Came here for my friend's birthday dinner and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. The waitstaff were personable, on top of re-fills, and quick to notice and discreetly confirm this was a birthday celebration. One star off because the kitchen seemed to be behind on the timing of orders. I'm not sure if this was a short staffing issue, if it was unexpectedly busy tonight, or what happened...but it took 45 minutes for bread to come, and about 2 hours for the rest of the meal. Reservations were for 6.45pm and plates came to the table around 8.30pm; it was about 10pm when we left. While I understand fine dining is meant to be leisurely, I think the wait was unreasonable as the meal did not begin until almost an hour into sitting down, and most of us were already on our second drink by the time any food arrived. Fortunately I did not have time restrictions tonight, but other guests in my party had to rush off mid-meal due to childcare. I hope the restaurant considers its patrons' time more conscientiously and communicates any delays in the future. read more

I came here yesterday for a birthday dinner that my amazing boyfriend surprised me with--and wow, I was this close to heading back to the kitchen to personally thank the chef! Every single dish was a knockout, from the starters all the way to dessert. Let's talk about that grilled sourdough--who knew sourdough could be that good? And the empanadas? Just bursting with flavor. For my entrée, I had the Chicken Milanese. It looked simple at first glance, but don't be fooled--it was light, crispy, and totally addictive. My boyfriend went with the braised lamb, and it was fall-off-the-bone tender, rich, and absolutely delicious. To top it all off, I had the Crème Brûlée, and it sealed the night perfectly. Asado was so amazing for so long. I understand that things need to change sometimes but I also understand, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Asado was a favorite of ours for years. Many special dinners and celebrations were had within the walls there. When updates to the menu were made, it seems like much more than that changed and it hasn't been the same since. A few months ago we went and everything was 'off' nothing like it used to be. Service and food were both subpar. Knowing how many wonderful meals we've had there we gave them the benefit of the doubt, everyone/everywhere has bad nights. Unfortunately, we went back tonight and were shocked to find the restaurant nearly empty. We got a table in the bar so my husband could keep an eye on the basketball game. and while service was better it wasn't great, food was dropped off by someone who said not a word, literally dropped plates and walked away, and food was good but not the standout it once was, drink was also pretty awful. So sad to see such a shining star of a place in Tacoma fall so far. Seeing almost empty on a Saturday night confirmed it's not just us that has noticed such sad changes to the place. read more

The service was very good, the salads and bread offering was good as well the King Salmon dish was done nicely. The steak, this is where it didn't live up to what I expected from everything I had heard. It was just over cooked past the medium but that was ok, however the disappointment came from the tough to cut, it was not the tender meat I was expecting from the Lomo steak. The polenta was kind of dry and just warm and almost set up hard, not the creamy side that was told to me by the server. Outside of seeing people use their phones to read the menu as it was dark, the atmosphere was comfortable. Would we return, the jury is still out. read more

I hadn't been here for about 5-6 years but my boyfriend and I went last night. We ate at the bar. Bartender was friendly and attentive. We started with the spicy Diablo martinis. I like the spice, but it had a kind of sour pineapple flavor that I didn't love. We switched to bourbon after that. For dinner, I went out on a limb and got a pork chop with this really delicious sauce and fingerling potatoes. It was really good. My boyfriend got a chimichurrie steak of some sort with the same potatoes. He also said it was good. No room for dessert. It was a good meal and we'll be back. read more

My hubby and I decided to return to Asado's after about 10yrs. The lighting was so dim But the seating arrangement was good. I remember it being much more crowded so that is definitely an improvement. Service was good. Staff was nice and our server was helpful in recommending our entrees. I had the lamb to try something new but the natural gamey taste was not for me. The sides it came with were good. Hubby ordered the pork. His was well seasoned and flavorful. Then last came the dessert. It was something of a wonton wrapped and deep fried apple dumpling with ice cream. Yummy and it was a HUGE serving!! We will definitely return. read more

Food is good. Bar staff is always great! But, we have to say that for the past three months, the greeter is getting odder and odder. For a restaurant that costs approximately $75 a person, I wouldn't expect them to be wearing crop tops with stomach showing, fox tails hanging from their collar or 6 inch high shoes. I'm blown away that Asado doesn't have a five star rating, because my experience there was worth all the stars. We asked our lovely server Kate for recommendations and she did not disappoint. Everything was INCREDIBLE. The combination of flavors was creative and robust without being overpowering. My favorite dish of the evening was the pork chop with chimmichuri and polenta although it was almost bested by the dulce de leche creme brulee, because it was just that good. Highly recommend Asado if you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion. The Argentine-themed steakhouse offers great service, a warm ambiance, and a great wine list and seasonal cocktails! The Appetizers: I recommend the Vegetarian Empanadas, with roasted seasonal vegetables, jalapeño pesto, onion, goat and provolone cheese. Crispy crust on the outside, and accompanied with chimichurri sauce. The Entree: I recommend the Lomo, a tenderloin steak with Rosemary Fig Demi. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was perfect. We stopped by for a bite to eat before catching a show at jazzbones. Reservations were fully booked so we sat at the bar...the bartenders were friendly and offered great service. We tried one of the seasonal drinks - the "inside job"and also the diablo martini. I really enjoyed the diablo martini because of the spice level. For food we had the ceviche, which was served with plantain chips. I've never had it served like this before. Straight. Delicious. We also tried the Queso Frito. The combination of cheeses used made it mesh perfectly. Finally we shared a plate of Pollo Frito fettuccine - I've never had fettuccine with this type of twist to it but it was delicious! read more

Food is a Five but with significant price increases can't justify more than a 4. I had the stuffed pork chop and as always perfectly cooked and flavorful as was the Lamb shank and Tenderloin. The calamari was tender and the Ceviche refreshing with crispy plantains. Service was great and wide assortment of wines. But this used to be a really amazing place that also didn't price you out of your means. Unfortunately those who need to be more budget conscious may need to look elsewhere. Covid has hit restaurants hard with staffing, suppliers and food costs. So it is understandable that prices need to rise. Still one of my favorites in Tacoma area. The bread and butter is really good. It's a butter mixed with something tasty and some balsamic vinaigrette. A classic but always good. I always go for the parilla mixta. There is ample seasoning in all of it and it's tasty. Polenta or purple potatoes are both a solid choice. Every time I come here, the service is always great. The water fillers are on top of it and they quickly take away empty plates. Zero complaints on the service. My little one was fascinated with there being a garage door that opened to the street. Honestly, every time I come here, it feels like it goes a little more downhill from the first visit. The service and drinks are always solid, no complaints there. This time, the kitchen switched things up with an Italian menu (normally it's an Argentinian steakhouse fusion), so we figured we'd give it a shot. The Tajarin (not expecting Spinasse) tasted like boxed pasta, and the beef cheek (their play on short rib) just wasn't it. Absolutely fabulous! I got the ribeye and it was delicious and had chimichurri all over it! The Chilean sea bass was also delightful and I highly recommend it! Great food and great service. Tiffani was our server, she gave us some recommendations since this was our first visit. The rib steak was super yummy along with the Brussels sprouts. The calamari wasn't that special. The complimentary bread service was ok, it seemed burnt but the butter and oil vinegar was a nice touch. This is hands down the absolute best steak I've ever had in my life ! I had the sirloin it was extremely flavorful and cooked perfectly the texture was great. I get it's chorizo but I couldn't finish it being so spicy. Our meal took about an hour to get out. So when the waiter offered dessert. We didn't order any because we didn't want to wait any longer. However the waitress admitted that they were short staffed and since we waited patiently she was going to comp our dessert. So we ordered the cheesecake to go. And it didn't disappoint. If I could give it more stars I would. I dunno why it's taken us so long to try Asado. Came on a packed Friday at 7pm and still managed to get in without a reservation. Wowza. The bread and butter was amazing. Like lick off your partner good. Ya know if you're into that. Both entrees were phenomenal. Had the Stuffed Chicken Breast and the Seared Halibut . We also had the lentils, and I never knew lentils were this amazing. All of it was wonderful. For portions as large as they were I thought these prices were beyond reasonable. We've def paid way more at places comparable and gotten way less food. Ambiance begins when you enter and are immediately immersed into what smells amazing. The aromas coming from the kitchen are absolutely incredible. It's what you wished your kitchen smelt like every time you cooked. read more

Food was sooo good! We shared the queso which came out bubbly and delicious- the blue cheese mixed in leveled up that queso! I had a few cocktails which were perfect. Slightly annoyed with the the lady at the front because we did make a reservation beforehand and she was seating us all the way in the back next to the kitchen when there were plenty of other open spots. We asked if we could be seated in their outdoor patio area or close to it atleast and she said since we had a reservation a server was already picked out for us .... Which somewhat makes sense to me but why couldn't you place someone whose a walk in with that server and allow us (who did make a reservation) to sit where we wanted. Literally two mins later a couple who didn't make a reservation walk in (I overheard) and they get seated at the exact table we wanted and asked for. Okay. A little hard to not take that personally. But okay. Jokes on her though because our server was amazing. Food was great too. Just wish the person in the front was more accommodating and less rude. read more

Extremely disappointed. I was told to leave a 20% tip and begrudgingly did, nothing about tonight deserved a 20% tip. Nothing. Service was horrible. Severe lack of attention and this was on a Wednesday, WTH does a weekend look like? Entrees took an hour and the pork loin my spouse ordered came out medium well. I cringed looking at it. It was as white as this backdrop on Yelp. Never received a check back on how anything was until we were almost done, We were celebrating a graduation and could not get anyone to discuss any of the desserts as we sat there for 20 minutes afterwards.
