    A little Pappy Van Winkle!

i have been doing here for over25 years! The food is consistently amazing , drinks are delish and service and ambience is delightful. i know it sounds crazy but i love my steak served at top temp and my ice cream cold!

We have been here several times and had decent meals, but we had a super disappointing experience this time. From the beginning, the host was a bit rude. They sat us at a table all the way in the back by a swinging door, and when we requested to move that he said that we had to go all the way back to the front of the restaurant to be reseated one table over. We all got wagyu steaks but they were poor cuts and drowning in butter, and incredibly salty. The icing on the cake is that I asked for my leftovers to be boxed up, they did not package up multiple full stalks of the remaining asparagus. Just overall a pretty horrible experience from service to food beginning from the start all the way through the leftovers. At this point, I'm not sure I would ever return for anything but a cocktail at the bar.

Stopped in for happy hour on a very slow evening to celebrate my retirement; nice relaxed vibe in the bar with only a few tables occupied. Service was excellent. Lacy took great care of us, and Gabe at the bar did a solid job on my specialty cocktail. The downside: the happy hour menu felt limited, and the discounts were modest (about $2 off select drinks). I expected a bit more variety and value. Gotta wish! That said, the food was fantastic. The seated ahi was amazing, the steak bites were really good, and the Caesar salad hit the mark. My only miss was the $35 specialty Manhattan -- well made but far too sweet for my taste, especially at that price. Overall, great service and quality food -- just hoping for a stronger happy hour lineup next time.

Came here for happy hour and were impressed with all the drinks and small bites they had. It's never a happy hour without fries so of course we ordered them. Service is great, and the views from the dining area are stunning.

My husband and I went to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. Our waiter Ben was very friendly and knowledgeable and did a great job checking on us throughout the meal. I decided to try a different steak and was not disappointed. I ordered the Delmonico and WOW it was incredible. I also had their new martini-- the Timeless Flower. While it tasted lovely, it was a little weak. My husband ordered the ribeye with the lobster mashed potatoes and I'm a little bummed I didn't because those are SO good! We shared an order of the bacon wrapped scallops, something we have been dreaming of since the last time we had them 2 years ago. I think we will make this our preferred location because the ambience is much classier and more of a fine-dining experience.

Went on a beautiful day and got patio seating. We were served right away and given great service. Our waiter was friendly and quick. The steak was cooked perfectly and the Cesar salad was amazing.

We had a very nice dinner. Highlights were the popcorn shrimp and dungeness crab. I do wish the crab was served separately from the sauce as I would have preferred melted butter. The service was decent. We enjoyed the quiet table we had and the location continues to be a great place for a celebration.

Thoroughly impressed with this place! The patio has some really great views of Seattle which honestly really help the experience here. We didn't make a reservation so it was seat yourself in the bar area around 7 on Wednesday which was fine! We managed to snag a great table on the patio that was quiet and private and our waitress paid great attention to us which was awesome! I got the margarita to drink which was simple but effective. We also got some of the cheese curds to try as an appetizer which were quite delicious! For my entree, I got the strip with fries and we also got some other sides like the Mac and Cheese and asparagus which were also great. I loved that they asked us to cut open our steaks to make sure they were cooked to the temperature we wanted. Overall, I can't argue with good food and good vibes. We were here with work so price wasn't our big concern but I do think the prices were semi-reasonable. Is this an everyday restaurant? No but I think for a special occasion this would great. We can't forget dessert also! My espresso martini was stunning and the creme brulee and butter cake were delish! Overall, a delicious meal and I can't complain!

For the price point, I'm going to have to critique a little harder. Total for 3 came out to just under $550, almost $200 per person (which was fully expected but still high). I personally would've rather spent this money on an omakase or michelin, which both can cost about the same as this but with better quality, but steak is steak. This was my 2nd time here, and it was sadly not the magic I remember it being. Steak was very tender for sure, and service was good - but overall not the *wow* I expect for the price point. First on the steak, which is ofc the star of the show: the extra charred exterior on the steak (as advertised during the mini info speech by our server) was not all that impressive nor noticeable, and I've definitely had and made steak at home with a better crust. I asked for lighter char, which from what I understood would come more like a restaurant standard char (they said their ovens were extra hot hence extra char for *their* usual steak standards). Mine felt sadly pretty soggy and wet, and although inside was really tender, the exterior ruined it the longer I ate it. We all traded bites and they agreed. That was probably the biggest disappointment, with the soggy crust. Secondly, the knife. The dull, hardly serrated knives had us all hacking our way through the steak with ugly cuts that ripped apart the meat and pressed out all the juices for every bite, and I couldn't cut my bites as small as I wanted to because it took that much effort - so just big chunks each time. My friends also noticed this. Thirdly, the flavor. Lightly salted on the outside but bland on the inside - which is why the outside should have a slightly heavier salting, to balance out the unseasoned inside for a perfect bite. Both my friend and I had to take turns aggressively trying to get salt out of the salt shaker, which we couldn't even see how much was coming out due to the dark room, but it was much lighter flow than a normal diner salt shaker so it took some time to salt each individual bite with enough salt. Our other friend was content with her seasoning and commented that ours did indeed have less than hers did. Maybe a different chef? Fourth, the garlic mashed potatoes barely had any garlic, just a forward taste of cream and a hint of the prior (delicious but where's the garlic?) - and the truffle fries were again limp and soggy (not crispy, at all) and heavy on the parmesean but light on the salt and truffle flavor. I remember ordering truffle fries years ago that I enjoyed but this time, not so much. Really needed a truffle aioli to go with it - the one at shake shack would've easily trumped this one. :( Fifth, I thought it was a bit strange to have to cut into our steaks upon their arrival to check for correct doneness. It has been many years since my last visit and I don't remember that being standard practice, so I was thrown off this time. I understand why they do it, as Im sure people complain a lot halfway through their meals once they get into the center, but I do feel like it cools down the steak a lot faster, and I feel like 90 percent of the steak was pretty much a cool room temp by the time it made it into my mouth, even as slightly bigger chunks. Maybe it also contributed to how soggy it turned out being, since the cut down the middle probably leaches out more juices than starting from the edges. It also felt impossible to truly see the inside well, with the tiny flashlight pointed at the angle it was at hence creating shadows, so we all just nodded in agreement and moved on with the dinner so we could eat it while as hot as possible. Mine was a bit more done than I had asked for, but it was still fine enough to eat, and the other two seemed to have theirs cooked to their orders. Next, the creme brulee we had for dessert had a really hard top. We all agreed that the layer of torched sugar on top was much too thick (should be sturdy but delicate enough), but this one needed to be stabbed a few times to break through and was not fun to eat the big chunks of sugar pieces so we didn't finish it - this coming from all three of us who have had a decent amount of them and never had this thick of a top. Lastly, one of the drinks ordered was way too sweet and my friend couldn't drink it, so they re-made it for her with a different alcohol (but upcharged it without letting her know the price difference until seeing it on the receipt, which wasn't too much but just seemed tacky in practice), and then the bad drink charge also showed up on the receipt so she had to flag the waiter down to let them know for them to remove it since she didn't even get to drink it. On the positive end, we had a celebration and the guest of honor was content. I will emphasize again that the steaks were still quite quality meat and tender, and the workers were all extremely professional. The busser especially was really attentive and great at refilling our waters.

Went here for a special occasion with my dad. He loves steak houses and this one has been popular for years so we finally went. It was much more lively and loud than I would have expected. They lead us to a table that had broccoli all over the ground. It's the first thing I see, there is no way no one else noticed that the whole night. I kept thinking someone will come over and sweet it up and it just sat next to my chair, in view, the whole dinner. I am not really one to complain about this kind of thing, but for this "high end" restaurant with a 20% service fee included, you'd think this detail is something they'd take care of. We got the scallops for an appetizer, eh. Wouldn't order next time. Dad's steak came out very over done and sent it back. They were very nice about it and brought out a steak at the perfect temp next round. Also got the corn, not a whole lot of flavor. The steaks were very tender but for the price of them including the rest of the experience I wouldn't come back.

We came here for dinner and I have to say, everything was a 5/5. We had a reservation but we did have to wait at the front a little bit until we got sat. We had a pretty large party but they accommodated us. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and everyone really enjoyed each dish. The view from this restaurant is just gorgeous and during sunset was really prime time. The service was great and I really have no complaints. I highly recommend!

    Butter Cake

I ordered the Porthouse and the strip side was medium rare plus (ordered it medium rare) but the filet side was over cooked. The server had me cut into the meat, I should have cut into the filet side. I could also taste the fuel they used when they cooked the food too. I can say the potato was cooked perfectly. I also ordered the Butter Cake and it was a little under cooked. Disappointing but I wanted to give it a try since I was staying next door. Great views though and the service was good.

I love coming here for celebrations, today was my birthday and I had a wonderful experience. I got the lavender martini, ribeye with mashed potato's and crispy brussel sprouts. Lavender martini was delicious and sweet! The ribeye was cooked perfectly and was enough to share with my sister. Crispy brussel sprouts are a must and are perfectly crisp, sweet and a lil spicy everytime! The dessert was one of our favorites as well, the coconut ice cream is creamy and the glass has a thick layer of chocolate sauce & crispy coconut flakes covering the sides so every bite can have toppings. Our waiter took care of us well and has a lovely voice, he sang for me when giving me the dessert. The decor & 21st floor views are beautiful as well, and seating is very comfortable.

I was dining with a friend who has dietary restrictions, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was safe for them. They patiently checked ingredients, confirmed details with the kitchen, and made us feel completely comfortable throughout the meal. That level of attentiveness and care is something I always appreciate. The staff also gave fantastic recommendations, which made navigating the menu much easier. It's clear they know the menu well and genuinely want guests to have a great experience. As for the food, everything was excellent. We started with oysters, which were incredibly fresh. I especially loved the variety of sauces and accompaniments that came with them--each one brought out different flavors and made the tasting experience even more enjoyable. Another standout was the lobster roll. It was wonderfully indulgent, loaded with sweet lobster, and served on a perfectly buttery roll. Definitely not an everyday meal, but absolutely worth treating yourself to. Every bite felt rich, satisfying, and delicious. The real star of the meal, though, was the sea bass. It was beautifully cooked, tender, flaky, and packed with flavor. Every bite practically melted in my mouth, and it easily became one of the best sea bass dishes I've had in a long time. Between the outstanding service, thoughtful accommodations, fresh seafood, and expertly prepared dishes, Water Grill continues to be one of my favorite spots for a special meal. Highly recommend!

Perfectly salted butter, and the taste reminded me of sourdough but the texture of the bread itself was like a very crispy crunchy outer layer over a martin's potato roll. - The Grand (3/5): I learned that I am definitely not a shellfish person.. so keep in mind of my biased take! I wish the waiter explained what came on our plate, but he quickly scooted away. The scallops were my favorite. Nice and mild and sweet flavor. The grand also came with 6 sauces to pair. Wasn't sure which sauce went best with which, but doesn't hurt to try? shell on shrimp and lobster claw were the second and third bests in my opinion. - Grilled Black-eyed Perch (4/5): got a smaller 1.2 lb fish. Can get it grilled and fried. Fried is ~$4 more. This fish was around 38-39/lb at the time of writing. Flavors were so great! Not a bony fish at all and didn't have to really pick at it. A tad dry in certain parts, but again, nice salty, zesty from the lemon and herbaceous. This place is definitely on the $$$ side, so can see ppl coming here for special occasions.

I noticed that there was the option to order headless shrimp for those of you who are squeamish about shrimp heada. Yes, this is an expensive place but since we were here during lunch hours, we were able to take advantage of the Executive Lunch - Set menu for $45 per person. Among us 3 people, we were able to taste everything available in that set menu and every single dish was amazing - like truly, from presentation to flavors, especially the 3 appetizers - so so very good! This is everything we had - Starters - 1. Sunchoke Cebiche - must try 2. Roquitas Nikkei - must try 3. Clásico Cebiche - must try Main 1. Wild Mushroom Saltado 2. Lomo Saltado 3. Arroz con Mariscos Dessert 1. Tres Leches de Coco - must try Service was very well timed. We had an amazing time. Great place for a team lunch/dinner. Location is perfect, heart of downtown but none of the road noise or human traffic. A wonderful add to downtown Bellevue!

Eggplant dish -berenjena criolla 5/5 -- favorite dish of the day. Love that you can still taste a bit of the fried texture on the eggplant and flavor was nutty, creamy, and citrusy. Achupado 3/5 - this was a good dish, there was a variety of seafood and they were all good except for the octopus. That was inedible. I wished they cut it to smaller pieces so it can be eaten easier or give us a knife but as is, it was way too tough and chewy. Flavors was spot on, I do wish they gave more noodles to absorb the sauce Ceviche tasting - 5/5 love the variety. All of them was fresh, tangy and flavorful Complimentary corn - 5/5 this was addicting Service 3/5 : our server was very knowledgeable, he gave us a little of a tour of the menu, cam check on us a couple of times. However, I wish he would have clearly explained that the executive lunch was for the whole table, not just individual. Also, cleaning our table while we are still there is a bit rude in my opinion, almost feel like they are rushing us out. The place is fancy and very very pricey. Good for special occasions or once in a while splurge.

We did a belated Christmas gift exchange with friends recently and our friends made reservations here. So glad they did! It's literally right down in the main Bellevue Square hub, so we were able to easily park at the mall and make a short walk to Castilla. Vibes were perfect with low lighting but still a bustling atmosphere. Our server (unfortunately forgot his name) kept solid recommendations coming all night and was so funny and personable! As this is a tapas spot, we tried quite a few dishes and split them amongst the table. Mixta Paella: our server promised us that the smaller size paella was good for 2-4 people and man he was RIGHT. The portion was absolutely insane and I don't think we even finished all of it. Everything tasted so fresh and there was so much flavor to the dish. They warn you ahead of time, but plan for the paella to take 30 minutes for them to prepare. Grilled Octopus Leg: Every time I have octopus (which is two times now LOL) I'm a little worried about the texture, but it was prepared beautifully here and the sauce that it was in was delicious. Salmon & Artichoke Dip: I'm a sucker for any type of artichoke dip and this was no exception. Creamy, rich, and great flavor! Beef Medallions: Tender and cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend. Chorizo & Onion Empanada: Another banger. So crispy and the filling was so good! I actually was on the fence about this one but my husband insisted, and it was a good choice. Patatas Aioli: Crispy layered potato with a garlic aioli? I mean, come on. You can't go wrong. Delicious. This was our first visit to Castilla and I'm sure it won't be the last - would definitely return if I'm dining up again in Bellevue!
