Printed quote included with the take-home gift muffin. This kind of messaging accompanied every course and distracted from the food.

Paid $700 for two people, no drink pairing, and left frustrated. This was billed as a high-end tasting menu, but the food simply did not justify the price. Protein was minimal and underwhelming: one scallop, a few small shrimp, and a pork dish so modest that the guest next to us actually laughed when it was served. The menu leaned heavily on carbs and inexpensive ingredients. No luxury components you'd expect at this price point. No wow moments. Innovative ideas, sure, but nothing that felt like $350 a seat. What really sank the experience was the constant storytelling. Every course (every course) came with a heavy, depressing narrative about hardship, poverty, or exploitation. At some point, it stopped being dinner and started feeling like a lecture. We're here to eat, not be emotionally bludgeoned between bites. The takeaway gift a cornbread muffin paired with a printed manifesto summed it up perfectly: lots of messaging, very little payoff. My girlfriend and I spent the rest of the night talking about how unpleasant the experience was, to the point that it genuinely ruined the evening. The good: Service was exceptional. Truly top-tier hospitality. Plating was beautiful, and despite our complaints, the decor actually worked. Bottom line: This place leans hard into progressive cultural signaling at the expense of the food itself. If this were $100-125 per person, maybe. At $350 a head, absolutely not. We're happy to pay for great dining, but this was not it. - Would not recommend.

Archipelago is a great tasting menu experience in Seattle that everyone should try at least once. We came for my birthday dinner and had a wonderful time. Every staff member makes an effort to make the meal special, from the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave. I enjoyed how each course was also served with a piece of history. They do a great job of tying the dish and the ingredients to Filipino history. We opted for the juice pairing but decided to share, and thankfully, they accommodated. The servers poured us each a glass per course (about half a glass, since we split the pairing). The same thoughtfulness that goes into the menu goes into the juices; I'd recommend adding this pairing. The food is wonderful. There's a mix of tastes; tangy, sweet, savory, bitter, but all delicious. I liked the presentation as well. My favorite bites of the night were probably the scallop and the PNW champorado. I thought it was sweet that they send you home with an extra bite. I only realized this after going home, but they've prepped an entire website full of research for each menu iteration, so you can read up on how they were inspired to create a dish. Love the thought that went into this experience and I would highly recommend to anyone considering.

This experience was a love letter to the Filipino community in Seattle. From when you enter the restaurant to when you leave, you are meet with smiles, warmth, and people who love their craft. As an 1st gen Fil/Chi-Am the experience was so touching. An ode to the Filipino community in Seattle, each dish made with heart and enriched with purpose and history. Not to even mention the warmth and overall ambiance of what reminds me of my Lola's house. When you enter the experience you come in as if you are part of the kapamiliya and leave as one

One of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in Seattle! From the moment you walk through the nondescript door you're welcomed like family, and your senses are treated to a multi-course meal prepared right in front of you. We could feel the passion and precision that they have for their craft, and it's this attention to details that bring out the flavors of every ingredient, whether it's the delicate sweetness of fruits, the savory tenderness of beef, or the refreshing brininess of seafood. Every course was delicious without being overpowering, and every course had a story. We have a new appreciation for Filipino history here in Seattle and throughout the world, and it was that paying homage that really elevated the dinner. Speaking of elevating, the one thing that really sets this place apart is their service. Every person in the kitchen and dining room is knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, and will do whatever it takes to make your dinner experience the best. Shout out to Isabel who took care of us most of the evening, many thanks for making our dinner extra special! Now at $250/person we won't be going back every week, and I wish Archipelago was in a more desirable neighborhood. But there's no doubt this place left a lasting impression on me that I would recommend everyone experience.

How would I explain the food, experience, and service at Archipelago to someone who has never been? Take the flavors of Filipino cuisine and use local ingredients to recreate and add unique elements that delights the palate. For each dish, incorporate a historical reference that's rooted in Philippine culture and photo a slide that inspired the dish. Pair the meal with local wines that perfectly complements the flavors. And finally, garnish with a touch of world renowned Filipino hospitality. Oh, and make sure to offer seconds or thirds. Archipelago is an intimate dining experience with seating for up to 12. There are 2 seating times and we were able to secure the 4 seat table on the side for 5:30 PM. What immediately stood out upon entering Archipelago was how the staff made us feel. We were not just guests, we were "kapamilya" (family). The food was utterly amazing as it was not just about the flavors and presentation. Each course was personally introduced by a staff member with an accompanying story of inspiration and photo slide in reference of the historical figure. The courses had familiar flavors of Filipino cuisine and had a variance of textures. The menu features 10 courses and we opted for the wine pairings. One memorable moment during dinner was when the staff offered seconds and thirds. They made sure no one left hungry. Final impressions, we were provided with the menu list of all the courses, wine pairings, and historical figures referenced during the meal. We also received a small box of cookies as a parting gift and thank you. I cannot recommend this place enough. Truly a unique experience.

This is in my top 3 dining experiences of all time. The food is delicious - that almost feels like table stakes when you see how elevated the service is. It's all choreographed to perfection so you never have an empty plate in front of you. And the story telling, props and presentation elevate the dining experience to the next level. Keep your eyes peeled though - the entrance is so non descript and easy to miss

Part II: As the night began to end, our seven servers/reciters were (re)introduced: Chef Aaron, Paula, Isabelle, Joshua, Harlan, Chyna, Ethan. Our table had been served by each of them throughout the night, and each had taken turns introducing each course with an oration tied to the title of the course, to explain the significance as it related to Filipino heritage (many of which was tied to the Pacific Northwest). The entire 2+ hours was a performance, where the diners/audience need to be willing participants/learners. Yes, the food was the most important piece, but this experience was so much more than just that. The night ended with a take-home dessert ('food for the gods', a traditional Filipino dessert), beautifully packaged in a gift box. The food menu was included in a keepsake 'thank you' card, along with a souvenir postcard. Isabelle did not forget my request for the wine and juice lists (mainly so I could do this review). Chef Aaron came out to talk to us as the night ended. He asked about the barongs that my daughter and son-in-law were wearing, how it was worn during part of their wedding one year ago. He spent time talking to the one Filipino in our party (my daughter), asking about her history and sharing a little of his. I felt like a parent again, taking pictures and even (cringe) a little video of my child, interacting with a celebrity. To cap it off, once Chef Aaron recognized how much our party loved the Raspberry, Tomato, Corn juice, he asked the maker (Joshua, who we learned was a trainee) to give us a take home bottle. Chef Aaron pointed us to some other Filipino fine dining restaurants that he would recommend, two of which I've gone to (Kasama in Chicago, Kuya Lord in LA) and not (Animae in San Diego). If there is one thing that Archipelago taught me, was that it is possible for a restaurant to provide an unforgettable dining experience by promoting a topic that has personal significance to the diner (what's more personal and important than your heritage), and have such a force apply so strongly to you, as if it was meant just for your family. I've only felt this at home cooked meals (for better or worse) before. This review on Yelp can't do justice the amount of joy and goodwill I felt as I left Archipelago that night. It's an emotion I want to clearly remember (and hopefully feel) when I read these words again in the coming years.

Impeccable service and ambience, but at this price point I would have expected better food - it doesn't compare to the European or the Japanese one Michelin star restaurants.

Weird, I think my Yelp app is broken because it's not letting me give 6 stars on this review. Whatever I guess. Anyways -- Archipelago will always be a special meal memory for me. From the moment you walk in the door until you leave after the experience is done, all of the staff treat you like family. Every single course was meaningful and represented different messages from Filipino heritage and history. All of the courses were creative, flavorful, fresh, and SOOOO cohesive. The wine pairing was immaculate as well and really elevated the dining experience. I'm not really one to repeat restaurants, but I know for a fact that this will be the first reservation I make next time I come to Seattle. If you enjoy good food and good people, this absolutely needs to be on your to-do list. Thank me later.

This was my favorite dining experience during our visit to Seattle. If Michelin were to come to Seattle, I definitely think Archipelago deserves a star. Everyone was so nice and I really enjoyed the Filipino culture and stories behind each dish. My favorite dishes were the salmon kilawin, short rib, and ribeye. Before the last savory dish, they asked everyone how full we were (5 being most full). My husband and I were the only ones with 1's - we got a chuckle out of that. The PNW "chocolate" dessert was great too - really tripped me out that there was not actual chocolate in it. My husband and I shared the juice and wine pairing. I enjoyed all the juices, with my favorite being the cherry one. They were also able to accommodate a red wine pairing (our personal preference). P.S. If you sit at the bar, don't forget your stuff underneath like I did! :)

    Steve W.

Overall, this was an amazing dinner! The food was amazing, each course was unique and different from anything else in Seattle. But each dish came with a story of the inspiration or celebration of the dish which I appreciated. Sitting at the chef's counter, the team operated as a well oiled machine in their preparation of the next course. Chef Aaron and the entire staff were warm, friendly and hospitable which made this meal and the evening even more special. Overall, an amazing evening. Many thanks to the team for the great evening!

My girlfriend and I stopped in before a flight, which in hindsight was a mistake. We ordered around 12:30 PM (niku beef udon, garlic pork udon, and chicken karaage), and it took nearly an hour to receive everything. The karaage came out first after about 40 minutes, then one udon about 10 minutes later, and the final dish close to an hour after ordering. Because of this, we weren't able to eat together unless one of us let our food go cold. On top of that, the restaurant itself was uncomfortably cold, which made the long wait feel even worse. It also seemed like many other tables were experiencing similar issues--orders coming out at different times or missing entirely, with customers having to repeatedly follow up. What stood out most was the lack of communication. There was no acknowledgment of the delays, no check-ins, and no apology--not when the food was dropped off, and not even when we left. Given that we had to pay upfront and the price point was $20+ per bowl, it made the experience feel even more disappointing. While the portions were decent and the noodles seemed handmade, the food itself didn't feel particularly special to justify the wait or cost. I truly hope this feedback is helpful. With better timing, communication, and overall service, I think the experience could be much better.

Tables are mostly four tops, quite spacious at that, and surrounded by sturdy wooden chairs. I came for dinner on a Friday evening and there were a few other tables at any given time. Service was quick and our water never ran empty. We had the wontons in hot oil, topped with peanuts, I had the beef chow fun, and my dinner buddy had the pork with hot sauce noodles. The wontons are very very good, stuffed with flavorful pork and swimming in a sauce that sits in that perfect spot at the intersection of hot and sour. The peanuts and scallions add a delightful crunch. Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. I am a human vacuum and I actually brought leftovers home, which is rare for me. The pork with hot sauce noodles is seemingly a fusion of zha jiang mian and dan dan noodles. My friend really enjoyed it and actually finished the whole thing, which is saying something given that she doesn't usually eat that much. There are so many other items on the menu that I'm eager to try, so I will definitely be back.

My wife and son highly recommended this place as a tasty place they found…read more.. After my son's fencing tournament where he stabs his friends... we went on the adventure. The start of the journey began with the requisite parking fiasco and issues that are perpetual in the Seattle ID...but that should never, and I mean never, stop an important mission like finding a truly delicious noodle restaurant. When we went in, it was pretty empty. We were immediately sat, and ordered. The hot jasmine tea quickly followed. Our Calamari came out quick and was delicious to the point I nearly had to fight my son for the last piece. I quickly surrendered as he does stab people...see above...he parried my fork and stabbed the last piece before quickly finishing the move. Our mains came out shortly after we finished the calamari. The 14yo ordered beef brisket noodle soup. He said it was delicious, but too spicy after he added too much chili oil. The wife scoffed at the idea that there's such a thing as too much chili oil and ate some of his soup. This was after she dug into her hot pot. I did get a chance to sample the delicate pork pieces and the flavorful rice. The slightly crispy rice at the bottom of the pot were so delicious. I had the Singapore style fried noodles. Really tasty. The noodles had so many flavors from the vegetables to the meats (shrimp, chicken meat & egg, and pork) and the sauce. I enjoyed the meal, and look forward to discovering more dishes to try on our adventures trying to find parking. JuFeng, thank you for the delicious meal!
