If I could rate zero stars I would. Showed up Sunday early afternoon. Went to the bar and bartender just looked at us and kept chatting up another group. Took a look at the menu and went to find a place to sit, continued to watch workers wonder by helping other tables while ignoring us. Around the Corner is not quite a 'hole-in-the-wall', but it is a very inconspicuous place. The building itself looks just like another house in the middle of EaDo; it is a very cute building, painted a pale blue with the name of the restaurant written on the front There is parking in front of the building, as well as across the street in the unpaved area. I thought that I would share this information with you first so you'll know what the place look like; as I said before, super inconspicuous! When you walk in, you realise that it is a pretty small place, given that is a house transformed into a bar/restaurant. But they have a GREAT outdoor patio with plenty of space for everyone. It is a great place for groups to do brunch. The first thing that you will see, as soon as you enter, is the bar. From there, seats are open and there are a few indoor tables. Now, onto the fun stuff, the food and drinks! The menu is very light, consisting of mostly small items. But don't let the limited menu fool you! The kitchen here works their magic and makes delicious food I have only come here for brunch on Sundays so I can only vouch for their brunch menu; their main kitchen menu it small as well, and consist of mostly bar foods and bites, as well as pizzas. (UPDATE: I just looked at their menu online and it seems like they changed a few things on their menu, as well as made some new additions. There was a DELICIOUS french toast dish that is no longer on there but their new menu is one that I would go back and try)! Aside from their actual menu, they also have pastries for sale at the bar, ranging from muffins to croissants and other typical breakfast bites. Drinks... they are VERY reasonably priced here; a carafe of mimosas to share with your friends is about $15! They are also very tasty; it was here that I fell in love with Bloody Mary's. I had never been a fan until I came here (though now, I'll take a nice Bloody Mary any day)! But I will say, the only reason why they are getting 4-stars instead of 5-stars is the fact that they have ran out of mimosas AND Bloody Mary each time I have went there for brunch with my friends. It is a big bummer to hear that there is NO MORE BOOZE.... All in all, Around the Corner is best, in my opinion, for brunch and get-togethers with friends and/or family. It is an adorable place filled with good food, and good drinks, made for going with good company. My two cents would be to get there early (if you want a seat inside AND get your drinks). If you show up a little late, you might not even get drinks (and sometimes they run out of certain menu items). Given that it is a smaller, local business, I cannot be too hard on them, but what I foresee for 'Around the Corner' is going nowhere but up! Gotta keep up with the demands, especially with EaDo flourishing more and more as time passes. read more

Such an underrated place. How are people not constantly here? The only thing keeping me from being here daily is the fact that I live a bit too far away. Still though, making the trip is worth it. The vibe is right with two badass outdoor areas, a great inside, coupled with a solid drink menu and great service. I haven't had any food here, but it looks fantastic. Like I said, geography is the only thing keeping me from being here on a regular basis. The Eastside keeps getting better, and one day it may be overrun with yuppies, but for now, it's on its golden age - in no small part to places like this. read more

Terrible service. Sat at the bar area and watched the bar staff giggled and played on their phone. The only two guys working were the bar backs. It wasn't even crowded. As a food service industry establishment, better training on customer service is needed. I should not have to go to ask for a drink... this is done at a crowded bar. read more

Luv dis place. If you've been to Down the Street, it's a very similar vibe but this place has more cocktails. They have an excellent outdoor patio and the inside is really cute too. I've been here twice now - once they had bingo with a BBQ truck there (I believe they do this once a month). I have yet to try the cocktails, but they have a decent draft beer selection and their shot glasses are the cutest thing ever. I tried one of their pizzas which I thought was just okay - Down the Street has a better selection in my opinion. Overall a cute little spot in EaDo with a casual, laid back vibe. Parking: limited, so would recommend street parking or ubering. read more

Went here for bingo night with my friend a couple wednesdays. We had a lot of fun playing bingo for a couple hours and the host was very entertaining! We got there a little early and so got some cocktails. My friend was not quite satisfied with her drink and asked the bartender if it was the one she ordered just to make sure and he was pretty rude to her. After like about 15 minutes he offered her a replacement one, but it was made with a different alcohol. I mean, if I was the bartender I would have at least made sure I offered a replacement drink made out of the same alcohol as there was a reason the customer chose that for her first drink! The food options looked pretty meh as well and so we didn't get anything! Bingo was fun, but if you want food/drink look beyond the corner! read more

I'm obsessed with this place. We stopped in for a couple drinks last night and had such a great time! The drinks are simple and delicious. The artichoke dip was greasy but good. They also have an espresso machine (only $3 for a shot) and $6 spiked hot coco!! The atmosphere is cozy and gorgeous. We thought it would be a quiet place but it was the perfect size crowd for it to be enjoyable (live but not wild). There's a jukebox and people we're playing good music. My girl took me there for a Thursday steak night and honestly based on the reviews I didn't expect too much. Service: Friendly, but most ordering and paying you do at the bar. Ambiance: it's a cute little place, pretty busy on Thursdays but fun for a quick and cheap date night. Food: we both got that 14oz Ribeye with scallion mashed potatoes and side salad. Definitely order the steak medium rare. Anything beyond that will be chewy and tough as a brick. You pay $17 for the whole plate so don't expect much, the scallion mash was pretty good, salad was ok and the steak was okay. Nothing special but for the price, I would say worth it. I come here almost every weekend for brunch for the great happy hour specials on food and drinks (I always get the mimosa's). I have never had a horrible experience and everyone is so friendly. The vibe is cute and homey with a great view on the patio. It's the place to go for a "sunday funday" because you could start off here and it's within walking distance to 8th wonder so you could carry on the day over there too! Came here on a Monday night and was really impressed by the view from the back porch. You can see downtown and some of the murals from the east downtown graffiti building. I was expecting this place to look like a dive bar but it was really well put together. We order a charcuterie plate with our drinks and it was exactly what we were hoping for. We got there around 2pm and there was a decent crowd. Not too packed, not dead...just right. I scoped the place out and opted to sit outside on the patio since it was a nice day and the music was grooving. We ordered $3 mimosas and seated ourselves towards the back. They do have a brunch menu, but I had already eaten. I honestly could've sat on the patio vibing to the music and admiring the view of Downtown all evening, but I had other plans. First off, it's pretty much a hidden gem in Eado. There are some bars on the same street, but nothing busy. Parking is relatively open seeing that there isn't too much in the area. The idea is you go to the bar and order....then sit (you should probably know that before going). The bartenders were GREAT! There isn't much space, but they do have some outdoor seating which worked fine for us. The inside was cutely decorated and dimly lit to make a great date night spot.
