A perfect way to end a weekend. We did not have reservations so we waited 30 minutes. The manager came to our rescue in 30 minutes. We were headed outside to the patio with 2 fresh glasses of water. We forgot to ask for lemon. I had the asado bowl with jasmine rice, black beans and grilled chicken. Also, I had pasta salad on the side. Wife had grilled shrimp with bread. The meal was flavorful but not hot. My wife enjoyed the honey I'm home. Shrimp was defined and grilled to perfection. The piece de resistance was the chocolate mouse cake. My only disappointment was no michelob ultra. We will be back for dinner. It is a prime dinner menu. I'm here for it!

Went out for a friend's birthday as a table of 9 and the server was very accommodating and had everything right! As a vegetarian I didn't think this would be a great pick for me but the appetizers (vegetable plate, focaccia) and meal (Asado bowl) I had were delicious and every element was flavorful! Cocktails are delicious too, I had a perfect Hugo spritz! We preordered a tomahawk steak for the table and it truly was an experience. I of course didn't eat it but everyone raved about it. Views outside are amazing too, right along the river. I highly recommend for a fancy night out!

The food is spectacular we started withe the broccoli cheddar/potato soup. And then the steak and gorgonzola sandwich. Service from Stephanie is always amazing. When she is not here we ask for Rose or Matthew but they are all great. The ambiance is somewhat casual at lunch time. Highly suggest specialty drinks as the bartenders are amazing. And don't forget the shop to take to go items The potato salad and the manchego cheese with chimichurri is great for a snack at night.

Literally one of my favorite meals ever. Appetizer: Sesame Ginger Beef Tips. Tender, savory, with that perfect sweet ginger kick. The sauce is perfect for dipping. Main: Braised Short Ribs with the enhancement Asado Magnifico. Rich, fall off the bone perfection! And let's talk about the bread. A must. Warm, soft, and paired with the best butter. I could have made a meal out of that alone. Nash made the whole night even better with amazing service

Amazing spot! Make sure to make a reservation. The food was amazing. We tried their smoked fish dip and special dish- smoked chicken, shrimps in a pineapple. Place itself has a great ambiance located right next to the river facing magnificent marshes.

Asado Life was the perfect Saturday lunch spot. My husband and I went in with high hopes...and left very full and very happy. We both ordered the Asado Trio (steak, chicken, and sausage) and wow. The steak was cooked perfectly... juicy, flavorful, no notes. The sausage was packed with flavor and honestly might've been my favorite bite. And the chicken? I almost never order chicken when I'm out, but this completely changed my mind. Perfectly seasoned, super tender, and genuinely delicious. Did not expect that. We had side Caesar salads and I have to mention the crushed croutons because they deserve their moment. Crunch in every bite and no awkwardly large crouton situation. Cocktails were great, service was friendly and on point, and the ambiance really seals the deal. Add a water view and it's the kind of place you want to sit, sip, and not rush through your meal. All around, a solid win. Top level quality that consistently delivers. We'll definitely be back, and I'm already thinking about that trio again.

I'm so glad I gave Asado Life another shot! My first visit wasn't the best, but this time around, I found much better menu options that really showcased what they can do. I tried the Asado Bowl with chicken and it was fantastic--the flavors were spot on. My husband went with the Smash Burger and loved it. The restaurant was absolutely packed at noon, so I'd highly recommend making a reservation. Even with the lunch rush, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. A great lunch overall!

I'm aware this spot is a fan favorite among many locals, and I can definitely see why. I've been here for lunch before but I usually judge a place by the second visit--so my wife and I came in on a Thursday night for a date night. Upon arrival, there was no one at the host stand, and we waited about three minutes before being greeted. Once the hostess arrived, she was very sweet and welcoming. The atmosphere is excellent--classy, clean, and smooth--with beautiful water views that really elevate the experience. Our server, Alex, along with her team, was outstanding. Attentive, professional, and genuinely pleasant throughout the night. Up to this point, everything felt like a 5-star experience. Then came the food. We started with a Caesar salad to share. The portion was great, but surprisingly, it lacked flavor, it was dry and honestly one of the most tasteless Caesar salads I've had. Next were their signature-style potatoes/fries. Visually appealing, but again, they needed salt and seasoning--nothing particularly memorable beyond presentation. For my entrée, I ordered the NY strip. It was a great size, but the execution was inconsistent. I asked for medium, and while parts of the steak hit that mark, other areas were cooked medium-well to well done. On top of that, it lacked seasoning--I actually had to ask for salt. For a $65 steak, I expect it to be spot-on across the board. My wife ordered the short ribs, and that dish was exceptional; tender, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the night. To finish, we had a dessert special: vanilla bean ice cream over chocolate bread pudding. That truly saved the experience and brought the rating back up. It was outstanding. Overall, I'd give this place 4 stars. The service, ambiance, and certain dishes were excellent, but the lack of consistency and seasoning in key items held it back from a full 5-star experience. I'll definitely be back, but when visiting a place known for its culinary reputation, I expect everything to hit at that level.

'Asado' which means either barbecue or roast in Español very well fits this awesome new spot we visited for dinner last night as we had great drinks such as the Gingerbread Old Fashioned and the Witch Brew that was perfect for the cold evening. The appetizers are delicious, the Chorizo Pan and the Sriracha Shrimp was so good, that we did empty the plates as the seasoning was well prepared. For the main course, we had the Asado Trio for less than $40 and it is a combination of Lean Steak, Sausage. Chicken and servings of potatoes and veggies. This reminded me of my traveling days in Argentina as the meats and spices are prepared like this and yep, everything was finished, Burp! Muchas Gracias to our server Nick for the recommendations and to the rest of the crew for the lovely evening. We will definitely be back to try the lunch menu! Also, the view from this place is nice, away from the touristy spot of St. Augustine, plus you can walk around and bring your dogs here as they are very pet-friendly. Oh yeah, they have a market too and alcohol-tasting rooms that can be reserved for guests :)

Love!!! Came a bit before our table was ready and sat at the bar for a drink. The bartender was very social and polite. Loved that the outside seating was right on the water, it really set a nice vibe. Perfect place to go when the weathers nice!

We visited this restaurant back in May and just grabbed a seat at the bar for apps and cocktails. We had such a great experience we couldn't wait to come back this December for dinner to celebrate my birthday and the holidays. We are still puzzled as to why this restaurant isn't rated higher. The restaurant is gorgeous with beautiful views and inviting decor. The cocktails are perfectly executed and the wine list really compliments their menu. Our server was excellent. He was very attentive and had a friendly and fun demeanor. We started with the miso steak appetizer. The actual name escapes me but it is a flavor I will forever chase. It was creative and bright and truly started the meal off splendidly. My husband and I split the porterhouse (pictured) and it was presented as a perfect medium rare. The broccolini and carrots were delicious as well and complimented our steak nicely. This is definitely one of our favorite all time restaurants. We will continue to return anytime we visit the area.

I had been wanting to visit Asado Life for awhile, so when I booked a weekend in St Aug this was our first stop for dinner! Loved that on Sundays they serve a special lunch menu all day so prices were quite reasonable, like entrees about $20! Craft beers for $4! What!? Awesome! We got the asado trio, which highlights their grilled meats: steak, chicken and house made sausage served with potato salad and a house salad, excellent! All were good, loved the grilled chicken thigh. Also tried the fried stuffed poblano pepper, with steak, rice and beans. Flavor explosion and that cheese stuffed pepper might have been my favorite bite of the weekend! Service was great, restaurant beautiful! Right on the water!

The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

It was a pretty cold and uncomfortable welcome. That said, the restaurant is absolutely charming. I really loved the interior ambiance--it's cozy, well-decorated, and has a very pleasant vibe. The food was extremely delicious. We ordered the Half Pound Ice Plant Burger and it was juicy, fresh, and packed with flavor. You could taste the quality in every single bite--the meat was perfect, the ingredients fresh, and everything very well balanced. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had recently. Despite the initial host experience, I would return without hesitation for the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended, but they could improve the initial greeting.

Each time we've visited we have had wonderful experiences. Everyone is always a joy to interact with. Lexi had a large group during our first visit and then just the two of us the second time. Both times we walked out with our favorite spirits and some new ones. The peanut butter whiskey is always a staple and this one is my favorite. We now have a new addition to our must-have collection, mango datil whiskey. I dont even mix these with anything as they are incredibly smooth. Can you? Sure. But why? The spirits also change out and I'm a little sad that the cookie dough whiskey will become seasonal (that one did mix well with the peanut butter and caramel). But the new key lime pie rum was delicious and the coconut rum is another favorite. Was there anything we didn't like? I am not a fan of the roasted pecan whiskey but I can appreciate why others will enjoy it. In our tasting, Lexi swapped that one out for me so I didn't miss out. The care and joy the team has is palpable and a must stop when visiting the St Augustine area. Big fan and we now stop by multiple times each visit to sample and take home our favorites. Im excited to try the new rye whiskey on a future visit. One thing to keep in mind is that the tasting used to be free and now costs $5. Personally, I don't mind since there is a $5 coupon to use in the store that can be stacked so it becomes essentially free but it's a relatively recent change (the same applies to the nearby St Augustine Distillery and San Sebastian Winery). Do I wish that this one was still free? Of course. Will it stop me from visiting? Nope. It just breaks up my purchases so I can apply the cost each time. (And it's much better than the winery which gives you a plastic cup...nice but not really repeatable.) Overall, City Gate continues to be my favorite Distillery for flavored spirits. Thanks for always providing a great experience and product! And thank you to Lexi for being awesome!
