I have to preface this review with the fact that I am a vegetarian who went to a steakhouse. What can I say.... I have a lot of meat-eating friends who wanted to try Asado. They seemed to enjoy their meals. One of them said it deserves three and a half stars. This being said, we are in the Pacific Northwest and a fish option without red meat included seems like a reasonable request. There was not one, unfortunately. There is actually only one vegetarian option on this menu. It was ok, at best. It was literally a stuffed chili, a tomato with a small amount of quinoa, and a few shaved corn kernels. It sounded good, however was priced as same as many of the meat dishes. If this was at all hearty, the price point could be justified. Plain and simple, not worth the money. On top of that, we ordered the sangria, which was fantastic. When the second round came, the glass was much, much smaller and we were charged the same amount. First glass was worth $10.00, second glass at half the size, was definitely not. It also took an extremely long time for drinks to be delivered to the table after ordering. My friends enjoyed their steaks very much which is the reason for the three star rating. Otherwise I found it to be overpriced without "something for everyone" as advertised online. read more

Went to Asado as part of a party of six including a 97 year old. My brother thinks Asado is the best restaurant in Tacoma at the moment. We were able to order and share a mixed grill with appetizers and sides for the table. The wine steward also hooked us up with a really nice Malbec to go with. The food and wine were excellent. I didn't have anything I didn't like, and the quantities were perfect. We were there on a Saturday night, and our reservations were for 5 p.m. because the later slots were sold out by the time we called. It was very loud in the restaurant. Too loud to actually follow a conversation at the table or with the wait staff. I'm sensing a pattern here. This is the second time this year I've gone with a group to an expensive restaurant with a full bar and not been able to have a dinner conversation. Asado and the other place, 99 Park in Bellevue, have the same setup: full bar and restaurant with no separation between the two, hard floors, walls and ceiling with no attempt at noise abatement, and no quiet place to be found in the restaurant. I can only think that the noise level is part of the aspirational ambience. I'll most likely leave these places to younger people. read more

I took a good friend for Dinner, without reservations, to Asado Cucina Argentina. This is restaurant that I have enjoyed in the past many times. The both of us really loved their flat iron steak with the purple potatoes. This evening, as always in the past, we were walk-ins. This time they was standing room only. So they asked for my name and promised to call if a no show happened. Well they lived up to the call with a vacant table and we ran back for what we hoped would be a couple of their delicious flat iron steaks. We ordered a couple of cups of coffee which we enjoyed and relaxed a bit before ordering, afterall it was Friday night. Our waitress was delightful and entertaining with a very good sense of humor even as busy as she was. Well it was time to order our dinner and by now it was 9:20+- and we were both very hungry. The steaks were ordered and in a short time showed up at the table. Both steaks were looking good and presented as good as it gets. Well that's where dinner hit the wall. My friends steak was cooked a little red, but acceptable and definately tasty. She embarked on her dinner with enjoyment and there sitting across the table was me. 1st of all my steak was blood rare, instead of medium rare. That I could live with if the steak was tender and chewable. I was only able to get a sidways slice out of the steak without applying all my strength into cutting the gristle The gristle circled the entire steak around 1/4 inside the circumcerence. I asked for assistance in getting another steak and noted that it was also too rare, so if they were going to replace the steak please cook it correctly. A man apparently either the owner, or manager handled the customer service involved with this un-eatable steak, My friend was just finishing her dinner when my steak showed up. We it was also blood rare and by that time I was not going to ruin the rest of my evening by making a big deal out of my dinner. After all I had eaten a salad and my friend left half her steak un-touched. Smaller appetite. They took the charge for the steak off my bill and didn't even offer to buy the coffee. I was dissappointed over this entire event and will not be returning. Everyone can make a mistake, but in a restaurant you are usually rewarded for your trouble in one fashion, or another. First time eating at Asado, heard nothing but great things before coming. After scheduling my reservation on Open Table the night before, I later received an email saying "the restaurant had canceled my reservation". I then called the restaurant to find out why and what had happened to my reservation, they told me they were unsure but they could get me in, an hour later than i had originally planned. I took the reservation still looking forward to my meal. I got to the restaurant about five minutes early, took advantage of the valet parking, and went in to claim my table. The hostess said they were running behind but it should only be about 20 minutes more. 40 minutes later I was finally seated and placed my order fairly quickly. An hour and a half later our food finally came. (Note that ever table around us had arrived after and been served before) I had been watching the restaurant and saw the salad I ordered had been sitting waiting to be served for 30 minutes. The food was good aside from my wilted, warm, salad. Terrible service though. read more

I just got back from having dinner with my two children. It was my birthday dinner. We made a reservation and noted it was my birthday. The waitress we had was either over worked and shouldn't be a waitress. We received our bread, water, etc., and she took our salad order and left without taking our dinner orders. We waited a good half hour for our salad. When she delivered the salads she left again without taking our dinner orders. We ate the salad, dishes were cleared and she walked by our table at least 3 times without stopping to take our order. By this time, we'd been there an hour. She finally came over and took our dinner order. It came fairly quickly compared to the rest of the evening. We ordered dessert, cherry cobbler. It was not good. Made with Bing cherries instead of pie cherries. And nothing was offered to me for my birthday, a free dessert, nothing. The manager was roaming the restaurant and he helped us out a couple times and was very nice, but we were thoroughly unimpressed with the waitress. The bill came without delay though. A bad experience and the whole birthday dinner even was spoiled for the lack of service. read more

They don't need another spectacular review but I can't keep it to myself. First, we are pretty picky but not OCD and impossible to please. We didn't plan to end up at Asado but my husband heard great things about it and we were driving by. We were fit in since we didn't have reservations ans started by waiting at the bar. Husband had a nice sangria and I had a wonderful Pom Drop. The lamb spring rolls were excellent and so was the wedge salad we shared. Husband had a steak with fig sauce and I had the free-range chicken wrapped in serrano. If my eyes roll back and I can't help the "mmnnn's!" then the food is incredible and this is what happened. I was not as fond of what my husband had but I am not a steak person in general. I loved the smoky serrano ham on the chicken and it was sitting in creamy polenta and a mild sort of tomato/pico de gallo. Heavenly! I could not finish it or fit dessert in. We will definitely go back! read more

As far as food goes, five stars all the way! Empanada sampler was delicious. I had the parilla trio with lentils (all was amazing). I would strongly recommend the lentils over the purple mashed potatoes. My starter/side salad was way overpriced, so I will skip that next time. The food here is amazing, and our server was very nice. The food came out very slow, though...we didn't mind too much because we were celebrating our anniversary and were enjoying our bottle of wine and good conversation. (It would be much more noticeable though if we were really really hungry.) Server comped a dessert for the special occasion. Biggest complaint is that my husband made a special request for flowers when he made the reservation and this request was not even acknowledged. (I would have given this restaurant 5 stars if not for the slow service and not acknowledging the flowers request.) Otherwise, we will definitely be back and really enjoyed the experience. read more

we had a nice dinner here with friends after a several year absence as the food always seemed over salted. everything we ordered was delicious albeit all on the salty side still! ceviche calamari( soo salty and soggy) butter wedge salad and sea bass chorizo etc. the other female in our group could not finish her entree due to it being over salted. awesome waitress very sweet and of course nice atmosphere just wish they would cut down the salt so minus a star there. however 5 star creme brûlée! and agreed with previous reviewer... the hostess could have been a tad warmer. anyway solid 3 1/2 stars over all but bumped up becuz of our great waitress ;{} read more

We were recommended to try this from a friend and we love it! Are steaks have always come out perfectly and my husband and I usually split the Lomo 12oz. It's super lean and flavorful and probably the most tender piece of meat we've ever tried. We have some weird flavors we're not fond of, specifically pepper. I know it's s little odd but even without seasoning and the sauces on the side the steak tastes amazing. The calamari and the empanadas are also very tasty. The only complaint we have is that every time we order extra sides they seem to get forgotten, not a huge deal but it's happened every time we've been in. We try to be understanding because we throw a lot of modifications at them and that can be time consuming though and a few times they've comped the side which is really nice. we usually get asparagus on the side and I've tried their mushrooms twice, the mushrooms were so salty they were hard to eat, and the asparagus always has so much pepper it's spicy and hard to taste the actual green. We still love the steak and will continue to come we just hope the sides get toned down a bit. I will say the mashed potatoes amazing read more

I have been to Asado on four separate occasions and every time I have been thoroughly satisfied. I gladly make the forty minute drive to this restaurant for good reason. This is my personal favorite restaurant in the Seattle/Tacoma area for more that just the taste of the food. The service at Asado is top notch every time. Everyone from the hosts to the bussers and wait staff are extremely pleasant, presentable and friendly. A gentleman who I believe to be either the manager or owner has been on hand every time to monitor his staff and make sure all customers are having an exceptional dining experience. Every time I have been to Asado I have ordered the flat iron steak with polenta and I have no desire to try anything else. For the price (Around $27) I don't believe you will find a better steak and dining experience in the area. Waters are never left half empty and drinks are always refilled. Food always comes out in a timely fashion. They have even gone to the length of placing a tasteful curtain around the entrance of the restaurant to keep the breeze off of diners seated near the entrance. The deserts at Asado are also exceptional. I have had both the chocolate torta as well as the fried caramel bananas and both are the perfect way to end the meal. I would recommend Asado to anyone for any kind of occasion be it a nice night on the town with a date or an anniversary dinner, you will not be disappointed. read more

We tried Asado a few years ago after it just opened and weren't overly impressed. But, friends keep raving about the food, so we decided to give it another try. We went for lunch last week. The food was quite tasty, and we were each pleased with our lunch choices - Asado Burger and Steak Sandwich Dip. The house made sweet potato fries were also quite good. Unfortunately, the service was not what we expected. There were 2 waitresses and a manager working the tables and the restaurant was NOT at all full. However, after our initial order, service really dropped. While reviewing the menus and then waiting for our food, my husband drank his water, my water, and requested refills twice before our glasses were in fact refilled. Also, I saw our food placed up under the warming lights for the server to bring round. She passed the area 4-5 times without glancing at it. Finally, I flagged her down and asked if that was in fact our food. It was, and it she finally delivered after sitting up there 5-10 minutes. Luckily it did taste good, although we have to wonder how much better it may have been if it had been delivered fresh. read more

I was actually looking for Argentine food. This place does not serve that type of cuisine. Most of the dishes and ingredients are not even Argentine. I am from Buenos Aires and this place did my country shame. First off I ordered the empanadas, they are not supposed to be fried or EVER have carrots in them. The dough was also not right, they actually sell the proper dough from Argentina here in the states. Argentinian food is NOT supposed to be spicy! You should be able to have steak and plain mashed potatoes, not purple spicy potatoes, without sweating. None of the side dishes were traditional Argentinian sides. I made the mistake of bringing my mother, who came to visit from Argentina and she made note about all the food we had saying it was Central American inspired. I would recommend to owner that he not advertise as Argentine, you are really misleading the customer about what Argentinian food is. read more

As a regular customer, I have had many great meals there. Tonight, I wanted to eat at the bar where there was plenty of room but no bar stools because customers at the bar tables were hoarding the stools for friends showing up latter. What an interesting reservation system. If people want to have dinner with friends, why don't they make table reservations like everyone else? The bartender with the pigtail didn't have the balls to correct the situation by going to one of the bar tables and getting me a stool. Sometimes being the bartender means making difficult decisions. One of those is whether you are going to run your bar or whether the public is going to run your bar. The least he should have done was to call the manager over to correct the situation. In the absence of that, I left in disgust. I will continue to eat there on rare occasion but the bartender with the pigtail will never get a tip from me. read more
