I originally requested a different repair shop through Yelp for a malfunctioning washing machine in my rental unit, but Yelp contacted several other shops with my request. APPRO contacted me through Yelp almost immediately and said they were available for the job. I waited 12 hours to hear from the shop I originally requested, but after not hearing from them, I responded to APPRO. I described the problem and gave my best guess of the cause (broken door lock mechanism.) Fred gave me the cost of their service call which was reasonable ($60, counts toward the service) and was able to send a technician that same day. They also gave me an estimate for the work assuming my guess of the problem was correct. The technician diagnosed a different, much more expensive problem of the control board being bad. I was nervous to proceed with a repair that was going to cost me $475 if it did need to be replaced- half the cost of a new washing machine. They were so confident in their diagnosis that they guaranteed it would work or they wouldn't charge me anything, including the service call. What I had seen online was the control board was also a common issue and control boards often needed a capacitor resoldered or something simple. I asked if they pulled the W/D stack out of its closet to inspect and he said no, they needed two technicians to handle the stacked W/D. This is where the great experience up to this point went south. I was not present when they arrived the next day, and before anyone gave me an update, the technicians came, swapped the control board (which solved the problem) and left. I had assumed the technicians would attempt to "repair" the original control board before resorting to replacing it. I wrote to Fred again and expressed disappointment that they didn't try to repair this very expensive part before replacing it, as I had assumed they would. He informed me that it was easier for them to replace than to repair, because repaired control boards have failed again and he's had to send two technicians back out. He also replied, "I gave you estimate for control board, we agreed and replaced. Your problem was solved. This is just extra conversation" So, 4 stars for the prompt response, the diagnosis guarantee, the quick work, and getting the job done, but not a pleasant customer service experience. read more

I highly recommend APPRO Appliance! We were having issues with our refrigerator (water leaking from the bottom) so I reached out for quotes. APPRO Appliance was quick to respond and had an appointment available the next day. Our service technician (Farid) quickly diagnosed the issue (clogged lines, which caused a build up of ice which would melt (hence the water leakage) and the refreeze again. The ice was about 1" thick in some places. He pulled out the freezer drawer, cleaned out the clogged line, cleaned up the ice, and checked the back of the refrigerator. He was very thorough, professional, and friendly. I especially appreciated the explanations he provided about the steps he was taking to resolve the issue. And thank goodness I didn't have to buy a new refrigerator! I will definitely call on APPRO Appliance again if I have any issues with any of our appliances! read more

They were great. We initially did a Yelp project for our (less than a year old) washing machine that was leaking. Tech could come right away, and very thoroughly diagnosed the problem. Update: APPRO came back and placed the washer on footpads and raised it a bit to eliminate the vibrations but still be able to use the door. There were marks made on the wall that were pointed out however they were left and not painted even though pointed out. Here is a follow-up update on my electric range stove. After it was gotten its repair... Supposedly. I could not turn on more than one heat pod from the electric range stove for a few months because it tripped my circuit breaker. Then, I had to run down to my circuit breaker box to turn its switch on again. It had never happened before its repair by APPRO. I know guys who go to houses to repair appliances are not electricians by training or a trade school. It seems like so-called "repair men" are learned over someone's shoulders--you know what that means... I'm grossly disappointed. I had to pay $450 for its repair--they do NOT know how to repair correctly and explain it, period. I had to purchase a new electric range stove for my kitchen. Believe it or not, I only pay close to $500 for a new exhibited Whirlpool electric range stove from Lowe's. Finally, please be aware of any repair people who are trying to repair anything from any appliance to anything inside and/or outside of your home. Called for a malfunctioning dishwasher door. They came out the same day, which was amazingly responsive. I agreed to their full service fee ($180) for them to open the unit up and attempt a fix. The technician was experienced and explained what they were doing along the way. While they were able to reattach a door spring they saw that the door was bent and had some other issues which would involve expensive parts to repair (the entire door assembly) meaning it's probably better to replace the whole unit. It was about a 15 minute interaction and can't really be repaired fully so I regretted agreeing to the $180 fee. When I mentioned this the technician gave me a slight discount. I would call them again based on their responsiveness and knowledge. read more

I have a dishwasher that was constantly stopping mid cycle. I contacted appro and they sent a technician for a service call fee. The technician said they couldn't identify the issue and I would have to replace the control board for $500. I told them I needed to think about it. So they put the dishwasher back together and left. Suddenly the dishwasher started working again and was running complete cycles. On one hand that's good, but on the other it seems that all that was needed was just tightening some parts, which must have happened when the technician put it back together. If I had taken their recommendation, it would have cost me $500 for something that wasn't really the problem. read more

This is a tough review to make. They showed up within an hour, diagnosed the problem, located the part, returned a couple of hours later, fixed our stove. The technician said he would provide an accesment of our dryer as part of his service call. we said okay. This amounted to taking off the front panel of the dryer and pointing out that there was lint in the cabinet and that could be hazardous and cause a fire. For $250, marked down to $200 since he was already there, he would basically vacuum out the lint in the cabinet with MY shop vacuum. I said no thanks. My wife ask for his business card, he said he had to get one from his car. Instead, he just went to the car and left. So, the repair was made, in a very timely manner, and the price was reasonable.
