My husband and I are big sushi lovers, were originally from Cali, we know good/decent sushi. This place was ok, it was a bit pricey for the quality but that's also something we have run into since moving to Arizona and looking for good sushi. A very underrated sushi restaurant right in our neighborhood. The prices were pretty good considering everything right now and the quality was phenomenal! Can't wait to go back. I'm surprised by some negative reviews of this great, neighborhood, family-owned sushi place. I've not had poor service in any of our many visits and my takeout order is always correct. My husband is very particular about freshness of the fish and has never had a complaint about Ari Sushi. All sushi has been very good, spicy edamame, ramen, teriyaki, salads.... all delicious. No need to go to the over-priced, trendy, sushi places with Ari in our back yard! read more

California roll listed as crab, avocado and cucumber. Came with some sort of nasty mayonnaise that I can only assume had a little bit of crab in it. Don't trust the descriptions. It was gross. read more

Our family has been going to Ari Sushi since right around the time they very first opened. My son, who is allergic to certain foods, has been ordering the same thing for over ten years. He is now 23 years old. He orders food from there for pick up all the time. Last week, he went to pick up his usual order, California rolls with no cucumber and no avocado. When he picked up the food, he opened it to check it was correct (as most people with allergies do) and it contained avocado in the rolls - actually even more than usual. He politely approached the woman who handed him his order and she said she specifically took his order, and he asked for extra avocado. He again politely told her he would never do that, because he is ALLERGIC. She began raising her voice calling him a liar, (repeatedly) and that he did order extra avocado, telling him to scrape it off because she was refusing to remake the rolls. She continued to yell at him. This is extremely poor customer service and we have noticed the kindness of the employees (owners) slowly start to diminish the past few years. After this display of horrible treatment of a customer, we will never go back to Ari Sushi. read more

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in all of Arizona! The food is always phenomenal, from the nigiri sushi, rolls, bento box, all the way to the chocolate mochi! The food never disappoints. This place reminds me of a sushi restaurant in LA or NYC, no frilly decor but extremely authentic and delicious food. If you are looking for an authentic sushi spot, this is the place. read more

Furthermote, their polish is to have customer may feel full at any menu regardless price. You may be guaranteed to be happy with this restaurant. We arrived at this restaurant sometime between 7:05 and 7:10pm for dinner. We had to flag down a waitress at about 7:20 to order drinks and our meal. I ordered teriyaki chicken and miso soup, and my friends split about four types of sushi rolls. At 7:30, I received my bowl of soup. At about 7:45, the waitress brought a second bowl of soup and set it in front of me. I said I'd already gotten soup, and she apologized and took it to a different table. At about 7:55, the waitress brought two plates of salad and set them in front of my friends. Those were also for another table. For the record, there are about ten tables total in the whole restaurant. My friends were facing the door and pointed out that many people who had arrived after us had already received sushi. At 8:05, over forty minutes after the order was placed, the waitress brought my teriyaki. Nothing else. At 8:15, a friend asked about their dinner, and commented that other tables were getting their rolls quicker. The waitress said that, basically, one of the chefs was faster than the other, and it was all the luck of the draw which one you got. She then said that the chef was about to START their order. What!? The waitress, who was trying to be nice about the whole thing and really was rushing around, brought a plate of cucumber salad (I think?), which was a nice gesture though none of us really wanted it. At 8:20, the sushi started to come out a bit at a time. For the record, the teriyaki was okay, and the sushi was pretty good. We didn't get any discounts, aside from the free salad. In short, stick to take-out. read more

This is an unassuming sushi restaurant with a surprising charisma that will keep you coming back. As soon as you walk in, the sushi chef will yell something in a welcoming tone, and the hostess will come and seat you. She is super friendly and will make sure everything for you is good. I ordered off of the happy hour menu and was super excited to get a Kirin 22oz for $6. Pretty dang good deal. My favorite thing about this place is that a number of people walked in that were clearly regulars, and the hostess had all of their orders memorized. She even remembered that one gentleman had some issues with shrimp when she was recommending him to try something else! The restaurant itself isn't huge but make sure to dine in. Just don't sit at the bar if you get there between 5 and 6pm, because the sun shines directly on the bar when the door is opened and can be blinding. read more

I use to work in restaurants so I'm usually very forgiving but their system lacks basic quality necessary to have timely consistency that promotes people wanting to come back. I've been here multiple times. For the price, it's alright. The food is pretty good but I recently went and the service wasn't great. Keep in mind, we got there around 5:15 and there were about 3/4 small tables already seated so not very busy. I ordered 2 different nigiri style sushi pieces so 4 pieces in total and it took 20+ minutes. My friend ordered a baked roll which is 4 pieces and it arrived well after I finished my pieces of sushi. I then ordered a classic roll when rush started to hit and it took around 30 minutes as I watched new tables get food before us. We were there for nearly 2 hours and it took incredibly long to receive any of our food. read more

We have been coming to Ari Sushi for awhile now and it's always been good but with their new Chef Chef Yama it is next level sushi now! He recommended we try his signature roll the Salmon Belly Osaka (which we would have never tried without his recommendation) and it was INCREDIBLE! We were so thrilled we took his advice and had it! We also had the other rolls that were on special that day and they were all so mouth watering, flavor explosion in your mouth good!! The wait staff was on top of everything ensuring we had refills when needed, extra napkins and anything else we could have needed! The prices were great as well! Service is REALLY terrible. Our female server spoke bad English and was very rushed in taking the order and drinks. She gave us the impression that we were an inconvenience to her. I suspect this restaurant is a husband/wife team and the wife is nasty. Rushed, abrupt and not pleasant. The food was good and the sushi was excellent, but the service will have me looking elsewhere. Been a fan of Ari for a while but just getting around to writing a review. Their sushi is incredible. Fresh, perfectly rolled and a blast of flavor. The atmosphere is very nice. Not a big restaurant but fun and has a wall of photos of the costumers. The owner cares a LOT about his customers. He always comes out and greets them and makes sure you know he appreciates your business. It's clear he hires staff that is the same way or he just trains them well because they're extremely friendly and always greet you with a smile. The only flaw is the pricing. It's a little high and they don't offer happy hour or reverse happy hour, if so I'd be here almost every other week. I don't mind paying what I pay when I do come because the owner is so kind. I would 100% recommend this restaurant read more

I love love love me some raw fish but have been hesitant to try things in the North Valley. I don't know why. Maybe it's that extra 15 minutes from the airport? Anyhow, great experience here last week. Service was efficient although not overly friendly. The miso soup was very good. You can't beat the lunch special - 3 rolls for $13. The downside is that there are only about 8 rolls to choose from and there are so many interesting looking rolls that aren't included in the special. We did get the salmon sake sashimi and it was out of this world. How I would eat to have a plate of that all to myself. Will definitely be back. read more
