I decided to get my hair colored at AR Salon since it's very close from my place. I was lucky because someone called to cancelled their hair appointment so they took me in within 10 minutes. When they asked me to sit down, I noticed they had a big dog (the cutest thing ever). The only bad thing is that he kept walking around me hitting me with his big tail on my legs lol. That hurt a little bit since I was wearing shorts. Anyways, my hair is black and the hair dresser told me she would try not to stain my hairline by using some special solution. I've colored my hair black for the past 7 years and this is the first time my scalp/face gets stained this bad. When she was done, I had a black stain all around my hair line. It was so bad, I could not remove it with anything, not even scrubbing. I was hosting a party at my house that day, and I had to use a lot of make up to cover it up. I'm guessing the hair dresses does not deal with black hair that often. I'm assuming her costumers are blonde most of the time. read more

Since 2007, I've been going to Arnil,, the owner of AR Salon in Hermosa Beach because of his great hair cut/styling skill; he is an artist when it comes to creating a look that perfectly suits me. He changes it up every once in awhile, giving me an updated version, keeping me looking perky for my age. From edgy to classic, I've observed his creations on many others. Thing is, you know you have a good haircut when it looks good wet even before you blow it dry. Arnil and his other stylists are also color experts. Hands down the BEST hair salon I've been to. (And I've had many trials and errors) I came into the salon very nervous because I live in San Diego and I had yet to find a reliable salon here in the South Bay. (I have artificial blonde hair which is very easy to mess up). The stylists there are super nice and accommodating right when you walk in. They made sure that I did not leave the salon unhappy. I needed a re-application of color my roots because I washed my hair too early and Arnil was SUPER helpful! I came in two days later and he squeezed me into his schedule last minute. He is very friendly and professional and calmed me down from my anxiety attack I had that morning after I washed my hair. He completely transformed my hair, leaving it more beautiful and healthy-feeling than I thought was possible. Hubby, my two daughters and I all go to AR Salon. My husband just couldn't find the right person to cut his hair until he had Arnil do it. Now he won't go anywhere else! My former hairdresser's work hours were too inconvenient so I switched to AR Salon, and now my daughters and I see Vantha for our cuts and colors. She successfully bleached and then later re-colored my younger daughter's hair; and she did a fabulous ombre color for my older daughter! I find that their costs are very reasonable, too! read more

I have been going to AR Salon for years and they not only do my beautifully....but they are pretty much the nicest people ever! Seriously i drove home all the way to hermosa from my school in Redlands when I need to get my hair done and it is worth the trip! I just can't bring myself to get my hair done anywhere else! Sadly some of their former employees have taken some of the customers for granted...but rodilyn and arnell are very good at weeding out those people who treat their clients like crap and make their hair look like shit (aka jules).....she did my hair soo bad for my prom and i left on the verge of tears and had to go get my hair done AGAIN b/c she did such a bad job....im talking frizzy and completely awful......but the other people at AR saw how bad it was and gave me my money back even though i insisted that they didn't have too!! i was just soo glad that the other stylists cared even tho she didn't.....which is why its good she's gone!! it just shows that the stylists at AR.....especially rodilyn....are not only awesome hair stylists but awesome people...... I have been going to AR Salon since 2001. I moved from Hermosa, to Redondo, but I still travel to Hermosa. AR Salon has won BEST OF BEACH for hair for both Arnil and Rodilyn, the co-owners. They _are_ the best. Rodilyn told me YELP charged owners for good reviews unless they buy advertising.
