I had Aptive about a year ago. I wasn't happy with the service and disliked how hard it was to cancel. They were not honest about their services when sales reps came to your door to get you as a costumer. I have a new Pest control service and I'm very happy with them. I still get Aptive Sales Managers coming to my door being very pushy and trying to get me to get service with them even after I politely say "no thank you I'm happy with my current pest control" they don't leave they continue talking and start talking negatively about other pest control companies. This post is obviously just my experience and opinion, but I feel the responsible thing to do is to share it with everyone who cares to read it. I spoke with the Aptive Area Manager at my home two nights ago about the gnat problem. Somehow, he obtained my wife's number and told her he could get rid of the gnats in our yard. Naturally, I was intrigued, so I reached out to him. He came by the house, was super pleasant, and seemed like a nice kid. I told him I only wanted the gnats gone, that I did not care about ants or spiders, etc. He said he would remove them from the treatment and they would not be affected. We talked about the service, timeline, frequency, chemicals, etc. He guaranteed they could quickly rid my yard of the gnats, and all his local clients have been with him for a long time. I readily signed up for the service, and they performed said service the following day. I was pretty happy about that. I received a text from the guy who did the service, and he provided me with a list of the insects he sprayed for. Guess what was on it... Yep, spiders, ants, earwigs, mosquitoes, and cockroaches. All the insects (except for the cockroaches) that I expressly wanted left alone. When I asked him about the treatment, he said they have one treatment, and it will kill anything that comes into contact with it. When I got home last night, I walked into the front yard and was instantly swarmed by gnats. I can't be sure, but it seemed like there were more last night than ever before. Probably my imagination. I reached out to the sales guy who came to the house. He said the elimination of the gnats is a process, not an event. Hmmmm, I thought to myself. He then said it would take 2-3 months for the process to work, and my response was they would naturally be gone in 2-3 months, so why would I pay to not get rid of the gnats for 2-3 months. So, I canceled the service today. During the call, they tried to get me to keep the service by offering an upgraded treatment that had never been mentioned before. Keep in mind the service tech said they have one treatment. Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience with anyone who cares. read more

I've seen Aptive marketing and looked like they changed their company. The door to door sales guy convinced me to switch with their 'new' management. I thought I try it again but it's an 18mo contract. After the first treatment it seems I have even more spiders and bug for some reason so I use their web app to schedule a respray. I get the txt confirmation and then they don't show! I rescheduled another through the app and yet again a no show. I had to call customer service and they said they could do it because of scheduling! Now I have to wait the original schedule date! So basically they don't do resprays if there are issues. Aptive Pest Control sent a solicitor to my house at 8:00 p.m. on a Tuesday. 8 at night, when families are getting kids to bed or simply trying to enjoy a quiet evening at home. The salesman was still making the rounds on what looked like an e-scooter as it was getting dark and launched into a very long sales pitch. The decision to send door-to-door solicitors out at 8:00 p.m. demonstrates remarkably poor judgment. And for this, I logged into Yelp for the first time in years specifically to leave this review. That's how annoyed I am. If this is how Aptive chooses to introduce itself to potential customers, I'll gladly hire someone else. If my family and I would have elected to cancel as we originally planned, it would have saved us anywhere from $800-$1200 in our pantry being overwhelmed by ants. The cancellation fee is steep at $199 and when you sign up they don't say it's a mandatory fee, but you could be charged. Company is absolute trash!! I was lied to by the sales rep that knocked on my door offering services that the company does not even provide. After speaking to the technicians and finding out that rodent exclusion services were not available, i called their office hoping to find a resolution. I was met with zero help or any alternatives to resolve the issue. They dismissed the whole fact that i was lied to and was more worried about collecting the $199 cancellation fee. I discontinued services and asked to speak to a supervisor. Again i was met with no help and a bit of hostility. I was told "Your services has been cancelled, you will not receive any more calls from us and that you will have to pay the $199 early cancellation fee. That is all." Basically i feel defrauded. I have no problem paying for the services that was provided but the cancellation fee should have been waived since i cancelled due to being lied to and the company are unable to provide the services i specifically needed. If you see anyone at your door with that Aptive shirt on just kindly slam the door on their face and tell them they are trespassing. A representative from Aptive showed up at our home and completely disregarded multiple clearly posted No Soliciting signs. He rang the doorbell several times before we finally answered. When we asked if he had seen the signs, he ignored the question and launched into a disjointed sales pitch. He appeared to be under the influence -- slurring his words, unable to stay focused, and asking personal questions like our names and when we moved in. We asked him to leave. After we shut the door, he remained outside and shouted that he would be "coming back soon," which felt like a threat. When I reopened the door to ask what he meant, he again refused to explain. When asked for his name and company, he said his name was Eli and he worked for Aptive. After the door was closed again, he began yelling profanities and personal insults at our front door, which we caught clearly on our doorbell camera -- including threats directed toward me. By the time I came outside to confront him, he had fled the scene on a hoverboard. We immediately contacted Aptive to file a formal complaint and provided them with a detailed account and video footage. We also filed a police report with our local department. Aptive acknowledged the complaint and said they would begin an internal investigation. However, more than 24 hours later, we've received no follow-up, no update, and no apology. This experience was alarming and unacceptable. Based on this and other reviews, it seems Aptive either condones or fails to control the behavior of its salespeople, who are using aggressive and inappropriate tactics in residential neighborhoods. I scheduled an initial treatment for a late appointment on 11/18/25 but they showed up earlier so i had to reschedule and also some discrepancies on the contract. Someone called me the following day on 11/19/25 to talk about rescheduling the following Saturday early in the morning and better pricing. We agreed on the contract and he said he will send a new contract soon but I did not hear back from him by Friday night. He assured me MULTIPLE times that we could do a 3 month trial because I wasn't comfortable with a longer contract without speaking to my partner. My mistake for ever trusting that would be the case. Even after I asked if the three month trial would be on the written contract and being told yes, he locked me into a 24 month contract with no mention of a 3 month trial. It's no wonder this company has lawsuits in which to deal. The kids they hire are sad. Determined but sad. He came around every half hour whether one was home or not. One of their boys roamed our neighborhood repeatedly knocking on doors at all hours, scoping our security systems, asking questions about our systems, not introducing himself, refusing to show any identification, being rude, back talking and cursing. We got a "hand gesture" at our camera. No is no--especially when there is no regard for property and livelihood. Note: this is a "Pest Control Company". He repeated that he knows he's not allowed to be here in this gated/signed community to each of us that he interrupted, but it's okay because he is "helping". Helping what--he refused to state. When told to leave, he refused. Cops had to be called by several of us. He dressed casual in blue shorts and had their company's name on his polo shirt. Of which he forgot he had on.
