The price was $40 if you used the yelp check-in deal (cash only) and $38 if you got the coupon from smogtips.com (cash only). Came to the establishment on a Wednesday afternoon and there was no line. I heard a client asking to retest his car that was failed previously. My car failed due to replacing a new battery before I come to smog test. According to them, the car's computer is not ready because of that. I did use a coupon so I will have to pay for a retest. I went to other shop, It passed. Just moved to area. After researching online, girlfriend took my newer Range Rover in for smog. She was a bit shy and didn't mention the coupon, or maybe didn't get a chance too. Which was why we picked this place as new customers. I've managed retail and always went the extra step, I do expect the same from all services, least if they want to compete. There are plenty other places of anything to go too. Anyways what gets me, is that there was no mention of a coupon to her, and the cost was literally double! Yes it was total $59.75 to plug in an OBD2 and print a certificate. I mean most places don't you hear "having a sale, or did you see us online with coupon?" She said tech printed invoice and handed to her before even doing the smog. So when she got home, I politely called them, explained situation and asked, if could we work out an option to reimburse coupon. They were not rude at all, just very insistent that nothing could be done. If coupon was not mentioned up front and cash only, (which they say is on coupon, but I didn't see that print). Said I would go there with cash, and may they void my charge. I know it was our mistake and asking favor, but isn't a potential new client worth it? I guess not, maybe their client list is full up. In my opinion, by not mentioning a sale or coupon, does seem a bit on the dishonest side, to me. So I'll toss a stone and see which of the many other smog places around here it lands, that I'll be a client too, for my Range Rover, Jaguar, Porsche and 3 BMWs. and my gated community's cars as well. Funny, that the service person said he walks by our house and gated community. So he should know what potential he might be shutting down. Did he really think I would bring any other cars there after our call? Just be like, Oh next time, OK, LOL Again it wasn't about the extra $30 charged. Its about, in these harder days, help and be helped. Be loyal and kind to the good people, places and services, and stick to those who are at their best for you. This is the one smog place where The staff tells you NOT to get a smog check because they know you'll fail. To me, that's a sign of a business that wants repeat customers and understands that smog checks can be annoying, but legally necessary. The service here sucks. Called the guy on the phone to ask for pricing and wait time for a smog and he wasn't helpful at all. He gave uncertain, short answers which made it seem like he did not care to have me give him service. When I asked how much, he said that the price varies for different type of car and model and didn't care to ask what kind I had. When I asked for the wait time, he said that he won't know. Went in for a Smog around 12pm, Smog technician very unfriendly and asked me to pull my car into the driveway since I was parked on the curb. After I moved my car he said I needed the letter from the DMV in order for him to perform the Smog check. I asked him 2 more times if he could do it without the paperwork and he told me No, that he needed something to scan. After leaving and researching if what he told me was true, it ends up he lied to me and was too lazy to enter VIN and plates information manually. If you don't have your paperwork don't bother coming here. read more

Been some of the quickest service I've ever had at a smog test location. Just not a fan that their coupon will only be honored for cash only transactions. Not to mention that to get your car smog tested, it costs $59.75 at this place, which is almost over the legal limit. (Yes, there is actually a law that says smog tests cannot be over $50 plus tax.) They could've easily warned me that my check engine light was on and that my car probably wouldn't have passed smog (I unfortunately didn't know at the time), but they decided to take my money anyway. I would've appreciated the honesty, gotten it checked out and come back here... Instead they didn't tell me and failed my test. Then when I came back just a couple of days passed the "10 day free grace period" (the work I had to do in my car took a while), they charged me again for the re-test. Stopped by there this morning for a smog check on my way in to work this morning. This location is actually on the same street that my business is on. I asked the guy at the counter if there were any coupons and he only offered up $10 off the ridiculous $69.95 price. I decided to get it done anyway, though it still sounded like a bad deal. I walked a few doors down to my business, fired up my computer, and quickly found a coupon for $29.95 + $8.25 for cert. That's more realistic. When I went back with the coupon 10 minutes later, they wouldn't honor it saying it needed to be presented at the time I arrived. And even if I did present the coupon, the guy said he would still charge $10 more for a potential retest which I knew I wouldn't need. I strongly recommend avoiding this business establishment. If they're going to screw fellow businesses that are only a few doors down from their location, they'll certainly do it to the unsuspecting customer. I have advised all persons at my office to not take their cars to this smog check service provider. I would advise you to do the same. read more

Come early in the morning; before 10am. There aren't many people here. And the process only takes about 20 min. Visually it isn't the most appealing but the service is good & the people are friendly. I came in at about 9am, met with the tech, talked shop for a few min, told him about my truck (ie check engine light, broken front doors, etc), and brought in a coupon. My total didn't exceed $40. I would not recommend this test center. I suppose not illegal, but I feel it was highly unethical. When I went in, my check engine light was on. It had been on for ages but the auto mechanic had checked and said it was nothing, fine to keep on driving it (it is a 25 year old car). At Arcadia Smog, the person tested the car anyway, without telling me that it would certainly fail. I learned later that the smog test would detect that the check engine light was on and that it would certainly fail just on that account. I had a minor repair done, got the light turned off, and tested a second time at a different smog test place where it passed, no problem. I asked the tester at the second smog test place what he would do if my check engine light was on before he tested. He said he would have told me that it would not pass, and to go get it checked and fixed, the light turned off, prior to testing. read more
