    Loaded avocado toast
    Tasha K.

Arvo Café is an outdoorsy cafe perfect for breakfast and coffee with friends. I always get their Loaded Avocado Toast, which is good but a little hard to eat neatly. The iced americano was also a nice treat. Vibe: They only offer outdoor seating and get pretty busy, but usually there's always tables available. The wait for food isn't that long and it's a nice spot to sit and chat over brunch. Parking: Salt Kaka'ako has a paid parking lot with lots of stalls. There's also metered street parking throughout the area.

We went to Arvo Café for my birthday breakfast, and everything really hit the spot. The egg salad open-face sandwich was super flavorful -- in addition to the standard egg salad fixings, they add capers! So good! Their chia seed pudding cup was also really satisfying with great texture. And the Arvo Green Salad is always a favorite of mine; it's fresh, bright, and full of flavor every time. Since Arvo is such a popular spot, the wait can be a little unpredictable depending on when you go, but it's always worth it. The service is welcoming, and my chai latte was refreshing without being too sweet. We sat in the SALT Barn, which made the whole breakfast feel relaxed and easy. And with SALT's parking structure, finding parking is usually not an issue at all. Overall, Arvo is one of those places that we visit when we're out early on a Saturday or Sunday on the hunt for breakfast -- perfect for a casual breakfast or something a little more special.

Staff: Vibrant, friendly, helpful young people Location: set back off the street in the SALT mall. Outdoor seating. DIY water station. Food: Interesting menu. Vegetarian and non vegetarian options. For the veggies I recommend the haloumi "burger" slab of cheese grilled and served in a good bun with toppings. Egg salad with capers was good but mild. Ricotta toast was mellow and came with fresh fruit on top. All servings were large. Coffee with the ash was good, except the last sip, which was gritty.

I tried every matcha latte at every cafe at Salt and within 1 mile radius of Salt. In my opinion, Arvo's matcha latte tastes the best. I get it iced with soy milk. Arvo's matcha is on the sweeter side but still has the umami and grassiness of matcha with a deep green color. I also love their charcoal latte and loaded avo toast. Everything tastes great. Arvo is aesthetically pleasing and the workers are always sweet.

Meatballs and Toast ($15 as of 10/2025) with an Iced Chocolate ($5.50 as of 10/2025)

Located right in the middle of SALT At Our Kaka'ako is Arvo Cafe, a cute little cafe that sells very aesthetic-looking food and drinks. I've been wanting to try this place out but always ended up being in the Kaka'ako area hours after Arvo Cafe closes. I originally wanted to get the egg salad toast but they were sold out by the time I got to Arvo Cafe - I still want to try this out the next time I come here. I ordered the Meatballs and Toast ($15) and it felt like a simple yet filling dish. The tomatoes and the ricotta really boosted the flavor and mouthfeel of the dish. The two pieces of bread were bigger than I thought. Both pieces had a nice crunch on the outside and a fluffy center. The presentation of the food was very pretty! I also got the Iced Chocolate ($5.50) which just tasted like an improved chocolate milk. Not overly sweet and fulfilled my chocolate cravings. The overall presentation of Arvo Cafe is cute and perfect for individuals and small groups. I also really like how they have umbrellas over the tables to provide shade. My one gripe that Arvo Cafe has no control over is the fact that customers may get bothered by birds a lot. I fortunately didn't have any birds bothering me while I ate but there were two different tables nearby that had to constantly shoo away birds.

Thanks for the puppuccino!! I had a small iced dirty chai, it was gone too soon next time I'm ordering a large because it was so good. I appreciated how light it felt and the sweetness was just right, nothing tasted too overwhelming. I didn't have the opportunity to order any of the toast options available, but I will be sure to come back for them. The avocado toast and the egg salad toast I saw other people getting looked too good to miss out on.

@fortunefoodfinds: "Remember to stay nice n' TOASTY! A Nutella Toast, Loaded Avocado Toast, Cold Brew, n' Matcha Latte from ARVO in Kaka'ako. A cute n' tasty cafe, that automatically gives beautiful vibes for a good day!" Service: fully staffed Interior: limited seating inside, merchandise for purchase Exterior: plenty of outdoor bench n' table seating with umbrellas, located in the center of SALT Wait time: 5-15 mins Parking: metered street or garage Overall comments: it's been many years since my last visit n' I'm happy to say the quality of food n' drinks are still really good! The matcha latte was great n' the toasts were yuMmmy just like I remember. My kids ofc loved the Nutella toast while the avocado toast was def loaded n' flavorful. The atmosphere is cool n' beautifully decorated with fresh tropical plants making for the perfect backdrop. Need to come here more often!

Iced Lilikoi Cream Top Matcha Latte

Truly obsessed with Arvo Cafe. I came for an Iced Matcha Latte for the first time here in 2022 and remembered it being delicious - flavorful, not bitter, not too sweet, and creamy. So, when visiting Oahu again, Arvo was 100% on my list and it sooooo exceeded my expectations even then! I came back twice in 3 days and only wished I could have gone more often during my stay! I got their Lilikoi Cream Top Iced Matcha Latte, and it is seriously so good. The Lilikoi Cream gives the Matcha a fruity tartness that balances the strong matcha flavor really well and feels super refreshing! The cafe space itself is really cute. They have pretty limited seating, with less inside than outside. But their outdoor tables do have umbrellas covering them to help with the sun. The cafe also had a clothing rack out with some second-hand items they were selling at honestly very fair prices. I even ended up picking up a swimsuit on my second visit here!

Arvo Coffee is a super pretty café with a great vibe--the aesthetic and atmosphere are on point. The staff is great, like very friendly. Unfortunately, the matcha was a letdown: it tasted weak and watered down, lacking the richness you'd expect. If you're there for the Instagram-worthy setting, it's worth a visit, but don't go expecting a strong, flavorful matcha. I'll try it again when i visit oahu but until then, my rating is a 3.

Smoked salmon toast and lavender oat matcha lattes
    Lauren L.

The aesthetics of the place is on point. A beautiful outdoor seating area I go to order is the salmon toast with a lavender Matcha. This is something new, but for the salmon they are offering to sub out the sourdough toast for and everything bagel, which is what we did. I would also say that as far as drinks, I would actually prefer hot over ice because I feel like the foam and flavoring are stronger. Workers are always pretty friendly lines could get long, but they are able to turn around the food a pretty quick. Order up at the front, take a seat, then they will call your name to pick up. The price prices are higher, but I think it's totally worth it because I feel like the quality ingredients they use are top-notch. Very simple food but everything works together so well.

My wonderful cousin brought me to Arvo Café for brunch. It was located in the cutest spot and was decorated extremely nice. The ladies provide provided great customer service. I loved my smoked salmon and toast and cold brew coffee

    Matcha chia pudding
    Eunice K.

To start with the good... The service was fine. Not over the top friendly but just efficient which I appreciate. The location is a small little space with outdoor seating at SALT kakaako. The place and food are aesthetically pleasing. I got the matcha chia pudding (hyped from social media) and to put it bluntly- it's overhyped and mid. It's $12 for a mediocre dish liked only for the "presentation." The fruit wasn't good, the matcha cream on top was literally matcha whipped cream, and the chia pudding at the bottom tasted like nothing. No it's not filling and no it isn't AMAZING like these influencers say. The coffee as well... got an ice latte and cold brew- both weirdly sour and very acidic. And for $5 for a small cup? No. No thank you. Won't be returning.

Today we tried the Guava with cream cheese and Black Sesame with cream cheese. The bread made made both yummy! Both were not too sweet and served in a lovely presentation. Prices were pushing the wallet for the serving size however, I can understand it because of the time and effort that it takes to make the toast presentation make you do a double take. Overall, the service was good and we did not feel rushed at all. We were able to slow down our typical pace and just enjoy each other's company. I got a seasonal drink (white sesame kinako latte with a shot of matcha) and at $11 it was maybe the priciest cup of caffeine I've ever had haha. But it was interesting and tasty and got me refreshed, so worth savoring as a special treat. My husband got a maple cocoa cold foam coffee and it was also delicious! We also got a couple of baked items, which took a while (barista did thank us for waiting) to come out but the tuna melt toast especially hit the spot. The dashi tamago sando was just alright. Every morning, without fail, people gathered outside waiting patiently for pastries. No flashy signs. No gimmicks. Just quiet consistency. That alone intrigued me. By the second day, my mind was made up. I'm an early riser, so the plan was simple: go on my usual morning run and arrive before the rush. Japanese culture and craftsmanship have long fascinated me. Through close friends with family roots tracing back to Japan, I've developed a deep appreciation for the culture -- the discipline, the rituals, the precision, and the respect for process. There's a beauty in the intentional pace at which things are done. Nothing rushed. Nothing careless. This bakery embodied that philosophy perfectly. The space itself was small, modest, and aromatic. No overdesigned interiors. No influencer bait. Just the comforting smell of fresh bread and butter hanging in the air. Some bakeries hide behind elaborate architecture and presentation, but this place understood something more important: when the product is exceptional, the product becomes the attraction. The pastries ranged from playful and charming to elegant and refined. The Salt & Butter bread was an instant staple -- savory, warm, and impossibly light. The dough practically dissolved like air. Thankfully, nothing felt overly heavy, because I completely lost control of my ordering strategy. The Kobo Kuma -- a soft bear-shaped bun filled with homemade vanilla bean custard -- was perfection. Equal parts cute and comforting. The Cinnamon Roll was solid, but the Haupia pastry completely stole the show. For those unfamiliar, Haupia is a traditional Hawaiian coconut pudding found throughout Polynesia. The flavor here was subtle yet lingering, delicate without disappearing. The kind of flavor that quietly stays with you long after the last bite. Then came the Blueberry Danish -- beautiful, buttery, and perfectly sweet. I didn't even make it to the savory options this time, which honestly just gives me another reason to return. And I absolutely will -- whether back here in Hawaii or perhaps at one of their mainland locations in Los Angeles. Some places become popular because of hype. Others because of quality. This bakery earned its line.
