We went to Arnies because my brother loves the lasagna and we were celebrating his 50th birthday. A party of 8, i had requested to be downstairs as my mother is disabled, i was told they could not do it. After arriving we received meager service and waited to long for our drinks, at this time we ordered. Salads were fair sized. Dinner was a whole other story, the lasagna (5 servings) was topped with tomato paste, as was the chicken parmigiana, the Alfredo was thin and both had no real flavor. The meat sauce on the spaghetti was very bland and the sausage tasted over boiled. We cleared our own table before the cake came. That is when we received the check and asked to leave, because they had overbooked their tables and a 10 top was already there. We surely will not revisit. read more

It started off as 5, waited so long, it turned into a 4, got the appetizer and it went back to 5, then waited and waited and waited for dinner it went down to 4, the food was great! The decor reminded me of any little Italian place (mom and pop style) in Utica, Rome, Albany, NYC and made me feel great!! Keeping it at a 4. They need help here. They need to hire more staff. My favorite Italian restaurant in Plattsburgh. Consistently great. My favorite is the lasagna. It's my favorite of any lasagna I've had. The pizza is unique and you will either love it or like it. The fried ravioli is made in house and really good. The dining room is up stairs but you can eat in the bar downstairs if you want. It's a must try If you're visiting Plattsburgh. read more

Arnies is an incredible restaurant! It's like your going back in time ! I had the chicken parm and French fries as well as there lemon cake, it was all so flavorful from the frys to the chicken to that sweet delectable cake. They also give free bread that is good! The best part is that amazing Arnies sauce, they should consider selling it! It's a bit pricey but not too bad for what you get ! Great job Arnies ! read more

Just to be clear, let me start by noting that Arnie's serves American Italian food, not the kind of Italian food you'd get in Italy. It's a family restaurant, so there are people with kids, and old people and people on dates--but it's not chic or cosmopolitan in any way--food, decor, whatever. It is, however, a nice little restaurant, that I have enjoyed every time I've been there over the last thirty five years or so (I was one of those children there years ago). Arnie's has staying power. My only complaint is that the garlic bread is not what it used to be. When lived in Plattsburgh years ago, the garlic bread came as a small loaf wrapped in foil, which kept it from drying out, and left it soft, hot, and garlic-buttery. Now, sadly, it's a bit more like toast. read more

This great Italian Restaurant is a staple to Plattsburgh. Their Italian cuisine is superb and can not be out ranked in Plattsburgh. Everything Susan B. has explained is right on the mark. Prices are reasonable and service is great. read more

My friend and I were local frequenters to this restaurant until we started noticing a bartender giving away free shots to young men. One evening recently we noticed her (Jessica is what one gentleman called her) flashing her breasts for presumably a big tip from her bar crowd. As a young professional woman myself, it upsets me to see other young women with such low self respect. We will not be returning, at least not on Jessica's shifts. read more

Italian- American food, all homemade. Always crowded due to the wonderful food, waits are always short. Portion sizes are very large and prices are average. The menu isn't huge, but what you get is quality. I reccommend the Egg Plant Parm. :) read more

Local Institution but its banner days are over. Non-distinct Italian American food. Prices are high and the service can be lack luster. Might have been the standard bearer in the 1960's but needs a lot of work to make it interesting again. read more

Arnies antipasto salad is the best. I was wondering if anyone has the homemade dressing he makes for the antipasto salad. Great American family-style Italian. Don't look for anything as fancy as "Vodka" sauce or "Carbonara" - just old fashioned marinara and alfredo available here. The basics - pizza, veal parm, etc. - are done with that homecooking flair that make this place a great stop in downtown Plattsburgh. Throw in the fact that it has been in business for over fifty years (clearly evidenced by the awesome non-retro decor) and you have to give it the respect it's due. read more

The lasagna here was very bland, it did not taste or appear homemade. To top it off it came with what closely represented, 2 slices of Wonder Bread. I won't be back anytime soon. Plattsburgh needs a good Italian Restaurant. Sadly, this place is is an injustice to Italians everywhere read more

While the decor is old and could use some updating it still has a cozy feel. The food is a mixed bag. The marinara is delicious but the salad / bread are lacking. A slice of homemade bread with a slice of mozzarella melted on it is not garlic cheese bread , and the salad while crisp and green both cost way too much. I don't care for a la carte and it seemed that is what the menu is. Too expensive for what you get . The service was fine . read more

I have eaten here several times. I find that the best way to review a restaurant is to eat there more than once. I find that the best value if you are on a budget is to order one of the five daily specials they offer. The portions are plenty large enough and the food tastes awesome. If you aren't on a budget, they also have a large variety of bigger meals. I've had some of those as well...can't beat it. I make it a point to eat there whenever I can. I understand that there are people that are harder to please than others may be but this place can please them all. read more
