They mostly serve pizza, but also have a selection of non-pizza entrees. Lots of great beer on tap -- namely Trillium IPA's! -- plus some cocktails. For beer, we ordered Trillium IPA's/ pale ales (duh). Dialed In (w/ Pinot Gris Juice) and Pier were on tap. Very floral and downright tasty these Trillium brew; you can never go wrong there! Note that you cannot add any Trillium beers to a flight. As for food, we opted for a small *Mushroom & Fontina* for $15. This was about 10 inches and comes out to about 6 large slices. I had a reservation here on Saturday for a date night with my boyfriend. The food and service were phenomenal, as always! We started our meal with an order of the supreme garlic knots and the dan-dan bok choy. The garlic knots are a classic staple, super fresh and fluffy. The dan-dan bok choy was the perfect level of spicy. For pizzas, we got the prosciutto americano and the caprese. The prosciutto pizza was incredible, the arugula and hot honey really make it special. While the flavor of the caprese pizza was delicious, especially the balsamic glaze on top of it, this pizza overall wasn't our favorite we've had at Area Four. The tomatoes were cut too thick and thus were very watery, making the usually crispy crust more soggy. However, we still enjoyed the meal and highly recommend dinner at Area Four! read more

The restaurant has an industrial and open interior. At the front of the restaurant is the bar area flanked by plenty of high tables. The rear offers additional seating. 2. What should you get here? The pizza is a must. Not only are the ingredients remarkably fresh, but the preparation is also quite elaborate. The dough undergoes a 30-hour fermentation process, and the mozzarella is hand-pulled. We ordered: Charred greens - Reminiscent of bok choy, these fresh local greens are served with a yogurt-based lemon sauce. The dish represents a refreshing prelude to a meal that is predisposed to being carb-heavy. Garlic knots - If you are deciding between the basket or the supreme, go for the supreme. These garlic knots are the size of a fist and are placed on a bed of marinara sauce. The best part, though, is the layer of melted cheese on top. Carnivore pizza - This meat lover's pizza is topped with generous heaps of mozzarella and is studded with sopressata, sausage, and bacon. I love the pizza dough! The puffy crust and thin bottom is my favorite. We got a large cauliflower and small Hawaiian, with the shaved brussel sprouts salad appetizer. This was more than enough food for 3 to share, with a few leftover slices to go. Those that love pizzas with pineapple will love the Hawaiian as they use fresh pineapples. I'm not a big fan, but I still enjoyed it enough to eat a slice. The cauliflower was really good, but super rich and salty. They didn't have a ton of garlic and I actually tasted the parsley more than garlic. They come with dipping sauce which is slightly sour but we didn't mind. Service was alright. Our server seemed to be taking his time doing other things before coming to help us. We even had to ask him twice to refill our water jug. Area four is definitely a unique place, and I usually order their pizza to go. It was my first dining experience there, and their service was a huge let down. Me and my partner went in for Sunday brunch, ordered 1 breakfast pizza, 1 hot mess, sticky bun and a cup of cappuccino. Things were just fine, we placed our order, got sticky bun within 10 minutes or so- and it tasted amazing! After waiting another 20 minutes or so, we get our single order of hot mess. Our waiter never checked on us to see if we needed anything or no other explanation on what is happening with our pizza. We waited another 20-30 minutes, by this time, we finished hot mess and just getting bored and questioning what is going on with this random food serving order. We waited total of around 40-50 minutes to finally have pizza on our table. We couldn't finish the pizza; only had like two slices, because we were full already. Overall, food is great. Just some burnt crust on pizza- which I don't mind. But our waiter was substandard. I saw another table with a group of 6, and they were desperate to find our waiter so that they can get the bill and head out. Obviously, our waiter never checked back with us either, nor did he explain the delay of this weird food serving situation. When I order food, I expect food to be served in a similar time, not having to wait 20 minutes in between each dish. He didn't seem like he wanted to be at work- maybe just a bad day for him. I never asked at any restaurant to take anything off from my bill, but I had to this time because we got tired of waiting for the next dish to arrive, and inattentiveness of our waiter who didn't seem to care our experience at his work place. read more

I have been here many times for their pizza which is pretty good-- healthful and fresh. Finally got to try the brunch food. I had their bagel and fries. The side, fries are fresh but a bit over cooked. Some parts are totally black. Bagel with bacon, egg and cheddar cheese. Decent. I love the way they cook the egg. Just remember that getting half and half is an option here. I order the Veggie Hot Mess. It's an assortment of veggies like Potatoes, mushrooms, and asparagus and topped off with two sun side eggs. The eggs' yolk was runny which added another thick flavoring to the potatoes and veggies. For my drink I order the drip coffee without any sugary or cream cause I like it black. One of the best pizzas I have ever had and I had it delivered, I can't imagine how amazing it is fresh out of the oven! There were 5 of us and 2 large pizzas were more than enough. The staff is so so nice, I accidentally put in the wrong address and they were very speedy to correct my mistake and get us our pizzas in less than 45 minutes. I had an amazing lunch today here. It was super nice out, but the outdoor seating wasn't set up yet! Fingers crossed it will be soon by my next visit :) TO THE POINT: Everything we got was super delicious and tasty. The garlic knots were huge!! You're not missing any flavor from it, but it comes with marinara sauce in case you're a dipper. I'm normally not an arugula person but the arugula salad was so addicting. I thought the marinara pizza had too much oil on it which made it a bit greasy. The clam and bacon was excellent. Our server was very friendly but was not very attentive. She waited a long time to take our order, did not fill our water, and never came to get our check. We had to go up front and ask on our own after waiting ~20 minutes of clearing our plate. Delicious thin crust pizza! One of my friends highly recommended this pizza place in Boston, so I had to give it a try. We got the margherita pizza, carnivore pizzas, and garlic knot supreme. Area Four is where it's at. Specifically, the Area Four in Cambridge (the overall ambiance beats out the one in the South End). I love the simple wooden tables, the abundant natural light, and the cute little cafe built on the side of the restaurant. Typically, I go for brunch, but today my brother and I went for lunch - as brunch is only served on weekends. I ordered the small margherita pizza ($13) and my brother got the lamb sandwich ($14). Both were delicious. My pizza was thin-crust and wood-fired, A4's specialty. My brother's sandwich was a generous size and gyro-esque. I enjoyed today's lunch, but I still prefer A4 as a brunch spot. They serve up brunch pizzas and fun egg dishes in little cast-iron skillets. While I could get a classic pizza or sandwich anywhere, I love that I can bring friends here and show them a one-of-a-kind brunch experience. I will definitely return. Area Four was the perfect place to celebrate my friend's 21st birthday! They were able to accommodate our party size of 14 and were very helpful and flexible as members of our party dropped and we arrived at a group of 9. The pizza was perfect to share as a group, and we ordered 3 large pizzas and 1 small total--which ended up being the perfect amount. We ordered the Hawaiian, margarita, anchovy, and the specialty pizza. They all had perfectly charred and crispy crust, and the dough in the middle of the pizza ended up a bit more chewy--I honestly didn't mind at all--as it creates a wonderful combination of textures. The anchovy pizza however was really not my style--but the others were delicious, with ample toppings packed with flavor. We provided them with a cake as well, which they took to the back, placed candles in, and brought out for my friend. They then took it back to cut it for us--a nice touch. This is by far one of the best pizzas I've had. I'm a thin crust lover and this was the thinnest crust I've ever seen on a pizza. More importantly, it wasn't soggy in the middle, which is a common issue I've faced with thin crust pizzas. I added mushrooms to the marinara to add a little more sustenance and flavor. It has now happened to me there more than once that when not tipping for a to go coffee I am deprioritized in the queue for receiving a coffee by 6-8 positions vs my colleague right ahead of me who ordered a similar drink and tipped (also for to go). In my personal opinion that is unacceptable and if the to go prices do not cover a sufficient salary for staff, then by all means increase prices, but don't force people into tipping. read more

Pretty good thin crust pizza. My favorite is the bacon and clam pizza, which is probably the only reason I would come back other than the garlic knots which were divine with the dipping Mariana. The crust of the pizza could use an extra couple minutes in the oven. And I would warn that the carnivore pizza was extremely salty. And you really can't go wrong with Margherita. A solid four. I've been wanting to go to this place for months because the pictures on Yelp look so good. I always go with a margherita pizza. It's a classic that's hard to really mess up, and if a restaurant does, it really undermines my perception of their overall quality. The pizza basically had everything there is to have in a great pizza--chewy dough, fresh mozzarella slices, and basil leaves. I was relatively pleased. It smelled just like the pizza from this pizza joint in Georgetown I loved as a kid. I think the pizza needed more basil leaves and, the more important ingredient, tomato sauce. I think my friend's Hawaiian pizza had more tomato sauce than my margherita... Speaking of which, I usually dislike Hawaiian pizzas and I always make fun of him for liking them. Terrific night at Area Four. We sat at the bar where service from Lee was outstanding. Her recommendation for cocktails ("Work from Foam", "Casino Rye-ale" and "Beso de Fuego") and for food (Buratta app and a soppressata and mushroom pizza) were absolutely SPOT ON! Lee herself was attentive and engaging, even remembering our names. The food was excellent, especially the SOPPRESSATA and MUSHROOM pizza, which would be on any other restaurants Specials list. These guys have nailed it, and know it. The menu is small but brilliantly conceived and almost every item delivered. Here's what we ordered: Beer flight. Imaginative choices in both drafts and bottles (see photo, current at the time of my visit) and you can get 4 five-ounce samples for $12. Five stars. Brussels Sprouts/Kale Salad. This is good for you, right? Sure didn't taste like it. A creamy dressing rich with parmesan or pecorino. My 13 year old gobbled it up. Five stars, with a bonus point for bringing it before the garlic knots. Garlic Knots (basic). Puts usual pizza parlor garlic knots to shame, and the heated marinara accompaniment is good enough to eat as a soup. Five stars. Ramen. Got this because my teen is a ramen fanatic, but as he said afterward, why would you order ramen in a pizza place? The slab of hoisin pork belly was generous but the noodles were flaccid and the broth was rich without being interesting. Two stars. Sausage and banana pepper pizza. Just as there is no world record in the marathon, there can be no five star pizza because of the variability. But this was very good. The crust was bubbly on the edges but falling apart in the middle. Maybe this was intentional but I would have liked a little more structure. Four stars. Skillet butterscotch cookie with caramel ice cream. They take raw cookie dough and cook it in the wood fired oven so you get the freshest, hottest cookie you have ever tasted.
