Two years later we have an amazing tank stocked full of kuhli loaches and a cute betta fish. Steve has the best recommendations about plants, tank care, and he's a lot of fun to talk to about life/the world. I'm not joking, this shop is truly one of a kind and very special. Don't hesitate to visit! Great prices, always the real deal, so so so much better than Amazon, Petco or even Chewy. Easy parking and cool area in general!

We came in looking for a betta fish for our daughter and asked what tank mates could live with it. He gave us a few options, but once he found out our setup was only a 3-gallon tank, he immediately changed his recommendation and suggested either one of two smaller options or simply letting the betta be the king of its castle. I also asked about getting a nerite snail, and instead of selling me one on the spot, he told me to come back in a few weeks because a new tank wouldn't have enough algae or biofilm for it to eat yet. That kind of honesty is rare. It's clear he genuinely cares about the fish and wants his customers to be successful, not just make a sale. Definitely recommend supporting this shop!

The best part is he is a knowledgeable employee and fish keepers will appreciate he will gently remind or tell you if your tank might not be the appropriate size for what you have in mind. Some employees especially at the big box stores might give you the wrong information (not always on purpose) but Juan double checks info online to make sure. Legit. I've seen him interact with lots of customers and he's always polite and professional. He is really sweet to elderly clients, it's so nice to see that. Lots of fish stores sell fish and don't sweat what conditions they may encounter in their new home, but Juan actually cares and is great. He does his best to make sure people don't wait too long if he's the only one in the store. I super appreciate his help.

Its shell was also pyramiding, which is a sure sign of malnutrition. They had betta fish in tiny cups (which is an unfortunately common but inhumane way of displaying them) and were advertising minuscule tanks for them. The current standard of care is much higher and bettas need 5 gallon minimum tanks. No living creature should live in a 1 gal water dispenser, which was advertised at a discount in the very front. It was obvious that this shop only cared about profit and not animal welfare and I could not stomach giving this place my money.

They were great and very patient as I walked around the store asking questions. 2 stars instead of 1 because at least after 30 days the fish are still alive, were not sick, etc. NEW FISH OWNERS BEWARE: Do NOT go here if you want any type of advice at all regarding fish. I came in for a single male betta, some aquatic plants, seachem stability and micropellets, and media / filter to get a 5G tank cycling started before actually buying the betta. He instead sold us 3 betta females encouraging us to start a sorority tank inside a 5G, that it didn't need cycling, and that I was going a bit far to buy so many things for "just one fish." Listen, I get you have to upsell and it was easy to tell I was new to the hobby. But I take things seriously, and once I got home and looked everything up -- I discovered the horrendous reality that the 3 female bettas were most likely going to attack each other and die within 7-10 days. Within 24 hours I had to separate them into tiny glass vases because they started chasing each-other relentlessly, bullying the smallest one, and it was extremely stressful. Maybe it's my fault for being talked into it because I had only done research regarding a single betta. This guy pretty much set me up for failure from the get go. Fast forward one month, I now have a 20G tank (recommended 5G per a single fish), it finally finished its FIRST full ammonia/nitrite/nitrate cycle, and I have a community tank of 8 harlequin rasboras, the 3 female bettas that I still have to monitor, a nitrite snail, and plenty of plants. Funny how if he really did give good advice, I would've come back tenfold for the good price and general cleanliness. But nope! I'm new to the hobby but have already experienced at least three stores other than Bob's that treated me better, had a better understanding of guidance about fish, etc. Extremely appalled by the type of guidance I got here. All about money this guy.

If there is something you want, they can order it for you: I wanted an albino bristlenose plecostomus, and they ordered it special and is arrived within a couple of weeks. Fish are slightly more expensive than the big-box stores, but of much better quality and in much better health. I've been coming here for about 3 years and am a completely satisfied customer. I recommend this store in the highest possible terms for anyone who owns or is interested in owning an aquarium!

I have purchased beetle larva from them at the Reptile Super Show in Pomona. It is definitely a much more unique reptile/exotics shop than the other ones that are in somewhat close vicinity in SoCal. As far as I know, this is the only physical location that specializes in a diverse range of hormone free pacman and chaco horned frogs. There's a wide variety of morphs, colors, and sizes. They are also the ONLY physical shop I know that has such a wide variety of invertebrates. I know some shops have tarantulas and maybe some death feigning beetles, but that's it. Jamjam has those and so much more! There's various beetles as well as their larval counterparts in various stages of development, along with any supplies that you may need to allow them to thrive imported Japanese beetle jellies, their own mix of flake soil, leaf litter, bark, etc. They also have different praying mantises as well (first time I have seen them sold outside of a reptile show), scorpions, and some really neat air breathing land snails that I have never seen before. I love the swirl patterns they have and I'm for sure going to come back for them. They also have have a wide range of affordable isopods too. Much cheaper than what it would be if I were to order an entire starter kit and the actual isopods online. I love the acrylic set up with the substrate, leaf litter, bark, and charcoal pieces in them with my new little orange guys. Additionally, they have feeders available: mice, mealworms, waxworms, tilapia filet, crickets, hornworms, and a lot of different feeder roaches available (discoid, lobster, red runner etc). Aside from the East Bay Vivarium up in NorCal, I haven't seen this level of variety of feeders, which, as an exotics owner, is very exciting! As they're still setting up, the reptiles they seemed to have when I visited were hognose snakes and some, what I think were ball pythons, but I believe that they'll be having some geckos and other reptiles as things move along. And if you also have a furry friend at home, they have bandanas, collars, leashes, and dog accessories as well. Another thing I loved was how informative, friendly, and helpful the owner is. He answered all my questions, gave tips and tricks, and gave really good husbandry advice. As this is somewhat of a niche hobby, I love to see that. They're in the process of getting everything situated, so I'm really excited to see what will be in store (and hopefully what will be in my room) in the future!

I have been coming to Demi Koi for several years now because the overall experience of purchasing new koi for my pond is much better. The koi are authentic, healthy, and they grow very fast with beautiful colors. And it's nice that they educate you on the names of the color varieties and send you photos of your fish so you can compare as they grow.

I took my tortoise to Exotic Animal Veterinary Center because he had stopped eating, hoping to finally understand what was wrong and get a clear treatment plan. Instead, I spent over $1,000 in just two days and left feeling like I had more questions than answers. The doctor was unable to give us the explanations we were asking for, and the diagnostic process felt extremely slow. We waited what felt like forever for results, and ultimately, we still did not have a clear answer about why my tortoise wasn't eating or what was actually wrong with him. What made the experience even more frustrating was that despite spending such a significant amount of money, I felt like the focus was on recommending additional services and costs rather than giving us meaningful answers. I understand that veterinary medicine, especially exotic animal medicine, can be complicated and that not every case has an immediate diagnosis. But when a client spends over $1,000 in two days, they should at least leave with clear communication, a reasonable explanation of the findings, and an understanding of what happens next. Instead, I left frustrated, disappointed, and still searching for answers about my tortoise. Very disappointing experience. Based on my experience, I would not return.

We adopted our two other birds from local fosters and non-profits. After texting the number of the organization, I was immediately in touch with Marie, sweetest person-ever! We coordinated a date and time to come by and see the available cockatiels ready for adoption. I brought my partner and daughter along. As we got a review of the birds, Marie's hyacinth macaw Howard came over to greet us. Such a handsome, boy! We landed in adopting out a young male cockatiel (likely to be 1 year old due to the pearls still visible in his feathers) named "Patrick". He'd been saved from the elements, rescued after being dropped from the sky by a crow. Marie helped get him back in tip top shape, provided me the labs for his current health state (healthy!) and his DNA sexed paperwork. I appreciated the level of care and service Marie provided. She was professional, detailed, and super accommodating. I really loved her level of attention to understanding each and every bird's quirks, preferences, and history. Before we left, Marie provided a bit of food, snacks, and helped us pick a few perches and toys that "Patrick" would be happy with from his current cage. I was very grateful to be able to donate towards the foundation through Venmo. They also do cash or check, or Zelle. The feel the contribution/donation fee is minuscule compared to the value you give back to new member(s) of your flock. I understand only time will heal him from the trauma of his ordeal. We hope the love, care, and patience, our family can provide him with the right environment to help him heal at his own pace. If you're ever looking to adopt a bird in need, look no further than Fine Feathered Friends. Marie is wonderful and so dedicated, and it shows!

We arrived at 6pm when the event was supposed to start and person out front said they were still setting up and would be starting soon. They let us in the main area where the cats were a few minutes later but apparently they meant they were BARELY starting to set up. We had to awkwardly maneuver and wait around while they were getting tables and chairs set up and then we didn't get started til 645 which is pretty bad when your event is advertised as starting at 6. It was nice to walk around to see and pet the cats but that was not the primary point of the visit. What made this a pretty poor experience was the instructor and lack of organization. I've been to other paint events and you usually know what the inspo is ahead of time and the paint palette is provided with all the colors and right amounts you would need. They passed around the inspo pic and we had to wait while it was going around the room to take a picture and then we had to go up front to pick our own colors. The brushes were so overused and limp, floppy, and just in bad shape. The instructor said maybe 3 sentences to say she was going to outline the cat but there was no guidance whatsoever around how to shade, how to outline, how to do anything. It was not beginner friendly whatsoever and I think most of us were literally just winging it. The instructor also did not walk around the room or offer any assistance, feedback or help. I could tell some others were over painting and just got up to play with the cats. The concept is great but execution kind of failed. I'm sure they're not a trained paint instructor and maybe an employer or volunteer who likes to paint but that doesn't make for a good experience. We expected to have direction and instruction to paint. So essentially we paid $40 to be around cats and maybe $5-$10 worth of materials. Definitely would not recommend this event.

I absolutely love coming here, I definitely plan on coming here more often because of the variety of fish Art has, so far I've gone almost every week to see all the new fish he gets, Ill admit he has a much more exotic and more lively amount of fish compared to other fish stores in the area, just today i came in and bought a coral beauty, an absolutely beautiful fish, he keeps them in good health from the look of it. Two years later we have an amazing tank stocked full of kuhli loaches and a cute betta fish. Steve has the best recommendations about plants, tank care, and he's a lot of fun to talk to about life/the world. I'm not joking, this shop is truly one of a kind and very special. Don't hesitate to visit! Great prices, always the real deal, so so so much better than Amazon, Petco or even Chewy. Easy parking and cool area in general!

Juan is absolutely the best employee, he always takes time to explain what's best for the fish/shrimp I'm researching. Thanks to him I have two small tanks that are thriving. The best part is he is a knowledgeable employee and fish keepers will appreciate he will gently remind or tell you if your tank might not be the appropriate size for what you have in mind. Some employees especially at the big box stores might give you the wrong information (not always on purpose) but Juan double checks info online to make sure. Legit. I've seen him interact with lots of customers and he's always polite and professional. He is really sweet to elderly clients, it's so nice to see that. Lots of fish stores sell fish and don't sweat what conditions they may encounter in their new home, but Juan actually cares and is great. He does his best to make sure people don't wait too long if he's the only one in the store. I super appreciate his help.

Its shell was also pyramiding, which is a sure sign of malnutrition. They had betta fish in tiny cups (which is an unfortunately common but inhumane way of displaying them) and were advertising minuscule tanks for them. The current standard of care is much higher and bettas need 5 gallon minimum tanks. No living creature should live in a 1 gal water dispenser, which was advertised at a discount in the very front. It was obvious that this shop only cared about profit and not animal welfare and I could not stomach giving this place my money.

We came in looking for a betta fish for our daughter and asked what tank mates could live with it. He gave us a few options, but once he found out our setup was only a 3-gallon tank, he immediately changed his recommendation and suggested either one of two smaller options or simply letting the betta be the king of its castle. I also asked about getting a nerite snail, and instead of selling me one on the spot, he told me to come back in a few weeks because a new tank wouldn't have enough algae or biofilm for it to eat yet. That kind of honesty is rare. It's clear he genuinely cares about the fish and wants his customers to be successful, not just make a sale. Definitely recommend supporting this shop!
