Be careful when booking a dentist appointment. they advertise a "regular cleaning" for only $29, so you book thinking you're actually getting your teeth cleaned. But when you get there, they only do an exam to check what's wrong with your mouth, they don't do the cleaning, and they still charge you the $29. read more

After the aforementioned visit and review, I must issue this follow up. I started experiencing sharp pain and swelling after about a week. This lasted for about 4 months. It was obvious that Dr Sutton did not do the greatest work that I praised him for. The pain and swelling that started soon after were very small pieces of my tooth that shattered and stayed lodged in the socket. The pain and swelling was my body's natural way of trying to rid itself of a foreign object. Yes as the pain go worse, I would be back in the mirror and with tweezers I would have to remove another piece of tooth fragment that was trying to move on it's own. Sharp incredible pain until I pulled it out and then immediate pain relief as soon as I got it out. This went on for months after the initial procedure until all pieces were removed. Called the emergency number on a Sunday to get in after my crown broke (from another dentist in different state) as I was in pain, woman on the phone was able to see the schedule for all locations and got me an appt first thing on Monday. Get to appt, X-rays examination etc... then "you can come back for a consultation about your crown" excuse me? WTF? This "emergency appt" was for the crown. Dr (who is 12) tells me "well I'm not sure there is time to see you about the crown, I have to check with the office manager." Now I'm back in the waiting room waiting for another appt for the crown I came in for. They take me back again, take impressions and make a temporary. Then I have to "speak to the office manager" who holds me hostage in her office trying to sell Invisalign. To which I replied, I just want to pay for my CROWN. I was already telling my husband find a different dentist you absolutely don't want to come to this one. Fast forward 3 months, second crown (from out of state dentist) breaks. Call emergency line... woman asks if I'm existing patient I said yes. She tells me she can't see any schedules and I have to wait to call the office when the open and then HUNG UP ON ME. I'm guessing the only accommodate emergency appointments for new patients so they can get you in and hold you hostage for more money. read more

North Smithfield I went in to fix a tooth that they originally fixed. spent over 2 hours there getting all these X-rays that I didn't need nor want. one of the ladies using a plastic wand looking scanner for your mouth kept bashing it into the tooth that's broke. after all the bullshit I'm told they have to do a crown it's not fixable with a filling and they price was 1800 bucks out of pocket. walked out. went to another dentist explained that happened and they were able to fix it with a filling.. Aspen lied. Aspen made me feel like a number. they are all about money and not for their customers. I felt like I was at a car dealership. Very disappointed with them and I will never return. I recently visited aspen dental in north Smithfield Rhode Island. I filled out the information in their website and I was going in because I had cracked a molar and was it pain. I got an appointment the next day. when I arrived I waited only 15 minutes and was taken in for about 15 x-rays by two different employees then brought to an exam room. then the dental hygienist examined my teeth and recommended I get three cleaning per year. when I finally saw the dentist it was recommended that I get a periodontal cleaned (2 visits to complete) then have all fillings removed and replaced a tooth I have no issue with removed and two implants a crown put on broken tooth but that might not work so week try and possibly have to pull it and go with another implant. then that I should get Invisalign and teeth whitenin. I was then taken to an office to speak with the manager who told me this would cost me over $7000 after my dental insuranc. I left with a broken tooth in pain as I showed up after two and a half hours of them trying to scare me into agreeing with their plan to help me. what a joke worst experience ever. read more

Again appointment was 930am didn't get in chair until 945am and it's now 1028am doctor still hasn't come in. I'm leaving. Sent email at advice of tech who was the only positive one there have never gotten a response and office manager ( who was a receptionist now is the salesperson. YIKES) and front desk receptionist barely look up to grunt hello. Will go to another office from now on. Nothing has changed in 5 years. I am not a person who writes reviews, especially not bad ones - typically, if I have a problem with a business, I just go elsewhere next time. But after my experience here I feel like I have a duty to warn other people about this place. I went here for the first time a few weeks ago, after recently moving into the area. I hadn't been to the dentist in 2-3 years, primarily due to Covid. I went into the office because I had wisdom tooth pain. Everyone at my first visit was nice and professional, although it did feel a bit rushed. After the x-rays and other imaging were done, I was told that both my bottom two wisdom teeth were impacted and needed to come out asap. This was pretty much what I was expecting. I decided I wanted my top two out at the same time (they were nudging me in that direction, and I decided I didn't want to go through this process again if the teeth started giving me trouble in the future). I went to the consultation desk to set up an appointment for surgery. The woman told me she could get me in within the next two weeks for their earliest opening. I booked the appointment. She handed me an estimate for $3500 and asked how much I could put down today. I asked her how much they require. She said usually 50%. That should have been my first red flag, but since I was so thankful I could get in so soon, I said fine, I can pay that today. She offered to put together a "payment plan" for me but I declined. I generally don't trust payment plans and I was fortunate enough to have enough in emergency savings to pay for the procedure. I asked her up front if dental insurance would make a difference in this price, as by the time of surgery I would have active dental insurance from my new job. She told me yes, insurance would make a difference. That made me feel better about the whole thing. I paid the deposit, was given instructions for surgery, and left. I figured out when I got home that my insurance should cover about $1500 of the procedure. The day of surgery arrived and I came to my appointment a few minutes early as instructed. I signed in and the receptionist told me the remainder of my balance was due prior to surgery, as I was undergoing sedation and wouldn't be able to pay afterwards. I handed her my insurance information and asked if she wanted to input it, and then asked if I am supposed to pay them now and Blue Cross would reimburse me, or if my costs for today will just be lower with the insurance. She was unsure, so she brought my information back and asked a few other people at the desk. One of them then came up to me and informed me that their "surgeon doesn't participate in that," and that the procedure wouldn't be covered at all. All he could say was, "Sorry about that." I'm not sure if he meant their surgeon doesn't participate in Blue Cross specifically (this would be the first medical professional I've seen who doesn't accept Blue Cross), or if he doesn't participate in ANY insurance. Either way I should have been told this information when I asked about insurance upon booking the appointment. I had to pay the entire cost of the surgery up front - instead of being $2000 like I calculated with insurance coverage, I had to pay the full $3500. I considered saying, "Forget it then," but they no doubt would have kept my $1700 deposit since I cancelled last minute, and I really did need my teeth out. The surgery itself seemed to go smoothly, but it was obvious they wanted me out of there as fast as possible. They didn't take much time to make sure I felt comfortable and the surgeon didn't say anything to me other than greeting me and letting me know that the medicine they were giving me would be relaxing me in about 20 seconds. The procedure was quick. The nurse who gave me discharge instructions afterwards was probably the only good part of the experience. She was kind, professional, and was able to answer questions. All in all, I don't have any qualms (thus far) with the surgery. But I feel extremely duped by their staff and I would have a hard time trusting them again. I won't be returning to Aspen, and if you choose to take your business there I would urge you to ask questions, keep receipts, and be very very careful. read more

This had to have been the worst experience of my life. The dentist and his assistant were very unprofessional. I went in for a filing and I asked about veneers and they gave me an attitude. Would not answer any of my questions. All they were concerned about was cleaning my teeth and filling then pushing me out for the next CUSTOMER. I did not feel like a patient at all. All they seemed to care about was and on sales and fleecing my wallet. The assistant was very rude and condescending. I will never use Aspen Dental again. If these are the types of people they hire ( Salter School Graduates ) with no people skills I recommend all who think about the North Smithfield location to avoid this location at all costs. Hello, I think Aspen Dental in North Smithfield RI was incredible neglectful. Just a bit of history, I have debilitating Anxiety and Depression I am a diagnosed Agoraphobic for a total of 17 years of not leaving my house. My teeth were rotting and I kept getting abscesses I had to go. This place caused me endless Anxiety, Depression and lots of sleepless nights. I wanted to go to the best and fastest Dentist for getting my teeth pulled and getting new false teeth. Aspin Dental is always on Television ads claiming that dentures were their specialty. they where fast and I would walk out the same day with dentures. The first day 6/6/2019 they took x rays set me up with an appointment to have all the top teeth pulled. The 3rd appointment they took a mold of my top gums. The next appointment I got new dentures. They didn't fit right every time! I would bite down they would jet out causing about an inch of an overbite and the middle front teeth were off to the right. It took like 15 appointments trying to fit my dentures correctly. Finally they figured out that was the problem! They had to pull my 2 bottom wisdom teeth. That was why my teeth kept jetting out of my mouth The last time I went 6/10/2022 they told me that my bones had reseeded and I could no longer use dentures all I could do was to get the new tooth implants ($2000-$3000 a tooth) and that they were sorry. They never even took the time to tell me that this was possible! I'm on disability so I couldn't pay for them. I took a big handful of pain pills 3 times. Next time I'll take a handful of high blood presser medication and wait for my heart to explode. read more

Worst place ever. Went in for a free exam and X-rays and they proceed the tell me that I have gum disease, saying it'll be at least 2000 to fix everything, cause at the time I didn't have insurance. They then signed me up for a credit card to "pay my expenses on". When I finally got insurance I went to a dentist in my town and when they did my exam and xrays they found nothing wrong with my gums. I would give this office less then 1 star if I could. I had a terrible toothache one night, the next morning I called this office and spoke to a very nice young lady and asked her what are the chances of me coming in for a walk in today? She replied I can come in at 9:15am because they have an opening. I get there at 9:10, I TRY to check in but the receptionist states I had no appt because someone else had that slot (apparently the call center added someone in). Eventually I get seen as a walk in, the wait wasn't long neither I might've waited 15 mins tops. The dentists comes in after taking X-rays and he SPECIFIES that I need to have an extraction of my wisdom and that's what's causing my pain. Barely spends 3 mins in the room and then heads out. Prescribed me pain meds (which I was allergic to but we'll get to that later) and antibiotics. I head out to see the finance lady and she tells me in order to even schedule this extraction I need to pay 60% of $1,659. . Who is ever prepared to pay that on the spot?!? Who??? So she then proceeds to ask me how am I going to pay I tell her I'm not since I didn't come prepared to spend that much. She then asks me for a copy of my credit card to "put on file" and it won't be charged until the appt. I decline again because I wasn't sure which card I was going to use if I did come back!! She's then very hesitant about keeping my appt. and ask if I want to do the cleaning first and then I can pay then. I agreed because that sounded more reasonable. That's the number one reason I will never go back. For you to think that's ok to interrogate me for money like that while I'm in excruciating pain is absurd. Next thing- I find out that night that I'm having an allergic reaction to the pain meds (I had itchy feet like crazy, heart palpitations and I couldn't sleep at all) and I knew it wasn't the antibiotics because I've taken those before, the narcotic I've never taken so I was pretty sure and I reacted almost instantly. I call the office that following Monday, since they're closed sundays. I inform the girl who answered (toya I believe) of my reaction and she chuckles and ask if I want her to tell the Dr???? Ummmm yeah I do!!! I tell her I need that documented on my chart and to let me know what the dr wants to do. She calls me back and says he's going to call in another rx into my pharmacy provided and they'll doc it in my chart... cool. I go to my pharmacy. THERES NO RX! I call the office the same girl proceeds to apologize and stated "it's just been so crazy in here and I completely forgot to inform you that since it's a narcotic you'll need to pick it up or we can call you in an ibuprofen" .....???? My point is why wasn't I inform of picking it up during the first phone call? Why didn't any one call me back? I left work early to handle these things and you're telling me you're too busy to tend your pts outside the office? How is that my problem? And why am I being charged for an extraction that my insurance should be paying for. Long story short (not really) I ended up going else where come to figure out that my pain isn't from my wisdom tooth!!! thanks aspen for a waste of my time and insurance. Had an emergency appointment got in same day. I didn't think the tooth could be saved but DR said tooth could be saved with root canal. They scheduled for first thing next morning. I have not had very good experiences with other dentists because I am hard to get numb. I usually get gas because I get anxiety after a previous dentist continued to drill when I wasn't numb. This practice doesn't d offer gas but was in a lot of pain and other offices couldn't fit me in due to covid. Dr Sutton was very patient and completed all of my root canal but final crown so I didn't have several visits.(this was great because I had to drive an hour to get same day appt) Staff and assistant very friendly and let me know exactly what my cost would be without any hidden surprises. I was surprised to see that this location didn't get better reviews Dr Sutton and staff were great! read more

I had not been to the office since they messed up my April 2016 appointment (office closed, they did not reschedule, I showed up). I had an 8:45 appointment today. The lack of communication and poor attitude was incredible. At 9:30am, after sitting in the examination room for 30 minutes, I asked what was going on. The dentist came in and did his 10 minute check. At 10am I asked who was doing my cleaning only to be told that they would only do a periodontal check. And told "you know, we have other patients". Yes, that hygienist had other patients but WHY SCHEDULE ME FOR AN APPOINTMENT only to make me wait for an 1hr. So you just lost theyost my family of 5. I can take my insurance and go to a better run office. Getting cleanings here is ok, but everything else is terrible. read more

I went in with the worst pain from from an infection. The staff was amazing and they welcomed me as if truly caring for me as a person and not another dollar sign. The dentist himself did not go to lunch and actually chose to help me instead of seeing me an hour later after lunch. He pulled my two infected teeth out and showed lots of compassion for the pain he was sure I'd be in. I wanted to hug the whole staff; especially the dentist on my way out. The medication prescribed in the end helped so much. It actually completely alleviated the pain after the procedure that left me in tears at a Walmart parking lot after the Novacaine wore off as I waited for my prescriptions to be prepared. Honestly wish this office in particular much success and I recommend this dental group to everyone whether you're insured or not. They will help you the best they can as they did for me. My husband had 2 root canals there, and within 6 months both had cracked and needed crowns. The new dentist we started going to said (and I quote) "Wow, they half assed this". I was looking for a great dentist who I can trust (I've had many bad ones where they overcharge you or do work on teeth that don't really need work) and a friend recommended Dr.Kim at Aspen and I'm so glad I found this place. Dr.Kim was not intimidating like most dentist and he was so skilled at his work and gentle. What impressed me the most was that everyone at the office was so friendly and welcoming. Also, they were very punctual. I didn't have to wait at all. Compared to other dental offices, price was very reasonable and I loved the clean facility. I can't speak for other Aspen Dental offices but THIS one was one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had and I highly recommend it! read more

I will never be coming back to this office again. After not being able to have my teeth cleaned due to pregnancy which in itself if ridiculous, I was finally able to be seen in the north Smithfield office for a cleaning which still did not happen. Instead I sat in the waiting room until 40 minutes after my appointment, only to be brought back to have X-rays done and have the workers arguing IN FRONT OF ME about why I was taken before another client who apparently checked in before me but had a later appointment and was also still waiting. I specifically requested a time that the cleaning could be done at the same time as this useless checkup but of course there was no time for this to be done this morning. So I was brought into the office managers office to discuss what my bill will be during the next visit. This absolutely irks me to no end that during every visit I feel like I'm at a used car dealership haggling in an office over treatment plans, Etc. If we had spent half the time that we did discussing how I need to come in more frequently for cleanings (which is your idiotic policy, not mine) I probably could've had my cleaning today. I also enjoyed my time with the rude office manager who did not seem to care that we were told we would have cleanings today. Wow, I really should have read the reviews here first before I went. I had a 3pm appt. I arrived and waited 45 min. I then left, went home and called them and asked if it was my turn yet ! The african American woman behind the counter was very rude. They tried telling me that a NY office scheduled my appt. for 3:15 when I called N. Smithfield direct. Seems they have a big communication problem and can't keep appointments right. Nevertheless, things happen for a reason and after reading the other reviews on here and other Aspen Dental locations, I'm kind of glad i was never seen by a hacker dentist. And who wants another reschedule after appointment after appointment. Do what the customer needs on the first visit. I'm going to try calling corporate to see if i can get a $25 gas card as well. read more

If I could rate this office lower I would. Beginning in July of 2016, I began my visits to Aspen Dental in North Smithfield. Being someone who is afraid of the dentist, I was hesitant on going. I had originally searched for a dentist because I had seen that I had a decent sized cavity in the side of my tooth which was extremely clear. For my first appointment I was going to get the entire right side of my mouth filled which I was told would be between 6- 7 fillings. Soon after the fillings were completed I sat in the finance office with the office manager. They proceeded to tell me that the four hour appointment I had just had was too much for the doctor when I was the one with my out open the entire time. After I had paid for all of my fillings up front I was received a bill in the mail stating that I still owed a substantial amount because they did not clarify my coverage with my insurance before charging me. Once the right side of my mouth was filled I experienced an excessive amount of discomfort and pain that I did not have before. For my next appointment, the lower left side of my mouth was being filled. This consisted of 3 teeth, one of which was the tooth with the visible hole in the side. Before beginning these three fillings, an X-ray was setup to view the teeth that were previously filled. After the X-ray was taken, I was informed that some of these standard fillings that were done at my first filling appointment had to be re-done and once the rest of the fillings were completed. He stated would go back and correct these faults 4 out of the 6 teeth he filled within the four hours to be exact. In his notes regarding that original appointment, he wrote that four out of the six he filled that day had to be refilled at a later time. We proceeded with the fillings for that day. Once he "completed" the fillings he had mentioned that he did not notice the large hole on the side of my tooth and that it would be filled later along with all the others that he had to fix. After this, I had cancelled all of my upcoming filling appointments with Aspen and sought out a second opinion. When I had arrived at my new dentist, she had taken a long look at the X-rays she received from Aspen and truly could not tell whether these were from before or after I had the dental work done. She continued to look at the X-rays and determined that the work that was done was completely substandard and advised me to get a lawyer. Although my teeth had many issues after Dr. Kim's work, I had been informed that none of my cavities were life threatening to the tooth which is not what I was told from Aspen Dental. I was also informed that I did not have as many cavities as Aspen and Dr.Kim had thought. I was advised to get a refund for the work that was not yet completed and also for the work that was done. My new dentist and the dental assistant could not believe the awful work that had been done. I was shown the three X-rays and shown the faults within them. Within one of the fillings there is an air bubble, which I was told could collapse at any time if it is hit too hard. I had also seen that two of my teeth now have missing pieces that were not missing before Dr. Kim had filled my teeth. He had also only filled portions of certain teeth and not the whole thing which needed to be completed. My teeth now do not hold the standard tooth shape, but instead they now hold a square box-like shape. I am currently going through the process of getting my teeth redone and fixing Dr. Kim's unacceptable errors in simple fillings. While going through this process we came across a tooth filled by Dr. Kim that seems to have had moisture in it before he filled it and because of his carelessness. This is most likely going to become a root canal considering the substantial amount of pain I am experiencing. While drilling out Dr. Kims fillings, they seemed to have just popped out, which I was told is probably to the fact that they were obviously don't wrong and were sitting on air pockets. My new dentist had never seen any work of such poor standards .After this experience I decided to get my X-Rays and teeth redone at an office who is capable of doing the work and one who actually cares about their patients. Please learn from my awful mistake and DO NOT waste your time or money at Aspen Dental. read more

Went to Aspen Dental because they were offering free x-rays. I thought I'd take advantage of that offer and have a cleaning. After examining my teeth, the hygienist said I would need a deep cleaning instead of regular dental, which would cost over $1,000. I declined the offer, took my x-rays to my own dentist who said I did not need a deep cleaning. His hygienist cleaned my teeth just as she had done on a regular basis. I've heard that Aspen Dental does this to all the patients who come in for the free x-ray offer. It's just a hook to get you in the door. I have since moved out of MA but would never use this facility again, regardless of where it was located. read more

My review really came as a shock as I normally an content with this Aspen Dental. I went in for my normal check up and was welcomed as normal by my hygienist. Believe me when I say the services are pretty good, but what really made me worry was the way the office manager was speaking to her staff. She was speaking to them as a bully speaks to its victim. The dentistry is advertised as "treating you with the compassion and respect you deserve", but in no way was the office manager reflecting this to her staff. This left a bitter taste in my mouth and now I question the genuineness of this business. read more

I wish I read the reviews before going here. First appointment when really well had X rays done and exam. Second appointment was for a cleaning. I showed up for my appointment they wanted to charge me $200 for the cleaning with insurance. While I'm trying to get an explanation as to why wasn't I told how much I was going to be charged before the appointment. I was told by the person at the front desk that I declined the payment plan they offered and I signed it. Not only a poor explanation but the person did this while they were on the phone with someone else. Very unprofessional. I told them this appointment wasn't going to happen today. Not only did they waste my time, I couldn't grasp how rude the people at the front desk were with the drama talk going on about other patients.
