Awesome quick service restaurant with salads, sandwiches, soups, and some hot foods. The prices are beyond reasonable! It's hard to get a salad anywhere in the Loop that varies from $10-15, but at Arturo Express it is easy to do. The portions are large and the food fills you up! The people are also very friendly. If you're a regular, they remember your name and who you are. It's not your typical Chicago Loop joint where you are just a number. Everyone that works there has been there for a while. There's plenty of seating and they are quick to get you your food. They also have a loyalty card you can get stamped for each meal. You buy 10 meals and get a free one. I love it. Casual little place good for lunch. It's just a basic deli with salads and sandwiches. Arturo has most of the classic favorites of an Italian deli. Prices are kind of high for things that are pretty basic to be honest. This is a good stop not far from Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center, so it's convenient for travelers. Basic looking place with a counter and a few tables inside. It wasn't busy when I stopped in before getting on a train. This was lunch time but no one else was inside besides the workers. It's open at breakfast and lunch. The lunch menu is pretty much salads and sandwiches. Greek Salad looked pretty good. It's about $12, which seemed like a lot. The salad was a pretty good size. It had the classic ingredients. The rest of the menu has stuff like hoagies, and Italian meats like salami. Good place to get okay Italian food. It's just too expensive for what you get. The reason I gave Arturo Express 2 stars instead of 5 is not because of the food. It's because of the extra slow service at check-out. I returned to working on-site three days a week in September at the office building next door of Arturo's. Prior to the pandemic, I used to go to Arturo's for lunch several times a month. Since September, I've only been there two other times because of the slow service. I thought I'd try it again today, and the situation has not improved. Food is decent. I've tried the sandwiches, pizzas, and pastas, and they're good enough. Service is good as well. They are pretty speedy with getting orders and making the food. Ambiance is fine, as it's a typical deli and or fast casual type of setting. The reason for the low score is because they advertise daily specials, but they don't actually charge you that price. I've looked at the past few times I've been there, in which I know I ordered the daily special, and I never got the receipt. When I look at the charges on my credit card, they didn't charge the daily special price. WTF. If you've eaten here in the past and ordered the daily specials, I can almost guarantee that you were overcharged for it. Since they seem to be doing this on purpose, I don't recommend this place at all! read more

A fantastic restaurant in downtown when you crave delicious inexpensive Italian food. They offer excellent homemade lasagnas including my favorite spinach version. How good are their lasagnas?? Their lasagnas sell out daily - that's how good they are!! Their Italian sandwiches are awesome - my favorites are the Italian Sub, Tuna Salad, and Turano. They offer daily specials including sandwich with chips and drink for $10 which is inexpensive for the downtown area. They have a large dining area if you want to dine-in. Best breakfast bagel sandwich I've ever had. I can't speak for lunches, but the sandwiches, salads, and entree they have fresh on display every day certainly look good. Arturo Express is a little Italian cafe right on Canal near Union Station. They seem authentically Italian with old black and white family portraits hanging on the wall, and Italian newspapers modge-podged on the columns in the center of the cafe. The breakfast bagels come with fresh eggs, your choice of cheese, and sausage or bacon, put together hot off a panini press. They have a variety of bagel types but jalepeño cheddar is definitely the best. The bagels are not too bready and nowhere near bland, and squished down just right on the panini press. Perfect proportion of all sandwich components. I should also mention the bacon is fresh, crispy, and high-quality! Service to get your bagel is fast- you'll be in and out in five minutes. All the guys working behind the counter are friendly and are usually smiling when I come in. Only thing I would not recommend is the "fresh squeezed" orange juice they serve in clear plastic cups with a lid. It would appear as if they did just squeeze oranges into the cups, but it actually comes out of purchased gallons and you can immediately tell it tastes like any grocery store bought orange juice. They got me to try it for $1.50 extra to my bagel sandwich, and I was sorely disappointed, especially with how good the bagel sandwiches are. Last item- ask for a frequent buyer card for your bagels. Buy 9 get the 10th free! I didn't know they had this till like my 4th or 5th bagel and someone in front of me had one. Highly recommended for a breakfast sandwich on your way to work! read more

I ordered from wild berry because I heard of how good they were. I ordered carry out because they had such a long wait. They ended up forgetting my gluten free pancakes so I called back to see if I could pick them up and they were overly apologetic and made my pancakes right away and gave me a gift card for the mistake. I came in, not only to an amazingly friendly cashier, but the manager LeAnne greeted me with a smile and apologized profusely for their error. I used to work in the building right next door to Arturo so this was one of my go-to places for lunch back then. All of the Italian Specialty and Deli sandwich selections were great -- you really can't go wrong with any of these. My favorite was the Sicilia (Tuna Salad) sandwich -- hearty and delicious. I never tried anything other than the sandwich offerings, but I'm sure that everything else on the menu is as good as these. I've stopped in here a handful of times as it is near my school. Be aware it is a morning and afternoon place, they close at 3pm so it is not an option for dinner or before hopping on Metra for a commute home. It's an Italian lunch counter with fairly quick service and the option to eat in or take out, there are a decent amount of tables but there is a lunch rush to be expected around noon. They have all kinds of sandwiches, pasta, salads, and pizza. I've only had the Genoa, Firenze and Turano sandwiches before. They were all pretty tasty, a decent size portion and used fresh meats and toppings. The daily special meals for $7 are a very good deal. Usually it's a sandwich, regular chips and fountain drink for $7 even with tax. That is a good deal for a Loop lunch. Another added bonus is the punch card, where after 9 lunches (even the $7 daily special) your 10th is free. Good incentive to keep people coming back. Service is fast and friendly. Almost all the food is on display, so you can see exactly what each item looks like (as well as how big or small it is). The best thing about Arturos: delicious food prepared at a fast pace. As many have mentioned, walking distance from Union Station, Arturos is a cute little Italian joint located near the CVS on the corner of Canal. When I walk into Arturos, I immediately get an amazing vibe. Co-workers laughing, eating good food, enjoying the small but quaint seating in the storefront. I've tried a few different things from Arturos. I've tried their buffalo chicken pizza, which was super good. Not too greasy, good buffalo flavor, and a nice amount of chicken on the pizza. I've had their broccoli cheddar soup, which is my favorite. Super creamy, super flavorful. I've also had their Caprese sandwhich which is also very good and very filling. Their portions are pretty large for the price. I usually walk out of Arturos only spending under $10 which is an accomplishment for being lunch in the Loop. Overall, I really enjoy eating at Arturos. All of the employees have been super nice and helpful. The line always moves fast. Good eats, good ambiance. Give it a shot! read more
