This is hands down one of my favorite hidden gems in St. Augustine! Asado Life deserves way more recognition than it gets. The food is consistently top-notch--flavorful, fresh, and made with obvious care. While we always go for the steak (it's hard not to!), everything we've tried has been amazing--from handcrafted cocktails to gourmet sandwiches and thoughtful entrees. But what really sets Asado Life apart is the ambiance. The entire experience feels intentionally curated--relaxed yet elevated. Dining is outdoors along the beautiful San Sebastian River, with string lights overhead, a warm fire pit glowing nearby, and the sounds of the live-fire grill in the background. It feels cozy, romantic, and special, whether you're there on a date night or with friends. Even when it's rained during our visits, the staff has made it seamless. They've got clear rain shields and thoughtful accommodations that keep the mood intact without sacrificing the open-air experience. What's not to like about this place. They support the bees! But besides that the food is amazing, i am still dreaming about that focaccia bread! I got the Picanha French Dip and i think my husband got the Cotija Lime Shrimp. My server was amazing, very attentive and quite funny. Also its a water front location so i highly recommend sitting outside to enjoy the views! Also if you happen to spill something on your shirt no worries you can buy a souvenir shirt in the restaurant. We decided on a little day trip to St. Augustine today and wanted to try a new to us restaurant for lunch. We made a reservation for 2pm, made good time and arrived a bit early around 1:35ish. Thankfully they sat us right away on the outdoor patio as requested. We sat unacknowledged for about 15 mins and if the weather hadn't been so beautiful we would have left. But we were trying to relax and enjoy the day and had already had a chance to review the menu so we were excited to order and get to eating. Our server, Emilio, arrived and we were eager to order. Maybe a bit too eager, my fiancé accidentally cut them off before the specials with our drink order. Not sure if that contributed to the service but it wasn't intentional and we had been waiting awhile. We knew what we wanted and put in our complete order, drinks, appetizers, and sandwiches all at once. My phone eats first so the time stamps are helpful at painting the picture. Our order (according to our receipt) was put in at 1:52. Our drinks arrived at 2:04, apps at 2:07, and sandwiches at 2:40 (which is when we asked for our check). A table that ordered after us received their food and finished before our sandwiches made it out to us. After we had finished our apps for awhile (and probably started looking around annoyed) Emilio stopped by and let us know they would check on our order. After another few mins our food came out. Not sure if the kitchen lost our order, it was mistakenly sold to another table, or what, but the lack of communication made a frustrating situation worse. Now, I do want to give props where they are due. The food was tasty! We really enjoyed the smoked fish dip and roasted pineapple appetizers. Our Al Pastor Margaritas were delicious! If we would have been asked or acknowledged again we would have loved another round. The Steak & Gorgonzola sandwich was so flavorful! My Picahna French Dip was ok. It was actually better without the au jus but I was jealous of my fiancé's dish for sure. The steak fries were well seasoned and crispy and a hit for both of us. My fiancé also forgot his debit card in the server book and thankfully since we made a reservation with open table they had my number to call and let us know. Really do appreciate the effort on their part to let us know. I'd like to believe this experience was a one off, but there are so many restaurants in St. Augustine we probably won't be back soon. Read really good things about this place so we decided to venture away from downtown to try it. We had dinner reservations but decided to come over for lunch instead. Luckily it was easy to cancel the dinner. Got a seat quick. Outside is so nice with the views of old town and the river. So many good sounding things on the menu it was hard to choose. We chose to get the Asado trio for one. It was plenty to get a taste of what they are about. Amazing! They do meat really good here. For me the chicken was the best. So tender and seasoned so well. The salad and potato salad were just as good. So good and unique. Had a couple of cocktails and wine. Everything is so good. Service was really good. Stryker was great. We dined on 2/21 to celebrate my birthday and were seated promptly at a great table on the gorgeous waterfront patio. For our meal we ordered the focaccia bread with fresh butter, the Asado trio, braised short ribs, and Filet with frites. I don't say this lightly- this was one of the most special and delicious meals we've ever shared. The focaccia is heavenly, the Asado trio is a wonderful way to sample the meats, the filet was cooked to perfection and the sauce was fantastic. The fries are on another level along with the dipping aioli. The braised short ribs BLEW ME AWAY. A few days later and I'm still thinking of my meal fondly. This is a spectacular entree, a true 10/10. I save drinking for extremely rare occasions and the margarita was very good. The cold brew martini was not up to par. After dinner there were fireworks on the water and we were able to walk down and enjoy the show and breeze. Truly the perfect end to a perfect meal. read more

Well, this was not the experience we anticipated, as we had dined here previously and had a great meal. When we first heard about the restaurant and their outdoor grill experience we wanted to try it, but we were hesitant because it is very pricey, Since it was a milestone birthday for my husband who happens to love grilled meats and veggies, we decided to splurge and invited our family to join us. The pre-tax and tip price is $30 per person more than the typical Brazilian steakhouse that offers all you can eat picanha and many other meats. This Argentine style grilled experience was not offered as all you can eat although it was advertised as eat while it lasts which is somewhat misleading. We started off with freshly baked Focaccia Bread Board app. Soft on the inside crispy on the outside just enough for the two of us and cocktails. For the Mains, we elected for the Special Yellowtail for two. Board came with crispy plantain chips, rice and beans, peppers with tomatoes and ceviche. Fish was so good and tasted fresh. I wanted to make a reservation for dinner but it was difficult online. It is prepaid and it seems for the 5 course dinner, if you reserve for 2, you cannot have 2 different entrees. I decided to do lunch instead. There was a question if we were celebrating anything and I noted that it was my birthday. However, none of the staff greeted me when we inform them of my reservation. What's the point of asking the occasion? LOL. Aside from online reservation issue, it seems that dinner is outdoor and it's summertime. I also read somewhere that there were flies everywhere, so maybe we will try dinner when the weather is cooler. The Sunday menu is very limited but I saw a huge fish on another table and was told by our server that the Yellowtail Fish is their special for the day. It's good for two and comes with rice & beans, Shrimp ceviche, fried plantains & pickled veggies. We ordered that plus their house made focaccia bread. The bread was sliced into 5 pieces and we finished them all, it was that good! As for the fish, wow, so flaky and flavorful. We were told to eat the plantains with the ceviche and it was the perfect balance of the saltiness and acidity of the ceviche and the mild sweetness of the plantains. Simply delicious! The decor is sleek and clean, and the energy is amazing! Our server was so sweet and took great care of us. We had wine, Sweet Potato Agnolotti with their fresh focaccia bread, Bronzino and a s'mores cake! Everything was 10/10, the best meal I've had in St Aug by far!! Warning: You do need to call ahead for the meat by 10am so they have time to cook! The Sweet Potato Agnolotti with the buttery focaccia was sooo delicious and warm, like a comfort food! Hubby and I had dinner at Asado Life in St. Augustine one Saturday evening and were impressed by the overall dining experience. Though I will say that this might not be for everyone. I think for what they are trying to present, it was very successful. If this is your kind of thing (dining outdoors, great food and service), it's pretty wonderful. So the outdoor space is gorgeous, but not for everyone. You are out in the elements: it might be too hot, too cold, too windy, etc... So if you are looking for more of a fine dining experience, best to opt out of seating outdoor. While we really enjoyed our food and service, we did find the bugs an issue for us. It's not much the restaurant could do... I mean, it's Florida and a warm early spring evening, there will be bugs. Some experienced patrons brought their own bug spray (soooo smart). So I'd still give it a five star review because the food was excellent (we pre-ordered/shared a tomahawk ribeye, it was delicious) and the view was indeed beautiful. The seating area is so inviting with the warm strung up lights. We loved the ambiance, just not the bugs. Next time, we'll know to bring bug spray. read more

In case of bad weathered there are clear curtains, which was great since we sat outside and there was a short rain. Full service bar. The hostess seated us in the back corner with a window view of the outside. It was really nice. I recommend eating outside if the weather is suitable to your liking. Their food was top-notch! We had the homemade bread, which reminded me of the bread over in Europe. For dinner, we had lobster ravioli, and the trio platter. The chicken was by far the best thing on the plate steak was really good and the chorizo was meh. Chorizo flavor was good, but it was dry and grainy. The server did not take care of her tables well. Come to think of it she never checked on us. Not once. I noticed long pauses when she was not in her zone. My water ran dry twice. I actually had to wave her down to get attention at our table. She took a long time to get boxes for the food and then the check and then to get the check taken care of. Found this place during our visit to St. Augustine, it's very nicely decorated and loved the view of the water. The outside bar and seating are big and spacious. Indoors has a bar as well and a good amount of seats. We arrived and outdoors was completely empty and plenty of empty tables inside however we were asked if we had reservations, which we didn't so they told us we could sit at the bar if there were seats available, which there weren't any. Went back to hostess and pointed out the amount of empty tables indoors and outside. Anyways we found a table at the bar area that was being emptied and asked to sit there and were told we couldn't bc it wasn't clean!! At this point I was ready to leave but husband was hungry so I had to sternly ask "well where CAN we sit?" It was just two of us can't imagine it's so difficult to find us a spot geez. Finally got the darn bar table and ordered their soup of the day which was a beef and vegetable soup and it was very tasty and a good size portion too. They have a dish called trio which is steak, chicken and chorizo and comes with a salad and potato salad. It was a good size portion so we shared that. I really like the location, decor and food was ok, not amazing. I'd definitely come back and give it another try perhaps order something else on the menu and MAKE RESERVATIONS for sure! A friend told me about this place and I wasn't familiar with the location. But, the concept seemed pretty cool. The menu is simple- everyone gets the same appetizers, veggies, and desserts. The salad course offers an option between caesar or house. The fun comes in with regard to the entree. The main courses include the asado trio (chimichurri chicken, chorizo sausage, picanha), tomahawk, seafood, lamb duo, pork chop, or vegetarian. On my first visit, we got the asado trio and on my second visit, we got the tomahawk. The meats were delicious! We loved watching the grill master cook and we could taste the time and attention that went into the preparation of the entrees. Portions were large, particularly the tomahawk. We, along with the other patrons around us, packed up the rest of the steak and took it to go. The atmosphere here is laid back and inviting. You can't beat the water views with the smell of meat grilling in the air! It seems that rain or sun, they use the outdoor seating as the second time visiting it was during a monsoon and they still had the dinner outdoors. Thankfully, the area is big enough so none of us got wet. In addition to the outdoor dining space, there's a very nice indoor dining room with a bar. I hope to attend one of their chef's tables or a nice lunch inside to try those experiences as well. read more

Walking into this place is very inviting, with nice decor. There is a bar inside once you walk in. And if you prefer to eat outside, they have 2 dining option, one exclusive and one of a Gaucho style flare. And yes, there is also a bar outside as well. From what I was told, Asado Life is a scratch kitchen, which I am a big fan of. Foods seems to taste way better when made from scratch. The fresher, the better. Their menu is not too complicated and straightforward. Food impressions - Asado Trio (5/5): I really like the flavors of all three meats, the steak, the chorizo and the chicken. - BBLT Sandwich (4/5) This sandwich was just okay to me. Even though the bread was made fresh, I felt it overpowered the sandwich concept, which was "where is the bacon or lack of". I could hear the bacon crying "Dufuq Bro, I am the star of this sandwich, not you Mr Bread". Secondly, even the veggies overpowered the bacon. We all know folks that when it comes BLT, the Bacon is KING of the sandwich - Side House Salad (5/5): Perhaps one of the best I've ever eaten had in my life. It was nice and so fresh. The dressing was fabulous. I could eat a few more of these bowls. Deeeelicious. - Potato Salad (3/5) This was the side choice that came with the Asado Trio. The potato salad was abit on the bland side for me and even though it came with sweet drop peppers which I am told would liven up the flavor. It did to a small degree but not enough to wow my palate. Lastly, a 5 STAR service for Ashley for a great service. All in all, this is a nice place for date night or to bring groups of friends to join you. I plan to come here again to experience the nightlife or the weekend night vibes. A nice place also if you just wanna grab a drink and head out to the lower deck where he can just sit and chill. I had heard about this restaurant for a while, and finally got there last night with a large party. I had the prime sirloin strip with french fries and a duck butter reduction. Probably one of the best pieces of perfectly grilled meat I've ever had in my life. Shared a salad, which was outstanding. Everybody in our party enjoyed their meat entrées, all requested temperatures of the individual meats prepared perfectly. You probably need GPS to find a restaurant, but once there the view of the inland channel and the marinas around, spectacular view. Staff was super attentive. The male bathroom was beautiful.
