the unit to us during the transaction). He was the only person at Bray & Scarff who bothered to help us. We still believe that the way that we were treated by Bray and Scarff after the sale was unprofessional and wrong. After the module was installed, we called the manager at who issued a $350 credit to our credit card. Dear Clients, I strongly advise against making any purchases from this store. I bought a Jenn Air cooktop on November 3, 2022, and the technician did not install it properly. They acknowledged this mistake and assured me that the manager, Chris from Rockville, would follow up. As someone in the luxury service industry, I have never encountered such poor service. Over the years, my wife and I bought many appliances from this store. We were always largely pleased with the services . Howeverr we recently purchased a new wash machine and had a horrible experience. Firstly the sales representative flat out lied to us. We were assured at the time of purchase that the installers would run through a compete wash cycle at the time of installation and that they would demonstrate how to set up and start a wash cycle. They did neither. The co0nnected the machine to the water lines and left abruptly. It w3asnt helpful =that neither installer spoke English. When I called to complain about the service I was placed on hold over over 20 minutes each time until they disconnected. The delivery service manager finally shucked me off to the sales people. A salesman 6ttold me he would walk me through how to start wash cycle and suggested we read the manual. Not exactly the help we wanted. Lied to and left hanging after spending a fortune on appliances. In renovating our house we purchased multiple appliances from Bray and Scarff in Maryland (fridge, oven, stovetop). Our sales person, Mahsa, told us that they would be happy to install them all after the work was done, they would just need to come out to do a survey. They delivered the appliances as they came in during the renovation. Now that we are ready to install them we called and were told that they would not install them because they had been delivered previously (and opened by their delivery staff). Even our cooktop that was still unopened and only delivered a few days ago would not be installed. Despite what we spent they told us we're on our own, thanks for the money and no thanks to helping us with any issues going forward. Very frustrated! We bought our fridge November 22nd and were told it would take 2 weeks. It is now January 22nd and we still don't have it! Jon at the Germantown MD store was very helpful but once we paid for it that was it. We had to keep constantly email him for updates. Customer service is not just selling a product it is also making sure the client client gets it. We were scheduled for Monday 20th but since we got snow the driveway had ice. I understand that but now the delivery date is the 27th. Since we have been waiting for 2 months it should have been scheduled sooner. The purchase experience of our cooktop was ok. Installation seemed fine but we were the last stop for delivery. They did make sure the cooktop worked but did not check to see that the top drawer still slid into place. I had to saw off some of the back of the drawer to get it back into place. The Bray & Scarff service line has the WORST HOLD MUSIC EVER! Imagine you have an old-style radio with the dial stuck between 2 stations, one playing a symphony and the other playing heavy metal and you're stuck listening to it inside of a wind tunnel. Calls are placed on hold for a minimum of 10 minutes, and after several such experiences I'm convinced that B&S is hoping you'll just hang up and either give up or come in and buy a new appliance. Back for an update now that both of my new appliances have been installed. My washing machine got installed fairly quickly cause it happened to be in stock. The team that came out to deliver the washing machine came on time and were very organized. They had a great system of harnesses to wear to make it easier to take the old washing machine out and the new one in going up and down a flight of stairs. Removal of the old and installation of the new was quick. I think they were in and out within 30 minutes! Dishwasher finally got installed last week. Waited for inventory, but it appears that's happening to a lot of people. While waiting, JR was in contact several times to give me updates. Then, it was finally here and we scheduled delivery right away. It was another team that came to do the dishwasher installation. I think it took more time to take out the old one than install the new one. But it got done. The team tested it with me to make sure everything was working before they left. We have a been long-time customers of Bray & Scarff with a number of purchases through the years. In May, 2023 we purchased a GE dishwasher and a 5-year warranty. By February, 2024 the dishwasher was not working. We contacted Bray & Scarff Appliance Repair department in Laurel, MD on February 12, 2024 (only 9 months after purchase). February 19, 2024 a repair person came to our home. The dishwasher panel was not responding and the major electronic component needed to be replaced. The repair person said he would order the part. We called the Repair office a week later to inquire about the part order and we were told the part was ordered. We have called weekly thereafter. Each time the Customer Service person has promised to check on our order and each time they have failed to return our calls. We have specifically talked to Keisha and Marie several times, but neither has called to inform us of the status of our order. It is now March 29, 2024- we still have a broken dishwasher and have no information about the part, our repair, or replacement. The service people "talk a good game". I was told by Keisha that she spoke to her manager about getting the part from another vendor and would call me back. My husband spoke with Marie and was told that in order to have a replacement - the situation would have to be moved up to another level- but we have no information, absolutely nothing has been done, and there has been no resolution. This is NO customer service-- just delay tactics, empty promises, and what appears to be total disregard of requests to either repair or replace what we have purchased. This is unacceptable. If you are looking to buy a new appliance I want to give you my negative 1 star recommendation for Bray and Scarff of Rockville. Our 10 plus year old refrigerator has an auto-defroster that has failed and I called Bray and Scarff to have a technician service the refrigerator as I am not physically able to troubleshoot and fix the unit. Other than that small unit failure the refrigerator is like new and has performed flawlessly. Well I called the service department this morning and was asked if I bought the unit through them (yes I did and if you didn't they will not provide any service) and if the unit is over 10 YEARS OLD they will not service it. That is really poor and pathetic customer service and I will not under any circumstances purchase any appliance from them ever again. I have been a regular customer of Bray and Scarff for the past decade and have generally have had a good buying experience with them. All the appliances that we have replaced in the past decade has been from this business (multiple locations). At all the times, the buying process was good - the sales people that we have interacted with have been very helpful in educating us and also helping us arrive at a decision. The after sales and delivery process has been good too, for the most part. Only one occasion was the installation delayed, but that does not lower our satisfaction in the long run. Plus its a local, family owned business and supporting them is better than the big box stores! read more

I'd give them zero stars if I could. I ordered a fridge from them in April. They damaged the door when installing it, so they ordered me a new door. When they installed the new door two months later, they neglected to install a key part, so within 3 months, the water dispenser didn't work. The service person who replaced the part on the new door, to fix the water dispenser, jammed the wiring back into the door, leaving a huge welt in the NEW door. My fridge looks like I bought it on Craigslist used, even though I spent thousands on it. Additionally, we have been waiting for a part since September for a broken dishwasher that's still under warranty. Bray and scarff keeps pressing back the expected delivery date of the replacement part. Meanwhile, we have been without a dish washer for over three months. The sales people have been incredibly rude and aloof. They don't call back. The repair department is slightly better, but that's not saying a lot. I will NEVER buy from Bray and Scarff ever again. And to think that we are contemplating an entire kitchen reno. They will not be getting my business. read more

Bray and Scarff renovated my kitchen. It was a nightmare beyond belief starting with a broken $700 vase first day and it went to hell from there. They installed crooked walls, left my new dining wood floor full of scratches, mismeasured cabinets resulting in reordering, they damaged the countertop, put a hole in my hall closet for no apparent reason and a myriad of other complications and troubles. It was pure torture. If I had not been around to check their work daily it would have been worse as the problems would not have been discovered until later causing further delays. To top it off it took close to a year to finish. I used them as I have been doing business with them for 20 years. I use them for all the appliance replacements for my business. They do well in this department but renovations are not something they know anything about. The lead guy is mean and rude and punishes you if you complain. I have ordered three appliances from Bray and Scarf, two washers and one dryer. Each time I received the received the appliance and all was good and the people friendly. The last GE washer did not last all that long but that is not the fault of Bray and Scarf. This last one I actually ordered online via the store website and the other two times I went in person. Three times I have applied for the $49.95 delivery rebate that they have proffered and three times I have received nothing. The first two times really did not bother me as I had other things to do and perhaps I messed it up and I generally did not think too much about it. This time, however, I was quite determined to get my "delivery rebate" of $49.95. I focused great attention and I included the location ID, the model number, the serial number, the offer code, the delivery code and "in addition to entering the model purchased - A Delivery Code MUST be entered as a second item along with the cost of delivery." I did NOT use Safari, I used Chrome as instructed. I read all the fine print because, I decided I REALLY WANT MY 49.95 DELIVERY REBATE THEY OFFERED AND EVEN PUSH. So I started to enter the delivery code as the second item just as instructed and I discovered that there is no delivery code on the invoice. The offer is actually structured for failure. The house always wins and the consumer loses. The funny part is I would be quite happy paying the $49.95 delivery charge, I just would. In fact I am because of the false offer of a rebate. What bothers me is the disingenuous offer of a delivery rebate. I now have an established pattern and I have learned. All future purchase of appliances will be from COSTCO and I will happily pay whatever delivery charge they wish as long as they are upfront about it. read more

In these days of service horror stories on the internet, buying appliances with installation can be terrifying. We went to Bray and Scarff in Timonium. Knowing we wanted to get a new refrigerator, oven\microwave, cooktop and dishwasher our salesman, James Bump, recommended GE appliances because of their dependability and availability (post COVID). We were pleasantly surprised by the measuring and installation team that installed the appliances. All professional. They put a tent around our cooktop to catch granite dust from the cuts they needed to make to get the cooktop to fit. I am hoping that others read my review before they make the same mistake that I did. My wife and I are doing a major remodel on a home and decided to use Bray and Scarff to purchase our kitchen appliances. The sales manager, C.G., who has since moved to the Frederick, MD location has been absolutely horrible. In trying to coordinate installation, he at first did not return calls. Once we were able to reach him, the install date changed several times. The latest change has delayed the installation beyond our move-in date, so we will now be living without kitchen appliances for almost 1 week. We were informed of this 1 day before the installation date. I made multiple calls to the corporate office and was assured by the operator that someone would contact me regarding my concerns. Two days have passed and no one has reached out. So sad to see what was once a beloved family-run Washington, DC business reach new lows. I went to the Better Business Bureau to view reviews and see that I am not alone. Buyer beware - do not do business with Bray and Scarff. Sorry that 0 stars is not an option on Yelp. Update 1: So we called C.G. and demanded that the appliances get installed earlier. He said he would try. He calls back and says that we got moved back onto our move-in date except as they were loading the truck they noticed that the box for the range was damaged and therefore the range is damaged. They are now going to deliver most of the appliances on the move-in date. Other appliances will be delivered within a week. I hope. Update 2: So now off the schedule again. Unbelievable! Called B&S Delivery and found out that C.G. never scheduled us for our move-in week. All along, it had been scheduled for week after. Dishonest company with very poor customer service. read more

I have been in this store of the years and never bought anything. Possibly, because I thought they were too high, however, I would of gladly paid more for less headache than the big box stores. My kitchen in my house, I updated it and made do until I couldn't make due any longer due to a water leak that damaged the kitchen cabinets. I had a design in mind but two kitchen designers at big box stores wouldn't listen to me. I happened to walk into this store on a lunch break and met Marian Ostach the kitchen designer. I wanted a modern kitchen that added kitchen counter top space and more cabinets. Could she take on the challenge in a 1955 row home with limited space and on a strict budget? She gave me a price with custom cabinets , granite, sink and the whole thing. Seems Bray and Scarff can remodel kitchens. They pull permits, construction and builders, plumbers and electricians and stone fabricators. They do the whole nine yards. She gave me the CAD image of the kitchen and I was blown away. I got two more estimates for this remodel and with 5 in hand Bray and Scarff was in the middle. Then Covid 19 happened, and everything stopped dead in its tracks. My Shrock cabinets where on track but having them installed was a different story. It has taken 6 months from the time I signed the papers until now. Bray and Scarff built my kitchen under Covid 19 regulations. The demo team and construction team left no mess behind unlike other projects in my home. There was a delay due to a mismeasurement, Bray and Scarff took care of that expenditure. I cried the day I walked in and saw the CAD drawing become a reality. My kitchen along with the appliances are Bray and Scarff. I can't thank Ms .Ostach and her team enough. It's overwhelming to see the idea in your head become the reality you see.
