The day after Hurricane Irma hit two restaurants were open on Fleming Island, Asian House and La Nopalera. Rumor had it that La Nop had a 2 hour wait so I headed over to Asian House to check it out. When I arrived they had a very, very limited menu (they ran out of food not long after) and estimated it would be an hour wait for fried rice and wonton soup. The woman working was patient and friendly. When I ordered I asked for a diet Coke (they have a cooler of bottled drinks) and she told me to just grab one for free because of the wait. During the hour plus wait she encouraged people numerous times to get free drinks while they waited. The food was very good (well above average for a Chinese take out place) and I've been told their entire menu is delicious. I've heard people ranting and raving about this place on Facebook so I finally decided to try it. I was very very very pleasantly full. I think they should move somewhere bigger because within ten minutes of being there every little table was full. It's a quaint small spot with AMAZING service and delicious food ! The sushi was down right super and fresh. My dad said he loved his entree but I don't remember what he got. The owners are such dolls and I can't wait to go back ! There isn't one thing about this place I didn't like. Even the bathroom was clean and comfortable. I finally found a place where I don't have to go to hibachi to get good sushi and a place I can get my regular Chinese food. Two birds one stone. BAM. After all the raving reviews on Facebook, we had to try this place! A variety of Chinese, Thai, and Sushi we are SO HAPPY with our experience that this will be our new go-to for sushi and Asian food in Fleming Island. My husband reported it's a tiny restaurant with a sushi bar and only 3-4 tables, so take out is their primary business. Hopefully one day they'll expand to a full fledged restaurant. We ordered 6 sushi rolls + Shrimp Pad Thai and with the coupon, got a free Krab Rangoon. Upon picking up our order, we were given a "Chef's Special." I truly wish I knew the name because I'd order it again! Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, one had krab and I'm fairly certain another had pork. I didn't realize until later that the meats were different. There was a tempura aspect to it - but it was AMAZING! The Krab Rangoon is your run-of-the-mill-takeout, however this one I felt had more filling (of cream cheese and krab) than I had experienced at other places. We were given a side of Sweet 'n Sour sauce as well , which complimented it well. All our sushi was absolutely amazing. We tried the....Tampa, Red Cafe, Ocean, Volcano, Kiss of Fire, and Incredible. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the latter. I'm all about spicy tuna based, and most of these are. Nothing was too spicy - my 9 year old enjoyed them all! We were pleased with the Pad Thai as well. The shrimp sauce is light in color, but delicious. The sweetest part of our experience, was that when my husband picked up our order the lady who took our order and brought my husband our food, asked for his number and permission to call us later in the evening for a follow up. This spot is a small space with most business getting take out. Yet there are 3 tables and seating at the sushi bar inside if you choose to dine in, as we did. Coming in just before the lunch rush. A lot of takeaway business for sure and the other tables filled in right away. The staff inside is super friendly. We asked for Egg Foo Yung which isn't on the menu and they happily made some for us. It was very good as well and I especially like the gravy which was made on the spot. Deep brown and very savory. There's plenty to choose from and we opted for lunch special Chicken with mixed vegetables ($7.25) and the lunch special Panang curry chicken ($7.99) each comes with choice of egg roll or soup. We opted for the clear soup, much like the type served in a Japanese setting. I will note, the soup is more of a wonton broth with thin slice mushroom and green onion. Still very good. The dishes we ordered were also very good. My curry was very good, not spicy though it is marked as so. Tender chicken and vegetables topped with peanuts. There's a little bit of everything for everyone. We tried the place twice before reviewing. Pros: nice people, good service, and your food is hot when you pick it up. However, all the food we tried was only average. We tried their sushi, pad thai, szechuan chicken, cashew chicken, egg rolls, and crab rangoon. There was no sweetness to the rice in the sushi, the cucumbers were julienned and it was not an appealing texture. The egg rolls were VERY greasy, there was one end that was drenched in oil. I blotted the roll and oil was still running down ny hand. Everything else was cooked well and there were fresh veggies, but it was one note and bland. In my opinion, trying to serve a bit of everything, but not excelling at anything. They are nice people, I hope they find their groove. However, it's not for us and we're still looking for good Chinese food on the island. read more

We ordered online and let them know that there was a shellfish allergy and they called to make sure which items had the shellfish allergy which I really appreciated because I know of many restaurants that would not have cared. They also seemed to be taking precautions for covid-19 which makes me happy because I feel safe eating there. The food was really good. I got the salmon and cream cheese sushi and I loved it! Originally came to Fleming Island to go to Siagon Bistro, but they have changed their hours to only dinner. Since we were already in this location I decided to Yelp and look for something similar to the previously anticipated cuisine. This place is quaint to say the least, bright interior with 3-four tops and bar seating for four customers. The menu is very full, almost overwhelming. They offer mostly Chinese and sushi with minimal Thai dishes. There is a daily special up on the board when you come inside and they have lunch portions during the weekday lunch time. They offer limited bottled soft drinks in a small cooler. The service was prompt and with a smile! Nothing fancy, paper plates and styrofoam cups with plastic tableware (which is a negative to me). Today it is very chilly inside this restaurant, BRING your sweater. We started with pork gyosa. It was served piping hot with sauce, tasted good but not as crunchy as I would've liked. Next I had chicken lo mein, a general item, and my assessment, it was ordinary. The noodles were a bit doughy and greasy, the chicken was tender and I had them add vegetables which were cooked perfect. The server brought us a sample of rangoon, which was very typical as well. My husband's dish however, was very good. He ordered the "amazing" with beef and shrimp. Curry coconut Thai dish served with white rice, added a bit of spice tho this dish and it was perfect. To finalize, I would not make a special effort to come here considering I live in North Jax, but if I lived close by I would order the Thai dishes. read more
