Don't waste you money!! We are her yesterday. It was a horrible experience. First off, the waitress was slow and rude. It wasn't even busy. My mom order a chicken taco.i ordered a meat taco. My mom's taco didn't look or taste like chicken. We ask for a new taco because it tasted like meat. The waitress didn't even look and said that was meat. There was no cheese barely any lettuce. Was really looking forward to this place, as I love Mexican food. I will say ambiance is pretty great and spacious. Bar is beautiful. Loved the atmosphere and low light features. Music was good that played and not overly loud. Drinks weren't my favorite, but my cousin loved her margarita. Chips and salsa were overly salted. Enchiladas and fajitas were ordered and I enjoyed it other than the steak being fatty and lacking flavor overall. I expected more flavor in the enchiladas sauce, and it was barely warm. Rice tasted bland and simple, same with the beans. Service was ok, nothing to stand out or make it amazing. This place is yummy!! I LOVED the carne asada fries. They were soooo good. The carnitas soft tacos needed some salt for sure. They didn't seem to have much flavour. After I added some salt and salsa they were much better. Other than that everyone else really enjoyed their meals! I loved all of the decor and the patio seating is so nice! The ambiance is really nice. The service really wasn't too good. Our server took our food order an hour after we were seated, and took another 30 minutes to get the food. Maybe just an off day? Our waters were never refilled after asking a few times. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it was an off day....but not great service unfortunately. I would come back again to try it again as the food is pretty good and I loved the coconut margarita! Be prepared to spend some $$$ as usually Mexican restaurants are not this pricy. read more

Had lunch here on Tuesday. Parking was easy. Nice ambiance, but with more customers, it did get loud. Host/hostess, servers were all very nice and friendly. The salsa is served warm-- first time ever had warm salsa! -- and the chips were good but a little oily. Halibut tacos were delicious and the salad with chicken was fine but needed more chicken. :) The flan was perfect: smooth, creamy, tasty, dense. We'd return. read more

Took the family for Sunday lunch around 2pm. It looked busy and because we brought our dog, we were sat outside and it was great. My dad is a big fan of molcajetes when we eat at Mexican restaurants in Santa Ana and let me tell you, he loved it here. I usually order queso fundido everywhere also and it did not disappoint. First visit here, beautiful atmosphere and music. As we enter all the servers welcomed us, our server, Alberto, was very nice and attentive to our needs. 3.5 stars rounding up. Beautiful ambience and packed as heck at 6pm on a Saturday night, this is the hot spot for North San Clemente. Even though the place is packed, we had a reservation for six of us so they sat us immediately. We had great service with Katie, the perfect combo between helpful and not annoying. She went on break for 20 minutes in the middle and some guy was helping us and literally checked on us like 20 times and tried to take our plates halfway through our meal. It was obnoxious and definitely brought the service down to a quick diner from a higher end restaurant. To me the meal felt rushed. Right after the appetizers they piled the food on. We were done eating 40 minute after we sat. For. $225 meal it was not relaxed and enjoyable. Jalapeño bacon wrapped dealys were so darn good especially dipped in the raspberry jam. The guac was nothing special, but we loved the chips and salsa. The awesome house salad was that, awesome! And the chicken tortilla soup was underwhelming and overly spicy. Entrées were pricey, but priced right for what you got. We got the Carne Asada dinner which came out cold. Which for $37 it wasn't something I would order again. Solid 6oz piece of carne, rice, beans and handmade tortillas. But besides the tortillas it was luke warm. Good but not amazing. The filet mignon and crab enchiladas 's were incredible. I mean they should be for $30 but they were very good. I would recommend those and the crispy short rib tacos, all of it was really solid. We are moving to SC is a year and i CANNOT wait, i love the beach lifestyle, relaxed vibes, great waves and local spots. We will be back in the future I am sure. read more

Went for lunch a few weekends ago with a friend. I had a mocktail margarita and she had the real thing. She orded queso and I snacked on the chips and salsa, I got the three tacos and she hit the asada fries. My mocktail was okay, it was very watery but not bad. My tacos sadly were also okay- the meat was very dry which made it hard to chew. Flavor was good. The chips were fantastic! She liked her asada fries as well. I like the patio here, nice breeze and a little almost ocean view. Staff were nice and not upset that we stayed and chatted long after our meal as we hadn't seen each other in over 10 years. Great reviews for this place so we were excited. Started great - our table was ready at the appointed time and the menu tempting. And then downhill... The queso fundido must have broke before coming out, as it was mealy. The proteins for all dishes were dry, perhaps overcooked. The service was lacking. The wrong tortillas came out, we were not checked on. Had to flag down the server for more water, and didn't get to him fast enough to get another round of drinks. But today was a last draw. 1) there are flies that have to be swat off, constantly. .2) ordered a Mexican Cobb thinking it was a safe choice (wrong idea). The salad consisted of several (10+) END pieces of Romaine. Not hearts end as in just above the root (bitter root) and several brown/red pieces. You know the parts you put in the compose. Here's the clenched.. the 'manager' at the bequest of the server comes to the table and in a very LOUD tone justifies the salad, and says in a load tone she will speak to the kitchen. I was wanting to try out a Mexican food restaurant when in California so we picked out Asada Cantina & Kitchen. We went here for lunch & it was SO GOOD! On Sundays they serve brunch until 3pm so my boyfriend ordered the chilaquiles. He said these were the best chilaquiles he's ever had. I told him to order the eggs over medium. He said they were still good but not as yolks as he wanted. Likely next time he would order them over easy though for some gooey egg yolk. I ordered a traditional hand shaken margarita. It was really good & a reminder that we were not in Utah anymore! The cup this came in was so cute as well. For lunch I ordered the Cheese enchiladas with the roasted tomatillo sauce instead of the spicy ranchero sauce. I loved this green tomatillo sauce! It had really good flavor. The cheese enchiladas were cooked to perfection. The rice said it was a cilantro rice so I was a little worried because I don't love cilantro, but it wasn't very cilantro like at all, which I appreciated. We loved the chips that came out with the chips & salsa. My boyfriend loved the salsa but I wished it was more tomatoey. It was kind of too spicy for me as well. At the end of your meal, they bring you a warm cloth to wipe your hands off with. It was so refreshing. Service was great & we loved the atmosphere here! Asada Cantina is in the San Clemente Outlets. There's plenty of parking. We came here to celebrate a birthday so we came with a party of 14 people. Even with reservations, it took some time to get seated. And the waiting area is right next to the restrooms which I feel was poorly designed. The restaurant is aesthetically appealing. There's plenty of seating areas with plenty of servers to accommodate their customers. I want to say their customer service is this restaurant's best attribute. I've read that they take pride in their food and the quality. Growing up in SoCal and have eaten at plenty of Mexican restaurants, Asada just doesn't cut it for me. I appreciated the complimentary chips and salsa - that was addicting for the kids. As for our order: 1. We had to send the margarita back; it was lacking in a lot of things. We actually asked for them to take it off the bill 2. We were not a fan of the chicken tortilla soup 3. The crispy asada was not crispy 4. The rolled chicken taquitos were soggy 5. The al pastor in my burrito was too fatty 6. There was nothing special with the deep fried ice cream After reading some of the previous reviews, I really doubt the manager will have any empathy other than "we are not the best fit". With so many Mexican restaurant options in SoCal, I am most confident there is a better fit to fill my Mexican food cravings. read more
