Asian Bistro is a very interesting place. Its located in a really awkward dead end road with very spotty phone service. However, despite this the food is quite good. I ordered a bentobox and you can choose two entrees to put in it. It comes with 2 pieces of (really badly crafted sushi) and a few other sides like a salad. Although the sushi was very subpar, the entrees are quite delicious. There is also a student discount and if you check in on yelp you can choose to get a free drink I believe. This is as of June 2017. The service is more of do it yourself. I will definitely be coming here again to evaluate the quality of the food again. Hopefully the sushi that comes with the combo is better, but overall the main dishes are quite good. I got the bulgolgi and also a general tsao's chicken. I have been here plenty of times and usually opt for the higher rated dishes like the spicy seafood noodle and sushi and the seafood pancake. Those dishes are pretty good. I'd say average but this is one of the few restaurants in Princeton that serve Korean dishes so me and my family keep coming back. However, today I decided to try the spicy rice cake and I was thoroughly disappointed. First look at the dish and I already knew something was off. I tried picking up the rice cake and they were not tender and were easily broken apart using my chopsticks. Now, I have had my fair share of spicy rice cakes, good or bad but I have never seen this before. I took a bite of the rice cake and immediately regretted it. The rice cakes were too soft and were immediately stuck to the roof of my mouth. The texture was off and the dish was not enjoyable at all. I tried to force myself to eat more but I could not even though I was very hungry. I took it back to the counter and told them the texture was off and it wasn't how it was supposed to be hoping they could fix it. They brought back the dish after a few minutes and the results were still the same. Needless to say this was definitely my last visit. read more

Asian Bistro catered a special event for us. Kendra, the manager, was amazing. She helped us with details, like which dishes & how much to order (turned out to be the perfect amount). She was also very clear on what is & isn't included in the price. She even made special arrangements for the Korean barley tea we requested (that's not even on their menu). We had ordered mostly Korean entrees & banchan (and chicken katsu). The food was very good, plentiful & hot (where it was supposed to be hot). Went here for lunch with coworkers. Overall going to give this a place a solid dining choice. Overall setup is good with nice easy instructions as soon as you walk in. (This is not a waiter/waitress type of restaurant). I had the lunch Pho and it was decent but definitely not as good as an actual viet restaurant but it isn't that type of restaurant. They have multiple different picks from different asian dining choices. My coworkers dishes were all good as well (not spectacular) but satisfying. The soondubu (kimchi stew) is super average. Maybe below average. Fine but BCD Tofu House, the closest which is in Manhattan, is wayyyy better. Service was super fast, but I was disappointed. No side dishes as if you went to an authentic Korean restaurant either. The stew was bubbling hot but I think the dish was just missing flavor. It just tasted like hot soup with some kimchi and tofu and vegetables. Just disappointing. Apart from my meal, some other notes.... - you can choose between table service or you can order from the counter yourself. Literally it seemed like there was no difference because everyone sat at the same tables and a waiter helped us clear our trays afterward - the menu is pretty extensive, with sushi, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine. However, this also can be one of the reasons why my kimchi stew was average. The restaurant doesn't specialize in perfecting its Korean dishes. There were more Korean dishes than any other cuisine. Oh also they have Vietnamese cuisine too.... pho, this the single Vietnamese dish. - the menu also has pictures in the back for many dishes, which is helpful if you want to try something new or aren't familiar with some items - my friend got pad Thai and the portion was pretty humongous, so I would say it seemed like an excellent value - free beverage with yelp check in is great. They had lots of options, my big iced tea was awesome. Overall I might come back here if I'm in the area, but I really came specifically for the soondubu/kimchi stew and I was left disappointed. I really like coming here and ordering at the counter, it's a nice change when you want to keep it simple. The food is consistently good for all the Asian specialties they have though I tend to favor the Korean food here. Bibimbap is served hot in the stone bowl; love the crispness of the rice and that you can control the spice. Veg is very fresh and egg cooked perfectly. The tofu soup is good but can be a little too spicy for me. I had omurice (spelling?) on my last visit and it was a great dish as well. Egg was perfect and the rice/veg was delicious inside. I've seen this served with more of a brown savory sauce in other places but here it was served with ketchup which was okay and it was designed beautifully but too much ketchup was a bit sweet for me. Oh and let me not forget the condiments they offer with Korean dishes. Some of these are really tasty treats like the kimchi, pickled daikon and my favorite potato which I'm not sure what it's called but it's lightly seasoned with a red chili oil and has the nicest flavor and texture. read more

Came there for dinner with my friend. They offer 10% discount for student with student ID. My friend used her student ID couple times and this time they decided not to take it because it doesn't have an expiration date on it. ( I am sure not all student ID has expiration date) The cashier look her school up online and said private school doesn't count. ( I can't believe they searched about her information. I am sure her school registered with the State. He was telling us that he studies at Rutgers for five years and his student id has expiration date on it. I graduated from Rutgers I know exactly how it looks like!!) They gave us an unpleasant look!!! Very Disrespectful!!!! I felt we were being discriminated. If you can't decide which Asian cuisine, this is the combo place to go to. They seem to have everything from Korean, to Chinese to semi-Japanese food all in one place. FYI, the restaurant does seem more Korean in the basis overall, but it is well balanced and have plenty of menu choices. It's still definitely Asian food at the end, and less of Western influence in taste. It's in a cul-de-sac next to the Princeton Junction train station. The restaurant has a traditional service side or a self-service side. The restaurant is ran like a traditional Korean cafe on the self-service side, with the buzzer to get your meal. My friends and I usually go on that side to eat at our own pace. The atmosphere is friendly, clean and easy-going. Food was fresh, plenty in size and definitely one of the more affordable restaurants in the area. The combo meal is a good solution if you can't decide or want to try a variety of their dishes. This is closer to 2.5. It's the only place with Korean food in West Windsor. Overall, there are pluses and minuses and I'll keep coming back occasionally since Edison's too far. The standard is generally okay - kimchi soup, tofu soup, miso soup, etc. However, there have been orders where the soups have been terrible. I've had the seafood soup a few times and while pricier it's never been bad. The black bean noodles are again good enough to order but nothing to write home about. Same with the glass noodles. They have KFC - Korean Fried Chicken - and it's usually been too heavy on the sauce. Word of caution: the take-out is generally not good. I'd recommend eating in. BYOB. Last note, the service can definitely use improvement. The staff, while they mean well, is young and incredibly awkward. Service should be easy, polite, light banter, etc. Some of them try, but most of them fail like how most of them will fail on first dates. The restaurant is pretty, so we were really excited for the food. Self-serve, so you order at the counter and then get a pager for when you're food is up. We were the only two people in the restaurant, and it still took twenty minutes to get our food (two rolls and a miso soup, which was cold because they put it out way before the rolls were ready and just left it sitting there instead of bringing it over or telling us it was ready). Just the best Asian food around. The waiters are friendly, there's a good hum of conversation in the dining room, and it's BYOB. Their custom sushi rolls (especially the spider roll) are excellent. The menu is just enormous, and everything I've tried so far has been great. I'm a huge fan of their "two halves" meals, which are sort of like bento boxes. They bring out a big tray with salad, two pieces of sushi, an egg roll, and then half servings of any two dishes you choose. It's great, because sometimes a single order can be too much to finish. It's in an unusual location next to the Princeton Junction train station. When you come in, you go up to a takeout counter with seats, or you can wait to go to the back dining room, which has table service. The decor inside is great, and they seem to take the aesthetics of the restaurant very seriously. There are nice hardwood floors and a flat-panel TV showing you photographs of the food on their menu. Also great is that they're open until at least 10PM every day of the week. They have a great online ordering interface, too. Only thing they're missing is delivery service. read more

Solid place in the area to get food. You can either eat upstairs and have no server or eat downstairs with service. My favorite part is the starters that are always provided downstairs free of charge. There's always 4-5 items provided. Some may be a stretch for you to try, but definitely do so! JUSSST KIDDING...dont go here! Today I placed a lunch order, but then shortly after (and I mean within less than two minutes time) I decided to call and change it to a different item. The girl I talked to had a HUGE attitude problem. Without even putting me on hold, she started to comaplain to who I assume is the manager about how I suddenly changed my mind and how it was "really rude" that I did so. Then she so rudely informed me that the order couldnt be changed because my original meal was already in the process of being cooked (which I highly doubt, but whatever). I told her that me re-ordering within such a short time frame shouldnt be an issue and that I was simply going to cancel my order completely. Will not be coming here again, not worth the headache. I had no idea this place existed until my very good Korean friend brought me a few days ago. And all I have to say is "no wonder all the Koreans love this place!" First off, it's very affordable. Most dishes are a few dollars cheaper than rivaling asian restaurants. They have Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc. all of which taste amazing. Kind of a weird experience - tried to order from one part of the counter and was required to walk six steps to another part of the counter, then thought we had agreed on dine in and they packed up our food to go and we weren't in the mood for arguing about it once the food came out. plus the bulgogi as part of the entree combo didn't come with rice - to me, the whole point of bulgogi is meat and rice - maybe it was noted on the menu and I missed it, or maybe I shouldn't assume rice accompanies things that seem like they go with rice. Turns out there was a technology glitch and once they restarted the computer it came up. We had to wait for our food to be made, which didn't take more than 10 minutes. However I was disappointed with the service because they weren't apologetic and didn't offer any service for the inconvenience.
