I was looking for a shredding service in the Bay Area, going back and forth between two companies…read moreand I finally settled on this one. I had all my questioned answered in a timely manner and they were patient as I was trying to schedule this around my dad's availability (we're on opposite sides of CA). Shred City ultimately had a better rate for what I wanted to get done so it was a no brainer. They sent me an email to confirm the service and were able to schedule us within a few days, which was even better. My dad is closing his business of 50 years and needed to shred the contents of 26 bankers boxes. The service was completed on 2/18. The driver showed up at my dad's store, shred the contents, left the empty boxes and that was it, a super smooth process! Then I was able to call, make the secure payment over the phone and I promptly received a receipt and Certificate of Destruction. It cost $208 to shred 26 bankers boxes which I thought was fair, especially since it was a mobile service where they came to us. We have more boxes to shred at my parent's house so when my dad is ready I will contact Shred City again to handle that service as well! Great job!

The process was fast and totally painless. The guys in charge of the shredding process( wish I could remember their names) were right on time and super professional. I highly recommend them and would use them again.

We recently moved, and had boxes of mail to shred so we scheduled a pickup with Bay Shred. They…read moretold us: "We'll call you thirty minutes before we come over". Then a few days before, we got a worse-than-the-cable guy window of 10:30am - 4pm. We have already moved out of the old place, so this was important -- both my wife & I work, so we couldn't just hang out at an old place with no internet. Two hours passed, and I thought, "What's the most likely failure mode? Calling my wife's phone or forgetting to call?". So I called them and was told "Oh they'll be there in an hour." An hour passed. No call. So I called again, "They're on their way!". Finally it was 3pm, so I drove half an hour back to our old place, on the theory they would have to be there by 4pm... right? No calls on the way to our place, so I called them once I got there. "Let me see if we can find the driver!". Then came the admission that the driver had actually dropped by our place around 1pm, but had simply forgotten to call either of us [!]. I don't rightly know how you can forget this since it was part of the engagement and I called about it repeatedly throughout the day... Anyway, after another 30 minutes of waiting at the empty house in which dispatch told me she would work it out with the operations center. When she finally got back in touch with me, she told me that well, the business closes at 5pm, and well, would I be available the next Tuesday? This was Thursday. Anyway, she promised the driver would be disciplined. I don't really care about that -- maybe this one driver is a screwup, but if your business processes can end up with someone having a _five day_ delay, they don't seem very robust. In fact, they're so bad it made me skeptical of whether I would trust them with shredding personal documents. Anyway, I'd spent so much time at our old house it was rush hour so it took an hour getting home (normal travel time: 20 minutes). My wife & I cancelled the order and we're just carrying the boxes ourselves to another vendor. Maybe they dont make house calls that often? Their website makes it seem like they do, and if so, I just don't think anybody should give this company their business. Honestly, I feel like they owe *me* some money for wasting so much of my time.

If I could give zero stars I would. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. My company…read morewas going through a massive purge of old files and needed a shredding company. Because we had used them previously (for a small job) and we had an account, I called them to order shredding bins. When you call, the sales rep will send you an agreement, you sign and then crickets. You will never hear from them again despite numerous emails and calls. You will not know when they are coming to drop off the bins until you are surprised one day by an Enterprise truck (did they have to rent a truck?) wanting to drop off bins. Okay fine, we fill up the bins and call for a pick up. No answer then finally weeks later they show up but can only pick up 8 out of the 10 bins. Now we have 2 bins sitting around and who knows how long it will be until they are picked up. The local driver/dispatcher is not answering calls or emails. But the cherry on top with this company is they sent us to collections. Yes, a collection company. We have NOT received one invoice from this company. Not one! Despite asking for an invoice. No one has ever called about payment. I was the one to take initiative and asked for an invoice with absolutely no response. I am shocked that this company is still in business with the way they run things. And based on the bad reviews, I am not the only one that think they are horrible. I beg anyone that is thinking about using them to reconsider. Save yourself the trauma of having to deal with this company.

Don't even think about starting a national account or being an existing customer with one. They have a new Customer Portal which is useless. Their Customer Service is an atrocity, you will not receive a response after a week if at all. Any forms submitted or questions asked go into a black hole. All calls are routed to one central number and you're subjected to lengthy hold times. Reps will direct you to the new portal for any and everything. If you do use the Customer portal to schedule a pickup the order doesn't get communicated to the local branch so you're waiting for a driver to never who never shows. Truly a frustrating and unacceptable business practices. Avoid!
