The person who came was not particularly professional, did not test. The water was very upset when I asked him for more time as I saw some negative reviews and I would like to research more I noticed that he responds to all of the negative reviews, very defensively, which is also a red flag. A professional business should not have to do something like that, she also told me that there were no such thing as a salt, free purifier and softener there was a reverse osmosis that some cases can work in general. i am a former employee of Aquascience I worked for the current owner, who has been the owner for decades., I was a technician that started out in the field at 21 years old. i came on board with no experience at all. I was lucky enough to know the owner's parents, and his Dad took me under his wing, and they insisted on me being nothing short of "Excellent". This is a business that cares, and they are understanding of people's needs, and their financial capabilities. I was always taught to excel, and learn . Being raised also to be your best, I got certified in being a Water Quality Association Certified Specialist, a Certified Salesman, and was a very efficient Installer. My call back record was like next to less than 2 % of every repair, install, service or troubleshooting call I performed. That was the type of knowledge and thoroughness that was expected, and I went on to learn in other areas of water, when i moved to other areas, such as Water well Drilling, Pump Service, Plumbing , Heating, Waste Water, and Appliances.- But my journey started and I built my foundation thanks to the Grandeau family, who treated me like their own. I can honestly say , 35 years later, that this company was the place that gave me the knowledge, the ability, the confidence, and a career in the Water Industry, and I remember many nights spent out at affilate groups, like the Orange County Association of realtors , and going to large functions to show the public who we were, and to invest our time in our community. I know that is who they are. I often think about Barry, and Pearl, who were Stephen's parents, and at one time, during my employment years, were involved in the business in their Southern Hudson Valley area. I learned to be confident team player, and to put the customer first. We were bound to ethical principles that I still adhere to today. I was welcome in Stephen's parent's home, and continued my relationship for most of the rest of their lives. I often would pick up a Professional Water Treatment Periodical at any stage of my own career, and see a showcase story on the amazing Education and Business Respect of Stephen Grandeau, who educated himself way beyond his usual scope of practice, so I bet if you would like to make Computer chips in your basement in your spare time, and need Dionized or water that leaves not a single micrometer of residue, water and Cooling tower treatment, he could even do that. You won't need that, but he could do that for you. Realistically, call Stephen up at AquaScience in Clifton Park, NY, and ask him how a water softener works. I promise you'll get a scientific lesson in Cation Exchange resin, water flow rates, and what most major brands of softener valves are capable of performing, and in what specific treatment needs . I guarantee you'll get taught information you'd need $850 a credit and acceptance to College to obtain. You'll probably make it to about the second minute when you decide that you only need to know that HE knows. You'll get much of the same from his employees, and I know because- I got my knowledge of Water Treatment there, and had customers tell ME I could stop my lesson in say , how chlorine has only 7 electrons in the outer ring, making it a great oxidizer, always looking to take on another electron.... LOL. See if you find THAT at a big box store, or I challenge you to show me ANY Big box store systems that last like the ones sold at Aquascience. I've pulled systems 35 years old, still working.. \ I think my point has been made. I had a problem with my softener system last year at the same time and waited 2 weeks waiting for a tech appt. Meanwhile I had hard water. This year it broke again, almost to the day, and will be waiting a month for an appt. No apology was offered by the office person and she was defensively saying it's to be expected that it would break down. I suspect the long wait for service is because the equipment keeps breaking down, keeping techs busy. The only good thing about the company are the techs who are polite and seem to know what they are doing. I wish I had not bought this system from Aquascience as their equipment is faulty and customer service is below par. read more

Where do I even begin... I had a nearly identical experience as another reviewer. We bought our house 2 years ago & we were intentionally deceived on existing water problems. It was so considerate of the sellers to lie about the water problems just so we'd be tricked into buying. I can honestly say that if they were forthcoming about the water we would've ran the other direction! The problems with the water are beyond an inconvenience at this point. I'm not saying we are expecting an unlimited amount of water at our disposal, but it would be nice to be able to take a shower, run the dishwasher, or washer or add water to our pool. All of the above we can not do. Water is not a luxury, it is A vital necessity to sustain life. Our current well is very deep, there is very little water, & the water that does come out is slimy, oily, & the smell is horrendous!! Our toilets have disgusting black residue in the backs. I'm assuming inside our pipes looks the same. We called several companies to try and resolve the issue of the smelly, slimy water. Steve from Aquascience gave us a decent price so we made the mistake of going with him. We paid over $3200 for them to install a charcoal system to treat the waters issues. From day 1, the system has not worked. We were adding water and bleach to their tiny jug every other. The water still smelled. We called and were met by the most obnoxious, condescending woman ever who basically has done nothing to help but instead has blamed US for every single thing that's has not worked or gone wrong. We've had several other companies come in and review their "work" and each one has given the same conclusion. The system is totally wrong and not appropriate for our house. Do not waste your $$ because they only care about getting your $$ & after they do they could care less!! read more

We bought a house that has smelly water. Steve the owner came out and sold us a unit to fix the problem with the words "If this doesn't work we will make it right". After installation, it didn't work, so about every two weeks for months we tried other things per Steve's request. Once an office staff answered and said well the unit you have doesn't fix that problem. So i said why would Steve install it. She had no comment. Nothing worked for more than a couple days. Then he said I'm sending someone out to fix it. We'll there fix was putting chlorine in the system every other day. I know that's not the answer. A week later he sent us a bill for his employee coming to the house. He now will not return calls or emails. read more

Aquascience has been assisting us for many years with a recurrent issue on our water system. I have been able to assume much of our diagnostics/repair needs, having learned more about the system and its operation during their visits. Admittedly, they have been helpful. Well, it became time to replace a 'wear' item. I called Aquascience and was told they had the part at a cost of ~$300.00. After purchasing it (unfortunately 'AFTER') I did a web search with the part ID # in hand. Turns out I could get THE EXACT SAME part for ~$120.00 including delivery cost. I had yet to open the sealed plastic wrap of the Aquascience part, yet was told I could not return it. I was told they have a "no return/refund" policy and in fact, that is printed right on the receipt. Assuming they can get a volume cost on the part much less that what I was quoted online, I am not surprised they would have a "no return" policy. I would too if I was charging a price that effectively gave me a likely 300% profit margin. So all I can say is IF you are purchasing from Aquascience be certain that 1) you REALLY need the part because you will apparently be grossly overcharged for it and will be refused any return, and 2) consider giving an online source your money if you dislike being overcharged. I give Aquascience an "A" for service. I give them an "F" for overcharging. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. We are not happy with the fact that they told us they don't guarantee their own work, and parts of a fairly recent/new system that was installed is already not functional due to poor quality equipment. Add on the fact that their service charges are high, and techs are extremely uncommunicative, to the extent that we could never get a straight answer to any questions at all on the water system... well, it wasn't a hard decision to find another company when the water system from them stopped working all together. When you add the fact that the owner or whoever does their social media will sit and argue, make excuses, and be condescending towards customers about the obvious issues with their service instead of try to find any sort of resolutions, this would never be a company that I would give any positive recommendation for. I hope they can learn that sometimes the "costs of running a business" is learning to take criticism and improve your business practices. read more

I am very much surprised at the reviews posted here. I'm not disputing their experience or opinions. I just got outstanding service from Steve and his team. My local well-drilling company did a series of services to address a well with occasional low yield. Each procedure caused a bigger, more expensive problem. They first replaced the contact tank. That didn't fix the problem. They recommended hydro-fracking, which increased the flow but left the water full of sediment. They then asked for $8,000 to install a filter to solve the problem they caused. After calling up probably half a dozen companies over a three month period and getting some serious upselling pressure and erratic, if non-existent, customer service, Steve personally came to my house, assessed my current system and designed a solution for my problem that worked with the equipment I already had and saved me thousands of dollars. I was on the verge of paying between $6,000 to $8,000 and having extensive work done to my water system. Aquascience installed a sediment filter AND a new tank for a little over $2k. Just on the savings alone I am wholeheartedly recommending Steve. But Steve and his team, on top of it all, were extremely attentive and responsive. After getting burned by the first company, I asked about a thousand questions and got as much detail about the proposed procedures. Steve patiently answered each question, better than that, he answered each phone call and gave thoughtful answers to each question and even taught me a thing or two about my system that I didn't know. Bought my first home and went into discuss the UV light system that was at my house with their team. They were very insightful telling me about my system. I purchased a quartz sleeve and bulb for my system. The next day we decided not to use the current system and remove it because it was not necessary. Went back the following week to return bulbs and quartz sleeve (both factory sealed) with receipt and was told promptly they do not take ANYTHING back. I asked the woman at the desk where this return policy was stated and she pointed to a sign out of direct sight from the cash register. Frustrated I asked why the sign was near the register and she said "because the cats knock it over there." She was helpful and contacted the manager who called me to discuss. I explained my situation to which point he replied they can't make an exception because it's company policy (these are independently own stores) and how by NYS law they are not required to take anything back, but if I wanted to upgrade my system he would take them back and give me credit. So..... they can take them back just not for a refund. As a store manager of a retail chain I can tell you this is not appreciated or respected management. Consumer beware. read more

Chad was very accommodating, got everything running smoothly, showed me how to reset it if the power goes off, hauled all of my salt to the basement. We used aqua science water solutions for approximately 2 years with nothing but problems. For the first year they were at our house at least once a month to correct something. We gave up after a while and lived with the old wore out equipment. We couldn't drink out water! Had to purchase a water cooler and have water delivered! We were sold equipment we didn't need and were treated terrible by the owner Steve.He is rude and condescending beyond belief. We bought our own system and installed it ourselves. After calling him to come pick up his equipment the battle was on. He is the most unprofessional business person we have ever dealt with. I wouldn't recommend his services to anyone, ever! read more

ABSOLUTE PIECES OF CRAP !!!!...NO CONCERN FOR THE CUSTOMER !!!!....I needed a new Water Softener system, so I went to see this company...They seemed reasonable, so I agreed to purchase a system. They told me they would install the new system & remove the old tanks the next afternoon, at 1 PM. The manager asked for my credit card number, as a convenience for ME, saying he would charge the card AFTER installation !!!...That afternoon, I received notification the company charged my card BEFORE installation !!...The next day, THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP !!!...After the scheduled time, they called me & said my unit "hadn't arrived"...SO, they charged my credit card for a system they KNEW THEY DIDN'T HAVE !!!...A man came the next day, installed the system, BUT couldn't take the old tank away, because he was alone & it was too heavy !!!...Apparently, they didn't plan on this...The man said he & another man would return the next day, between 8 AM & 10 AM, to remove the old tank. They had not shown up by noon, so I called & was told the workman were out on a call and they "HOPED" to be to me before closing time !!!...They couldn't have cared less I had waited all morning for them !!!..When the men finally showed, they were rude & obnoxious !!!...Never spent any time informing of how my new system worked, merely demanded I sign a receipt. Then one snidely said: "THANKS A LOT"....You buy from these IDIOTS & you'll get what you deserve !!!!! read more

I have a water system for sulfur and clay from Aquascience. When the system was installed the workers didn't have the pex cutter so the installation took longer than expected since they didn't have the proper tool. A few weeks after the installation, we noticed a slow leak in the drain pipe which stained the floor. We called them to come back to fix it. The worker looked at it and said there had been a mistake made during the pipe installation and to fix it he had to drain the tank. The tank contains chlorine mixed with the water. They didn't bring the pump with them to drain the tank through a hose so they decided to carry buckets of bleach water up our hardwood stairs to dump the water since we don't have a sink in the basement. I was alarmed when I saw them doing that and I called Steve the owner. I asked why someone doesn't bring the pump to our house so the tank could be drained without carrying buckets of bleach water through our house. He was extremely rude and talked over me. He interrupted my questions and asked me to have his worker call him. One of his workers ended up driving to the office to pick up the pump. I asked Steve if the stain on the floor would be cleaned up. He said they would do their best. I would not recommend this company because Steve is so rude and the workers came to our house twice without the proper tools for the job. read more
