I didn't eat here but I came for the wine tasting with a bachelorette party. It started good until the lady who was serving us disappeared for over 20 minutes after our second glass of wine, even our bus driver had to come in and intervene because we had another winery to go to...service wasn't great. Finally went in to Arch Ray after passing by for so long. We were with friends, so sat in the bar area. everyone got something different. I tried a beer flight. Great kids working the bar. We stopped by Arch Ray Winery on the way back to ATX after a week in FBG. The winery tasting room is part of a new mega-complex which includes all the family's food and beverage brands. The space is super nice, very modern. Large upscale restaurant, party spaces, outdoor areas, all top notch! We tasted the whites and reds. All were good, but our favs were in the white flight. We snacked on an artichoke-spinach dip with chips, pico and sour cream, which was very good. Arch Ray is a top tier winery in Central Tx IMHO, we'd stop by again to sample more. Recommend checking out their new digs!! PS Kind of a weird architectural flaw in the tasting room. Given the configuration of the entrance to the men's restroom, and the mirrors in the restroom, casual passersby can see right into stalls in men's restroom from the tasting room area. Weird to us. Review change from a 5 to a 1. Great tasting this afternoon with the plan of returning for dinner. We left to watch the football game and returned at 730. (They close at 9). We were turned away bc they were not sitting anymore customers. Lots of open tables with 1.5hrs until close. I guess they are making plenty and don't need the $$$$ No future visits ever Super amazing staff was friendly and able to answer ALL the questions (we had a lot). Beautiful facility and grounds. Lovely place. Temperanillo was so good, I'm regretting not getting a bottle. I tried the spirits, surprisingly the gin was good and I'm not a gin person. Tyler let me try the frozen gin lemonade and it was so refreshing! I bought some of the distillery's canned vodka lemonade, (I think it is strawberry lemonade?) and it is so good, I only have one can left and want more lol. Arch Ray has something for everybody in your group. Sweet wines from fiesta, dry wines from arch ray, a brewery, distillery, cocktails, mock tails, food, snacks, great views in the back, live music Friday and Saturday afternoons, large area inside to accommodate large groups. It really has everything. We came here on a Saturday and it didn't feel super overcrowded like a lot of other venues in the area do and were able to show up without reservations. I think the deterrent is the front looks pretty generic and "strip mall" ish for a winery, but don't let that deter you. The inside is really nice and the back area views are amazing. They also have grass fed meats you can buy at reasonable prices (ex. $12/lb sirloin) since the property is a working ranch. Only reason I didn't do 5 stars is we saw the food and it looked like smallish portions for the price. They also are open until 9 on Saturdays which is amazing especially for the area when most places close by 6. read more

We just went to the winery and distillery. We paid for 2 wine tastings and 2 spirit tastings Our main problem was the lady pouring knew NOTHING about either the wines or the spirits. She didn't know how to pronounce the names, didn't know what the blends were or if they were barrel aged or in stainless steel. The same with the spirits , clueless So we spent over $100 and still know nothing more than when we walked in One final small note: there should be a sign pointing to the restaurant parking and the tasting parking lot. read more

THE BIG: Located right outside of Fredericksburg. Gigantic space with high ceilings and beautiful outdoor seating. Brewery and RV park also on premises. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here with a friend on a Saturday during Fredericksburg Oktoberfest and ACL weekend 1. It wasn't crowded and we enjoyed the beautiful outdoor weather (in October). The inside looked like a Restoration Hardware with it's clean yet designer look. High ceilings. We each got a wine tasting which featured a couple whites and reds. All were great, none blew me away. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Wine tastings are $30 with 6 (1oz) pours. My party received unacceptable service. The restaurant was not busy at all and we arrived with a medium sized party. The server was incredibly rude and lacking in wine knowledge. The party ordered appetizers to share and wine tastings. As we dined, the server made several comments including "I've never seen a table eat so fast" and "Wow y'all are hungry." Another server commented that we had ordered "a ton of food." During the wine tasting, she refused to offer any knowledge on the wines. Repeating things like "there's nothing to say about a Pinot Grigio" or "a rose is rose." At the end, she gave everyone the same red wine, regardless of which tasting they had paid for. We went in with a group of people wanting to do several taste test and no body even acknowledged we were there until we just walked up to one of the bars at which point we were instructed to go to the other bar. Upon sitting down we were handed menus and told by one of the bar tenders they had to go grab a box and would be back. That bar tender then came back with the box and then proceeded to help several others. In total we waited over 30 minutes for help and no one actually seemed like they wanted to help us. We have been here several times and enjoy the ambiance. Service wasn't the best this time, Hostess was nice and apologetic, they did have tables it's just having one of the several staffs to clean them off, and there were a few just standing around. The Wagyu Burger was excellent, my husband really enjoyed it and asparagus soup was to die for, I could of had two bowls of that, shrimp and grits need a little work, grits were excellent, definitely would get a different shrimp, way to small and over cooked, if I have it again I'd for go the butter. Drinks were good, and our waiter was very nice. If I could make a recommendation please have your staff bring bar napkins for water and drinks. They sweat, especially in this weather you when pick it up, you have all the water down the front of you from the sweaty glasses. My husband and I frequently come to Arch Ray for cocktails and beer. Today I decided to try the Bavarian Pretzel and the Pink Pineapple Bourbon Margarita. Both were amazing! I had never heard of Pink Pineapple before but considering Bourbon is one of my favorite spirits, I had to try it! It was so good! Eyan was my server and he was awesome! We have been to Arch Ray Resort for several occasions and have had our share of servers, but this past visit, Jacob the closing manager was also our server and WOW, he changed our minds about Arch Ray Staff, and brought back customer service! Some staff in the past have come off rude and annoyed to be bothered, it would be hard to order anything as no one would come ask, but Jacob made up for it. He was attentive, knowledgeable, on point and always friendly and professional. It was refreshing and we will be back again soon as long as he's there :) read more

Saying that this is a huge facility is an understatement. Not only do they serve some great wines but they also have a distillery and brewery here. Talk about a one stop shop for all. If that was not enough, they also have an excellent local restaurant, 1894 Ranch, serving delicious farm to table cuisine that is to die for (including locally raised Wagyu beef). Oh boy! So, how did this great place come to be? Many longtime Texas wine friends are already familiar with Fiesta Winery. The same people, Stephen and Sally Baxter, have taken their next adventure to a whole new level. They come from many generations of family ranchers, the Baxter and McCoury families, and have named this new inspiring location from a blend of a couple of their family background names, Archie, and Ray. The winery, distillery, brewery, and restaurant aren't the only things to admire here. There's a great RV park being built, cabins, as well as plans for a future Wyndham built but locally managed resort hotel on this site. This will definitely raise the bar on the ultimate full service stay location in the ever-booming Texas Hill Country. There is so much to share about this place, but for this blog let's focus on the wines. The "old" tasting room was opened in 2022 and this brand new spacious facility opened up to the public last summer. Family member Weston McCoury from Fiesta has been overseeing the winemaking for Arch Ray. In addition to Fiesta wines, you can now sample some great Arch Ray wines. There are currently five main flights to choose from: Sweet White, Sweet Red, Dry White, Dry Mix, and Dry Red. For this visit, the focus was on the Arch Ray wines Dry White and Dry Red fights. Grapes for these Arch Ray wines are sourced from the Texas High Plains AVA. First up for the whites was the 2021 Viognier. It has a light tropical sensation with notes of honeysuckle. This was followed by the 2021 Gewurztraminer. This white wine is big on pear and dried apricot with a pleasant floral note. The 2021 Pinot Grigio has a light refreshing feel with notes of crisp apple and a touch of honey. The last white sampled was the 2021 Riesling. This German semi dry style wine packs a zesty floral note coupled with notes of apple and pear. For the reds, the first one sampled was the 2019 Mourvèdre. This well-known Texas wine varietal had a touch of smoke and a bit of oak to compliment the peppery feel and smooth finish. The second red was the 2019 Sangiovese. This Italian style wine had rich cherries and spices. Another well-known Texas varietal in this flight was the 2019 Tempranillo. This one packed some bold cherries, and mouth puckering tannins with just the right shade of ruby color. Last, was the 2019 Tannat. This bold and dark fruit wine was quite elegant with well-balanced acids and a satisfying lip puckering finish. You honestly can't go wrong with any of these wines, so feel free to dive in and enjoy. In addition to the large indoor location, there is a covered patio area for scenic outside seating for you to soak up some classic Hill Country scenery. If you have time, plan to sample some of their food while you enjoy your tasting. The food items were sourced directly from the Baxter ranch. This is a sensational property that is still being developed, but for now, this destination is worth a stop. There are some great wines and tasty foods to enjoy here, along with a nice shop in the front of the main tasting room. Cheers! read more

The charcuterie board was wonderful with raisins, crackers, meats, cheeses, fruit, etc. I also tasted their liquor selection and I have to say that their gin is fantastic. Next time, I want to have their gin martini. I would have purchased a bottle but the gin is not on the market yet. In another review someone said Arch Ray would be better when they pave the parking lot. I say don't pave the parking lot. This is Texas, we don't need pavement. read more

Walked in to do a taste. Rude hostess would not give us table although there were several open. We set at the bar for 15 minutes nobody would look or even acknowledge us. Left without being served and will never go back. Sterile ambiance. There is a lot options in Fredericksburg avoid this tourist trap! Good business plan and terrible execution. read more
