This place is very pretentious. It actually became quite amusing after awhile. The restaurant itself is beautiful, but a little too dark. The bathrooms are also dark, which is a bit concerning. The dining room is lined with aquariums, which has potential to be amazing, but they're not quite there. Fish that shouldn't be in the same tank together were together. Some tanks looked cloudy as if they were in the initial cycle stage. I was happy they didn't seat us in a private room, which is actually what we had reservations for. The private rooms were tiny, closet sized spaces with curtains on the front. Our waiter was very kind and professional. Unfortunately, he was extremely soft spoken and hard to understand. Service was very slow even though there were only two other tables throughout the entire time we were there (and one of those two only ordered drinks). The steak was cooked as we had ordered it. The steak was delicious, but we have had better. The mashed potatoes were not good. It was an overall enjoyable dinner, but we wouldn't go back. For a similar atmosphere with better food & service, I recommend Chamberlain's or Bistecca Italian Steakhouse. read more

Cesar salad nothing special with what tasted like bottled dressing and minuscule slivers of parm. Unable to make a Sazerac cocktail . Extremely disappointed- on all aspects: atmosphere, service, food. We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and told that to the person making reservations. It was not even acknowledged by the hostess or the server whose demeanor, knowledge & interaction appeared novice at best... We were hit by a stale, stuffy atmosphere upon entering the restaurant... Could use a fresh paint or some fresh air at least! Food was a mostly a miss... a couple of dishes were acceptable-not the level a restaurant like that should aim for!- The mushrooms were soggy, mushy, moldy & had a weird taste & smell. I make much tastier mashed potatoes! Despite asking for medium, both my lamb and my husband fish were rare! He couldn't eat it! We do not go to special restaurants to celebrate special events for freebies (irrelevant when your check is hundreds of dollars) BUT it is a nice gesture of appreciation and interestingly enough, the adjacent table had a couple celebrating their wedding anniversary as well... their server offered a very nice desert decorated with 'Happy Anniversary' wishes & candles. We really used to love this place but they doubled the seating and then took out the really awesome old school bar. And now they can't keep up with the service since they doubled the seating. Our reservation was at 7:15. It's now 920 and we still haven't gotten our food. Definitely not an upgrade. However the ladies at the bar are awesome. Took great care of us. I host birthday party here on Nov 4th 2022, but I came here on Nov 2 to discuss the menu for my party. In convenience, I have some food for myself and enjoy piano music. Don't forget to order their crab cake. Real crab meat and so yummy. The manager also gives me a glass white wine and bread pudding desert as complimentary. So sweet and nice of him. This is the best restaurant in Addison that everyone should try out. I come here almost 6 times already. After dinner at the restaurant, you go to the lounge bar and chill out afterward. I would have loved to give them a 5* review. However,the amount of nats in the place is unreal. We started in a private booth "super cute" we had an old fashioned (they put club soda in it ) in it which wasn't good, an espresso martini which was good. Bread and crab appetizer which was very good as well. Until we kept getting attacked my fruit flies. We asked to be moved.... They moved us, upon leaving the private booth we put our cell phone light on the wall where we saw multiple fruit flies. They moved us to open dining area and this is where we saw the problem. Behind each booth near the table light is a glass cup with substance in it to attract the fruit flies away from people's meal. We ordered dinner before we saw this; so we quickly ate our NY Strips (bland and not cooked good) , and mash potatoes and veggies. Food was decent, price affordable but if your like me. I love Arthur's! My husband & I visited on our last night in Addison. I didn't really know what to expect, so we went in with open minds. We spent our time in the spacious bar area. The ambience is a luxurious steak house feel: dimly lit with candles, rich woodwork, a blazing fireplace. It's nice because there are multiple rooms throughout the area, including a library-like smoking room & a beautiful long hallway equipped with leather arm chairs & ash trays. There is also a dance floor. A live band begins playing at 9. Until then, they pipe in the singer playing piano in the main dining room. We enjoyed watching an older couple slow dance cheek to cheek. The bartender Claire is top notch. She took great care of us all evening! We ordered dirty vodka martinis with the special request of blue cheese olives, followed by glasses of their yummy house Cabernet & Chardonnay. The bartender in training was very sweet & offered us a snack mix to nosh on. Love it. Very few places offer that anymore. On to the food. In addition to drinks, happy hour pricing is offered for 10-15 apps/dishes too! Having read some Yelp reviews, we knew we wanted the steak tip wedge salad with blue cheese dressing & chicken satay with peanut sauce & mashed potatoes. From the welcome to the departure, everything was first class. The menu and atmosphere made it feel like you were in Paris for a gourmet French dinner. So I'm passing through Dallas and my hotel is right by Arthur's so I decided to walk over and give it a try. Ordered the 16oz ribeye for around $50 and it was average to be honest . What threw me off about this entire place was how dark it was. It gave off a hardcore spooky vibe (would not recommend visiting durning the month of October). I didn't know if the ghost busters or the mafia were about to walk in. It was a dark emotional ride for myself. Came here with a party of 14 for a birthday celebration on a rainy Friday night. Reservations are recommended since this restaurant can be packed. They also have $5 Valet. Parking is limited at peak times. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was welcoming. When everyone from the party showed up, we were led to our tables by the host. We had two waiters serving the two tables that hosted the party of 14. Our waiter was friendly, and funny. The other table was not so lucky with their waiter. He was a no show for a while and only after our waiter brought our drinks did the other party sitting at the other table start complaining that they did not have their drink orders taken. Our waiter went and summoned the other waiter to help them out. The restaurant has a comprehensive drink menu. Wife and I ordered the $11 Wedding Cake Martini which was great. The restaurant is known for steak and sea food, but they had a well priced 3 course meal for $49. For the appetizer, we tried the $8 Champagne Brie soup, it was super tasty! For the main meal, we had the $49 "Surf & Turf" - Filet Mignon and Australian Cold Water Lobster Tail with Idaho Baked Potato. The steak was tender, but wife thought the lobster was rubbery/chewy. We got the Gran Marnier Creme Brulee for dessert. Overall, good atmosphere to have a dinner date, or event, other than the initial issue with the waiter for half of our guests at another table. The items are a little pricey, so come prepared to spend a good amount of change. They had a big wedding party when we dined and also a live band and open dance floor close to the bar. Elegant, Lively Steak & Seafood Restaurant. This is one of my favorites to dine at for restaurant week every year. You walk in to a very elegant, dimly lit and intimate restaurant. To the right they have a sectioned off bar with a dance floor and live music playing. The hostess greeted us as we walked in and was able to seat us despite arriving early. The maitre d' showed us to our table right away. As we sat down the waiter promptly arrived to greet us and introduced himself. He had water poured for us and offered us the wine/cocktail menu. Shortly after that fresh hot bread was brought out. This restaurant is one of my favorites to dine at because they never limit their menu. They give you a nice variety of options to choose from and it is only $39 a person for restaurant week. The waiter offered us the regular menu as well in case we wanted to order an additional appetizer. We ended up ordering Arthur's Famous Lobster Cocktail to start. The market price for this dish was $25. They poach the lobster, chill it, then cut it up in to easily edible pieces with a remoulade and brandy cocktail sauce. The appetizer did not take long to come out and it looked and tasted delicious! Especially the brandy cocktail sauce! After that we decided to order from the restaurant week menu. For the starter we both chose Arthur's Champagne Brie Soup. The entrees we ordered were the Lamb Shank Osso Bucco, and the Center Cut Prime Tenderloin. Then for dessert we ordered the Black & White Cheesecake and Grand Marnier Creme Brûlée. The soup came out and it was thick, rich and flavorful with a piece of brie crostini in the center. You could taste both the champagne and the brie together, which was a delightful flavor combination. They brought out a raspberry sorbet as a pallet cleanser before the entrees came out. The lamb osso bucco dish was massive! It was 16oz with the bone that was still loaded with meat and full of flavor. It also had a delicious vegetable risotto underneath it. The center cut prime tenderloin was no disappointment either, it was cooked to a perfect rare, and sat in a homemade béarnaise sauce. Last but not least the 2 desserts came out. The black and white cheesecake was simple but it was paired with a chocolate sauce that gave it lots of flavor. The Grand Marnier Creme Brûlée was plated independent of a ramekin dish. It was a perfect texture, albeit heavy on the Grand Marnier yet still quite delicious. In short, the food was excellent, the service was beyond expectation, and the atmosphere was quite memorable. I highly recommend dining here and will definitely be back. read more

We were looking for a last minute steak house, and found Arthur's on yelp. Let me start off by saying the ambiance of this restaurant was fantastic. Great seating, lighting, and huge chandelier to set the mood for a romantic date. We were there on Friday and saw they had live music, which looked and sounded like a lot of fun. Once all that was absorbed, then our food and drinks came out. We ordered the filet mignon along with the stuffed salmon. To make a long story short, everything ended up being TERRIBLE. Quality of the food is far below subpar when compared to its competitors. My old fashion tasted like a watered-down crown and coke with a splash of mouthwash. This is a very upscale plan. Dress nice. They have "red rooms" which are private rooms with candlelight dim. Great for dates or people hard of hearing. The space a bit small though. The waitress/waiter was very nice & quick. The bread was hard and crunchy. & the bread is what I go for at fancy restaurants. What I like is they bring a sober before meal to "cleanse" your taste bud or get it ready for the meal. That was nice and it was yummy . Food presentation couldve been better. And private room shouldve had more lighting. All in all good experience. Definitely an "older crowd" or very highclass ambiance. read more

Currently sitting here in the restaurant. My husband made a 5:45 reservation on Christmas Day. We arrived on time and we were told they were clearing our table. We saw several people come in after us, seated immediately. We waited almost 30 minutes, and went back up to the counter and the gentleman was like "wait whats your name? Did yall check in?" We waited another 10 minutes and then we were sat down. Our seats were the most undesirable seats in the restaurant, next to the high chairs and waiter's cart. This wasn't the only table in the restaurant. It was in a side room, with one large family party and several smaller tables.. We waited another 20 minutes for water. We were not greeted, given menus, asked for our beverages, etc. I understand being short staffed, but I watched 3 different waiters come into the room we were in several times and not a single person asked if we were helped, or anything. They literally have to go right by us to get sharp knives for the larger table. Ten minutes later we were brought bread. Still no menus or drinks. The host brought another party in and they immediately received menus and water. Five minutes later, the host came back again and started taking the other tables drink order. By this time I was pissed, and as he walked away, I shouted out for service. He apologized, but he was the very man who sat us. He came with the menus and took our drink orders. But this is after we were here over an hour. Service improved somewhat after this, but it was also over 30 minutes passed closing time, so I'm pretty sure they were trying to get us out. The host was our waiter for the rest of the time. There was a waited with a pony tail, who was helping the large table next to us. He was actually very rude to them. When he presented the certain items were out, he blamed them: "Well if yall had gotten here earlier, we would have everything." Then, one of the older ladies at the other table asked the waited with the ponytail for a fork or something. Well, he had to go by our table because of the location of the cart and I heard him call her "a pain in the a$$" under his breath. Listen, I do understand it is Christmas. If my husband and I go out for Christmas dinner, we are larger tippers and very easy/agreeable customers. This experience was horrible. There were a lot of interactions that had racial undertones to it. The only people waiting for their tables, in a half full restaurant, were black. The other tables in our area were white, and they received service immediately. On a positive note, the host had good service. When we brought this to the hosts attention and he was very apologetic and kind. He told us that he was told by the manager to just work our table and the other table since they were closed. He said that the waiters all over the restaurant were ignoring tables. What kind of system is this?! We have only had our starters so far and I had the crab cake. It was good, great big lumps of crab and lobster. Still waiting on our entree. Hopefully, the experience improves. read more

Since Steve Field's closed we've been looking for a new place. Many of the folks from there moved to Arthur's including the manager and the chef so we decided to check it out. We went for Thanksgiving and I thought it was terrific. They've been around for 70 years or so in a couple different locations so there is a lot of history. The revolving door is from a hotel in NYC from 1917. Beautiful paintings on the wall as well. The place is huge - I heard it is an old Capital Grille building. I ordered a steak and it was terrific. The scalloped potatoes were also great. For dessert they had two kinds of mousse and it was also great. My son and wife ordered the traditional turkey dinner. It was a real turkey not the processed slice. Their mashed potatoes and stuffing was also terrific. Great service just like Steve Field's. Love it. We will now be dining here regularly. read more

I formerly lived in a nearby apartment complex that has now been enlarged into a luxurious and multipurpose unit composed of businesses, apartments and condos. Woof. That was bad. They gave us a card asking for a yelp review on our way out, so here goes. Ambiance: Oppressively dark. Our waiter was using a penlight to look at his notes at one point. It's like a 1980s supper club, but it comes off as outdated rather than vintage, complete with overcrowded fish tanks with fake plants. Food: We ordered off the restaurant week menu. I started with the crab cake - lots of mayonnaise and a fishy taste, not like fresh seafood. For entrée, the beef bourguignon. The menu described tenderloin, but this tasted like crockpot pot roast. Except it was not tender - chew it until you are tired, then either swallow it mostly whole or try to discreetly spit it out in the napkin. For dessert - grand Marnier crème brulee. It was sulfur-y with scrambled egg texture, not really custard at all. I do not recommend this restaurant. At all. read more

Arthur's is an old-school, traditional steakhouse complete with elaborate fishtanks, a wall of bookshelves, and a huge chandelier a a centerpiece of the dining area. On the evening we went for a date night, we had an okay experience. Our date didn't start off or end well, but the in-between was okay. We had a very early reservation (5:30pm). We were greeted upon arrival and were seated at the all-too-well-lit dining area. The place was nearly empty and instead of picking one of the more prime or intimate seating Iocations, we were seated right behind the concierge desk. Since it was quiet in the restaurant it meant they we could hear every conversation and them ours, and of course, we had onlookers. By the time we realized we were really unhappy with our location, we already had cocktails, bread, etc. and decided not to bring it up. When we were seated, we were not provided menus (food, cocktails, nor wine) and we waited about 15 minutes for anyone to approach us. Finally when someone did approach us, we had to ask for menus and since we were "thirsty" we picked a classic cocktail to order without the menu. We both had an old fashioned to drink, and they were served as they were meant to be: STRONG. I would definitely recommend. I tied the brie soup at the server's recommendation - and yes, it's worth a try. My husband had the scallops, which he felt were overcooked, tough, fishy-tasting, and just didn't enjoy. We ordered a nice wine at a reasonable price, although I wish I had brought my own bottle quite honestly. For steak, my husband had the ribeye and I had the filet. My husband asked to substitute his mashed potatoes for the baked potato, which was exactly what I was going to request, but the server gave him a hard time about it and hemmed and hawed until finally conceding to do this. So, I stuck with the mashed potatoes, which by the way were delicious, but I wish I too could have had a baked potato. Our steaks, however, were honestly just average or maybe below average. My husband and I are lucky enough to dine in steakhouses quite frequently and this one just didn't cut it. Our steaks were cooked fine but just had no real crust, flavor, etc. Throughout the meal our server kept pressing the molten chocolate cake - mostly because of the time to cook, I think, but it still felt a little pushy. When we finished our meal we had a really hard time getting our server to come to our table to bring the check, we waited about another 15 minutes. After our meal we decided to check out the cigar lounge, which was a complete bust. Under no circumstances should you plan to spend time in their "lounge". It is basically a crammed hallway with some couches where you can smoke inside instead of stepping outside. It also serves as a glamourous hallway to a toilet. Just think: you get to enjoy sounds of toilets flushing but NOT the sound from TVs in that area which were permanently set to mute. We were hoping to find a selection of cigars to purchase, but when my husband approached the bartender he got a sad surprise. The bartender tossed out onto the bar a plastic bag containing the three (THREE!!!) single cigars they had available for purchase and stated, "This is all we have, it's the end of the week.". A Saturday night is the end of the week??? Surely, a place advertising a cigar lounge should be stocked for a Saturday? As other reviewers have mentioned, the clientele here is older. Average age of diners we saw were in their 70s-80s. We even saw a customer being escorted to a table that was further than he was capable of walking (and he was complaining, although the host did nothing to accommodate stating the empty tables they were passing were "reserved"). We were very out of place as a young couple in their early 30s. We didn't feel uncomfortable with this, but others might. The age gap was noticeable. Overall, I just can't see us giving this place another shot given the many choices of steakhouses in the area. read more
