Service was attentive and we were never rushed. I really enjoyed that the restaurant wasn't super crowded. There were other tables but they were far away enough that we didn't feel like we were on top of each other.

Wow. I took my family of five to Apulia last night for my wife's birthday. We had an absolutely tremendous experience!!! Every part of the dinner from the service to the food to the BYOB was superb. We started off with the Prosciutto de Parma which I highly recommend. I can still taste the fresh prosciutto! For entrees we had three pizzas and two pasta dishes. The pasta was al dente; the sauces on the pasta dishes were perfect and the ingredients on the pizzas just oozed fresh! The pizza is simply to-die-for! We topped it off with Apulia's homemade gelato desserts for which there are no words to describe. People who in these reviews complained about the price point are simply cheap or don't know great food when they get it. In the past, we have had to travel to Edgewater or North Bergen to get really good brick/coal oven pizza. Not any more. This diamond in the rough is our new go-to spot! We went in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and we were not disappointed. The staff was so friendly and accommodating in every possible way and the food speaks for itself. The manager was so warm and welcoming and did not direct us wrong with order suggestions. The arugula salad was so fresh and delicious, the octopus cooked to perfection, and the pizza was perfectly thin with the fluffiest crust while still being crispy. After taking a look at the desert menu we had to try the panna cotta, ricotta cheese case and some cappuccinos. Also perfectly done, we left very happy and full customers. The vibe is casual yet still sophisticated, so easily will be one of our regular go-tos. This is definitely a great spot for a casual date night out or a fun group dinner. The menu changes regularly though we got many of the classics that have stayed on the menu (only missing the Angry Chicken which we'll get next time). The pastas were delicious though I wish the rigatoni was a bit saucier and really enjoyed the ravioli which had a lighter, mid-summer flavor with some pine-nuts for extra texture. The ricotta bread and honey was tasty though a large portion for two people and we felt that the standout was the halibut. My only complaint is the 3% mandatory card-processing fee (which at least is prominently displayed). Please also note that this restaurant calculates tips based on the total, not pre-tax amount and the waiter tends to hover while you swipe your card which can feel a bit overbearing.

I've eaten pizza all over -- Texas, NYC (Upper Manhattan and the Bronx years back), and plenty of places in between since starting my trucking career. Back home in San Antonio we even have a so-called "NYC style" spot like Florio's Pizza, but respectfully, it's not close to what you get in New Jersey or New York. It works when you're hungry, but this was on another level. After this meal, I honestly feel like I'll critique every slice I eat going forward. When you've had the real thing, your standards shift. We walked in not knowing what to expect. Movies tend to paint a certain picture of Jersey, but that stereotype disappeared immediately. The door was opened by a friendly Jersey native who welcomed us in warmly. Being from Texas, I appreciate genuine hospitality, and that's exactly what we received. The same gentleman behind the counter took our order. Once he found out we were from Texas, his face lit up. He was all smiles, courteous, and clearly proud of the food he was serving. The place itself was quaint, quiet, and had that old-school neighborhood feel. It felt comfortable, like somewhere locals return to regularly. I asked what the most iconic or most ordered pizzas were. He mentioned pepperoni, chicken parm, vodka sauce with fresh mozzarella and prosciutto, and we ultimately chose the 18-inch Meat Lovers. We also ordered buffalo wings, cheese balls, and two Mexican Cokes. The pizza was outstanding. Pepperoni, sausage, bacon, plus two additional meats I honestly forgot because I was focused on how good it tasted. The crust was perfectly balanced -- crisp on the outside, sturdy underneath, but not dry. The sauce and cheese ratio was spot on, and the meats were layered in a way that delivered flavor without overwhelming the slice. What really stood out was that the pizza wasn't greasy at all. No oil pooling on top, no soaked-through bottom, no napkins stained orange. Each slice held its structure from tip to crust. Clean bottom. Crisp bite. Flavor forward without feeling heavy. You could actually taste the ingredients instead of just oil and salt. That level of execution makes a difference. The buffalo wings were equally impressive. Hot, fresh, and crispy with the right amount of sauce -- not drowning, not dry. They tasted like they were marinated or at least prepared with intention. They did not feel like a frozen, mass-produced product. They were balanced, flavorful, and cooked properly. The cheese balls were different from what I expected in a good way. Not the typical gooey mozzarella stick experience. These were crispy little balls with a more structured interior -- almost slightly crumbly, possibly incorporating sharper cheeses like Parmesan, Pecorino Romano, or Grana Padano in the coating. Savory and unique. What made the experience even better was the understanding that restaurants are ultimately about people. When you walk into a place, you're experiencing the individuals hired and trained to cook and serve your meal. Not everyone leaving reviews has worked in a kitchen or handled a rush, and that context matters. When I leave a review, it's my honest opinion, and here the staff clearly cared about quality and execution. Starting my trucking career has allowed me to travel and try places I otherwise wouldn't. Some spots are hits, some are misses, and some simply aren't my preference. This was a clear hit. We only had a small window of time while waiting on a nearby load, but it turned into one of the best food stops I've had. The atmosphere, the pride, the quality, and the lack of shortcuts were evident. Late post because driving kept me busy, but this one deserved recognition. Piscitelli Pizza & Pasta delivered one of the best pies I've had in my lifetime. I'll gladly return the next time I'm running through North Jersey.
