I live in the area and have been here previously. It was a great experience previously. However today we came to have a drink to say goodbye to a friend moving. I ordered a Rosé. When I came I was offered a taste. It was barely a drop. It seemed fine. Then on the second taste I realized this was burned or expired. I asked for a replacement. I got a great sparkling Rosé. At the end I was informed the old wine I didn't drink. That was a brown color, much darker than a Rosé. Was going to still be on my tab. It would have been nice to know that before I made a decision to order another drink. The server said "It is what it is".... No help for customers. This was horrible. Review for people looking for a coffee shop to study: I actually thought i was going to Ascention coffee shop and typed Astoria. I arrived and decided to stay. I asked the hostess if it was ok to study there as it looks like a restaurant. She said it was perfectly fine! She asked if i wanted to sit by a wall plug to connect a laptop. I didn't want to take dining space so i asked to sit at the bar. During my study time, i got two lattes: dirty chai latte and vanilla latte. Both creamy and flavorful. I liked this coffee more than other coffee shops in Dallas! Despite is being more of a restaurant, i got great studying in. There was light early 2000s music playing, plenty of full tables with guests talking. The location is in quiet Addison circle, so cute and quaint. The inside does look a bit dated and older, but honestly no one cared, everyone was having a good time! I felt really at peace in here! The staff was kind and checked in on me. Super disappointed because there was a hair in the whip cream of my beverage and all the server said was "I took the whip off and replaced it since it's on the side, is that okay?" I let it go because the hair string was half in the whip, half on the side of the cup. I saw her put new whip but ultimately, I'm disappointed that she didn't even offer to comp my drink considering how off-putting that can be for anyone. Maybe I was just too nice :( I like Astoria overall but the inside is super cramped and there's little to no outlets for laptops. I believe this place is meant to be a date spot given the eight (?) small tables inside but the decor is extremely outdated and smidge tacky. Looking at other coffee shops in the area, Astoria is doing itself a disservice by not keeping up the atmosphere, vibe, furniture or decor within. Went here last night on a date after walking around the park so I was excited to go here finally since its right next to my apt. Our waiter was very friendly and informative. We sampled some red Cabernet and some Pinot Grigio. We ended up ordering a bottle of the Pinot Gris, which was super delicious, tart, crisp, and slightly sweet. We also ordered a cheese and meat charcuterie board. We got the smoked gouda, maple smoked cheddar, Finochiona (which is a salami with fennel), and Prosciutto. The pita bread was warm and it came with walnuts and olives on the side as well as thinly sliced green apples. Overall, we had a great time here and the ambiance was great. I LOVE ASTORIA! I've been here countless times with different groups, and it's always such an enjoyable experience. The staff--especially one particular server--are always so kind and straight to the point with great service. The drinks are consistently delicious; I recently tried the Espresso Martini (this one will definitely keep you awake!) and the Chai, both of which were fantastic. Came to this place to meet a great friend of mine and catch up on life. However although the food I got was very good as well as the ambience the service was very poor. As soon as I walked in and sat down a waiter came to me letting me know I can't have my water bottle in the cafe and was rushing me to order something from the menu. The first time I let the waiter know please let me take a look and decide. I believe the waiter came maybe 3-4 times within a 10 min period asking me if I wanted something to eat and I finally was rushed to make a decision as when I asked them what they recommend on the menu they said everything was good and provided no helpful insight. When they brought the food a portion of my food was wrong so I kindly ask the waiter if this can be fixed and instead of saying okay will do they started arguing for a few minutes that's what I had ordered and that they were not at fault. Astoria has a great atmosphere and patio - we sat inside but would've been happy to be on the patio if it weren't 100°. While the entryway sign says wait to be seated, on Sunday afternoon it was wide open. The desserts looked incredible along with the great wine list, but we were just here to sit with some coffee and work. We ordered a cappuccino and the Shekarato. Both coffees were great. We also has 2 Topo Chicos. While we enjoyed our visit, this was not a place to sit with a laptop (not to mention no outlets), as our bill was $30+ pre-tip for just the 2 coffees and 2 Topos. As mentioned in other reviews, when the waiter brought the electronic bill system, the tip options were 22%, 25% and 28%. Wine is not enjoyable. The Malbec is overpriced by about $5 and has a poor taste for a cheap wine. The bar countertop has the unpleasant smell of low-quality pine cleaner. We come here reasonably often. My wife and I have a coffee and some form of treat daily around mid-afternoon. We stopped in to Astoria today to get a coffee and dessert. We had a cappuccino, mocha frappuccino, carrot cake slice and a piece of Oreo cheesecake. Today it was obvious the prices have gone up appreciably. I was a little shocked that our bill was so much higher. In addition, the server presented the bill on one of those automated credit card machines. (I hate them, especially when the server stands there and waits for you to select a tip amount. ) The options were 22%, 25% and 28%. When is it appropriate to tip a server 28% for bringing you two overpriced coffees and a couple of desserts. In addition, they were playing rap music and there were cigar smokers on the patio. I don't like either. It is a very European feeling café and in the past the service has been much better. This time, the server was hanging around in the kitchen area and not caring for her tables. I literally had to go to the counter to order desserts and to request the bill and a to-go box. Definitely, not as nice a place as it was when we first found it. We met some friends here for a late Saturday evening coffee & dessert splurge. With six of us, we lucked out with comfy seats inside. I was pleasantly surprised to find they have a fairly expansive menu beyond coffee. Since I was a little hungry, I ordered a small pepperoni pizza. It hit the spot. A bit later, I ordered a cappuccino/extra shot and a slice of their Tres Leches cake. Both were delicious. Others in our group ordered various drinks/desserts and enjoyed what they had.
