They are in the old Anthony's location at Shilshole (and please, whatever you do, don't tell them this fact, they are keenly aware...) Snow crab, Dungeness crab, clams, mussels, shrimp, cold shrimp, coconut shrimp, oysters, salmon,...takes a breath...fresh sushi, omlette bar, breakfast things, salad and fruit bar aaaannndddd dessert bar....whew! Oh, and unlimited made to order steak, halibut, crab cakes, dumplings and wonton and much more. Everytime I'm in town we hit up Secret Congee, which is next door. This time we decided to try Happy Crab's weekend brunch buffet! Endless snow crab legs, shrimp, clams, mussels, rockfish, sashimi and more. Seafood was good (don't skimp on the garlic and Cajun sauces ), service was attentive and friendly. Amazing, amazing view! I think that's one of the main highlights of this restaurant. Especially during sunset, the atmosphere feels so relaxing and peaceful. I highly recommend sitting outside if they have available tables, not only for the view but also because the AC inside is extremely strong. We asked if they could adjust the temperature, but they said they couldn't since it controls the whole restaurant. They didn't give a very specific reason, so I'm not sure if they actually knew how to adjust it. Either way, bring a hoodie if you plan to sit indoors. We came here because we wanted to try Cajun seafood boil with Asian influences. Washington Mussels & Clams Combo -- served with toasted baguette and white wine garlic butter. There was very little garlic flavor, and honestly, we all thought it tasted a bit bland. The seafood didn't seem super fresh either, and overall it wasn't worth the price. Mermaid Platter (served with 5 corns and 5 potatoes) -- includes 2 snow crab clusters, 1 lb head-on shrimp, 1 lb green mussels, 1 lb crawfish, and 1 lb sausage. The sausage was very tasty and well-seasoned. Unlike the typical seafood boil served in a bag, this one came in a pan. In my opinion, it looked prettier served this way, but the seasoning wasn't mixed evenly. Some parts were bland while other parts were delicious. The shrimp were large, but unfortunately overcooked. We also added the bang bang noodles to the Mermaid Platter. The sauce wasn't mixed very evenly either, so make sure to dip into the extra sauce at the bottom before eating. I went to Happy Crab for a girl's night out and then two other times with my partner. First of all, the views of the Sound are amazing! Their outdoor patio is a perfect place to enjoy a seafood dinner while you watch the sunset! Happy Crab offers a variety of fresh seafood; lobster, shrimp, scallops, mussels, crawfish and crab legs in different sauces ranging from mild to spicy. Their Happy Hour menu includes most of their regular menu items at a Happy Hour rate. For appetizers we had their coconut shrimp and sweet potato fries. The shrimp was crunchy and fresh and it tasted great with the dipping sauce. Plenty of food for two! For main dishes I built my own bowl with a 1/2 pound of scallops, fresh Biang Biang noodles with Cajun sauce and mild spice level. The scallops were cooked perfectly. The sauce and spices added a lot of flavor to the scallops. The noodles added an extra texture to the dish and complimented the scallops. There was so much food that I took the rest of it home! My partner ate my leftovers for lunch the next day. He loved it so much that he wanted to go. We ordered the same scalloped dish, and ordered the Seafood Combo Special "A, The Basics". They forgot to add a few items initially but more than made up for it by giving us large quantities of what was missing. The view is absolutely spectacular. And whether you dine inside by a window or whether you dine on the patio outside, you're gonna have a great view of the Shilshole Bay waterfront. This place definitely has potential They just opened up recently so I'm sure they are still working out a lot of the kinks. They now have the full menu both daytime and evening, which is great. we tried three different menu items and shared them, I'd say the food is so so. it's got some zest and taste OK but is incredibly greasy and loaded with oil. I'm hoping that is just because the cooks are new and things are still getting worked out on recipes and learning to make them. definitely one of the nicest seafood boils I've been to, it's right on the water and we came during sunset and the views were so nice. I've been here a few times now and overall I think it's good, with some mixed stuff. This is the first boil I've been to that has mala flavor which I really liked, you can also add hand pulled noodles which is fun. But I did try their happy hour which was very hit or miss. We tried the dumplings and those were very bad, very oily and the dumplings had no flavor on their own and the sauce didn't stick well to the dumplings. The calamari and that entire plate was soggy and not crisp or crunchy. The shrimp and grits were all right, very buttery - little too much for me but that's just me. the worst birthday dinner I've ever had. I'm honestly beyond mortified with the whole experience. My cousin and I have ordered take out from here before and loved it. We've always enjoyed the food and the hostess has always been friendly when we walk in. Therefore, we decided to go there with my other cousin for my birthday to try it in the restaurant. When I ask earlier in the week, I was told they did reservations and birthday dessert. I went ahead to make an online reservation 2 days prior on the 22nd requesting a table in the MDF next to the piano and window because I wanted the view of the water for the 24th. I got a text about an hour & a half prior to show up on time for our reservation at 6pm for our reservation. We got there on time and was told our table wasn't ready. Matter of fact, we didn't have an assigned table & was sat in the bar area when i specifically requested to be put in the MDF. It took about 10-15 minutes for us to get seated which I didn't understand the point of me making a reservation if they weren't going to honor it, but whatever it wasn't that big of a deal. We sat down and got greeted by an older male server who took our order. We decided to get a customized seafood boil, a round of drinks, rice & garlic green beans. The drinks came out in a reasonable time, but our seafood boil took over 30 minutes. The couple in front of us had ordered only a few minutes before us, but got theirs well before ours. They were almost done eating by the time our food came. There was no communication about when our food was coming & when it did come, we were missing items. We asked our server for straws for our drinks and a third set of utensils/gloves since he only brought us 2 and we had 3 people to which he said no problem. However, he kept walking past us and we kept having to ask other servers for it who also kept forgetting... we asked once we had placed our order & still didn't get them until after our food came when we asked for the 4th time. The drinks were nothing special and we were at least expecting the green beans to come out to snack on, but they never did. My cousin even went up to the host stand after 30 minutes of being in the restaurant to inquire about our food and no one was even there nor did any server stop to help her so she just ended up sitting back down. When our food finally came, the boil was delivered by someone else who didn't take our order, so we assumed the other server would be following with our rice and green beans. Our "server" didn't come check on us until much later when we were almost done with the boil, so we had toa ask him to check on the green beans and cancel it if it wasn't done. He just apologized and walked away but never came back to confirm if it was taken off the bill. We never got our rice either which we had to tell him to remove as well once the bill came since it was still on. There was no follow up from management or the kitchen about our missing order. Our server was completely unaware of our food even though he rang it in. Not to mention, my cousin had to go to the host stand to try to pay because he never came back to check on us again and was nowhere to be seen. The hostess couldn't even find our check or server, so we just had to wait until he came back much later. There was no offer of a birthday dessert I was promised and we were just given a tablet to pay the bill. I had asked for a box prior to paying and he just gave me one with no lid... He told us he would bring a lid back and took over 5 minutes to remember to bring one. It was absolutely miserable having to wait on him throughout the whole night and to be treated so poorly on a special celebration. customized crab boil w/ mild cajun seasoning: the sauce is delicious & the seafood was well cooked, but the corn and potato were overcooked. The corn was so good when we did take out, but it was so mushy in person my cousin couldn't even eat it. They only give 1 per lbs so you have to pay extra. happy crab punch: good fruit notes, but strong vodka I forgot the name of the other drinks because they werent memorable nor did they taste good. I can't rate the other food we ordered because we never got it and I honestly wasn't planning on making a review, so I didn't get the photos I usually would. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous and there's a large, free parking lot. It's sleek and modern with bright lightening. The restaurant itself is huge and there's many dining rooms, so would think by how upscale it looks the service would reflect that but it doesn't. The only hype about this place is the location by golden gardens which is how they must make their money. I was influenced. I kept seeing all the influencers posting about this new Chinese seafood boil place. They were raving about the xiao long baos and that it might be better than Din Tai Fung. They were out of the cucumber salad, so they told us they'll take it off the bill. My seafood boil came first and it was missing the hand pulled noodles, I didn't say anything initially because I thought maybe it'd come separately, I later had to point it out then the waiter brought it out. The noodles were SO incredibly disappointing. Poorly stretched. Really thick and doughy. I wanted it to be beautifully wide and thin like the influencers noodles were. I guess they didn't put care into mine since I wasn't an influencer. Sad. My kids wanted the xlb and that took forever. Pretty much by the time I finished my seafood boil, it finally came. It shouldn't take this long. Yes it is "made-to-order" but considering there were only 2 other parties at the restaurant, it shouldn't have taken this long. They forgot about the second order of pork xlb and brought it at the very end, so that was comped. The xlb was also not great. Go to Supreme Dumplings or DTF for good ones, better ones. These were already exploded when it arrived. So there was no soup in them. Not a soup dumpling at all. Just wet dumplings. Then mid way through the meal, the waiter brought the cucumber salad that he initially told us they were out of. It was literally just a stack of cucumbers. Not seasoned at all, and since he brought it out, it was on the bill. Again, pretty much ANY of the dumpling restaurants in the area have better ones. I was looking forward to this place so much. Visited Happy Crab for the second time recently during the ALCS and sat in the bar to watch the Mariners almost beat the Jays. The bar area is small, there are only a few tables, but the view across the water to Magnolia is spectacular on a dark, wet, and rainy night. We ordered off the happy hour menu and had a number of appetizers including pot stickers, dumplings, and mussels. Overall, the flavors were fabulous. If I was being incredibly picky, I would like the dumplings to have a bit more soup in them (After all, that's what makes dumplings sooooo tasty.) I washed it all down with a big beer, a really big beer. Their small beer is a regular 16oz pint. The "big" beer is served in an Oktoberfest liter mug ... just keep this in mind when you order. Loved the quote on the wall and the esthetics of the restaurant. Second, they had so much to offer on the menu. The prices are very reasonable as well. We each ordered the boil. I got the lobster only and it was 19 dollars for just the tail. We older orders fried rice which was amazing, some dim sum, string beans, and the mala noodles. I'm not a big fan of the mala taste but my group loved it. Also, when you pick the sauce for the boil you can choose mala as well, but if you prefer not the mala taste you can do the Cajun butter and it was delicious. My only down fall of this restaurant would be the when you get the boil there is not that much sauce. I loved a saucy saucy boil to soak up all the meat. Another thing, a lot of entrees come out on a robot so I don't know if the robot is slow but some of the food was warm but not too hot. As always I'll start with the positives. The space is gigantic and the restaurant has a beautiful, prime location on the water front. The menu is expansive and the only place I know that you can get soup dumplings and a seafood boil at the same time. The service was good. There aren't many reviews on this place, but one that I read right before entering mentioned that the seafood was frozen. I really hoped this wasn't the case but it absolutely is. The crab and crawfish had many parts that were spongy or dry. There is just no mistaking it- 100% from frozen. For something like snow crab or maybe even the crawfish, I could almost understand, but for a locally native crab like dungeness- it feels almost blasphemous especially right on the water front. Maybe if it was 2/3rds the price then it could be justified, but the prices aren't too dissimilar from any other seafood boil restaurant. The combo we ordered came with biang biang noodles. At first we thought it was missing, but we did eventually find it near the end. While there is some novelty in the experience, and the texture itself was good, the execution of having the noodles in the sauce just made for an incredibly salty experience. We also added garlic toast expecting chunks of garlic, but it was literally one of those Texas toast you'd get in the frozen aisle at your grocery store. The sausages in the seafood boil were reminiscent of Oscar Mayer. Lastly, a more personal gripe, the hottest spice level "blazing" had no detectable spice to me or my partner. Like zero. I will say, I have a suspicion that their non-seafood boil items are likely a lot better. But I'd be hard pressed to return to find out. Split a combo that had crab legs and quarters, crawfish, shrimp, sausage, mussels with a mild house mala flavoring which also had hand made noodles in it. Flavoring had a nice flavoring and tasted good with rice or the noodles. Downside is everything was previously frozen not fresh. Corn was actually still cold on the inside. However it still wasn't too bad tasting just would have been better with fresh (obviously). But for the price, can't expect that. Also had a green bean with garlic which was very good! Wife had a crab legs with butter garlic which she said was good also. Service was off and on but not bad considering it's just a soft opening. Needs work tho. I very rarely write Yelp reviews, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna regret writing this one. Because there were only 3-4 other groups there when my wife and I checked it out for lunch. I hesitate to call attention to this place because I can easily imagine it becoming so popular it'll be hard to get a table right by the windows. But the people who opened and run this place deserve to get a lot of people here. I did the custom seafood boil with Dungeness crab, sausage, corn, potato, and white rice with the house Mala blend sauce (hot). I've seen the other reviews where people complained about the frozen seafood, but I thoroughly enjoyed the crab (and everything else in the dish). You're dipping the crab into spicy Cajun/Asian sauce for God's sake, so who the hell cares if it's frozen. I would get it again, but looking forward to trying the dumplings and other items from the menu. Since the restaurant's cuisine is a blend of Cajun and Asian, let me be the first to suggest it be referred to henceforth as "Casian" or "Ajun." You're welcome. The views really are as impressive as everybody's been saying, and even if you don't get a seat by a window, it's designed so every table has some kind of very nice view. Walk around the place, and you'll notice everywhere you stop gives you a different angle with its own uniquely beautiful view. Whoever designed this place did a f-cking great job. The indoor aesthetic is really nice, as well as outdoors. The planter boxes with wildflowers are beautiful and complement everything else nicely. The only thing I didn't care for was the robot servers. We already had a human server take our orders and do everything else other than bring the plates to our table, and we enjoyed our conversations with him (Gilbert). I get why other people like the robot servers, and that's fine. I would just rather have the human to human experience and know the staff are getting paid the wages they deserve. Let the Terminator robot revolution wait a few more years. The outdoor seating looks wonderful, and I look forward to coming back in the summer. I'll be pissed AF if this place gets so popular it's hard to get a table. But like I said, the chef and owner(s) deserve this place to be successful. read more

Super bummed about my experience because I was honestly hoping that the reviews were exaggerating the situation. I came here with my partner on Christmas Day, very thankful that the entire restaurant was open. When we arrived there was only one other party of three in the restaurant. My partner ordered the burger and I ordered the biang biang noodles. I was e so excited for these noodles so it was very unfortunate that there was a piece of metal thread? In my noodles? Looked like a piece of steel wool. It was in the middle of my noodles though, as if it had been mixed in to the noodles at the end we flagged over our waited and he asked if we would like another item but at that point it had already taken some time and my partner and I ended up sharing his burger which was just fine. I was hoping I'd like this place, but the food tasted really bad. The flavor of the seafood in general did not taste good. We had a seafood boil. The sauce was all on the bottom, so the seafood wasn't actually cooked in the sauce and lacked flavor. Shrimp in the boil tasted basically okay, but the clams and crab tasted like they had been in a fish tank too long. Sort of that weird chemical-y flavor of low quality seafood. Crab cakes also tasted gross and no one in our party would eat them. Veg and tofu dumplings tasted musty somehow. Not sure how to describe what was off, flavor wise, but something was. Ambiance was nice at least. I really wish I could give a good review, but honestly if a restaurant is starting up in a big expensive space like this, they really need to be confident about quality and flavor of the food. This is my fourth seafood boil restaurant experience and the only one I didn't like. read more

Lunch menu lacking thus we ordered the chicken burger and it was just a little bit of chicken deep fried with very thick, thick hard crust. Not good at all. Bus person close to our table constantly and loudly adding/dropping dishes into tub. Service was great by young gal. Shrieking child at table next to us also loud child few tables away. View is amazing! Parking is spacious. They have robots carrying the food to the table. The hand pulled noodles were very good. The service was ok and waiters were pretty attentive. They did forget the salt and pepper when we asked for them. Never did get them at the end of the meal. That's all the good things....now to the seafood boil. We got the most expensive boil with the mala mix and it included snow crab, Dungeness crab, crawfish, mussels, shrimp, sausage, potatos, and corn. The presentation was great however the food was COLD and all the sauce was on the bottom!! The flavor didn't penetrate the meat at all. It was obviously not fresh and the meat was dry including being cold. We also ordered 3 bowls of clam chowder and 2 of them were just barely warm and the 3rd one had to be sent back as it was cold. The crab cakes were so gross I couldn't even eat them. I was also super disappointed as well that this restaurant had flys buzzing around our heads -- we were inside and it was air conditioned what's up with flys on a rainy fall evening??? read more

I'll start off by saying the food tastes good and the waiter we got was friendly. They brought us the wrong order twice, forgot we ordered drinks which were incredibly watered down, and when we finally got our order the seasoning wasn't covering the entire crab boil. It was just kind of on top of everything which meant everything on the bottom had zero sauce. The crawfish was ok but very bland. The mussels were good but you have to apply the sauce by hand because, again, the seasoning wasn't covering everything or you're literally looking at a steamed mussel with nothing on it otherwise. The crab legs were good. The price was definitely not worth the quality of what we got. I'm not sure if they're still trying to figure things out or if they're in over their head but if they continue with this level of service and quality of food, I don't see them sticking around for very long. read more

10's across the board!! For coming in on a Saturday evening during their soft opening for dinner time, things went really well!! The lobby was full with a wait at 6:30. It took about 30 minutes to get a table for two seated but the manager came out while we were all waiting to tell us that the kitchen was running behind so there would be a bit of an extra wait. The hostess was really nice and the check in process to get put on the waitlist was really easy. The interior of the restaurant is really nice, ample amount of tables and a lot of tables for outside dining- will be amazing for the summers to come! I think having heated lamps outside for the fall/ winter would be a great idea for when it gets dark early during those months. The best part of the experience- the food!! For two people we shared a seafood boil combo and the cucumber salad + an additional build your own boil (green mussels) and everything was super fresh!! Perfectly seasoned and tasty. We had gotten the house special signature mala blend and also the classic Cajun with the spice level mild and hot. The hot was perfect! This is something I will be craving on a regular basis! As someone who eats with their eyes, while we were waiting for our table it seemed like by the looks of everyone else that was already dining in and eating, it felt like there was a lot of entrees being ordered vs seafood boils so that also feels like could be the cause of the kitchen running behind. For being open only 4 days I think it was a great experience and we will definitely be back!! I'm so excited to have a restaurant that offers so much now in Ballard. The parking is also a huge plus.
