Shio ramen with extra eggs and side of kimchi

Food was amazing. Definitely one of my top ramen places. The only downside is there are no refills on drinks and when it comes to the to-go containers they are very small. I would suggest to make sure you're able to finish most of what you order or else you'll have to ask for multiple containers sadly. Other than that service was very chill and quick.

Asa Ramen is hands down my favorite Ramen place to go to in So Cal. I've tried almost every type of ramen bowl they have to offer and I've had zero complaints every time I stop by. Asa has the most authentic, loveliest, rich and delicious recipes. The prices here are unbeatable and very reasonable, not to mention how abundant the servings are. Service here is definitely top tier. Tiger and Utoh are always super kind, helpful and prompt. The ambiance of this place is very authentic, original with traditional twist. It really settles you in, balancing you out readying you for a phat hot bowl of ramen.

Walking in, there was no customer at 8:45 pm on a Friday night. The restaurant smelled of secondhand smoke, which is not good for a eating place. I moved to bar seating so the smell was better. The restroom did not have anymore liquid soap either. This would be a decent place to get ramen and small dishes since they close late, but it's not my favorite ramen spot currently. If they make changes to the secondhand smoke and liquid soap in the restroom, it would be better for their business. Their chicken karaage is really good, so would return.

So the Ramen is the best I've had n i have traveled through different states. I came her once and the broth got me hooked. I normally get craving to get it so often. My go to is the Shyo Tonkatsu Ramen. I can put up with cigarettes smell as it's like you're in Japan. The service does take a while as it's made when ordered. I have tried several times to come at 6PM as that's when it's open, but all the times I have come. It doesn't open on time. It's like when they feel like it. They gyosa is bomb too. I put up with it because the food is great. But sometimes I wish they would open on time cuz I'm hungry.

This place is great because it's open late. It's not the best ramen but it's good enough for those nights when you are craving ramen and nothing is open or about to close. We have eaten here at normal dinner hours and not just late night. The service is quick and friendly. This time we ordered: Gyoza Shio Ramen Miso Ramen The shio ramen has a better flavor than the miso ramen. I was trying something new. I normally order the Kotteri Ramen. Try it! Enjoy!

10/10 -- We'll Definitely Be Back!…read more I recently tried Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata Ramen for the first time with a group of six leaders from my job. One of our coworkers has been coming here for 20 years, so we knew we were in good hands! The menu is EXTENSIVE and can be a little overwhelming for a first-timer, but our waitstaff was amazing--patient, friendly, and happy to help us navigate all the options. And trust me... we ordered! We tried several lunch combos, appetizers, and sides. I had the veggie ramen, and our table also enjoyed the fried green beans, veggie spring rolls, fried rice, and plenty of other goodies. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. What I loved most was the comfortable, no-frills atmosphere. This place has clearly been doing what they do for a long time, and it almost feels like you're eating in Grandma's kitchen--good food, welcoming service, and no need for anything fancy. And PLEASE don't leave without trying the plum wine! We ordered a bottle for the table, and it was delicious. 10/10 for the food, service, and overall experience. Ramen lovers, put this one on your list! We'll definitely be back.

I've been going to Tomizo since they opened. There were a few months after the initial visit that I…read moredidn't go and I'll explain in a sec, but since then I come probably twice a month now. Ironically speaking, I do not like Sapporo style ramen. I've never been a fan of Miso ramen, and for some reason Sapporo style is just something I do not enjoy. That being said, everyone I know that does like Sapporo style ramen say it is good. But then, why am I giving this place 5 stars and why do I eat here so often? Tomizo added tsukemen to their menu, and they have the best tsukemen in the area. It's a very rich heavy fatty tsukemen, and it blows away everywhere else's tsukemen in the area. The portions are always extremely generous as well. The most important thing is, they use actual tsukemen noodles, they are fat and thick, while a lot of places near here give you ramen noodles for their tsukemen. The other thing I absolutely love about this place is that they have seasonal ramen, and while I'm not a huge fan of some of them, other times they are just amazing. The current seasonal ramen is a cold cream tonkotsu style, and it is absolutely divine. My partner got it last night and it was so good, I wanted to come back tonight to get an order of it myself. I absolutely hope they decide to add it to their main menu permanently, because a cold ramen dish would be a god send to have readily available. The staff are all wonderful, incredibly attentive, and are all very cheerful and upbeat. The music variation changes quite a bit. Sometimes it'll be vocaloid heavy, other times it'll be very late 90s sounds of Tokyo (Fantastic Plastic Machine, Pizzicato Five), or sometimes an early 2000s jpop play list. As someone a little older I don't think there's ever been a time I didn't enjoy the music being played. They also always have dodgers games (reruns during the offseason) playing on a tv for the local fans. The only real bad thing about Tomizo is the parking lot is tiny and shared with a sushi place that can get busy. So parking can be difficult sometimes.

The spice levels are now serious lol, they pour less broth, and the fried rice changed. They skimped out on the meat in the fried rice and the flavor and texture has changed. The restaurant wasn't full yet but it filled up very quickly after we sat down (shortly after Shinsengumi opened). There's a decent amount of seating inside and it's very lively. We had our kids with us and didn't feel too self conscious when they were making a ruckus lol. I got their Tokyo Yatai ramen with extra noodles and an additional side of curry rice. It's a solid meal if you're by yourself. I'm not sure why it's called Yatai but I understand that word is associated with those shop stands that cook food on the side walks. I'm a big fan of food stalls so this bowl of ramen gave me those kind of vibes. I loved it. It was well balanced and the noodles were delicious! The side of curry was delicious too! I'd definitely come back here regardless of what's going on at Shinsengumi next time!

Staff were super attentive and kind. Got the dip ramen (aka tsukemen) in regular size. The portion is just right. Noodles are thick and chewy. The dipping broth is so well flavored and goes amazing when dipped with the noodles. I liked the broth so much I tried it on its own, but it was too salty and not meant to be used for drinking. The ramen came with half an egg, and a slice of chashu. Egg was perfect- not too runny or cooked. Chashu was tender. Really loved this and will definitely come get it again. Fried rice side- really flavorful and tasty. It had some meat pieces and fishcake pieces inside. Gyoza - got the kurobuta and garlic flavor. Unfortunately this fell short of my expectations as the top of the skin wasn't crispy at all. The filling was juicy, but had a bit too much ginger taste to it.

The food was actually quite good. We both had a bowl of the Black Devil ramen at a spice level of 4. I was worried that this would be too much but it was actually a very manageable level of spice. The type of spice where I can still enjoy my food and not have to worry about eating it through hiccups or anything like that. I also had a side of the spicy katsu cutlet, which I also enjoyed very much. They brought me one big piece of chicken katsu and some scissors to cut it up, which I thought was neat. But every bite I had was wonderful, as it was clearly fried to perfection. The service was also on point and our server even let us try some of their devil sauce ( I do not remember if this was what it was called but it sure was spicy). A few drops of this in my bowl of ramen and I began to sweat profusely. She said barely anyone ever orders it and I can totally see why haha.
