I would give Jeremy Hernandez, Red Cross CPR / First Aid teacher at Aquatic Solutions, 10 stars if I could! Today, my 13 year old son and I renewed our CPR / AED / First Aid Certification, with Jeremy Hernandez as our teacher. This is about the fourth time in 10 years I have taken such a class, though the first time at this location. It was the second time for my son. We both agreed it was waaay more comprehensive, entertaining, and educational than the prior class, most of that is due to the exemplary teaching of Jeremy. He was thorough, efficient, and covered everything, but also down to earth in being very matter of fact about what sort of situations could arise. He was also pretty funny at times, which was a welcome relief considering the rather grim scenarios we were studying. I should add he was very open to any sort of questions, plus was diplomatic and gracious in explaining to my 13 y.o. son how to proceed with certain situations (everyone else in the class was an adult). I would absolutely recommend taking the course at this location if you can possibly arrange for Jeremy as your teacher. (FYI: Our GoogleMap was way off base in providing directions to the site from the closest subway, so definitely allow yourself extra time to get there.) Why take this course? Once my son started swimming and diving on teams, I became a certified lifeguard; once he was old enough to take the Red Class courses, we started doing it together. Actually, I think EVERYONE ought to take these courses, since the world might be a kinder and gentler place if more people did. read more

I took a Adult/Pediatric/First Aid/CPR/AED class in New York City on Wednesday June 21, 2017. This is not about the instructor, who I would say was professional and knowledgeable. This is about the management that day. My class was a small class, and on that day, Aquatic Solutions decided to book several classes of different levels around the same time which created massive confusion. My class began with one instructor who was abruptly removed and placed to teach another class. The next instructor was good and the issues aren't related to him. During the course of my class, several people would come in to take yet another CPR prop from our room. We were left with one child dummy, which someone came in and tried to take as well. The mismanagement affects the quality of education. Constant interruptions from people to get equipment for other classes was a rude distraction. I understand this pathological need to make money, but seriously, just because my class was small (4 people), doesn't mean we should be ignored and given poor service. The icing on the cake is that it has been 3 days and I have yet to get my certificate. I'm not even registered on the Red Cross website. Honestly, I want to give 1 star, but did factor in the instructor, who was professional and had to deal with mismanagement from his company, so I give two stars. The Red Cross should offer classes again. Contracting out sounds good on paper, but in practice, isn't executed properly. Waste of time and money. read more

I highly recommend Aquatic Solutions for Red Cross Lifeguard & CPR/First Aid Certification. My son just took a class with Mo, Anthony, and Emil as the instructors and we were very impressed. They offer many different class schedules and formats. We chose a three day in a row session, with an online component that had to be completed in advance. This was perfect for a long weekend when he had no school on Monday. All three instructors were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They gave the class so much good advice including "always arrive to your shift 15 minutes early" so that there is time to change into your uniform and be ready. I also really liked the location. It is on the Lower East Side, just south of Houston Street, in a huge complex of buildings, and is very easy to get to by car, train or bus. I am so glad we went with Aquatic Solutions. Rosalie, who I believe is the manager, is also a delight. She even helped me to locate my son's lost towel and swim trunks! Everyone went above and beyond. I was so impressed. read more

I had rented out the yoga room over this weekend to throw a surprise birthday party for my best friend and it was such a success! We drank, played music and games. Everyone collectively cleaned together when it was time to leave. The space: It is newly renovated - super clean and bright. It had more than enough space for 20 grown adults to freely move around. One side we set up a photo booth to take pictures in and the other side was to chill and play games. Accommodations: I didn't expect much since I'm renting solely the space. However they had a generous amount of tables which came in very handy. I was able to borrow 5 tables. They were also able to lend us their manual balloon pump which saved us a lot of time. Overall, I was very happy with this space and that everything turned out perfect! I highly recommend anyone that is looking to rent the space to host an event or anything!! read more

Shout out to Derrick who taught me to swim within like 30 mins of my first lesson!! I wouldn't have considered myself a beginner but I definitely wasn't an intermediate swimmer. Any fears I had about the water were made nonexistent with him. I felt very safe and when I did panic, he was right there. It didn't matter if we were in 10 feet or 4 feet, he was always right next to me. On my second or third lesson I swam to 10 ft. After 5 lessons I can swim well enough to be in 10ft without any floaties. Never thought I'd learn to swim,  especially as an adult but Derrick & his organization made it possible. Andy and the team at Aquatic Solutions are just what you need to get all of your lifeguard/first aid/cpr/ and instructor certifications. I am the lifeguard manager at a beachfront in Queens. We send all of our lifeguards to Aquatic Solutions to get their Red Cross certifications or to recertify including the waterfront training. The classes are often small and always hands on to offer the best learning experience no matter if you're just beginning lifeguard training or a veteran looking to update the certs. Today, I took my very first CPR class at the Anchor Inn location in Bayside, NY. My instructor Frances was as energetic as she was informative. The fact that the class was hands-on interactive with the manikins was AWESOME! Learning how to actually perform the skills was better than just reading off a slideshow presentation. I enjoyed the class very much. For work, I am a professional babysitter, so I now feel more confident than ever to handle any emergency that might occur during my work shift with my children, as well as any emergency outside of work. Overall, I enjoyed this class with Aquatic Solutions and hope to take another class again in the future. read more

I took the Adult/ Pediatric First Aid/CPR/ AED course this past Sat in Naugatuck w/ instructor Juan(out of the Freeport Office). I havent taken a course like this yrs so I was a little anxious( not a good test taker lol) But right away Juan was friendly, helpful and professional. He also spoke spanish, which was very helpful for explaining things. I feel like I def got my money worth. I learned a lot and had fun doing it! Took the instructor First Aid/CPR/AED certification course to be able to certify other people under Andy who is the owner of Aquatic Solutions. Andy was an outstanding instructor and truly practiced what he preached. I learned a ton over the 2 day course and feel much more comfortable in my skills in FA/CPR/AED than I did with previous instructors I had in the past. I found a listing on the American Red Cross's website last year out of curiosity of what classes I could take post-college... I found the Instructor course and thought that'd be a great class to try... Turned out to be the best certification class I could've taken! This summer, my university gave me funding to complete a community service project. I took the CPR/AED/lifeguarding course through Red Cross and took all the CPR and in-water lessons at Aquatic Solutions. My instructors were Thalia, Rafael, and Irene; full heartedly recommend all three. We were a smaller class and therefore got more time per participant with each lesson, and the instructors were extremely helpful and kind. This is an incredibly serious and important course, and the instructors were very professional while also making it a fun time. I took the CPR/AED/First Aid for adults and pediatrics today with Jeremy and another woman (i'm so sorry I forgot her name - Patty Sue maybe?) anyway, this is the third time I've had to take the certification class since becoming a group fitness instructor and in the past it's been incredibly hard to pay attention and learn. Both instructors were inviting and made the class fun while stressing the importance of the course. I'm glad I was able to complete the course today and when I have to re-certify in two years I hope these two are teaching the course! read more

Today, my wife, daughter and future son-in-law took the adult and pediatric CPR and first aid course with Yuraisi. She was a wonderful instructor - very knowledgeable and professional and responsive to all our questions. We learned so much and Yuraisi made sure we had all the important steps memorized in the right order and was careful to observe our techniques to make sure we were not making any mistakes. I took my CPR course there with Yuraisi and she was great ! At first I got lost trying to find the location but the room we were in was small and cozy. She taught a great class. Super friendly. Knowledgeable. But most importantly keen on keeping an eye out for anyone performing the skills required, incorrectly. She is bilingual and can translate Spanish well for anyone who is nervous about not understanding the English part of the course. Truly a nice experience. Recommend to anyone. Took a lifeguarding class and my instructor, Irene, was amazing. She had many years of experience in lifeguarding and definitely knew what she was doing. She was extremely kind and participated in the coursework actively. If one of us was trying to catch their breath after being the "victim" many times, she would jump in and voluntarily take the part, allowing us to catch our breath but still continue with training. Hours were long but somehow, those hours went by fast. Highly recommend both this company and Irene. read more

When I came into take my lifeguarding course, I was not so sure in my own abilities. But when I took the class all of the instructors, Anthony, Irene, Yuraisi, and Jeremy, did their job so beautifully that I found myself confident in completing the task at hand. Great Agency! Andy and his team came through when we needed to train a ton of staff at the last minute. What I like the most was that they offered to bring the training to us because we had such a large group to be trained.
