Ascend Steakhouse is on of the premier places for some fine dining in Bellevue. First off, I recommend you do the reservation with a guaranteed view. The option I indulged in last night was open seating in the lounge/bar area next to the fire place. Even then, on a clear June evening, you get lots of natural views and light. The whole lounge area is definitely a vibe. The customer service is fantastic. The only name you need to know is Tina's name. Tina will give you the experience of a lifetime. All her recommendations were fantastic (see photos). She took great care of making sure that not only my food experience was great but the entire experience was great. Highly recommend asking for her by name. Speaking of the food.... quite possibly the most delicious food I have had in a long time. The cocktails were great ( I went with bourbon based cocktails) and the food was fantastic (again- see photos). For my birthday, my husband took us to a place I had bookmarked a while ago, after hearing several clients rave about the views. We had reservations for dining so we had to wait in the lounge area before the room would open. Our waitress in the lounge was very attentive and nice, and the views from the lounge were great so overall it was a good experience. We ordered 2 sets of hand rolls, the ceviche and the truffle, and I got some non-alcoholic drink that want bad but wasn't great, either. Both hand rolls were very surprising in their ingredients and overall taste, but our favorite was the ceviche. Odd that they feel the need to charge extra for soy sauce and wasabi, but okay. Once sat in the tiny table in the dining room, our waiter came by and offered his sage advice on the menu. He made a comment about his "lean body" and what he chooses to intake with regards to food and his recs for dinner that he did NOT say to the table full of thin, white folks next to us, so that was noteworthy and unnecessary. He recommended me the cap of ribeye, which for the price, left a lot to be desired personally. My husband preferred the flavor of that particular piece over his bone-in, and I actually preferred his, so that was interesting. We also ordered the truffle Mac and cheese but didn't finish it. The pasta was very reminiscent of wheat or lentil pasta and it felt too stodgy. Flavor was fine, but the parsley crumbs were....an interesting visual choice. The bread "basket" was interesting, but the best was the complimentary dessert (goat cheesecake was delectable), as well as the mushroom dessert. So cute and tasty. We were mostly taken care of by side staff and frankly, they were much warmer and approachable, so kudos to them. Lastly, I was shocked to learn of the deposit to sit by a window, and then having to watch people come in wearing sweat pants and crocs. I like a good steak and when celebrating an event, friends recommended meeting at Ascend. I've never been to this restaurant before and it was quite a treat. The ambiance is very elegant without feeling too stuffy. The patio view is amazing surrounded by water. We started with the Tuna Tartare which was really good. We added fries, Truffle Mac and Cheese, Grilled Veggies and the bread service. Everyone raved about all of it. The truffle mac and cheese was something we hadn't tried before and it was amazing. We also all ordered the Filet Mignon which was made perfectly. The restaurant was aware we were celebrating and they brought over a couple of desserts for us to share and they were also great. The service was attentive and friendly. Our table attendant was named Brian and he was on top of everything. All in all, the service, ambiance and food were all top tier. This restaurant is not inexpensive, but totally worth it. I will definitely dine here again and highy recommend it. One caveat: In our rush to get to an engagement, I miscalculated the tip and did not realize this until going through receipts the next day. We came here to celebrate our one-year anniversary and had such an amazing experience I honestly forgot our server's name, but she truly made our night so memorable. We started with the sushi tacos and beef tartare--both were sooo good. Everything was super flavorful and had us excited for the rest of the meal. I also got the Cloud Nine cocktail that our server recommended, and it was perfect--on the sweeter side and not too strong, exactly what I was looking for. For our entrée, we got steaks and they were cooked perfectly, like actually so good. What really made the night special though was our server. She surprised us with dessert and even did a little presentation for us, which was so cute and thoughtful. My husband took me here for my birthday dinner and WOW, everything about this restaurant is exceptional. First off, upon walking into the restaurant, the first thing you'd notice is the stunning view. The restaurant is on the 31st floor and has huge glass doors throughout the dining room. The ambiance of the restaurant as a whole is nice and perfect for a date night or special occasion. Service is also exceptionally attentive and friendly. The menu here offers a variety of different steaks, seafood, and sushi. I ordered the luxury outskirt steak and my husband and I had the beef tartare to share. The steak I had was amazing and was up there for steaks I've had in general. My husband ordered a different steak on the menu and was also impressed. The beef tartare was also exceptional as well. Fortunately, it started clearing up as we were on our way and we were able to enjoy the gorgeous views and atmosphere in both the bar and dining area. We first got drinks at the bar and moved over to sit in front of the cute fireplace. I tried a delicious cocktail called the Pear Pressure, which I would recommend to anyone who likes pears and enjoys fruity cocktails. For dinner, we moved over to the spacious dining area with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. We weren't very hungry, so we both ordered the sushi omakase, which comes with 7 pieces of sushi. It was presented beautifully on a plate with colorful toppings. I was so full that I didn't have any room for dessert, but my non-dessert-eating boyfriend insisted we order one. I really didn't understand why until it arrived. came to Ascend Prime Steak & Sushi to celebrate someone special, and it honestly felt like the perfect place for it. the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the view of the Bellevue skyline at night is just unreal. it's dimly lit inside, which does make it a little hard to see at times, but it actually adds to the vibe it feels intimate, romantic, and very date-night coded. for food, i went with the wagyu burger (i know... not the steak, but i was trying to be a little budget conscious, i can't spend $300 on steak yet). still, it did NOT disappoint. super juicy, flavorful, and honestly better than expected. the fries (or fries with that rich seaweed seasoning) were also really good and paired perfectly with it, very umami. i also tried the chef's special omakase, which was such a pleasant surprise didn't even expect a steakhouse to offer something like that, but it was genuinely impressive and well thought out. every bite felt intentional and elevated. i was hoping to finish with the magic mushroom dessert, but unfortunately they were sold out for the night. ended up getting the goat cheese panna cotta instead, and that actually turned out to be a great backup. light, creamy, and a really nice way to end the meal. service was also super kind and attentive throughout, helping us navigate the menu and making the whole experience feel smooth and celebratory. overall, really memorable dinner and i'd definitely come back for another special occasion. read more

We went to Ascend prime due to the incredible views and the hopes of great food to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, we were placed at a table that faced a beverage station with waiters backs to us for most of the meal and loud noises. We needed to wear sunglasses for half our meal because we were directly facing the sun. When we asked to be placed at a different table with a better view, we were told there were no other tables. However, we noticed several empty tables available along the windows that remained empty for the full duration of our meal. Additionally, the uni nigiri was melted and really disappointing. The waiters were quite nice but due to our table location, it was very hard to hear them or when they described our food. When paying $500+ for a meal, I would expect better and would recommend going to other restaraunts in area. We will not be going back. read more

What can I say about this place other than WOW! The atmosphere of the restaurant was incredible with the city view watching the sun set from the dining room. Our server Sebastian was so knowledgeable on every dish and was able to expertly walk us through each section of the menu so we didn't feel rushed or unsure of anything we were ordering. Located on the 31st floor, def has beautiful views of Bellevue. Came here on a whim for Happy Hour with a dear friend. My friend always raved about the Ascend Wagyu burger, so def ordered that. And also ordered the Hamachi Truffle Handroll. The burger was pretty good! The patty was juicy and went well with the white cheddar. One thing to keep in mind is that the burger does come with a over medium egg, so if you're not into eggs in your burger, you can request to take it out. I like that they include a In regards to the Hamachi Truffle Handroll, I was pleasantly surprised! All the toppings complimented the hamachi and the truffle was the cherry on top! I ordered a drink as well, I think it was the cloud nine. To me, this drink was refreshing, a little on the sweet side, but it was still good. But the presentation was nice since they add dry ice, so you get a little show which I recommend. My friend ordered the 1921, which also is presented with dry ice. They have other drinks that have smoke/dry ice shows as well. Just ask! Service was good! Got checked on enough, and they were friendly. If you haven't been here, I'd say to at least try it once. Brunch at Ascend Prime Steak & Sushi was a mixed bag. The food itself was really good and definitely lived up to the hype, but the service was honestly terrible and overshadowed the meal. We waited about 45 minutes just to get bread and our drinks, even after reminding our waiter multiple times. It only happened after I literally had to walk around the restaurant to find him. Throughout the meal it was incredibly hard to get his attention--water refills were basically impossible. To make it worse, one of us ordered decaf coffee, and when coffee finally arrived (again, ~45 minutes later), they poured regular coffee for everyone, including the person who asked for decaf. read more

Premier location for incredible view of Mt. Rainier, Lake Washington, and the Sound. On a clear day, there is nowhere better to be. The staff is always exceptional. They even have an app to check all the contents on the entire menu for people with allergies. Two approaches to landing a table, 1) get a reservation and sit at a table and eat comfortably, but I prefer 2) walk in and ask for lounge seating. All the table are lounge-type so they are not ideal for eating a full meal, but I've done everything from drinks and apps to full steak meals. I hands down think the lounge seating is better because it is less obstructed and facing south, southwest.. The dining area tables have a beautiful view as well, but it doesn't seem as nice unless you pay for/score a window seat (far more seating that is not next to a window and some facing more downtown). LOVE love this place, BUT, it is VERY pricey and though the presentation of all their dishes is wonderful and the menu is sophisticated, I'm not overwhelmingly wowed by they food. They were excellent and we definitely enjoyed their service plus personalities matched our party which we loved! I decided to try their Petal & Plume drink to start off the night, it genuinely was great combination of the hibiscus flavor with the tequila. They 100% put a good amount of alcohol because every sip HIT! 9/10 on the taste and alcohol feel. As for our meals, my girl and I went for the Pacific Caesar Salad & the Omakase Nigiri... hands down, BEST Caesar salad I have ever had, so good I forgot to take a picture! The dressing and salmon were perfectly paired and not overbearing in the fish taste whatsoever. I would 100% order that again. The Omakase was a straight 10/10, every piece had a wonderful taste and not just a straight fish taste. One of my favorite pieces had to have been the seared tuna nigiri & the scallop nigiri but quite honestly I destroyed the whole set. I was super excited to come here for the first time on a date and was totally blown away by how incredible the experience was. I started with the Cloud Nine and it arrived at our table smoking, it was honestly so much fun to stick my face in the cloud, like putting your head in the fridge. I loved how refreshing it tasted and the blueberry added a tart twist. For dinner I ordered the Dungeness Crab Mac n Cheese and found it satisfyingly flavourful. The cheese was perfectly creamy and the veggies added a fresh bite. As a whole the dish was artfully put together and I adored the presentation. My date ordered the Angus Prime Filet Mignon and I'm not normally a steak person, but the few bites I had of his dinner were phenomenal. The meat was tender and seasoned to perfection. I was so impressed that they were able to get so much flavour through the entire cut. The presentation of the bread looked so good, and I loved the nori crackers they had. I just wish I'd had a chance to try more of the bread, I was so busy talking to my date, I only got to try a few bites and our server cleared it from the table when our mains came so I was sad I didn't get a chance to sample everything. For dessert we shared a small magic mushroom and it came to the table looking so cute and whimsical I almost didn't want to eat it. I love how it resembled a little terrarium and the chocolate was so delectably rich. The little marshmallow mushroom was also so yummy. Our server was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of the whole night. He ensured we also got sunset pictures and didn't make us feel rushed at all. The view obviously was the best part of the restaurant. It was so awe-inspiring to get to see Bellevue and Seattle come to life as the sun was setting. I'm back with a review specifically about Ascend's 4th of July party! Reading through the reviews I saw several negative reviews in 2019 about Ascend's 4th of July party and to be honest I stayed away from it partially due to those reviews. This year, though, I decided to take the chance and I bought tickets for Ascend's 7th Anniversary / 4th of July Party. I booked the Tier 1 VIP table and it was worth the experience! My friend and I arrived right around 7 PM and saw a considerable line by the elevator banks. As we approached we saw there were two lines - one for general admission and one for VIP. We went into the VIP line and were checked in and then escorted to our elevator, given a glass of champagne, and then escorted to our table after being provided shiny gold VIP bracelets. After being seated and given the rundown we walked around to see what we could see. There were so much to eat, drink, and experience. There were food stations that had wagyu corn dogs, beef tartare cones, a sushi hand roll station, a seafood station, and an entire room of delicious desserts - macarons, coconut ice cream in chocolate cups, cotton candy, maple doughnuts, and more! There was so much to do! Various lawn games were around from a mini-putt putt to corn hole. They had a plating competition and a blind wine tasting test. There was a photo booth with props to take pictures with. A live band played music. Then at the end of the night there was the Bellevue 4th of July firework show that we were able to watch from our booth. Here are my overall impressions - The food was absolutely amazing. Great variety and all little bites providing a fabulous sampling. The atmosphere was incredible. It felt like an entirely different restaurant in a fun, festive way - a little Northwest spirit mixed with boardwalk flair. The staff were fabulous. They kept the food coming, were very engaged, and ensured fun times were had by all. They kept the VIP area clear of others but were very polite when asking the guests from general admissions to vacate. They also kept the atmosphere - for example one of the VIPs had her flashlight on her phone on while recording the fireworks which was apparent with the lights shut off. They kindly asked her to shut it off. The crowd level was manageable. Between the outside patio seating and the inside lounge seating it appeared as though everyone could sit if they desired to. Our nigiri sushi was fantastic, I would come back for sushi and drinks likely in the lounge area but I'm not sure if I would dine for dinner again. Our steaks were perfect temperature and the crust on the outside was delightful. The steaks were good but not super special for the price. The summer vegetables were disappointing, the dressing or sauce on them was overwhelming and the different arrangement of vegetables wasn't very cohesive with one another. Overall the side options are limited and I would be more likely to try another steak place but would return for sushi and drinks with an incredible view. read more

I have only tried their steak which was really good and cooked to my liking which is a plus... a lot of places always overcook my steak. The lounge has some cool looking fireplaces. The main dining room has windows on 3 sides and tree roots on the ceiling which is pretty cool. The lounge faces south, while dining faces west, and private dining rooms cover the other directions. Decent amount of people in the lounge for happy hour on a weekday. The happy hour menu is drinks and mostly smaller bites. We tried a bunch of stuff from the menu, oyster shooter, salmon taco, tuna handroll, deviled eggs. Also got the wagyu burger which was the most substantial food item on the menu. The burger was the tastiest out of the bunch. Very juicy patty, nicely seasoned sauce, and a fried egg, and soft buns. The rest of the items had nice presentation, and they taste fine, but that small portions. For drinks, I got the Pear Pressure which is pear-base cocktail, and it was pretty decent. My friend got the Violet purple cocktail, and that was way too sweet and floral for either of our liking. Service is good as you'd expect from a restaurant at this price point, and when bringing each item the staff gives a description, just in case we forgot. Even with the happy hour menu, this place is definitely pricey. Our total was $150 before tips. We were full, but it's one of those places that you only visit once in a while. read more

Old fashioned & a Mezcal drink my wife had. We ordered a good amount as you can see in these pictures. But wow - every bite was well worth it. I have eaten at Ascend several times and felt like this was not the best experience. Service was 5 stars and was impeccable but the food was quite lackluster, especially for the price. It's still a gorgeous place for dinner with amazing views (even got a rainbow), but I was disappointed with the food and drink. The sushi rolls sounded inventive but were a miss with flavor. The drinks were ok but nothing earth moving. The Washingtonian drink came under the cloud of smoke (I forgot that) and it bothered one of the people at the table. Oysters on the halfshell were hit or miss and very small. It was hard to remember what was what. The veggie side was scant so we needed to order 2 more for the table of 6, but the mushrooms were fine. The potatoes were so silken we debated whether it was truly potato alone. My 6 Oz of meat was seasoned well but so thick. I like my meat med rare and it was quite rare in the middle, which I think wasn't an issue of the chef but just the sheer chunkiness of the meat. More cooking would have made it too tough and gray. The cod was flaky but the sauce was lacking. They served me what they called a "big cab, round and full, with rich notes of cherry" but I found it dry to finish and not bold. They offered another glass but I was mostly through my steak and didn't feel like another glass. Everyone always loves the mushroom dessert and it is as cute as always. Located on the top floor of the Lincoln Square South tower, this place (as you can imagine) has some of Bellevues most amazing views. A great overlook of Lake Washington and the Seattle skyline, a nice spot for dinner, happy hour, or both! Top shelf cocktails! I love whisky and thus old fashioneds. They had their take on it called the Washingtonian. Complete with smoke and a fabulous reveal. I love smokey, peaty drinks so this was right up my alley. Be sure to check out their display of steaks toward the restrooms. It was pretty cool. Steaks are typical offerings. I've tried a handful from different work events. They also have some private rooms in the back with screens for presentations. I've had some really good sushi here as well. Overall, I typically recommend this place for visiting vendors wanting a good meal with good drinks since its smack dab in the heart of Bellevue. Good views, good food, good atmosphere. Ascend delivers an elevated experience, especially when it comes to atmosphere and service. The views are absolutely phenomenal and easily one of the best parts of dining here. The curated drinks are well done, and I really enjoy their special events like Fourth of July and New Year's Eve, which always feel thoughtfully planned and festive. The brunch menu is solid, and I appreciate that it includes juices and tea, which makes it feel like a more complete experience. I'm torn on what star rating to give. I came the first time for a special occasion and a second with my mom. Both times I received good, attentive service. The view is clearly to die for so that adds to the experience but the food is a mix of great to disappointing. The wagyu burger and nori fries: delicious, complimentary flavors from ingredients. Cooked well. No complaints. The spicy tuna hand roll: good balance between textures of soft fish and crunchy fish roe and bubu arare. Mildly spicy. Salmon hand roll with ume. Kinda predictable. Didn't wow me. Wagyu bao slider. Wagyu beef cheeks. Pickled daikon. Fried shishito accompaniment. Mom's favorite. Everything worked well together. Perfectly seasoned. Then we have the Korean style karaage... they are meatballs. Minced chicken meatballs. It was the most bizarre interpretation and it did not work. Not crunchy, though the menu states so. No discernible foie gras taste from the dusting of it on the meatballs. There were also three little pieces of celery with "almond foie butter". Some pickled daikon would have paired better as that is what is typically served with fried chicken in Korea. This missed the mark so bad I was appalled. Plus the $22 price tag. Ugh. You've been warned. Go for the views. Not for the karaage. read more

The inside interior was clean and amazing, the service was great, but most of all, the food was beyond amazing. Great place for special occasions. Really loved the view from almost anywhere in the restaurant. Was celebrating our anniversary and they brought out a complimentary dessert which was so cool with the dry ice. It was a nice touch and really ended the night on a wonderful note. We had dinner at Ascend on 6/20. Everything was wonderful. The food and our waiters were great. The only exception was the cold reception from the hostess. First impressions set the tone, and unfortunately, she did not make us feel welcome. I noticed she was the same with other diners. Outstanding luxury file mignon! We also had the mushrooms (excellent!), the mashed potatoes (as expected), the oxtail veloute (underwhelming and bland) and the duck breast (very good but the accompaniments were bland). The cocktails were exceptionally smooth and delicious, and our server was very attentive and approachable. I'm giving it 4 stars as I'd expect all dishes to be fantastic for the price point.
