If I could give them 10 stars, I would! One of our AC units wasn't working last week during the heat wave, and it was unbearably hot in our house. I was desperate to get it working, as we were hosting a big party for 40 people in our house on Saturday night! I called Curtis on Saturday morning and he came out with another guy within 3-4 hours. Curtis came to our church hall twice, once in response to our request to investigate a suspected gas leak - the heater worked but there was natural gas odor...he suggested we contact PG&E to inspect it first. He didn't charge us. PG&E found the leak in one of the burners and expertly cleared the problem at no charge. They shut off the gas and asked me to have a licensed tech service the unit since there was some minor charring on one of the wires near the blocked burners. I called Curtis for a second visit the next day. The wires were repaired and the unit inspected. He said the unit was in good shape. He didn't charge us for that visit since PG&E found and fixed the burner. I would say that in this day and age that to provide this kind of service is amazing! Reliable, no fuss and reasonable cost HVAC service. I had to replace my 17 year old AC and Heating system. I got quotes from 4 different companies, each north of $10K. Representatives of these companies spend almost an hour with me checking existing system and explaining me about new system and their warranty. Most of the companies provided me install date 2 weeks out. Curtis from ASAP HVAC came to my house on a Sat morning, spend less than 5 mins, provided me with an instant quote that was lower by 20-25% from all previous quotes. As our house had the original (1971) furnace and ducts, this was not a surprise(we'd been told by a contractor that we had been heating the crawlspace under the house for years). One of them was a top rated "Business of the year" company 3 years in a row and 2 others one of which was ASAP. The top of the year business sent out a "salesman" who "pitched" a sale giving me 3 furnace options and told me because of Benicia's zone we did not qualify for any rebates, this didn't sound right. Above and beyond. I was visiting my mom. Her furnace wasn't working when I arrived. She had a company she found in the phone book come out. They would repair it for $1200 or replace it for $2500. I checked Yelp and called ASAP at 8:00 in the morning. Curtis, the owner, was in the area and arrived at our place in 7 minutes! He looked at the furnace, pulled out a sensor, cleaned it and the problem was resolved. I would happily have paid his reasonable charge but when I told him of my mom's experience with the 1st company he said "You have already been ripped off once so I won't charge you". To be honest, I am shocked that Curtis gets so many good reviews. I have a older system that I keep limping along until the budget permits a complete replacement. I first contacted Curtis (ASAP) last year during a heat wave. It was my first summer in this house, and it was becoming was very obvious that when my house could not be kept below 80 degrees or so, that it wasn't long for this world. I asked Curtis to do an evaluation of the basics to make sure that I could have it running as well as it could be. He came out right away. He earned points for that. But then when he came out, he seemed very put out. Maybe it was my approachable attitude, but he just kept ranting about how crappy my overall AC system was. I express that I knew that already. I just needed it the best it could be until my budget allowed a transplant. He immediately started making comments like "I wont even touch this system until you re-do the ductwork", etc. Heck, I didn't disagree with anything he was saying. An overhaul just wasn't in the cards yet. So he checked the charge and topped it off. I asked him to give me a quote on a 3.5 ton system, using my existing 90% furnace. Never heard from him again. So fast forward a year. I decided to give him one more chance (do to all the great reviews). This time, I was actually prepared to pay for some upgrades. I called him back and left a message. Never heard from him. Waited 4 business days and called again. Left a message, and got a call back this time (yay). He said he was in the area and stopped by with someone from his crew. As soon as he walked into the door, he acted put out AGAIN. Even know he knew that i was ready to upgrade my AC system. I asked him for a quote to replace my ducting, Evap coil and box, and outside condensor unit. He immediately starting telling me that he could do a bunch more work for x price. I explained that I would only be able to do what i asked for, that's it for this year. He again acted put out and told me " Give me a call when your serious". He literally walked out of the house and said "He had other jobs to get to". He had to be joking right!? So i waited and waited any communication or quote. Nothing. 5 days later, I shot a text and told him thank you for coming by. If he could quote what i was looking to do. No response. Nope, this guy is a jerk that it getting way too "big" for his own good. Stay away. read more

I was in a panic. We just bought a new house and last night the house was freezing - the furnace wouldn't work! I have a baby and was up all night with a small room heater making sure she didn't freeze. I called and the owner (Curtis) answered the phone immediately. I told him my problem and he was out within the hour! Frankly, that alone warrants 5 stars! He ran diagnostics on my outside thing (I don't know the name), identified it had plenty of Freon and worked fine. Next, he asked where the furnace and filters were. I said the filters were missing and he expertly opened the furnace, showed me where the filters were and explained how this was the source of my problem. He proceeded to clean out the filters, dried them and told me about my furnace (all while I was holding and pacifying a colicky baby in my arms) and how I can properly maintain it. I was a little nervous at the end because I realized I had probably incurred a $200 visit without asking my husband first. When I asked him, he looked at me and the baby and said - I did it for free to help you. I was absolutely astonished! I had the owner of the company come to my home within one hour and help me free of charge? There are good people in the universe and there are times like this that my faith is restored. What a nice guy. Only an expert can come help someone like myself (or my husband) who really tried to identify the issue but just couldn't. He gave me honest information (this 20-year old machine worked fine but was near the end of it's life yet needed maintenance or it would just stop working) and helped me get to look forward to a sound sleep with my baby cozy! read more

Just moved to the area from Seattle and the 25+ year old A/C with our house wasn't cutting it in our split level home in San Ramon. I got 4-5 different estimates, all from high quality companies. Most had fancy marketing materials and were about 2x what ASAP was charging for the same top of the line Bryant equipment. We had the following work done by ASAP: new A/C unit and new furnace (both top of the line, highest efficiency), new ducting, zoning into 2 zones (top floor vs. mid/bottom floor), additional duct in master bedroom, and probably something else I'm forgetting. Long overdue review. Have been working on several renovation projects since I moved back into my home post nightmare tenant move-out in July 2012. Had to finally change out my 1940 heating system and as one knows, one of the most difficult task in remodeling is the search for an accountable contractor, who is dependable and honest. I have had my fair share of hiring and firing different contractors as my projects still move along. I want to give Curtis, the owner, the credit he deserves. Among 5 different estimates, before choosing ASAP Heating and Cooling- I was wowed by the array of prices different contractors can offer for the same job! Curtis' estimate was reasonable and most of all his impression was honest. His job flowed as planned, had great communication if there needed to be a change in the flow, but most of all respectable responsive and available to any of my questions or concerns. He would easily accommodate my work schedule, but most of all make sure that I was a happy customer. Curtis and his crew did their job and they cleaned up their mess. Just because they needed to come back another day did not mean that they left their tools or any garbage around until then (which I have had the experience with other contractors do believe it or not) If they left their tools- they left them neatly in a corner and asked me if it was okay. I mention this , because I had a contractor who continually left his heavy tools in front of my washer as if I did not have laundry to do?!?! I was impressed with the fact that Curtis would take full responsibility if any mistakes his crew may have made and made corrections immediately. He did not wait for me to bring up the issue; as he took notice of it right away before I saw it and discussed it with me to make sure he was aware it. The issue was that one of his guys used a sharpie vs. a pencil (which could be erased) to make his markings on my freshly painted ceiling. Attention to detail on Curtis' part was what took away any of my doubts on the company's dependability. 7 months later, I did need him to come back to help me figure something out with the drain and immediately he knew what it was per my description on the telephone making sure he was out to fix it as soon as he could. Curtis obviously knows what he is doing and his work shows his experience and knowledge. His good customer services comes naturally vs. trying to bullshit a customer. If I could give this company 6 stars I would! After a week of 100+ temperatures, on the Friday of the Fourth of July weekend, my air conditioner completely quit working. I immediately began calling repair companies searching for someone who could repair my air conditioner. ALL of them said they were booked solid & they'd return my call in 1-2 WEEKS! Ahhhh Then I found ASAP Heating & Cooling and contacted Curtis, the owner of the company, telling him my air conditioner had completely stopped working. Curtis said he would be at my house that Sunday! Yeah! He arrived on time as promised and was extremely polite and knowledgeable! He fixed our air conditioner in about 10 minutes (compressor died) and told us our air conditioner (14yrs old) should hold up a few more years. There were no "extra" charges and no hidden agendas.
