The place feels homey. Attentive staff. We ordered chorizo burrito and the red chilaquiles plate. The burrito was made with quality chorizo, textures were good. It didn't need the cheese. Beans were solid. Good portions big enough to share. The red salsa was fresh and delicious. The plate didn't need the avocado on top or hashbrownes on the side. The flavor is the red sauce was good but tortillas got soggy too quickly lacking that crunch that was provided by the purple onions. Will come back for that burrito again! read more

I've been living in Montebello for years, never been here. I decided to give it a try and ordered a bacon avocado cheese burger. It was very tasty! It had lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onions. It was big, that's what she said lol. Also had a good amount of bacon & avocado. Cost about $10. Not sure how much bacon avocado costs nowadays. If I could give ZERO STARS I would. The food is mediocre and expensive. When we opened the food at home the onion rings were extremely burnt they literally looked moldy when we first opened it. We were shocked. Called the place and Sabrina the manager was so RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. Said I always call and complain when the last time I ate there was literally in like March. She's was like "I know exactly who u are don't come back here anymore". Shocked is an understatement. The rest of the food was ok definitely not worth what they charge. She was literally yelling and cursing and saying to never come back. I was polite when I called and she had given me her number and then someone told her something and suddenly she asked if I was the one who asked for extra ketchup (they gave me three btw I ordered 3 burgers onion rings and chili cheese fries so YES I asked for more lmao). It's insane that she's the manager. She's gotta be the daughter of the owner or something bc no way she's qualified to run anything. STAY AWAY FROM JOHNS. If they make a mistake they'll lie and say you're lying. (This is my first review I've ever written that's how bad it was) Update: John's ppl are doubling down on me being the person they're assuming calls often (it's not me). I'm sure there are ppl who call all the time tho bc according to the reviews it's either super good or super bad, there's no good consistency. Check 1 star reviews for this place and you'll see other examples of ppl having something wrong with their food and SABRINA not believing them. Sounded luke she couldn't be bothered taking our order. A friend recommended this place to me. Not sure if I'd go back. The customer service needs to be worked on. Got a Breakfast Burrito at this place and the tortilla was super hard and stale on some of the ends of it. Sausage had little hard pieces of fat or something in it. Couldn't get past those 2 things, or the food might have been ok. Worst part of this place is the service though. I've been here a few times and have tried other items and tried to give them a shot, since reviews seemed to be good. Every single time I've ordered with either one of those lady's, I've just got bad attitude in return... the men aren't any better, but these lady's are super rude! I asked the rude heavy set lady at the counter for a bag, after asking for some condiments, she ignored me and walked away! A lady walks up asking for something from an order, and I just asked her if they actually had plastic bags, so that I'm not just waiting for nothing. She was literally standing next to me, shoulder to shoulder. She completely ignored me ‍ I made a comment to her about how rude she was and her response was, "I'm working!" Really?? I'm amazed by John's after many years of not coming at it's still so good! This is by far out of a couple burger joints that haven't lost its touch. It has good quality, taste and freshness. I tried the double cheeseburger and it was one of best tasting I've had. I also ordered the chili cheese fries and it was amazing. The green chilaquiles are also a must. they're delicious. I'd rate the patty a medium for savoriness. The burger comes with a few other things, notably cheese and raw onions. Typically I feel like when you order breakfast food from places they just throw it all together. They literally separated the proteins and hashbrowns from the pancakes and French toast. The actual toast was also separated from everything. It just made sure that everything was as fresh as possible, and it was definitely fresh and tasty! We also ordered the iced mocha coffees, if you're really looking for a true coffee flavor don't order this, we loved it! it was such a nice soft mocha flavor, very creamy and tasty. Best burger place ever. I grew up eating here and there's never been anything I wasn't satisfied with. Their burgers are delicious, their fries are the best and their chili cheese fries are amazing. Service is great here. They're always welcoming and treat you like family. Ambiance is great and has that old school feeling to it. After moving out of town, I haven't had a burger like these since. I've actually never used the restroom there so I can't comment on that however the staff is always especially nice and they've never gotten our order wrong.
