Repaired a very elderly Cartier picture frame whose easel had become detached. Don't know how they did it, but the velvet covering was matched perfectly, with no signs of repair. Their work was absolutely impeccable. Downtown Neiman Marcus, the original source of the frame decades ago, accepted it for repair, promised it would be returned, not quickly, but beautifully remade, and it was. Apparently Downtown Neiman's fourth floor galleries routinely rely on Art Restorations. I consider that a very good sign. read more

What an incredible hidden secret Art Restoration is! I "had to have" a painted concrete duck and ordered one on Etsy. When it arrived, its beak was broken off and in multiple pieces. I was really disappointed and could not imagine it being reparable because it was a solid heavy piece of broken concrete but I took it to Art Restoration. For $150, the put the duck back together. You cannot tell that it was ever broken. My family looked at it and said it could not possibly be the same broken duck I took in. Their craftsmanship is amazing. I rarely write reviews but these people deserve high praise. I would have given them ten stars on a scale of five stars if that had been possible. read more

I have been a customer of Art Restoration for several years spending many hard earned dollars on repairs. Then one of my wine glasses was broken on the stem. I paid $150 to have it repaired by Art Restoration. It was a set of 8 glasses that are unique in that they are a commenrative set that are out of production, so I was careful not to use it unless really having to knowing that it was more fragile than the others. Moving glasses around on the shelf I moved the repaired glass & it broke off where repaired. I was sure that since it had not been 6 months since the repair that Art Restoration would repair it again, honoring their work at no charge.. It was a break on the stem, no extra special repair or labor down time would require Art Restoration to honor my patronage. Nope, another $150 to repair again. This information was relayed to me by a receptionist who took it to the back & came back with a no. She could not have been more than early early twenties, certainly not part of the repair department or owner. That, to me is lousy, public relations, & I announced to her this would be my last trip to their establishment. They must be able to rip off all their Highland Park customers & feel the loss of my business means nothing to them. Sad, in these times, when small individually owned shops are complaining about internet & larger monied companies running their home owned places out of business. Well, with no one on one relationship between their customers, why not send my items to larger internet companies that repair exactly what Art Restoration does, less expensively, I might add, & absorb shipping costs. Or find another local similar business, & I have been told there are better shops that out perform Art Restoration here in Dallas at a lesser price & the customer works with the back personnel & not a summer intern with no communicative skills., nor ability to interact with executive decision making ability as they only greet customers & answer the phone.I can only hope that their pitiful need of $150 can be absorbed by ripping off another unsuspecting victim! read more

When my son was a baby I had ceramic impressions made of his hand-prints. 9 years later that same son was throwing a baseball in the house and knocked the hand-print off the shelf and a finger broke off of it. I was crushed! His hands would never be that same size again! He had broken something irreplaceable. I took the piece to Art Restorations in hopes they could repair it. The friendly girl at the front could sense my desperation. I took all the broken pieces and asked if they could somehow mold it back together. She looked it over and said: "I think we can make this look good again".When I picked up the order I was in AWE! It was as good as new! You could not even tell it had ever been broken. I do not know how they fixed it, but they did. Now I make sure my son does not throw any balls in the house. :) read more

I brought a 19th century lamp for re-wiring and specifically asked for gold wire to match the color of the lamp. However, apparently, the conservator there never read the instruction and instead put in an ugly brown cord. Although I was offered for a replacement, I declined, because that requires taking out the soldering out and re-solder the plate cover again. I would not recommend their service. read more

I took a piece of a light for a ceiling in for a friend. He only needed to unscrew something that he couldn't do himself. The owner was very friendly and said, "we will see if we can get it unscrewed." I asked how much it would cost, she said, "we probably won't charge since it is like opening a honey pot to a bear." I never received a call, but when I called about it, she said they had opened it. But when I go pick it up, she wants to charge $35. But I had brought the rest of the fixture to have them rethread the rod and put it together. The electrician there said it would be $86 total.( Including the $35) So I left both pieces, since both would be needed to put it back together. I called and asked if they would text me when it was ready, and the owner said they only have land lines. She got very defensive about something as simple as a text. She said they always call. I told her that I never received a call when they got the thing unscrewed the first time. That was when I told her that $35 was a lot to charge when originally it was going to be no charge. She got defensive and said that that is the minimum charge, something she never mentioned when I first left to piece to unscrew. She was rude. When I got a call, not a text that it was ready, I told my friend. When he went to go pick it up, they had rethreaded it, but didn't put it together. He asked the owner about it and she said, "if we put it back together, we would charge over $400." My friend is not one to argue, so he took the two pieces and will have to figure out how to put it together himself. He paid $86, and didn't even get what was supposed to be done. The owner is rude and defensive, we will not be back. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

I took an antique Japanese vase in that was broken into three pieces. Since it was expensive, I wanted it repaired so you could not tell it had been broken even though I knew the value would no longer hold as appraisers would know the repair had been made. I was told it would cost $185 and I would not see any cracks. I had my mother, who worked for Tiffany & Co. for 25 years pick it up for me. All Art Restoration had done for $200 was glue it back together which I could've done for a $5 bottle of Gorilla Glue! They tried to tell me that my mother might have not seen it correctly and it was "subjective". Having worked at Tiffany for so many years, she had seen a great deal of porcelain and knew very well it had only been glued bak together. My mother had also taken an antique lamp in for a minor chip repair abnd when it was finished the cost quoted had gone up over $200. This is a common practice at Art Restoration. They now have refused to repair it according to the original agreement and have also taken it apart from the piss poor glue job they did. The vase will be picked up and I will be filing a lawsuit in small claims court for breach of contract. Because it is small claims court, they will not be entitled to attorney fees should I lose. I would not use this company to repair anything as their business practices are a scam. read more

I took a vintage estate sale find to Art Restorations. They were informative, reasonably priced, and fast. I can't get over how much better my small statue looks! They cleaned and polished it to perfection! I could not be more pleased. read more
