We were so impressed, our "To Go" coffee order became a sit down sampling of Scotch eggs, sausage rolls and a vegetarian pastry! All delicious, and the cappuccinos were perfect too! What a find! The owner was so pleasant and friendly. Eclectic and fun places like Amandines aren't easy to find, and I am so glad we came across it. There are lots of items and local goodies for purchase. Will certainly go back on our next trip and definitely recommend to any one going to or from Bar Harbor! Great job Amandines - well done! Cheers-

Reasonably priced, small breakfast menu. Not a ton to offer in terms of pastries, but everything looked great. A freezer stocked with homemade dinner pies; Adorable Maine-centric gifts and art; An interesting collection of wines for sale... I believe it was the proprietor, who was the sole person behind the counter when we went. He was very friendly. Temper your expectations, because it is not a big French bakery, or an artisan bread or full diner breakfast kind of place. But it is quirky, satisfying, and does what it does really well.

First of all: potato waffles. POTATO WAFFLES. Who knew such a glorious thing existed? I had one loaded with sausage, egg, and cheese and it was honestly a spiritual experience disguised as breakfast. Crispy, savory, cozy... basically the edible equivalent of being wrapped in a warm blanket while a woodland folk band plays softly in the distance. The coffee was heavenly, the kind that makes you reconsider every sad gas station coffee decision you've ever made. The atmosphere was incredibly cozy and homey, like visiting the kitchen of someone who genuinely wants you to leave happier than you arrived. The staff was so friendly and attentive without ever feeling overbearing, and meeting the owner was the cherry on top. You can immediately tell how much heart he puts into the place and how deeply he loves what he does. If you're anywhere near Dover-Foxcroft and you don't stop here, you are depriving yourself of waffle-based happiness. I'm already planning my next visit.

The staff were absolutely wonderful, everything about their presence just made the experience multiple times better. Then you notice the scent like nothing else, it smelled like the waffles were getting cooked in your own kitchen. The food was delicious, the chicken was cooked to perfection, and somehow the waffle was even better. This was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be back with as many times as possible.

At first the place looked great - except for the lump of plants in a disarray -I'd remove them --…read moreand food seemed fine - some stuff. Wait staff flying thru and bringing dishes minutes after forcing parties to wait to eat. Winter time - icy parking lot - HUGE big truck at doorway - No handicapped was available. Decided to try again - again food straggles out - the prices went up as well - the salad they give for a $25 plate of food is served in a child kitchen dishes set - am I wrong?--- (also went up a $30) Smart TV playing all the magnificent journey the owner went on. Here is a poor town with many people desperately trying to make ends meet. 1. Most can't afford this prices- $30 -requires a real full dish salad - 2. Most people want to be able to enjoy all eateries, fairs, parades, festivals, ice cream stands, food stands instead of running to local bodega for a piece of beef jersey and a beer. 3. The ready made food is ok sometimes but I'd love to have a porterhouse and king crab legs too - and choose to order -- not just what is made for the day. We tried the burrito- they add potatoes- no one ever adds potatoes- and they won't take the out. White potato is inflammatory- can't eat it. Was hoping breakfast items had more Gluten free variety & dairy alternatives: goat milk - lots of goat farms around - all sell goat milk in supermarkets- I checked I think this area suffers enough and everyone should experience a meal in any eatery in Dover Foxcroft- You all represent businesses in the area and the communities people pay your bill(s). I'd love to see more accommodating prices - open every day so ALL MAINERS can find a seat at your establishment. MAke affordable meals as well as your expensive ones ---People should choose. DId you say cake? can you cut a real normal piece? this is not NYC- only place ever served so ski skimpy like yours ---was at Tavern on The Green--NYC Other things distracting- owners sitting with "special or favorite" Again- small town - Owners-Chef should greet and hear compliments from all patrons. All patrons should be able to give constructive criticism on what they are served. I can critique as we had a very successful restaurant and a grocery store. Being part of community- store owners have an obligation to uphold certain business ethics as they enrich the community and the community looks at you and how you handle your staff and your store. We hope to see and hear changes so all people who expressed the issues at your store can walk in and have dinner without breaking the bank or robbing money from Little Lucia's piggy bank. GOD BLESS Be the Example

Being winter, we ate inside this time! As always, and as mentioned in the first review, I had to find something different to try, as I cook a lot of breakfasts for myself at home. I settled on the corned beef hash, made in house, with the home fries, eggs and toast. The hash was excellent, as were the home fries and rye toast. The eggs were scrambled well enough, I suppose, but they seemed bland. Maybe I should have asked for a little salsa! The coffee was just okay considering they were advertising the Carrabassett brand they used. My wife ordered the avocado scramble, which also came with eggs and home fries, and she added bacon on the side. Unlike ravenous me, she had to take her eggs home. I can't forget to mention the server (Maggie?) who was friendly, chatty and took great care of us. I recommend Vittles even for breakfast, but I will repeat what I said in the other review: I want to get back there for lunch or dinner!
