Initially I left a great review but after our last service my parents and myself were very much mislead and deceived. They came out to service and I wasn't around till the end ! My parents are 91 and 95 . When I met the service rep he had a list of things that needed done. He stated our A/C unit was hit by lightning. It was working perfectly when he showed up . He also showed me where there was mold . Reason there was mold is because they never installed black lights as promised in the beginning of initial install . Now the whole A/C unit was a bit over 10k. In the end after it was our last service call for free , Number 4 of 4 ! He came in and presented us with a bill for over 4000 dollars. We called this company for same-day service after our guests reported that the air conditioning had stopped working during very hot weather in Spring Hill, Florida. The technician told us that the evaporator coil had failed (which is under warranty), pointed out several other alleged issues with the system, and quoted approximately $4,000 in repairs for labor. We were also told that the unit was frozen solid and that multiple components were not functioning properly. During the conversation, we felt pressured to make a quick decision. Fortunately, we decided to have another HVAC company inspect the system before proceeding. The second company thoroughly checked the unit, including refrigerant pressures and overall operation, and found that the system itself was functioning properly. They determined that the freeze-up was caused by a clogged air filter restricting airflow. After the unit was properly defrosted and the airflow issue was corrected, the AC returned to normal operation. Based on our experience, the diagnosis and repair recommendation from the first company were completely inconsistent with what was actually wrong. ARS Rescue Rooter was referred to me by my local Home Depot for a $19.99 AC inspection. From the start, the visit felt more like a sales call than a service inspection. I was told my unit "probably wouldn't make it through the summer" and that it would cost more to repair than replace. I was immediately pushed toward a full replacement instead of real troubleshooting. They quoted $17,000 to install a 5-ton unit. When I declined and mentioned that I expected a price closer to $10,000, I was suddenly offered a "huge discount" to match that price--but only if I agreed to install it the very next day. That alone raised red flags. After installation, several issues followed. The crew left a mess and damaged a fairly new access door (less than a year old). While they did eventually send a contractor to repair it, it shouldn't have happened in the first place. More concerning were the technical issues. I had ongoing problems with a clogged drain line, and after three separate visits, no real solution was provided. Instead, I was repeatedly pushed to buy a $1,600 water condenser and a service plan. I later learned that the line simply needed to be properly vacuumed out--something that should have been basic knowledge. I also experienced recurring power loss to the unit. For nearly a year, the issue was blamed on the thermostat. Eventually, it was discovered that the breaker in front of the air handler was never properly installed and was missing screws from day one. At this point, I honestly can't tell if this comes down to poor training or a company culture focused on repeat visits and upselling. We were told a technician would arrive between 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. It's now almost 10:00, the apartment is 90 degrees inside, and nobody showed up. Nobody called. Nobody bothered to update us. At this point, I have completely lost confidence in this company and their installation. A brand-new system should not have this many issues from day one. The technician diagnosed the issue as a faulty blower motor and initially quoted me over $1,500 for the repair, stating it could be completed the same day. After doing my own research, I discovered that my unit was still under warranty. When I informed the technician, the pricing explanation became inconsistent. I was told the "full price" was actually $2,595, with only about $1,000 deducted for the warranty--leaving me still responsible for roughly $1,500. I was also told I needed an additional capacitor costing over $300, and that I could receive a 15% discount if I signed up for an annual membership. The total quoted cost came to approximately $1,700. This raised serious concerns, so I contacted my warranty company directly. They confirmed that the part should be covered and were unclear about the additional fees being presented. They advised me to seek other quotes. I then contacted three separate HVAC companies, all of which quoted me under $450 total--and confirmed that the part was included under warranty, with the cost being primarily labor. The tech came in and tried selling me on 6+ items then tried pressuring me into doing a payment plan and becoming a member. I politely told him I don't have good enough credit for a payment plan, he ran the soft credit check anyway ensuring I'd be good. My credit was inevitably denied, so then his sales pitch turned to asking me who in my life can I ask to cosign for me. This company is a joke and brings salesmen to your home... not AC techs. This is such a dishonest company. I wish i had known before i paid the fee for them to come "investigate" (or whatever) the problem. A guy came, so clean, from another call. He took about five minutes. He did not even use a ladder even though my unit is on the second floor outside. He supposedly looked at my unit and determined the problem was too far gone for repair but emphatically recommended a replacement. He quoted me a cost to replace coolant that was 5000 (more actually but i can't remember exactly) ... and told me that i needed to replace the unit. He emphasized that they would finance the new unit. He stood OVER me and insisted I pay for the service call and then immediately put me on the phone with a "comfort" associate or something. I had to say no. i was clear and direct that i could not replace the unit so they made repair so expensive I could not do it. The whole thing was like being bullied. The guy intimidated me on purpose. I am old, live alone and didn't have any option so i PAID the extortion fee. And then went without air for ten days. The OTHER company I called just left. They replaced my coolant for $250 and the air is perfect. This is a scam, a ripoff, a dishonest company. DON'T use them. They are just rip off artists. This is long, but worth the read-especially if you're about to call ARS. ARS installed our Carrier mini split system just four years ago. Since then, it's been nothing but scare tactics, inflated quotes, and constant misdiagnoses. Every few months, the system would throw errors. First it was the control board, then the compressor, then they told us we'd be better off replacing the entire system they installed new 4 years ago. One time they said it was a burned-up wire and quoted a full replacement... then the system magically worked two days later for 5 more months. Guess the wire healed itself? Finally fed up, we called a licensed third-party HVAC company. They replaced both control boards (OEM), which fixed the communication issue, and confirmed the compressor was bad -- and under warranty. We told them company we just want to have ARS come out and get a price and see whats what.They got the compressor diagnosis right... but then tried to charge us for a brand-new inverter board that had been replaced HOURS earlier. Their quote was $2,289, "discounted" to $1,831.We ended up paying the other company $1,700 TOTAL -- boards, compressor, labor, and actual honesty. I wouldn't even be surprised if ARS sold us junk parts to begin with. That much failure in 4 years? Not normal. This isn't just bad service. It's price padding and pressure sales pretending to be repair work. Our AC is now working perfectly. We hired them other company and they came back out and installed the compressor. A little bit of a rough start to our relationship when I signed up for the $300 per year subscription which includes a $25 per month fee a twice a year air conditioning tuneup for winter and summer and a discount on air conditioning repair if necessary. They canceled on me last minute but they were able to reschedule fairly quickly. The technician came out and examined my air conditioner. Not sure exactly what he did but told me everything was fine and proceeded to sell me to UV lightbulbs at a cost of $700. Hoping that this is worth it to keep my air conditioner, bacteria, free. The lightbulbs are supposed to last two years. I have heard others replacing lightbulbs from other sources that may be less expensive. read more

Sold me an ac 3.5 ton 16 seer Carrier within 1-year compressor went out they did admit it was the installation fault. Within 6 months of that the fan motor went out said it was under warranty but it would be $750 for labor to install asked for a supervisor to call me, mind you it was May in Florida 90 degrees called everyday for a week, and no one ever called me back. Finally spoke with someone they told me it was my fault for not doing maintenance they had just been out the week before to service the unit that is less than a year and a half old. I ended up with a reputable gentleman that did it for half of that. Please stay as far away as you can from these people, nothing but trouble. Tristan performed a very detailed inspection and cleaning that included hosing down the heat pump unit, suctioning the drain line, testing various features, and inspecting all parts of the system. He was very knowledgeable, polite, and friendly. He explained what he was doing as he progressed through the tune-up, showing me photos and instrument readings as he performed the work. Poor service after the sale, will not honor warranty of units they install. Brand new Carrier unit installed in 2021. On 01/25 the unit went down. We paid the $109 trip charge and were told it was a faulty fan motor. Easy. We say lets get it fixed and the tech gives us a bill for over $2000. When we ask for a breakdown, and explanation the tech got irate. We stated that we have a parts warranty until 2030 and asked how is it possibly that much to replace? How many hours does it take? He stated 1 - 1.5 hours. But his travel time and shipping costs were the added costs/ money. We felt this wasnt right so we asked for a breakdown. He refused and left. Two years ago we went through Home Depot and hired ARS to replace our AC system and duct work at a cost of $17k. At the time of signing the paperwork, the representative told us that we were to also receive a UV light. Now, 2 years later, ARS comes out to do a $69 inspection of our AC and we are told that there is mold in our duct work and we need to spend $1k to add a UV light. They quickly agreed to reduce the cost to $750. I am amazed that what we were told at the time of purchase, and what we thought we were buying, does not match what we actually received. ARS's Quality Assurance Manager doesn't answer her phone nor return calls. As a matter of fact no one at ARS returns calls. The Installation Manager agreed to a $675 credit. Never came. I called last week to set up a date gor them to come take the split mini back for a full refund. I'll buy one at a heating place that was recommended to me by our electrician since neither Home Depot nor ARS could care less. This has been going on since the first week in September. They never called back to schedule or try to save. They should listen to the recorded phone calls. read more

Home Depot needs to remove them from accessing Home Depot customers: 1) Their price was about $5,000 more than other estimates for a new A/C unit and 2) The salesman who came to my home to assess was to0 pushy of a sales person. Now, after 4 months, my new systems are breaking down. Incredibly useless customer service. They say they will send a tech out during a 4-hour window, and they have yet to show. You call them back, and they say they will have "dispatch" contact us. They never do. Finally, when they do send out a technician, he needs to learn how to check the voltage. He then told me that he had to order a motherboard for the outdoor unit, which wouldn't happen for a few days. Now, the 2nd system is broken down. My 3 year old hvac quit working last week. My Google thermostat notified me that there was an issue and recommended service. I book the service through Google and ARS was sent to perform a system check. The tech showed up on time and went about troubleshooting the issue. He reported that I should replace the capacitor (it was reading just below tolerance). He also stated that I was low on Freon and likely had a leak. To replace the capacitor (part is covered under warranty), he quoted me $450 for labor. He also quoted me the cost for Freon to refill the system would be $80 per pound and my system needed 8 lbs. He stated that I likely had a leak and I would need to add more on a frequent basis. I declined the additional service due to my suspicions about what he was telling me. I wanted a second opinion. This morning I had the service that installed my system and had them come out to take a look. They replaced the capacitor and only charged be the trip fee of $95. The capacitor was under warranty (parts only) and the tech said it was an easy repair so no additional charge for labor. I can never recommend ARS for any repair based on what I experienced. read more
