I went through Costco. Owning a 1953 duplex in Long Beach for a decade, it was time to check my HVAC. The unit was installed by the previous owner and it has worked perfectly for 10 years. I went forward and started with their basic $69 maintenance visit and ended up purchasing the most costly option since it was less expensive to bundle the items that needed to be updated. Victor Salazar was the technician and I couldn't be more impressed and grateful. I asked a ton of questions and followed his every foot step. He entered my attic with ease and even jumped on my second story roof without hesitation. He was honest, thorough, and knowledgeable. Best part...he didn't try to sell me a brand new HVAC system. Today was my appointment and Josh was my technician. Josh was very professional and knowledgeable. He went well above and beyond by not only doing what is included with the regular maintenance, but he also cleaned the air returns, took the time to explain why it is important to run the fan, and check my old water heater. We had a very good experience with Associated today. Our system is only about 4-5 years old but it was time for a routine checkup. (Recommended is every year, but who does that?) Associated was at Costco and offered a discounted tuneup/checkup for both the heating and AC sections. I left my info and they promptly called to make an appt. Their technician, Citlalli, arrived and quickly went to work checking out the inside furnace section. She did a great job checking out the various components that wear over time & then checked voltages and that sort of stuff - and shared that info with me. All were in good shape. She cleaned the outside and inside of the system. While inside the house, she went into the attic a bit and checked on the duct system to see if she could find any damage like tears or holes. Next step was the outside AC system where she checked for electrical & power for any issues and then cleaned the condenser unit. Final check was the thermostat where she did a multi-stage check to insure it was working fine. All good. No heavy upsell (she offered the company's routine maintenance package to check the system twice annually, but I didn't want it.) Citlalli did a great job explaining what she did and why. I now have a new appreciation for some of the components that might need replacement over the years. I will definitely keep Associated in my book in case I have an issue in the future. (Or just for a future repeat tuneup.) read more

This is an outstanding company to do business with. We had them replace our AC and furnace and are very happy with the entire experience and process. Our home is three stories high and they arranged for a crane, got the permits and installed the new equipment in less than a week. After the install, we observed some minor damage to the plaster on the wall around a new air intake they installed. Purchased a new HVAC unit through Costco 7 years ago. Not a smooth experience as the unit did not work properly initially. But they fixed it and recently called for a routine inspection and was quoted exorbitant rates to replace a small part they said was potentially due to fail. All other HVAC companies quoted approx $300 for what they quoted $970. Don't do business with these people. Had to replace our duct work--which is old so it included asbestos abatement. Matthew worked hard and fast to open up some spaces so the abatement guys could come in and get it out in no time. Crew went out of their way to do a great job and even helped when some water damaged insulation needed replacement. New ducts are in and the system is running better than ever. Get 2nd opinion or even a 3rd opinion!!!!!! I get cleaning service through this company after finding them through Costco. So, I called them when my AC didn't get cold. My unit is only 5 years old. I was told it was old.. 2002.. then I was told my furnace was failing and they might need to turn off my gas for safety...was told it was from 2010.. I said no it wasn't... it was 5 years old. He showed me pictures of holes. I was about to crawl up under there myself because this was ridiculous. A supervisor came out said it was beginning to fail but he did not need to turn off the gas. But, we needed to buy co2 monitors to be safe. Quote for AC $1350 ... QUOTE for furnace $8500... unbelievable... When hubby got home, we found the date right on the unit 2017. Both were installed at the same time and both under Goodman warranty. Called Veterans Air.. $150 labor charge plus service call. No issues with my furnace. Unbelievable!!!!! No pictures of failures!!! I'm filing a complaint with better business bureau. read more
