Enrolled my daughter for swim lessons this past Sept - Oct. my lil one started in the tadpole class at 3 years old, after maybe 2 classes the instructor felt she was ready for starfish level. As we transitioned her, I had to prep and let her know mommy is not able to go with her in the water as she is starting a "big girl" class. First time I stayed with her on the side as she got use to being in the new class. Each week got better, she was comfortable with the instructor and I was able to relax in the viewing area. Aquatech is great, the instructors are friendly and patient, front desk staff is professional. I plan on re-enrolling my daughter again in February. read more

My kid is at the Seahorse class and they have 4 kids per instructor. He barely gets anything done because they have to take turns. In addition, they always finish the class about 5 min early. 25 minutes divided by 4 kids?? Not enough. They should keep the class 2-3 kids maximum! We've been so happy with our children's swimming lessons at AquaTech. We started them in the Tadpoles class, where parents join their babies and toddlers in the water. We were happy with the lessons, which helped make them both comfortable in the water. They've moved up to Starfish, and we've enjoyed watching their progression (from the bleachers now!). I thought they'd be nervous without us, but they seem to really like their teachers, so it's never a problem to get them in the pool. The facility is clean, convenient, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for swimming lessons for their children. read more

She was our first swim teacher, and she made us feel welcome and also gave us so much exceptional training and fun. I credit Aquatech for the confidence they gave our twins in the water. They've been enjoying the last two years of lessons, learning to be comfortable in the water, safety skills, and basic swim skills. Things we love: - Indoors!! No sunscreen, no weather closures, no excuses - Friendly!! From the moment you walk in the door, the staff is always smiling and welcoming - Teachers actually teach!! I know it seems like teachers should always teach, but in my experience that's not always the case. Here the teachers seem invested in the kids' success. We love this place!! We got a groupon and decided to try it out for our daughter. She's only a year old, but we wanted her to get familiar and be comfortable in the water. The instructors and the other staff are all very friendly and helpful. We've learned a lot about how to teach our daughter water safety. My husband, baby and I LOVE Aquatech Swim School! We've been coming here since our boy was about 4 months old for baby swim and couldn't be happier. We love the gender neutral family changing rooms, the children's play area, and the cafe! Plus, they keep your card on record so when you show up with baby and swim gear in your arms you don't have to fumble for your wallet. The place is very clean and the staff are incredibly friendly. The drop in baby swim sessions are great for busy parents who never know when they'll have time. It's a tad pricey, but I'd rather pay a bit more for a great place and great staff! We did a groupon thing for a beginner series of classes...yes, it feels like our kids are being herded like cattle...so many kids, such a small pool (for the number of people in it), but plenty of instructors who seem to know what they are doing and seem pretty good w/ kids. I think the instructors are the most important element, so they earn the 3 stars...the fourth star for the price which can't be beat. They have teaching young kids to swim set up like a factory line...and it seems to work. I know a lot of kids get fussier, the more you fuss with them..so for many, a program like this works, where they are expected to do what they are told...and not babied. This is also a place where the policies suck, but a one to one chat with a worker seems to always fall in your favor. read more

Their policy is very flexible, they always offer make ups for missed classes (you only have to let them know before 9 am on the same day), they always can find a spot if you need to change date and time of your class, they have many time options for all levels. The coaches take their very seriously - parent can always request a progress report for their kids, to see how they are doing and what they should work on, and if they are ready to move to the upper level, but they will never let the student move to the upper level if the student doesn't perform 100% the set of skills which are taught at his/her current level. Also, the coaches really make sure that the student's technique is perfected enough to move on to the next level - they don't promote kid just because the parents and/or kids ask them to do so. In addition, the first trial class is free, and the monthly tuition is very reasonable. My 7yo son has been attending Aquatech Swim School in Concord for 3 years now and I would certainly recommend this swim school to those who are looking to have their kids learn a good swimming technique in a friendly positive environment. I remember when this pool used to be used for scuba dive training and now my son learned to swim in it. Very happy with the school so far the instructors are very engaged and safety conscious. Its easy to set up class times and check in. There are plenty of showers and cubby spaces and I like the bleachers to watch. I purchased a Groupon good for 4 weeks. I used the Parent Portal to try to sign up my 6 yr old for classes, but all of my requests were denied via email without an explanation. The email instructed me to call for an explanation. It took 3 weeks of calling to finally get someone on the phone to explain why my requests were denied. I was then told I could not use the Groupon for my 6 yr old because he was not a new student. (His last lesson with Aquatech was in Feb 2015.) That's their policy and I understand, so I signed up my 2 yr old for Tadpole lessons using the Groupon instead. I was never able sign up my 6 yr old for classes because every single class was full! Seems like they oversold their services with the Groupon deal. Checking in was easy and the front staff was nice and pleasant. What I did find odd was when we checked in on our first day, we weren't given any instructions on what to do or where to go next. Was I supposed to ask? They didn't ask if I knew what to do or where to go. Perhaps they were too busy talking about their weekend to give us full instructions. There was no announcement over the intercom to line up for classes. We were never given instructions any at of our other check-ins either. I felt like a cow in the herd. My 2 yr old's lessons went fine. He hated it at first (as expected) and was fine towards the end. His instructor was great and she was really patient with him. The place was clean and there were plenty of changing rooms available. There are showers to rinse off afterwards. Be sure to check the water temp before rinse though. The guy who turned on the showers last week couldn't be bothered to the check the temp and let kids rinse off in scalding hot water. During our last lesson, there was an instructor doing laps in the lane next to the Tadpole class. He didn't have any students and looked like he was just killing time. He made huge splashes and waves a bit too close the the Tadpole class full of babies! I was standing with my son in my arms about 4 feet from the divider and got hit with a huge splash on my face. I was stunned and caught off guard. Yes, I'm in a pool. Yes, I expect to get wet. But I do not expect to get drenched by an irresponsible instructor in the lane next to me and my child. I do expect better judgement and common sense by swim instructors who are in a pool full of children. I felt his actions were unsafe and stupid. I had a wonderful experience with Aquatech in the past (2013-2015). I've recommended lots of families to Aquatech over the years. The customer service has really gone downhill. The current staff seems lazy and disinterested in doing their jobs thoroughly. On the day of our last class, we were not asked if we wanted to continue lessons. You got us in there with a Groupon, wouldn't it make sense to try convert us to full paying customers right then and there? Where's the follow up? My recent experience has been frustrating and disappointing and we won't be returning. read more

The facilities are nice, clean, and parent friendly. The staff is very sweet and welcoming. We really enjoyed going to babyswim during their open swim hours until our baby was 7 months old. I was a competitive swimmer, synchronized swimmer, water polo player, and surfer and have been working in early intervention for over 10 years so i took it upon myself to get our baby comfortable in the water with songs and play on our own schedule instead of trying to make a 30 minute slot with an infant on an infant sleep and nursing schedule. At 7 months we decided to try lessons through a groupon even though we had done a trial lesson at another indoor pool that we really liked several months earlier. Well we were really disappointed. The pool is filled with classes, there are at least 6 other sets of parents and children in our class and some kids are two years old, the instructors have been different every time, the instructors don't seem to have any knowledge of child development including physical development and what is and isn't appropriate for their joints ; for example they wanted me to hang my 7 month old from rings having her support her full body weight and swing her around without supporting her wrists or even the knowledge that I should and then wanted me to have her practice climbing out of the pool, standing, and jumping back in....it's basically a parents baby group with random "now it's time for x, go ahead and try it for 5 minutes or anything else you want to do and here's a squirt toy" and two group songs. I would absolutely NOT pay full price for this. There is no water safety, instruction on how to hold your baby, instruction on how to do gentle submersions, there's absolutely no goal that you're working towards or any feedback... read more

I'm baaaacckk! My 7 year old just finished his first summer of swim team, and is now an Eel. They basically go the entire length of the pool and practice freestyle and backstroke. I am hoping he improves his strokes soon and moves up to Tigershark because he needs to really work on his butterfly and breaststroke. I love his instructor Bethany. She is loud and corrects his every stroke, which is a huge PLUS for me. My 3 year old just moved up to Seahorse level, after completing Starfish in a matter of a month. The staff is still super friendly, and it's not too crowded. I'd recommend this place if your child wants to swim year-long. The annual fee is waived if you are a Veteran, and they also give you a $5 discount. Yay! read more

I am incredibly satisfied with this swim school. In four short weeks, my little guy went from screaming at the top of his lungs in the pool, to splashing around like a fish! The staff was very patient with him and even allowed me to stand by the door in the beginning to help him out. He's had four teachers (two from make-up days and two from different levels he's been in), and while each of them has their own unique approach with the children, they've all been kind, encouraging, and provided the critique he needs to learn how to swim freely on his own. The front staff has been equally great, as they know him and other children on a first name basis. They also helped to cheer him on when he made it to the next level! It's rare that someone picks up the phone when I call, and it's slightly annoying have to leave messages vs. talking to a representative, but they always call back the same day and in a reasonable time frame. I wish I could give them 0 stars. My son and daughter attended Aquatech for many years and we referred may families there. Then a child the facility knew as unruly kicked my daughter in the head during class, giving her a serious concussion such that she couldn't walk in a straight line the following day and had headaches for weeks. From the workers to the owner, no one cared to do anything and simply cancelled our enrollment when I complained. I wanted private lessons since I feared for her safety, but they did nothing and the owner argued that she seemed fine at the time. Despite providing doctor's proof of the severity of her concussion, they were uninterested. AVOID AT ALL COSTS since they do not care about your child's health and safety!!! read more

My 7 year old son goes to Aquatec swim school, he really enjoys it and has learned to swim very well within the past 10 months. They are flexible on hours and with a indoor pool its always heated. My kid swam at this pool for over three years. At the beginning he learned quickly and progress noticeably. But then all learning comes to a halt and this is why: Classes are 30 minutes long and there are four kids per class. Only one kid swims at the time, while the other three wait on a platform for the turn. This means that your kid only swims for about 7 minutes, once a week. Now that my kid is five, he finds the classes extremely boring. Every class is basically the same, the same routine, and of course the same waiting. In three years, I haven't seen any changed or improvement to the curriculum. Teacher are not well train to deal with active kids. My son, while he is waiting for his turn, has been told NOT to splash or submerge his head in the water. What do they want him to do? Just watch the other kids? Management does not listen to suggestions. I brought up the issue of idle time multiple times, even proposing specific suggestion on how to constantly engage the kids during the class. Conclusion: Good pool to get your kids to be familiar with a pool. Get them to another school if you want them to be engaged and learn to swim. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. Their website allows you to schedule in advance. However there are a lot of errors associated with this imperfect system. Four times now I have scheduled a class, only to show up and have them tell me that, no I do not have a class. Even after displaying my email confirmation of the class, I was still rejected. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. There was never any attempt to compensate me financially, even after I asked for this. We are paying $140 a month. It's a total rip-off for this type of customer service. Stay away. read more

Two daughters learning to swim 4 and 7 they have progressed through Starfish beginners to ell and goldfish. Most important we feel safe with them around water, yes it cost us 300 a month for 3 month, but the staff is awesome we are hooked going to do three more months. In my opinion, Aquatech is basically for beginners (if you are starting to just learn how to swim). I am 59 and I already knew how to swim, ( I swim every morning at the Y), I just wanted to refine my stokes a little. The people at Aquatech in Concord are very nice but In my opinion the instructors I received ONLY KNEW THE BASICS. So if this is what you are looking for, (just the basics,) then this might be the right place for you. I was signed up for a class in which I was told was an intermediate class but when I showed up it was a beginners class. Since there are no refunds and I could not get my money back - I decided to try again with individual instructions to use up the credit I had. So I gave them another chance but as I had mentioned before the instructors only knew the basics. In my opinion, If you need to refine your strokes, then I would look into another place such as the Y because at Aquatech in Concord they had no clue on how to improve swimming strokes as I said they only knew the basics - but the people were very nice. I decided to try the YMCA for lessons and they were fantastic. Their instructors knew how to refine my strokes so I could swim more effectively and enjoy a workout without getting tired. I now swim longer and more efficiently. Swimming for an hour is no sweat now once I learned all the little extras that go into stroke refinement. In my opinion one star when trying to refine your strokes. read more

I bring my infant here and he loves it. I would give 5 stars, but there are some cons. Pros: - very clean - super warm water! - friendly staff Cons: - no lockers (you have to put your stuff in a cubby hole that everyone has access to, and I often have my purse with me that I feel uncomfortable leaving unattended. With kids under 3, you have to get in the pool with them during lessons, so I have no other option to store my stuff). - dressing rooms should have doors instead of curtains...the curtain never closes all the way, and there are men walking around, makes me a little uncomfortable when I'm changing. - need towel hooks to hang towel in pool area - pricing is a little weird. There is no incentive for signing up for the annual membership unless you'll be using the pool more than once a week. For kids under 3, it is more cost efficient to skip the classes, and just do the family swim (only avail on weekends) where you can do the same exercises with your child that you would in the class. read more

Aquatech is great!! It's the only swim school that I know that allows drop in lessons which gives flexibility to moms with inconsistent schedules. There are different levels of classes starting from tadpoles (6 months). Both my 2 and 4 year old comes here for lessons and they love it! The water is warm and the staff is friendly. They even have a nice little play area for before and after the class. My only complaint is how quickly the classes book up. You can only book one week in advance and especially on Fridays it's almost impossible to get my sons signed up for an open lesson. read more

Very disappointed when I showed up to find they no longer offer their monthly family swim, $30 for us. But now only offer drop in at $15 per day. That's crazy expensive if we were to use it weekly. Of course my kids lobes swimming, I just wish that parents didn't suck. They hover around the door, waiting for their kids to come out. No one else can then see their kids. They stash their stuff in the changing rooms to hold them, thus preventing people from using them. Overall, the parents are the problem. They are selfish and rude. Also, apparently they bring their sicknkids, as my kid and his friend got pink eye from the pool (although the pool should apparently be calibrated better). It is also hard at times to schedule make ups. But, like I mentioned, my kid likes it. Some instructions are also obvious better than others. Just wish there were fewer parents. read more

I love coming here with my baby girl. We started when she was 6 months old and now she's turning 1 year old. She loves taking baths so I wanted to get her started early on swimming lessons. One less safety thing to worry about when she gets older. Anyways, I love how they start teaching the babies the basics of swimming and even safe ways on how to get in and out of the pool. My son LOVED his first swim class at Aquatech last week! What a difference from our last swim lesson experience at an outdoor community pool last summer. My son cried and clung to me during those lessons. The set up at Aquatech with the safe and secure "stalls" for the kids, small class sizes and appropriate instruction for each child was perfect! After class, my son told me he LOVED his class and he LOVED his teacher. My little guy just started the Starfish class for nervous beginners. I could see the instructor working on some very important skills with him right away, but not pushing too hard on the first day. I also loved the high-fives after each exercise. That was a great way to connect with my son and reinforce his efforts. Beautiful and clean building/pool. Makes a great impression on families. The day after his first lesson he woke up and asked when the next lesson would be! read more

My daughter doesn't want to dunk her head. I realize it's her issue and as a family we are working on it. You can really swim without getting wet. I wish they could encourage her more to do that. The base for a great school is there, just a needs a final touch. 1. The kids are crowded on one side of the pool, while the further away side is empty. 2. Some instructors use helping aid, which doesn't really help the kids, 3. To much showing and not much hands on, where the instructor should actually move the arms and legs of the kid in order for them to understand the movement. Just showing bunch of toddlers what to do is not enough. 4. Very impersonal, since the kids get a number on their hand and never know the name of their teacher. Suggestion in this case would be to go to Ms Xxx,who is team red and create connection between kids and instructor. There are few other points that are not perfect, but just listed the major ones. read more

We've been going a year and we love it! My b/g twins will turn six in May. We have a community pool but when my kids were four my son wouldn't put his face in the water while my daughter couldn't swim enough which made it pretty hard on me. Aquatech has a one-month only session so I thought that might help to go in April before our community pool opened May 1st. Within a week his face was in the water and my kids have both gone up three levels in a year. I think the warm water is an enormous help and I love the safety (several lifeguards walking around and just watching everyone in addition to the low ration of 1 to 4). I recommend Aquatech whenever I can. For me, one of the biggest points is the ability to reschedule. When my kids were three and we went to the YMCA for a six-week course, one cold and they were both out for 1/2 the class! Aquatech lets you reschedule and "rolls over" your classes to use when you can. In this season of colds and flu, well, you get it. This place is the best! read more

Our 3 year old loves taking lessons at Aquatech in Concord. The facility is new and and the water is kept at a very nice temperature. The instructors are great and very patient. Our son has become really confident in the water. He likes going under water to retrieve rings and is learning the proper way to kick his legs. The facility offers lessons in the morning which is very convenient for children not yet in school. Our 7 year old, who normally takes lessons at Aquatech Alameda, took private lessons in Concord with Jesse over spring break . He absolutely loved it and was able to work on things needed to get to the next swim level. read more
