Visited the place for the first time yesterday just randomly for dinner on a weekday. The place is more spacious than I anticipated and wasn't very busy. We sat at the bar, it had a power outlet which is a nice touch. On to the food and service. Bar tenders were super friendly very attentive. There's free chips and salsa. I ordered a basic michelada. Pretty standard. I had the aguachile which was BOMB. Also had the birria tacos also very yummy and flavorful. For dessert we tried the churro with ice cream. It's a warm churro-like pastr with the ice cream drizzled with caramel was the dessert I didn't know I needed. Definitely worth a try. read more

Had dinner from Armando's delivered. First time trying it. The chicken nachos were huge. There was enough for three people. I really like the nacho cheese they use. More chips would have been nice because they were buried under all the toppings. The chicken had a good flavor. Also had the skirt steak tacos. I am traveling for work so I am eating alone on a Friday night. They gave me a choice of a couple of tables. I chose the high top. When you eat alone, restaurants often want to seat you at the bar. I don't like eating at the bar. My waitress was prompt. She made a drink recommendation...La Korita, which was excellent. I ordered the chips and guacamole, always wonderful. I believe the chips are made in house. For the entree, I ordered the linguine in chipotle cream sauce with chicken. OMG! This was amazing! It's spicy but I love spicy. I'm a San Jose native and in my humble opinion it's hard to find quality Mexican food, mostly just average in my experience other than certain food trucks. I've eaten at Armando's a few times and have had the Birria tacos, nachos, burrito, and quesadilla. All of them were very generous portions and absolutely delicious and tasted fresh and authentic. The rating is primarily for the service. The restaurant wasn't busy and there were a lot of bartenders and servers just hanging out. The time in between Ferris f our orders in and getting our drinks and food took way too long. My friends got beer, I wasn't sure what I had wanted yet. It's $1.50 per taco, and you can order it with any meat except shrimp, and the quesabirria isn't included. I got the al pastor, carnitas, and birria. I liked the carnitas out of the 3. The birria was decent, and the pastor lacked flavor. The salsas could use more heat. I ordered the jamaica to wash it down. That was refreshing! Overall, tacos are ok. Came through on a Saturday for lunch. They have awesome drinks (La Korita - guava and tequila! Shrimp chavela - served in a large goblet cup with tasty chamoy and large shrimps! And so many others I wanted to try.) it was pretty busy, with all the tables in the front and seating at the bar full and even people stopping by for to go orders. They play good music. Chips and salsa for appetizer! Crispy and delicious chips! And according to my table, they all loved the salsa. I highly recommend the sushi roll that has the carne asada, bacon, & imitation crab. I forget what it's called and forgot to take a picture of the menu. Tacos Locos is amazing combo with juicy carne asada & shrimp! The food portion here is HUUUGE, now we get why it is pricier. I went to eat here today with my mom and my three kids. First of all the service was so bad. I cannot believe how I was treated. I went in for the $50 meal for two people first off. I was not able to choose my sides. she said that it was whatever it came with second of all she brought me burned churros and I told her that I didn't order no churros. I ordered the molten lava cake for my dessert and this is what she brought me melted ice cream no strawberries no whipped cream cold cake then to finish it off I told her just to give me the check cause I just wanted to leave. I was so disappointed and so sad. I checked the receipt not only did they overcharged me for everything I ate the waitress charged me a party fee saying that I came with a lot of people I went with my mother and my three kids all under 11 years old so I was charged $22 extra just for an excessive party add-on. I ended up paying about $160 and instead of the $50 that I was told i was going to pay.. super dissapointed because on saturday i talked to a blond lady that worked there and she was super helpfull and she told me to come during the week for the special.. well when the owners are not in the restaurant what are you doing mis treating people over charging them.. i still ended up giving them $20 in tips becuase it was the right thing to do but i just feel bad because when i talked to the lady with blond hair she was amazing thats why i came back very disgusting waitreses work there.. i tryed to talk to a manager or the owner and they just hung up on me i called back and they did not pick up my call read more
