How can there be a top 100 restaurant in Indianapolis that I don't know about? I saw that Asian Smack was on Yelp's Top 100 Chinese restaurants. So we jumped in the car and found our way down to the address, which is inside Sagara Market. It's a food stand inside the market! And it's on the top 100 list? It's far from upscale or fancy. The clerk is friendly and tells us to look at the menu. The meals look different from the usual options at my local carry-out. I hear the noodles are made fresh so I asked for something with noodles and the clerk recommends the Beef Noodle Soup. And I also order the Garlic Eggplant. She tells us to sit. There are a couple tables. A huge bowl of soup comes out in about 10 minutes. She brings two smaller bowls for us to share the soup. The soup is filled with beautiful noodles, beef and bok choy. The soup is hot, spicy and delicious and not salty. We love it. The Garlic Eggplant comes out soon after as is super hot with white rice on the side. The eggplant is soft, spicy and flavorful. This is the best eggplant dish that I've ever had. There's way too much food for two people, so I get a to-go box. On my way out, I grabbed a Chinese pancake (stuffed with green onion) to go. The pancake is kind of a hand pie. It's tasty. So the food is a definite 5 stars. The service is super friendly, but basic. The atmosphere, well let's just say that there's a definite street vibe. I'm guessing most people pick up to-go. The parking lot is atrocious - an ice covered mess. I'm still giving Asian Snack a 5 stars it is the best Chinese that I've had in Indiana, for sure. But you've got to look past the food stand, grocery store and parking lot to get to the 5 stars.

When a quick decision ends up being a good one. Had heard about this place on Yelp. Was in the area and decided to give it a try. My pork dish was delicious. Very spicy but not too much for me. Took beef noodle soup to go. Daughter praised it as close to one we got in San Diego. Not a fan of the water fountain thing, but I get it. I will return!

Stopped in with family and we tried a little bit of everything. The har gow was fresh and not too sticky, and the egg tarts were warm and flaky. I loved the variety every dish felt unique and flavorful. The carts kept coming around with lots of options. Staff was friendly and explained a couple dishes we hadn't tried before. It got crowded pretty fast but they handled it well. Would definitely come back for another weekend brunch.

Huge beef noodle for 10 dollars price. The amount of beef in the bowl is a lot too. This broth has a mix of chili oil but I think most of people can handle this low level of spicy. The noodle is different than ramen noodle if you are ramen fan. It's more soft and not chewy as much. Give it a try ! Ps. They have Chinese snacks too. Try check it out over the weekend.

Spicy fish soup. The broth was excellent!

This place has been on my list for a LONG time and I finally tried it! I wish I had looked at more pictures on Yelp to help guide me with ordering. I asked the gentlemen taking orders what he recommended, but his dominant language was not English and he had a difficult time understanding me. A very kind customer came over for a few minutes to try and help translate and he actually recommended a few things. We ordered the spicy fish soup, steak buns, pork sandwich and the bean cake. The spicy fish soup was my favorite out of everything we ordered. There are many other interesting things I would like to try. I wish they had a menu with descriptions of each item to make it easier to order.

As a Chinese person, I will say this is very authentic! Great food and very large portions. The cook is very friendly and love to chat with you. The service is awesome, giving the vibe of family own small restaurant. Very recommended!! Get the JianBing and Baozi!

After not being able to travel for so long, we made a little trip to Saraga Market. The international grocery store offers fruits, veggies, snacks, meats, cheeses, teas and candies from around the world. It's awesome. It also as a little Chinese restaurant in the front of the grocery. Asian Snack is literally a hole in the wall in this grocery store. When we stopped by, there were tons of handmade buns set out that looked really beautiful. I ordered the fried beef noodles and we only had to wait for about ten minutes. The noodles and sauce were supppppper good and didn't hurt my stomach from too much oil. Check! The beef however was super fatty to the point that there were chunks of fat. I ended up eating just the noodles and still enjoyed it alot. I'd choose a different meat if you're ordering the dish.

    Spicy steamed fish soup- Fantastic!

This place is located inside Saraga International grocery store, right across from the produce section. I ordered the spicy fish soup which came with a generous portion of perfectly cooked rice. The soup wasnt too spicy. Nowhere close to even a serrano level but just enough to give it a kick. Its loaded with veggies that werent overcooked. Highly recommend. The chive pancake was loaded with chives, cooked well. It had a bit of a seafood flavor IMO, FYI. Their hot chili oil is fantastic!!! Not too spicy, crisp chili, and you can taste the addition of herbs. They put the oil, soy, vinegar, salt, and sugar on each table and theres a water cooler for customers to help themselves. Great customer service.

Visited with my family on a Monday night. Initially, locating the restaurant was a bit confusing as the GPS directed us to the international market. However, we soon discovered that the restaurant was actually located inside the market. Once inside, we found an authentic and no-frills atmosphere with small seating arrangements. Decor: simple decor and small seating. The yelp pictures look like its a bigger restaurant but currently it only has a table that seats 4 and a bench that can seat 12 Service: We received friendly and accommodating service from the staff, who were attentive and provided helpful suggestions. Food Presentation: Dishes arrived very quickly. The chinese pancake was prepared in front of us Food Taste: We ordered the chinese pancake with fried dough stick, mapo tofu, and hot and sour rice noodle. everything tasted authentic and tasty.

This is a small, hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant inside Saraga market. It's by no means fancy but the food is authentic, super tasty, and come in generous portion sizes. We usually get takeout but they offer a few dine-in tables as well. Our favorite thing to get here is the griddled fish slices - fragrant and intensely flavorful. This dish is executed excellently and always a home run. All you need with it is hot white rice *chefs kiss*. The other dish we got this time was the grilled lamb with cumin. They definitely don't skimp on the spices with this one! The lamb isn't gamey at all and the accompanying onions and green bell peppers were a great combo. The mapo tofu is also delicious here. They add quite a bit of peppercorn which makes it tasty but also potentially overwhelming for those who aren't used to it. Overall, this humble spot is a great option for authentic Chinese cuisine. Highly recommend the griddled fish, that dish has always delivered for us! They also make homemade pastries with fillings like red bean, meat-filled pancakes, breakfast crepes, and silken tofu as well. Lots of great options!

    Steam buns are cold.
    JOEY Z.

The location is hard to find, in a supermarket, not strictly a food court, the price of the food is acceptable, the taste is not pure Chinese food, but modified using local tastes. The only thing I didn't like was that the steamed buns were cold, like they came out of the fridge and I needed to heat them up to eat them.

Best authentic Chinese restaurant in Indiana! Amazing food at reasonable price you won't get disappointed on any dishes

Steamed fish with chili oil OMG! So good!!!

The service was very helpful deciding what to order. The setting was fun down town indanopolis feel. The lobster roll was definitely the standout. It was packed with fresh, flavorful lobster and had a nice balance of buttery richness without feeling too heavy. You can tell the seafood is high quality, which makes a huge difference. The lobster deviled eggs were super unique and honestly one of my favorite bites. Creamy, slightly tangy, and topped with lobster--it's not something you see everywhere, and they executed it really well. My husband tried the shrimp burrito, which was great for a seafood spot. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and filled generously. It didn't feel like an afterthought on the menu. To finish, the cheesecake was a great choice it was from the cheesecake factory is what the offered for my birthday smooth, rich, and just the right level of sweetness with a strawberry topping to end the meal without being overwhelming. Overall, Slap's Fish Market delivers on both creativity and quality. It's a great spot if you want fresh seafood with a few fun, unexpected twists. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

I feel like most seafood places will have vegetarian options by way of removing the fish from pasta dishes or salad, but it's also nice to know that you can get chicken as a substitute on most of these kinds of dishes, too. Granted, it's just like chicken tenders, but still good nonetheless. I really like their firecracker pasta, which is moderately spicy in my opinion. There's no particular fishy smell here, which is always a good sign that the seafood they serve here is freshly prepared. Our food always comes out quickly for lunch and we've been a group as large as 8 or 9. I do believe that ordering is mostly done online in their mass Ave location, though. I don't really seek out a place like Slapfish on my own (no offense at all, just not a seafood girlie!!), but I would assume that it's a rather popular establishment as they recently opened a fifth location in the greater Indy area. If I did like fish and such more, I'd probably be here on a more regular rotation.
