We had a large party (10 people) reservation on a Friday night. When making the reservation, we requested indoor seating, however upon arrival, we were seated outside. There was absolutely no one seated inside and it continued to stay empty up until close, so I'm unsure as to why we weren't able to move. Overall, the food was good - our table had almost everything on the menu...from the meatballs, octopus, duck, cod, bone marrow, all the desserts . I'm rating Arlo 3 stars because of the poor service experience we had. Our server was scattered and left long periods of time between checking on us. After losing patience, we often needed to get up and head to the inside bar to get drink orders fulfilled. Coursing our meals was a little better (the majority of us ordered pre-fixe), but when it was time for the check, we waited in silence for again. We probably won't be back anytime soon - we're hoping to kinks get worked out! read more

This was a last minute decision, and it turned out to be enjoyable. On Saturday, September 18th, we got a reservation without issue, arrived on time, and were promptly seated out in the outdoor patio area. The cool breeze, open air patio overlooking the pool area and several firepit, seating areas, gave off the vibe of a Hotel or community setting. We overlooked the menu and decided on drinks. Our waiter, I believe a manager, promptly arrived, and took our drink. After our drinks arrived we ordered our food. I ordered the Taste of Ribeye, cooked rare. The order felt like it took a little long to come out, I wasn't actually timing it, but I attribute that more to us not ordering appetizers and the fact there was a large wedding party being tended to. When the food arrived, my steak was cooked to order. It wasn't what I expected presentation wise, I had in my head a large ribeye, but realized after, the menu clearly says coulotte grilled tenderloin. The steak had good flavor, I want to say 15-18 ounces in size (I could be way off, it could've been more, but I don't believe less). It came out as two pieces, and both were good, tender, but could've used a smidge more salt. As for the asparagus and mushrooms and the rest of the food, it was a good compliment to the dish. After dinner I ordered the Smoked Dulce de Leche Creme Brulee. It was very delicious. It came out covered by a glass dish holding the smoke. It was very delicious and the smoke added a very thin layer of flavor to the caramelized sugar on top. Not in an offensive way, but a very flavorful way. The overall price for the four of us, including drinks, was around $320. My friends had their own concerns over their meals, but this is strictly about mine. Overall, my bill ran me about $70. I felt it to be a little pricey for one drink, dinner, and a dessert, but not offensively priced. I expected a slightly bigger steak at the price point, but I wasn't disappointed. Good meal, atmosphere, and friendly staff. We are considering coming back for dinner and planning a more hang out and enjoy-some-drinks type of experience next time. read more

I got the prix fixe (one appetizer, one entree, and a dessert) and my friend got a salad. It took 15 minutes to get water which was never refilled unless explicitly asked. The appetizer took about 20 minutes to get to the table and the entree course an hour after that. The restaurant was very empty so crowds were not an issue. By the time I got my entree, their cod, the fish was so dry and unflavored that I really wanted to send it back had I not been starving waiting over an hour for the food. I don't understand how one could butcher such a delicate and flaky fish. read more

I don't know how to start. I was going to be at the T & C for a three day event. I tried booking online for the weekend of the event. Completely booked. When we got to the site, I noted that 1/3 of the tables were empty, so I asked to be waitlisted for a spot at the bar, as it is a beautiful site and the menu was very intriguing. No problem. I got a call, there was a cancellation for a table @ 7:30. Cool. We arrived and immediately seated. Our server took our order. Two drinks and one app, Pulpo and Passion. After a 10-15 minutes our drinks arrived. After another 15 minutes my companion overheard two servers one a tall blonde with a ponytail discussing our table "Why doesn't that table gave food?" She asked our server. We laughed about it and drank. Two tables are seated at 8, next to us. At 8:30 I realize that one if those tables received their order and we hadn't even gotten our app. I went to the hostess and let her know the situation. All the while, we haven't seen our server. At 8:40 our server brings the app that I ordered and a tuna tartare ( didn't order) I let her know that we didn't order it and she tells us to keep it and she would take it off of the bill, so we do, since we didn't order it to begin with. The octopus was so chewy that I couldn't eat it. The panna cotta was nice, though. The tuna was room temp. Within 5 minutes of getting our apps the main comes out ( really?!) I ordered the rabbit three ways and companion ordered the halibut. I asked her to take back the octopus as it was inedible. She took it off the bill. Well, we realized why our order took so long, it had been sitting under heat lamps for who knows how long. The halibut was so dry I choked when I tasted it. My rabbit was also tough and dried out. When asked how our meal was, our faces couldn't hide the truth. She offered to re-fire our meals but at that point , we were over it. We just wanted to finish and leave. Server brought us champagne and kept telling us that she wanted us to be happy. If that were the truth she should never had forgotten either to put in our order or get us our food that was sitting under heat lamps and dried out. We decided to take a little staycation with the family and had heard about Town & County's newly renovated hotel, pools, and restaurants so we were excited to try it all out using a resort day pass. Let me tell you, DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! BRAVO to whoever reimagined it all! AMAZING STAFF AND INCREDIBLE FOOD! We were there for dinner after a super long & fun day at the pool with our 4 yr old and 6 month old baby. We weren't dressed to impress (which we totally regretted and not required but it's nice to dress up) & the staff was friendly and genuine regardless. Very disappointed by my second experience here. My first experience, we had great service and great food in an incredible ambience. Unfortunately, the second time the food was not as good as the first time and the service lacked a lot to be desired. It took about an hour to an hour and a half after receiving our appetizers to get our main course. We also asked for water two to three times before actually getting refilled. I think it was our particular waiter that was especially bad. The waiter next to him actually kept helping us and was asked multiple times by their supervisor to help because the other person was nowhere to be found. He never checked in on us or gave us an update on our food. Furthermore, the tables were not all 6 feet apart as some were less than a foot back to back. Such a disappointment after an amazing first experience. If our waiter had actually checked in on us at least a handful of times throughout our 2.5 hour dining experience, it would have been fine, even with the long wait for food. Service recovery and over site is definitely needed on busy nights. read more

When you think upscale dining in San Diego, I will guarantee that a Hotel Circle restaurant is not what comes to mind. Boy, shame on me for being narrow minded. I had seen a lot of social media posts of the food at ARLO which was what convinced me to check this place out. As I walked through the parking lot on to hotel grounds, I was completely blown away. I thought, "wait, am I at the Town and Country or at a boutique hotel?" Apparently T&C threw in a ton of coin renovating the place and boy does it show! This hotel is a mid-century modern lover's dream come true! It appears that no expense was spared in the remodel and building of ARLO. ARLO has a huge dining room and a chic bar. There was a good amount of tables for al fresco dining as well (which is what we chose). It was beautiful. We had a view of the pool to the front. To the right there was a lounge lawn as well as an outdoor bar...all this under the twinkle of market lights. The ambiance of all this was so dreamy. The service was impeccable. Apparently the chef worked at many fine dining establishments and I tell you what, that experience is very evident on the service floor. The demeanor and poise of the wait staff genuinely reminded me of my meals at michelin star restaurants! Of course all that experience is evident in the food. Everything we had that evening was amazing. The cuisine is California-Baja with fresh and locally sourced ingredients. To start we had the lamb meatballs which I highly recommend. It packed a flavorful punch all while still subtle and delicious. For our mains we had the California Paella and the Flat Iron Carne Asada. The paella was the best I've ever had! It was hearty and generous. And the Prawns...massive! Heed this warning. DO NOTE SKIP DESSERT! We had the Honey Beehive which consisted of apricot mousse, pound cake, swiss meringue, and flambéd (sp?) tableside. It not only was the best dessert I've ever had but was also a wonderful tableside show. A date night would not be complete without cocktails. We had the MEMORIES OF MAUI, BLUR, and PALOMA. Ok, so whoever is at the helm of the beverage program here...BRAVO! The drinks were so refreshing, delicious and very very aesthetically pleasing. All in all, our experience at ARLO was nothing short of fantastic! From the ambiance, to the food, the drinks, the service...all impeccable! I highly recommend you pay them a visit! read more

Came back to have some more of my favorite dishes (octopus, lamb meatballs) and to try some of the chef's new additions: the taste of ribeye and the halibut. Both were so amazing! The ribeye was my favorite- there are two different cuts and they're cooked really differently which made it a very unique and super tasty dish! It came with some delicious mushrooms and some red wine infused salt which was such an amazing flavor I've never had anywhere else. Love this spot and will keep coming back! read more

Was really excited to dine here having read the amazing reviews on here and OpenTable. But the whole experience definitely was a miss! I do have to say that they have a gorgeous decor/dining patio and the ambience was fantastic. All the tables were spaced out and well set up prior to our arrival. For a party of 8, we were relieved to see adequate spacing for us and other guests. The heat lamps were also a life saver. Our meals came out absolutely well plated and too beautiful to eat... after 1 hour 40 minutes since we were seated. I understand this is fine dining but definitely they could have made the wait a bit more bearable. As far as the taste went, it was just average. I got the Rib eye medium rare and it was definitely too chewy. We also split a California paella for the table. And... we caught an uncooked shrimp in the mix! Our waiter was notified and he offered to exchange the shrimp for us. And that's exactly what he did. 5 minutes later with another shrimp... fully cooked and plated on its own delivered to our table. Overall, for the amount of money we paid for dinner, Arlo didn't deliver at all. Hopefully some improvements can be made, especially the wait time for food. P.S. Don't follow Google Maps for navigation. It'll take to you to the convention center on Fashion Valley. Just look for the orange Arlo sign and enter on Hotel Circle N instead. read more

We had an amazing experience. This is a hidden paradise. It feels like you're at an all inclusive resort. Amazing ambiance, great music and the heaters kept us warm on the patio. This is an EXPERIENCE, not somewhere you go for an in and out dinner, so disregard the bad reviews about wait time and sit back and enjoy the vibe. It is set up for you to order 3-5 courses. The drinks are to die for and the food was truly impeccable. I highly recommend the charcuterie de mer, ribeye, clams and mussels! There was 6 of us on a Wednesday night which is coincidentally half off wine (bottles that are $100 or less) so we ordered 3. We ordered 2 of everything: lamb meatballs, striped bass tartar, pulpo passion, funghi flatbread, waygu coulotte, potato purée, and 1 T&C pasta, 1 order of baby Brussels, & the coup de grâce: the jerk spiced veggie churrasco. For dessert we tried all 4 and had espresso martinis. Definitely indulged and feasted and definitely had zero regrets. Everything was well orchestrated and plated beautifully. With our in-laws coming to town, a birthday and anniversary celebration, we thought we'd try a new restaurant we had been hearing a lot about - ARLO. What a perfect evening and celebration! Although right off the freeway in Mission Valley, you feel like you're in 1950's Palm Springs and it truly feels like you're on vacation. With social distancing and COVID restrictions, we sat outside on the patio and had great views of the hotel bar and pool. The inside of the restaurant looks beautiful and I look forward to returning when things normalize. We had excellent service - from the GM, Chef, and multiple servers checking in on us throughout the evening. We followed personal recommendations from the Chef and server and they did not disappoint. The unique blending of ingredients make the dishes playful, beautiful, and delicious. For gourmet, elegant dining, the portions are good size and well-priced for the value. We weren't sure we would have room for dessert but so glad we ordered the S'Mores. We tried about half the menu and I would recommend it all. I look forward to returning when my parents visit and treating them to the other half of the menu! ARLO is a great find and is an excellent date night destination! read more

Nice spread for us 4 ladies and we all enjoyed the flavors and portions. Heard about this new restaurant so we had to try it. Impressive restaurant situated in the big plaza at the Town and Country hotel. Don't be fooled, this isn't any restaurant hotel. It's contemporary with huge windows and sliders that open up to the patio. As you look out, there is a large pool area and two bars on either side. Lots going on with many people walking around. This was a good experience but I think overpriced. The waitress is quick to give the bio of the chef which is impressive and the food presentation was great. The corkage fee is high at $35. We were celebrating a birthday so they brought out a cute cake pop. It was on our bill for $11 but it was supposed to be complimentary. I quickly pointed this out and it was removed. The service at this restaurant was top notch and they have some of the best cocktails I've had in San Diego!! In terms of food, everything I tried was FANTASTIC and beautifully presented. One of the worst dining experiences We have had in a long time. When we arrived seated outside. The pool is very close and They had a movie being shown for the kids so the back ground sound for the restaurant was " Cars " being played very loudly which was not appreciated. It took 20 minutes for a server to come to the table after being seated. We ordered the lamb meatballs which were acceptable but served with naan bread which tasted extremely salty and stale. It was inedible. For entree we shared the California Paella. This was very bland and lacked any flavor of paella. We left 2/3 If the dish. When the server clears the dish, she did not ask how the food was or whether everything was Ok and did not question why we left so much of the meal. We also had to ask for clean plates and a serving spoon. The service throughout the meal was unprofessional and sloppy. I would not recommend this restaurant until they have their act together as it's over priced for mediocre food and poor service read more

Multiple issues with my brunch here this morning. Poor service. Waited over 15 minutes for water. Also, I am celiac and there were menu items marked gluten-free that the waitress told me had flour in them. This is unacceptable and frankly dangerous to mark items containing gluten as gluten-free. Next, I was given scrambled eggs instead of over easy. Last, I gave my waitress my parking ticket to validate. It was not validated and I had to pay $10. Very disappointed. Will not be returning and will make sure to let all of my gluten-free friends know about the blatantly false advertising. read more
