YUMMY IN MY TUMMY!! ***Located INSIDE 99 RANCH MARKET!** So I'm surprised this place doesn't have it's own yelp page yet, because this place is a total hidden gem. I actually shouldn't be writing a review because now the line will be longer than ever. Forgive me lover! So the only reason why I know of this place is because lover says he always sees a long line, out the door for breakfast on the weekends. He's eaten here for lunch but never for breakfast. So we wanted to check this place out and see what the hoopla was all about. The first time was 2 weeks ago and we came close to lunch. Good and bad? The food was 1. Amazing, delicious, tasty! 2. It was hella cheap. The bad was that we came so late that there wasn't much left. But whatever was left, was again... YUMMY!! We had: -fried dumpling 4 stars -green onion pancake 4 stars -leek pocket 4.5 sars! -salted soybean 5 stars!! My ultimate favorite of those dishes is the salted soybean "drink". I've had others before where they make it sweet soybean milk or tofu desserts but never salted soybean. This is the second place where I've had this and this totally blew me away! Even lover who's accustomed to this type of dish says this place makes excellent salted soybean drink. So to describe it, it has chunks of tofu, with tiny diced pickled cabbage, dried shredded pork, and my favorite is the crunchy crullers. It has good depth, seasoned well, and my favorite, EXTREMELY affordable!! So I can go on and on about the delicious food they cook here but then you'll be here forever. **Also Warning! Please don't look at the pictures I took because it isn't very easy on the eyes. The food is not aesthetically pleasing on the eyes but don't let that fool you! That's why I say if you're willing to be adventurous and try new food, this is something worth trying. I've been back for a second time and it was still good. Muy Bueno!!!

Asked for half half of rice and noodles. 3-entree combo came with soup

5 Stars because the portions were huge, price is very affordable, and it was delicious. My boyfriend and I came here to get some snacks and then I wanted Chinese food so he and I decided to take a look. We both eat a lot, but nonetheless, the 3-entree combo was more than enough. We were both surprised when we saw her dumping in huge amounts. Too much that the 3rd side choice was put in a separate container. And it comes with a little cup of soup! I think it was all around $7.50 with tax. Pretttyyyy nice. Definitely coming again when we are craving some fast food Chinese food. Hehe

Affordable! 2 item combo is only $5.99 plus tax. If you're in a rush and want something fast or you want to be nice to your wallet then this is the place to come. I often come here inside of the BBQ express in sam woo (next door) because gourmet kitchen takes credit cards! Food is usually good and they give you a lot of different choices. Besides entrees, they also have breakfast as well if you come early in the morning. 4 stars because they close pretty early and some of the employees have attitudes. Nevertheless, it's a place to go when you want affordable and fast Chinese food. A lot more authentic then Panda Express that's for sure!

The first time was lunch time during the week for a party of four. It seemed like there was only one lady running the floor and despite not being very busy, it was a loooong lunch. She was apologetic as they were short staffed. The food was fine but service was absent. The second time was a banquet celebration. We had a sectioned off space in the back and the place is literally falling apart. We were warned about the loose/missing tiles on the floor. That experience also took way longer, despite having a preset menu ordered in advance. Again, the place seemed very short staffed and they weren't very busy in the main dining area. Not sure if we will return given our recent experiences. Others in our party have commented how it's gone down hill.

There is a sign that says "please wait to be seated" written on the host stand when you enter. You stand there and wait, and no one checks in on you. We ended up walking intthe restaurant to flag a server down to be seated. Mind you, half the restaurant was empty. We were seated and did not receive menus until almost 10 minutes later. Food was 2/5. Prices are now about $7 for a tin of dim sum items. Hardly worth the price. Sadly, we will not be returning anymore.

The cost adjustment hasn't changed a thing about how much I love coming here, because the quality of the food consistently speaks for itself. Their namesake dumplings are always fantastic, boasting perfectly thin wrappers and incredibly flavorful fillings that never disappoint. The rest of the menu is packed with standout dishes that keep me hooked. I always look forward to the cold tofu skin salad, which provides a wonderfully refreshing and textured start to the meal. Their XO green beans are easily the best green beans in the game--snappy, deeply savory, and packed with that rich, umami punch. To top it all off, the tender braised beef with quail eggs is completely delectable, especially when paired with a fresh bowl of white rice to soak up all of that rich, savory sauce. Despite the higher price tag, the exceptional execution across the entire menu makes every visit completely worth it.

I didn't realize how big the portions are, because we definitely had a ton of leftovers. I would say we had 0 misses -- we would order everything again. We came for early dinner and the place was pretty empty so I was able to get a full video clip of the restaurant. We ordered our usual beef rolls, scallion pancakes, and beef noodles. The beef noodles with eggs was the first dish to show up. It's slightly salty for my taste, otherwise it's decent. The scallion pancakes were very layered, probably one of the best looking ones we've ordered. The beef rolls were also one of the nicest presentations I've seen. They were perfectly wrapped and not a single green onions or cilantro fell off. Service was excellent. Granted there was only one wait staff but he was very attentive and observant. I saw a black dot on my plate, he immediately went to get a new plate for me without me asking. He constantly came to check on us and add more water. Overall, it was OK. It does have a huge variety of selection. Next time I would like to try more dishes and maybe skewers too.

It's about time I reviewed them! My number one dish goes to the minced pork rice- it's a pretty simple dish, but it's sooo good here for some reason. I've ordered this dish at other Taiwanese restaurants and nothing compares to the one at A&J- the pork is always SO flavorful, never dry and enough to coat all the rice, the egg is perfection, and all the little garnishes compliment the dish so well. It's also just as amazing takeout which I always appreciate. Other go-tos are the spicy beef noodle soup- the beef in it is always so tender and I love getting the thick noodle option because of the rough texture it adds. Beef roll and pan fried dumplings are always a good option for sharing. Have tried a lot of things on their menu and nothing so far has disappointed!

This has long been our go-to for Taiwanese comfort food, and while the flavors weren't always 100% authentic, they hit the spot. However, our recent visits have been disappointing. The restaurant has become incredibly "penny-pinching" with their service. I was recently told there would be a $1 charge just for a sprinkle of scallions and another $1 for a small side of clear broth for my dry noodles--requests that were never an issue before. Furthermore, when we ordered extra noodles for my son's beef noodle soup, the original portion seemed intentionally smaller, defeating the purpose of paying for the add-on. Between the degraded service and the "nickel-and-diming" atmosphere, it is no longer worth the 30-minute drive. The vibe has changed, and the pleasure of dining here is gone.
