The place has a great atmosphere with good service. However, the food was average at best. As a Memphian, I've eaten at most BBQ restaurants in town and found this to be the worst. Rib tips were smoky and the sauce was a great complement. Sharon was a doll. Great service and food. Collard greens were flavorful. Baked beans were pretty standard and only thing I wasn't wowed by, until I added some sauce and then they were great. I have traveled far and wide . I might have ended my car warranty ( I'll check it once I get home. I visited Memphis for a few days and ask a few folks , where can I get some good ribs . Few folks said "try Arnold's " . It was good . These ribs had a real smoke line . The meet was tender and good without the sauce . The sauce was delicious and the fried okra cooked to perfection. Spent one night in Memphis on our way back home to Michigan. We waned to have barbecue while we were there. Our son told us to try charlie vergos' rendezvous. They were closed for pit repair or something like that so we went to Arnold's. Arnold's did not disappoint. We had the ribs for two. They were great. The covid numbers were up so they were using social distancing practices by only using every other table, which was good. We stayed at the LA Quinta so we were able to just walk to Arnold's. Our road trip took us from New Orleans through Mississippi and ended in Memphis. This is by far the best BBQ there is. Plenty of parking as well. I had Rib Tip Dinner with beans and fried okra. The homemade banana pudding is the best . The sassy sauce is also for sale here. The best sauce, it made the entire meal. I'm going to remember this place for sure. This restaurant has some of the best barbecue I've ever had!!!! We went in about an hour before closing but the food and service was still great. This family owned spot makes you feel at home and the staff was so nice and friendly. We felt like we were visiting with family. The location is kind of hidden but it's the perfect find! I had a wicked craving for ribs and Arnold's was highly recommended. The restaurant had just opened so I had the place to myself. Sharon was adorable, very attentive and perky. I ordered the rib plate with collards and potato salad. The collards were delicious, very tender and flavorful though, disappointingly, I didn't detect any bacon. The potato salad had the right amount of vinegar and both sides were a good portion. The ribs, oh the ribs. Sadly this is where Arnold's failed me. I didn't detect any dry rub on them and the sauce that was provided, was delicious and sadly very necessary, without it you are left with a very bland and somewhat overcooked piece of meat. I had my heart set on well seasoned, fall off the bone perfection and unfortunately Arnold's failed to deliver. My quest for best Memphis ribs continues. read more

Arnold's was amazing! We are from Texas so we were looking for a more "Memphis style" bbq place. We had the ribs with an assortment of sides. Our server Gabby was SO kind, personable and attentive. The sweet tea is phenomenal as well. I grew up in deep north east Texas so GOOD sweet tea is hard to find for me and this was like my grandma's! Hidden in an alley behind a doggie daycare - am staying in the area and smelled the delicious smoke last night. Stopped by for lunch today and sat on the small outdoor patio. We ordered the small lamb sandwich and the large pork sandwich plate. My friend likes lamb so decided to give it a try since a BBQ lamb sandwich isn't something we have come across. It has slaw on it and he enjoyed it. I liked the pork sandwich although I didn't really taste any smoke. The slaw on the sandwiches was good - added the slight crunch and a little flavor but didn't take away from the meat. After suffering though what seems like the longest, coldest, most miserable winter of our lives, my wife and I decided we'd take a week or so and get the hell out of Wyoming. The day we left it was 14 degrees, snowing sideways, and there were nearly as many cars stuck in drifts or upside down on the side of the road, as there were on the road. We went through a bunch of places neither of us had been before and settled on Arkansas and Tennessee, with Memphis being the last stint of our stay. When we talked with friends who had been to Memphis before, they suggested various places to go, things to see, and of course, what to eat. Graceland, Sun Records, the Civil Rights Museum, and BBQ. We got into town in the early evening, too late for sight seeing, but not too late for food. We Yelped "BBQ" near our Air BnB and up popped Arnold's. Google told us it was .4 miles away, but Google lies. It ended up being about 3/4 of a mile walk. As we got close to where Siri was telling us to go, we wondered if she had taken us on a detour. Siri took us to a doggy boarding school. Luckily, we looked close enough to see a sign on the side of the dog run pointing us to Arnold's, right around the corner. For crying out loud, this review is starting to look like the damn stories on a Pinterest recipe that take forever to get to before finding the directions to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Get to the damn food, Tim. Ok. We go in, get seated, and wait for our server, Sherry, to bring us menus, and asks us what we'd like to drink. My wife ordered a soda, and I ordered a local beer, a Ghost River Zippin' Pippin' IPA. My wife ordered a beef brisket sandwich with barbecued beans, cole slaw, and fries. I asked Sherry what she would order if she was having Memphis BBQ for the first time. She said she'd order the ribs, so that's what I ordered. She also recommended the beans, and fried okra on the side. The beer came first. I'm a bit of an IPA fan, and this one was fantastic. The best I'd had on the trip so far. Good enough that it was mostly gone before the food arrived. I let Sherry know i'd probably need another. Finally, the food. (Don't get the impression that when I say 'finally' I mean it took awhile. The food arrived pretty fast.). I just mean... well... finally. I wasn't sure what to try first. The ribs were stacked over a cup of BBQ sauce. The beans were in a small bowl, next to a bowl of fried okra. The Okra seemed the easiest, so I popped one into my mouth. I probably should have waited a minute or two for it to cool down. HOT! A sip of the Zippin Pippin cooled the roof of my mouth down enough I could try a rib. So here's the dilemma. Does one eat the rib With or Without the BBQ sauce? Is there a right way? Would I be breaking a rule if I ate it plain? I struggle with that decision for an easy three or four seconds. Plain. Holy hell... the meat melted off the bone into my mouth. The flavor was amazing. Why would anyone ever need the sauce? I guess I'd better find out. So the next rib was doused with sauce. And now I know why people love the sauce... and don't. I solved the problem by eating one rib with, the next without... until there was just a pile of bones left on my plate. My wife hates it when I lick my fingers. She was not happy... there was a lot of licking happening. The beans. My only complaint about the beans was that there was only one serving. Thankfully my wife had eaten to the point of nearly bursting and left two or three beans in the bottom of her bowl. I was able to get just a few more into my mouth. Seriously, I never wanted the beans to end. Enough already, right? Wrong. To quell my wife's foul mood from having to listen to me sucking sauce off my fingers, I decided to appease her with a peach cobbler. I though it would be rude to make her eat dessert alone, so ordered a chocolate cheesecake. Yeah... I know.... Unbuttoning your top button in a public place is probably inappropriate, so I didn't. I suffered through the pain of my pants cutting off circulation to my legs. So let's talk about service. It's rare, but sometimes we get lucky and get that server. The server who enjoys what they do, and is good at it. The server who gives a $#!+ about the customer, and makes the experience that much better. Sherry is that server. She not only helped us with the food part, she guided these Wyoming people to the right places, and even helped track down the best donuts in Memphis. (Review to come later). She took her time to research answers to questions we Memphis newbies had and I'm sure our trip will be better because of it. Ok... short story long... eat at Arnold's! read more

We travel through Memphis each year and just found this gem! After trying many places in the area, we saw Arnold's behind our hotel this year. We decided to stop for rib tips before heading to Gus's. They were delicious. So full of flavor! The smoke ring was bright red! After sharing some chicken at Gus's we knew we wanted more bbq, so decided to stop by on our way back to our hotel. When we walked in, Sharon greeted us. She was surprised to see us back in the same evening. We got more ribs tips, the beef brisket sandwich, big boy hamburger, and the catfish sandwich - Sharon style (with pickled jalapeños and hot sauce). Their fries were fantastic, get them seasoned. All food was made fresh and tasted delicious! But most of all, our two children left saying they felt like they just spent time with family. Sharon had the owner Mike come out and speak with us. They were both so down to earth and treated us so friendly. I left with a full stomach and a full spirit. If you're in the area, you've got to stop in!!
