    Art is the man! He's in a cool spot in North Pasadena. He sells high quality tropical fish and coral. If you are into reefing you have to hit up Art's spot because the shops always carrying the best clown fish, tangs, butterflies and all the rest of the best reef goodies around.

    This is the anemone I got from him. It's beautiful pure white and periwinkle. Absolutely stunning.

Agustin's shop is clean, whimsically decorated with a really cool fish and turtle pond in front and the reptiles and birds are very well taken care of. Agustin helped me out a couple of years ago when I had to move my Mom out of her home and into an Assisted Living Facility and had to re-home her two large birds. Agustin found a buyer for her Moluccan Cockatoo at a fair price and a home for her other bird. I continue to frequent Agustin's for a feeder rat for my daughter's snake. I have noticed prices have gone up considerably over the years but what hasn't. I do appreciate their frequent feeder mouse/rat card and that they use double paper bags for the critters because they do like to chew free. They always have a great display of reptiles and birds I like to walk through, too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for your reptile and bird needs.

I met him at his Bel Air house and he arrived half an hour late, but to make amends he gave me a cage for 5 dollars and he let me see his set up where he kept and fed his birds. Those birds had it made! He fed them veggies, fruit and kept their space as clean as possible. I had a chance to talk to him and he said that the birds came first, and what I saw pretty much confirmed what he said. I fell in love with Pixie immediately. I would purchase from him again, but my boyfriend pointed out that we have 4 parrotlets and have to concentrate on giving them the best life possible.

We…read morehad a pleasant, in-depth conversation and were told we could place a deposit for $25 that would be non-refundable after 48 hours, and that that very evening he would post photos of all of his available blue parrotlets, as well as advertising a 50% off discount to our airport should anyone local want to order to save us some money. In fact, those changes to the website were not done for five days. However, we decided we would stick with the initial bird we chose and go forward with the transaction. We were told the bird would be shipped on April 12th and given flight details. My children went to sleep ecstatic to pick up our new little pet the next afternoon. Three hours before the scheduled arrival I received an email that the bird was packaged and taken to the airport but was not shipped because he arrived late to the airport. I had to pick my children up from school and give them this news. But I was assured the bird would be on the same flight 2 days later. Oh, and by the way, he had lost my credit card information and could I pay via paypal? This I now know is was a protection strategy for the seller because paypal will not issue a refund on a live animal. So, we paid via paypal and the flight was rescheduled for April 14th. April 14th I went to the airport, two children in tow, and was told by the cargo office that the ticket had been purchased, but Mr. Miller didn't show up to the airport. I got no explanation, and had never received a call or email, nor could I get a call through to the owner. I went home with two crying children, and eventually got a vague email saying "Long story short, I had stuff stolen from me and ppl are not trustworth when I leaving my personal belongs and property with them" and shipping was rescheduled and confirmed for April 16th. This third time the bird arrived successfully, though missing the accompanying health and care info. it should have had. It also had no water source nor water-containing fruit though it had been in transit for at least twelve hours. It had a few seeds scattered on the bottom, but no millet which he later told me was key in de-stressing a bird and he should have included some. In less than 24hrs. the bird died. I contacted Mr. Miller and did a thorough exam of the bird with him on the phone, to which he concluded the cause of death was stress due to the multiple shipping attempts and his failure to include vital care info. He profusely apologized, claimed fault, and promised to send another bird because of his guarantee at no cost the next day. It was my daughter's birthday and I let him know of the extreme upset and he promised he would get right on it and send a new bird asap. He let me know he did not have a blue bird available, but would be most confident if we would accept a white which was older and seemingly more adaptable at no additional charge. We took a few hours to discuss and contacted him the next day to say yes we would like the white bird because it was older and we wanted to be certain we had the healthiest bird to prevent the same outcome. This day Mr. Miller completely changed his story and told me I would owe $142 for shipping and a difference in price due to bird color although the day previous he promised the substitution at no cost. He also said he would not guarantee it's health although his website guarantees the health of each parrotlet for 10 days. Interestingly, his health guarantee and customer service guarantee pages have since been removed from his website, although he does still claim their health for 10-days. We were uncomfortable with the fact that he was no longer guaranteeing the bird and wanted another $90 in shipping, so we asked for a refund. It has now been 8 weeks, and we are yet to get a refund. We believe we are entitled to the cost of the bird plus shipping ($226) because it was the terrible shipping (the bird was packaged for transport and handled three separate times and was not provided millet nor a water source) that lead to it's death. We would never have paid for what was done to that animal. However, we have told Mr. Miller we would settle for a refund minus the shipping and that we wished it to be issued immediately. He has since gotten very hostile, telling us we could try paypal but would get refused and we'd be getting nowhere. We have issued both paypal claims and a claim with the Better Business Bureau and he has refused to respond to either. I would urge others considering ordering through www.parrotletbirds.com to reconsider. Although he has a beautiful website, seems very knowledgeable and was pleasant through out initial dealings, our experience was a disaster. The customer service has been beyond awful, and the shipping was done so poorly it resulted in the death of the bird. And 8 weeks later we are still here waiting for the refund that was promised and has never been issued.

Lol We were even encouraged to bring our pets into the store next time so now I just want to start asking neighbors if I can bring their pet into the store as a field trip. When the shop was located across the street, the staff was attentive and welcoming. The difference in service now is disappointing. During my most recent visit, there was an employee with dark hair standing behind the counter while the entry alarm clearly signaled that customers were coming in, yet no acknowledgment was made. At this point, I would recommend saving your time and choosing another option.

I have visited this store a handful of times with my little girl dog and pretty much every single time that we have visited, we have always purchased something for her. On our last visit, we ended up purchasing her these Canine Marketplace Chicken Chips. As our little girl is getting older, my husband and I started cooking all of her meals (she no longer eats any kibble. Honestly if you want to know, a lot of dog food out there is actually poor quality which actually could be a large contributing factor as to why your pups are getting sick. I have been told by a few veterinarians that if you were to cook for your dog, it would most likely eliminate most needs for any digestive issues and diet related problems that pets have). And because she is on a particular diet, we don't typically purchase treats for her anymore. But have discovered this brand of chicken chips, as the only ingredient is just chicken. Nothing else is included (Farm to Pet is a larger brand that also has single ingredient treats but surprisingly it is cheaper per ounce to purchase this brand). So we come here to purchase these chicken chip treats for her (surprisingly only a few places sell this brand online... and although we may rely so heavily on Amazon to purchase anything and everything, they don't sell this brand). She just loves these treats and I feel good knowing that I can give her these treats and that they are shelf stable (although we do make her chicken, it stays in the fridge. This is nice that I can pack some of these chicken chip treats in a small container and put them in purse so that I can have them on hand for her when we are out). We have also purchased other treats for our little girl in the past (when we were not cooking for her before) and have always had great customer service. We are always greeted by an employee, no matter if we enter in the front or the back. And also having a friendly employee who greets us and our little girl at the register. Overall, this is a great pet store and am glad it is here.

We were really nervous about getting another bird after that experience, but decided to give Feathers and Friends a try. We asked the owner what bird he thought would be the best companion for us since we had been so close to our original bird. He introduced us to a white-winged parakeet, let us hold her, and explained that she was hand-raised. We even paid extra to find out her gender. He was very knowledgeable and really kind! Penny has now been with us for full year now, and she completely runs our house , in the best way possible! She is truly the best bird ever. We'll only be buying from Feathers and Friends from now on!
